Lovely coffee and delicious lunch of beef and bell pepper curry. So nice to find good gluten free options. We will definitely be back 🙂

We stopped here for breakfast whilst staying in a nearby village. They had only started doing breakfasts this week, and it was one of the best full English’s we’d ever had. Really reasonably priced, beautiful location with outside seating, friendly staff and dog friendly too. The cakes looked incredible too, really recommend a stop here.

This place has got it right. The food and drink here is everything you want from a little cafe; fresh, tasty, just the right amount of choice, prepared and served by friendly staff. Local ingredients are used (and you can buy their own beef and lamb cuts to take home). On top of that it is great cycling around this area so no problem working off the lovely moist cake. It's a delightful find and we'll be back soon.

What a special find. I've been twice within a week. Yummy food. Lush Butternut and chili soup (v) Great Vegan Quiche - spinach and mushrooms. Tasty Bacon and Chili jelly sandwich and a very satisfying Toasted cheese sandwich with salad. Fentmans drinks, and a naughty chocolate brownie. Lovely team serving, and working to make it a treat to stop in. Even the Pug was welcomed with a biscuit and praise. When I can, I will be back.

On a recent stay in the area I visited Round Chimney Farm after an online search. What a delightful find. So very welcoming and dog friendly. Lovely cafe with inside and outdoor seating, great coffee and a lovely selection of cakes and light meals. There is produce on sale in the cafe including their own meat from the farm. From the produce I bought myself steak and my husband a steak and ale pie. He was very happy with the pie and my steak was delicious, the best I have ever tasted and I wish I had bought more! For my four legged friend, Lars the black lab, there was delicious peanut butter and banana doggy ice cream with a personal feeding service from the owner - Lars was a very happy dog. I will definitely visit again if I am in the area.

They sell themselves as "A restaurant with rooms" and that gives a mere hint of what they're REALLY about here, firstly, the rooms are beautiful, clean, & well maintained, their location literally couldn't be any better, just on the edge of the very lovely hill-top medieval town of Shaftesbury, it's a two minute walk into town and we'll worth a visit in itself, now then, the nitty-gritty, the food, OMG! I'm based in Leicestershire, and now I know how good the food is here, I can tell you that I would drive the 161 miles straight there for a feed here, no exaggerating, all three courses of my evening meal were absolutely stunning, the aromas, the textures, the sheer depth of flavours, I'm not gushing am I ? LoL Anyway, Don't take my word for it, get booking! You won't regret it

Popped in the royal oak on a short 2 day break to dorset We saw the google reviews were pretty good so we headed to the royal oak for lunch What a good choice as the food was absolutely lovely I had fillet steak with peppercorn sauce and my mrs had a jacket potato. The steak was cooked to perfection and very tender also the portion size was very generous on both meals, for dessert we both went for the home made Dorset apple cake with custard ( a pub favourite as the menu stated)this was a delicious light sponge with apple and a light sugary cinnamon top which was a delight. The very friendly barmaid made the experience even better so try the Royal Oak you won't be disappointed . Also check out the amazing wildlife drawings that are for sale hung around the walls
