The best restaurants in North Dorset South West

I have written reviews before for TaT when at the last location,and when they moved into the new location,we were first customer back in July this year. So Friday of this week was my second visit,and now really upto steam,and on the tracks for a new year. In prevysite,I loved the extremely large breakfast choice. Margot in new place,has reduced the range, quality is just as good,but less complicated and labour intensive,as it has to trade in today's climate. So we went for lunch... And as to be expected everything was top notch. Margot has years of catering experience and thinks up new ways to present her food. I had macaroni cheese,with topping of melted brie..served with pigs in blankets,slaw and salad. Two others had panini type pizza,and minced beef pie...all with the Margot twist. I have not made comment about the cakes....all made in the kitchen,all delicious and we always come away with cake for later. Thankfully I live about 159+ miles away,otherwise I would be a more regular visitor,and would need to lose more weight than now. I really like and rate TaT.

We had a fantastic meal at Jerry's, everything was delicious. Jerry is always so cheerful and attentive. We were a mixed age group with a baby and all made so welcome.

More than just a leading Tea House, Comins Sturminster Newton is a very coeliac friendly café.  Full 5* review at CoeliacwellNES.com.  They have soft doughy GF gyoza, gluten free sweet treats and obviously phenomenal tea.  A lovely place to watch all the comins and goings, will try out the Bath branch soon!

We love Gusto's, great coffee and fab food, 100% better than any of the high street chain coffee bars..... thank you Gusto's .

We came for coffee in the morning, and liked it so much that we came back for lunch. Lovely staff, and the food was delicious. Can recommend the Welsh Rarebit and Chicken Gyros!

Can't recommend No.8 Cafe enough. Friendly staff. Nice inside and out. Off the East Street so nice and secluded. I had the Little Breakfast - which was enough and very tasty. Every element well made and sourced. I especially like the mushroom with thyme, cooked for a perfect amount of time and not swimming in butter like usual. Bang on! Had a really nice coffee too. Go!

We were staying nearby for a weeks' holiday and were recommended Fellini's as a great Italian. We ordered takeaway meals, 2 x pizzas, a seafood spaghetti and chicken rigatoni. All 4 were excellent, very tasty and still great temperatures when we got them to our accommodation. We are going to have another takeaway before we go home. This is highly recommend.

Arrived in Sturminster Newton on a Monday to find many eateries were closed! Luckily Joshua's was open and the food really good and service excellent. The coffee was exceptional!

This is THE BEST cafe around .. the atmosphere is lovely and the staff are so nice and friendly .. Doggy friendly too 👏👍plus they have doggy ice cream !! Beautiful view .. lovely food , cakes and meals .. PERFECT after a nice walk ..

Ich habe das Vergnügen gehabt, dieses zauberhafte kleine Café zu besuchen, und es war ein absoluter Volltreffer! Schon beim Betreten wird man von einer warmen, heimeligen Atmosphäre empfangen, die durch die liebevoll eingerichtete Vintage-Dekoration noch verstärkt wird. Man spürt sofort, dass hier mit Herz und Seele gearbeitet wird. Die Betreiberinnen backen alles selbst, und das schmeckt man auch. Die Scones, Kuchen und herzhaften Gerichte sind nicht nur unglaublich lecker, sondern auch wunderschön angerichtet. Jeder Bissen ist ein Genuss, bei dem man die Qualität und Frische der Zutaten deutlich herausschmeckt. Besonders hervorheben möchte ich die großartigen vegetarischen Optionen, die mit ebenso viel Liebe und Raffinesse zubereitet werden – ein echter Pluspunkt für Vegetarier. Das gesamte Erlebnis war einfach perfekt. Man merkt, dass hier Menschen am Werk sind, die ihre Arbeit lieben und das merkt man in jedem Detail – vom freundlichen Service bis hin zur Präsentation der Speisen. Ein Café, das durch seinen Charme und die hohe Qualität in jedem Bereich besticht. Für mich ist das PetrAnette’s ein echter Geheimtipp, den man unbedingt ausprobieren sollte. Es bekommt von mir ganz klar eine 10/10 und ich freue mich schon auf meinen nächsten Besuch!

We visited Gorcombe as a company for some outdoor pursuits and built up quite an appetite after all the activities! By prior arrangement we had sole use of the cafe for food, a selection of curries and sides. They were delicious - catering for a nut allergy and vegans within our group too. The service and friendly staff made it such an enjoyable evening and everyone loved the food. I wish I had taken photos but would highly recommend. Such a warm and welcoming place to enjoy a delicious meal.

I can’t recommend The Pantry highly enough! From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The Gail goes above and beyond to ensure every customer feels valued, whether you’re a regular or visiting for the first time. The food is absolutely delicious – fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. There’s something to suit every taste, and everything is presented beautifully and on hot plates! It’s the kind of place where you can tell a lot of thought and love has gone into creating the menu. What makes The Pantry even more special is their open-door policy for everyone – including our four-legged friends! It’s so refreshing to find a spot where dogs are not only allowed but genuinely welcomed. It’s a perfect place to relax, enjoy great food, and soak up the friendly vibe. A visit to Blandford Forum wouldn’t be complete without stopping by The Pantry. Fantastic food, excellent service, and a warm welcome for all – humans and dogs alike!
