This business does not accept cash, boycott! Also, £3.30 for a small tray of chips is daylight robbery - not enough to share anymore! Will never go here again.

I’ve just been to longjohns in Blandford to get fish and chips. First time. I’ve used this chip shop in a long time. The fish was approximately 8 inches long in about a quarter inch thick chips. Have a good standard but the fish is very poor there. I definitely would not recommend this chip shop

We've used this takeaway over several years whilst holidaying in the area. However on our latest visit and after spending £30 on fish and chips for four I have to say this was the worst I have ever had. There was virtually no fish inside the batter, I have seen more in a fish finger ! The chips were either overcooked or re warmed as they were virtually inedible. I tried emailing their admin. with the complaints and had no response. We will not be returning and certainly not recommending them.

Spent £19.10 on two large fish and a large chips and the fish I would describe as a small and was made up of mostly batter, fish was dry and tasteless and by far the worst we have ever had! For a chip shop 25minutes from poole it was far from satisfactory! Won’t be back

We normally go to the other fish and chip shop, however, we thought we'd give this one a go, as we haven't been there for a while. We ordered a standard haddock along with other bits, when my husband opened the box we couldn't believe our eyes, the piece of fish was so small, I honestly thought it was a joke. So disappointing, we'll probably won't bother again!

We visited here after a trip to a nearby National Trust place. We had done this once before and really enjoyed the food from here. We ordered 2 large portions of fish and chips to share between 4 of us. Normally at other establishments this is plenty and we have leftovers. Today we were charged £31 for 2 portions with 4 cans of drink 🥵. They were wrapped up automatically without asking if I wanted salt and vinegar. Only when I prompted them at the end did they offer me a separate bag with the salt and vinegar sachets in. I do not feel this is very environmentally conscious dispensing plastic vinegar sachets. The bag was then stapled closed which I thought was a bit of a health and safety no go risking lose staples near food. The food was tasty but I’d say the size of a standard not large portion. The price was a bit much. The salt and vinegar setup is daft. The staples were bonkers. We won’t be back.

Excellent fish & chips, but !!! don't expect to get them on time. I pre-ordered for collection and when I turned up on time the fish hadn't even gone in the fryer. Eventually received the order 20 mins. later. OK a 5 min. delay would have been acceptable but 20 minutes !!!!!! There is another chippy in town.

So we had a flyer through the door offering free delivery, we have never tried Long Johns so thought we'd use their website to order our dinner and have it delivered for free. The website is brilliant and placing an order couldn't be simpler however that is the best the experience got. I pre ordered and requested a set time for delivery that evening, the allotted time rolled around and no food arrived, I gave it 10 minutes as sometimes places can be busy and deliveries difficult, still no food. It's at this point that I gave the shop a call for the girl at the end of the phone to sigh and say that my order was in front of her and she would get the delivery sorted, I didn't receive an apology for the delay. When the food arrived another 5 minutes later the thought that had been going through my head was realised, our food had been waiting somewhere for a while as it was barely lukewarm and had to be reheated before we could eat it. So I don't know if they hadn't read the order correctly to see it was for delivery, even though the order slip that came with it was printed half an hour before the delivery time and it stated on it delivery and the time for delivery or just expected it to be collected, who knows. Had the food been delivered hot it may well have been enjoyable however the large portion of chips did not feed 3 people and the mushy peas were more watery green liquid than actual peas.

Asked for two small fish today and a large bag of chips plus mushy peas and they wanted £17. Yes £17 for a quick bite to eat. There was no menu by the front door as not allowed over the step due to covid. I understand that cash not accepted but payment only allowed by CONTACTLESS card. Don't use them due to doubts about their security. They refused my debit card so they lost out on a very expensive £17 of hard earned cash and I won't be ever eating there again. Would have liked a menu by the door to check how they got to £17 for such a normal little meal!!!

Partner and I fancied cod and chips drove to town after reading reviews we decided on long johns Blandford. What a disappointment their fish looked nice until we tried to eat it the batter wasn’t cooked it was gooey and fish tasted horrible. We live in seaside place so use to fresh fish this was clearly frozen and dreadful. Would have taken back but staying at caravan site and leaving tomorrow so put it down to experience. Do not want others to be caught out by reviews we read. Very bad I had to review.

I like the treat of fish & chips, especially on Friday after a busy week. I’ve visited Long John’s many times and bought fish & chips for the family. The fish is always excellent (both cod & haddock) and the chip portions generous, and the prices pretty reasonable too. The fish is fresh, always cooked to order, and worth the wait, though they do take telephone orders now, and also take credit cards. The staff are friendly. Thoroughly recommended.

Just managed to get there 10 minutes before they closed at lunchtime - no problem. We ordered 3 children's portions of fish & chips. They were served in grease proof bags, handy to sit on the bench, with the grandchildren, and watch the traffic go down the street. They were piping hot & delicious. There was just the right amount of fish for small children and the elderly! We will certainly be returning next year when on holiday in Dorset.

Being residents of the area, my wife and I have visited Long John's regularly across the years. As such, I feel that we can make a balanced assessment. Generally, we have found the service friendly and efficient and, based upon recent experience (which is more valid to those requiring a recent opinion), the standard of food has been high. Our experience is that there is less oil left on the food than similar local shops. This 'chippy' will certainly continue to be our port of call when a convenience meal is indicated.

We went here as it had good reviews on Trip Advisor. Found easily enough opposite prezzo and near the church. We had the 'normal' size fish portion and a small chips and some mushy peas. The fish portion was small, the mushy peas were mostly liquid. It was served quickly and there was not too much batter on the fish, but the portions were about half of what we would get from our ' local' chip shop.

Unusually, the meal was not great. The chips tasted as though they had been warmed up from lunchtime and the fish, despite asking for it to be lightly battered, was definately not. Since payment is taken before the meal is prepared, and is wrapped out of sight of the customer, there is no opportunity to reject it.

Very good freshly cooked fish and chips which is my favourite, my wife enjoys saveloy and pea fritter. They have a good range of products, and the shop is spotlessly clean and all of the food is cooked to order.I note one reviewer said the food is sometimes greasy, a tip to avoid this is to ask the counter staff NOT to roll up the top of the bag the food is in as this causes it steam and become soggy. You will find your food much nicer if you do this.

The wife and I with our dog stayed here for two nights in a family room. After easily parking up in the pub carpark we entered the Cashmoor Inn and were met by a very pleasant and helpful young lady who then showed us to our room. The room itself was large and airy with a decent size double bed & again a decent size single bed. The bedding sheets were clean and fresh accompanied by a very warm and comfortable duvet. The beds were a little hard for us but still fair. The en-suite was very acceptable with a good hot shower with decent pressure. The clean white large fluffy & assorted towels were very good. Remember this is a pub/inn and not the Savoy. Our room overlooked the busy A road but this is explained on their website so you must expect heavy traffic at anytime - the flow of traffic does subside considerably later into the night but not completely. Our room had tea/coffee making facilities and these were topped up as required. A small but effective tv with decent reception. Decent size wardrobe and ample drawer stowage so you could “spread” your kit around. Plug sockets by double and single bed. The pub itself was friendly and used by the locals - a very good atmosphere indeed and so very dog friendly. The beer I had was hand pulled and Neil the owner knew how to look after his cellar. The wife was also very happy with the cider on offer. We dined in the pub side of the Inn. The restaurant looked nice and inviting but we enjoyed the bar area that much and having the dog with us it made it a no brainer to have our meal near the bar. Both our meals were prepared fresh and they were marvellous and at a fantastic price - well done indeed. Breakfast was fab, full English and all that jazz. Neil the proprietor was very approachable and flexible, meeting our needs as required. He and his daughter Thia (no idea if I’ve spelt that right so apologies for my ignorance) were such nice people and we can only give them praise. There is also a very large beer garden which is child & dog friendly, there is a climbing frame (probably not for adults!) and ample seating - dogs must be kept on a lead in the garden which is fair enough. You have to remember, this is a pub, and it looks after it’s locals, yes it may need a little freshening up here and there but somehow this adds to its charm. This is a good place & excellent value for money. Great food, great ale and great people - long may it last.
