Visited Steve and the Yellow Bicyclists for a couple of their supper clubs. Always an outstanding and fun evening with gorgeously prepared and cooked food, served with a smile. We understand that Steve will be hanging up his apron, so thank you for everything and good luck for the future. You deserve it.

This is a gem of a cafe. Small so you may not always get a seat, and as it's self run it may have to suddenly shut at short notice or not open due to staff issues. However, those little things aside, visitng and eating here is an absolute must and always worth it. The staff are friendly and the owner really loves his food and puts so much effort into perfecting his dishes that you can taste everything he puts into them. Everything is fresh and of the best quality, it's only a shame when we turn up and there are no seats, but it's always worth the wait. Well done team and keep up the great work.

Walked in by accident as we were a bit peckish and liked one of the specials advertised in the window. What an absolute find ! The special of lamb neck medallions cooked perfectly pink was just gorgeous, lovingly placed on a bed of salad and a thick slice of toasted bread, cooked by the team that morning. The rest of the menu was fantastic - a mix of traditional breakfast for the early comers and a super menu of campfire classics (I had the smoked haddock), sandwiches, fresh hash brown mix ups and bowl of mash-based mix ups, all with local Dorset produce and washed down with some locally roasted coffee. This is all cooked with love and good cheer in full view by the manager, who told me he has been at this site for 10 years. We had a good chat about food and our likes and dislikes. I loved his approach - sticking with good combinations of familiar local ingredients with the odd twist. The rest of his serving team was friendly and efficient and there was a real banter going on - the sort that is experienced only in happy places of work. Absolutely a must visit if you are hungry. So, if you thought you never had a reason to go to Blandford Forum, you do now.

Lovely little cafe - their baker, Rhe, is fabulous! Her as a person as well as her stunning cakes. It was pure luck that I stumbled across her business page (shared by the cafe) - so after being let down by two other bakers, Rhe literally came to my rescue! She is an absolute magician with the deadline she had to create my daughter's first birthday cake (especially with it being so close to Christmas!). She is an extremely professional, kind and talented individual. The cake was absolutely exquisite (she nailed the brief!) - it immediately brought me to tears when I collected it. After getting it safely home and having a closer look - the attention to detail was impeccable and it was evidently made with so much love and passion. It was a HUGE hit with my family who have already started spreading the word about her business as well as wanting to use her for other, upcoming occasions. I cannot recommend Rhe enough for anyone seeking not just a cake, but a work of delicious, edible art. She as a person radiates warmth and will do everything in her power to create the perfect cake for you. Thank you, Rhe, for making my daughter's first birthday unforgettable - you are an exceptional baker and I will be returning! Xx

Awesome little cafe away from the main street. It's just a little up the main street and You'll see the prominent Yellow Bicycle. My brother and I were walking up that street to look for a lunch option and we were hoping not to have to do Subway for lunch. We took a look at the menu at the window and we saw a Campfire Pan dish that seemed intriguing. We were there just after the lunch rush and it smelled amazing so we decided to pop in to try it out. We each got the Campfire Pan with sausage and it came in a small saucepan with thick slabs of artisanal bread and a nice ramekin of delicious butter. While the butter was amazing to have with the bread, the real star is the pan with a delectable mix of beans, sausage, tomatoes topped with an egg and charred just a bit for texture and flavour. Dipping the bread in that saucy goodness was the best way to engulf the bread and I found excuses to get as much of the butter on the bread as well because it was just that good. We also got the spiced potatoes - forgot what it was called unfortunately. It got scarfed down pretty quickly between us as it was delicious. The Campfire Pan is a fan favourite for 8 years so definitely worth a try!

I've lived in Blandford on & off since 1976. I love food! However I really love a breakfast! I've never had a full English cooked breakfast this exacting, it was, in my opinion simply outstanding, fresh produce, clearly well sourced ingredients; this will now become a permanent fixture as our guilty pleasure, luckily enough, we only live on Whitecliff Mill Street around the corner. Thankyou Steve, obviously one can see you have won awards for your chef' mastery. Thankyou so much! Team Chunk

It’s rare to find cafe’s offering the entire menu in chid portions, and this is a massive attraction to myself and two children who are so so bored of seeing the same kids options like pizza or chicken nuggets. Anyway this was the second visit to the cafe and like the first time the food was delicious. However the service from one of the waitresses was pretty poor, she moaned when we ordered milkshakes saying that she had made so many already. On top of that, both she and the chef had an open conversation about how they don’t understand why people order milkshakes on hot days, and that lemonade is more refreshing. This made us feel very uncomfortable, like we had inconvenienced them some how. On the menu it stated the milkshakes contained ice cream, yet they were both room temperature when served so maybe this isn’t true. When our order came we had two portions of the same size one for me and one for my son, I mentioned this as I was concerned I would be charged for two adults portions, the chef said it’s nearly impossible to make child portions of the specific dish and that they had never served a child’s portion in the past, despite this dish being served to my son the last time we visited as a child’s portion! He did agree to bill one of them as a child’s portion though. Later when I asked the same waitress for some water she seemed like it was an inconvenience to her. I would like to add that the young waitress with the brown hair was very polite and professional and clearly understood how to treat customers. My message to the staff is that maybe you should discuss your opinion’s later when no customers are around or better yet remove the items from the menu that you don’t want to serve. Perhaps the waitress who seemed so dissatisfied with her job should look elsewhere to earn an income, or get some hospitality training. Final thought: I’m torn if we will return or recommend to other families.

The food was delicious and I remember having a bread boat filled with smoked mackerel, spinach and cheese from memory and had to try it as never had anything like that before. Probably the worst ever anywhere, and the most expensive locally. Unfortunately, can’t think of anything good to say about it. 09.45 Saturday, waitress said she was tired and had to sit down to take our order, we asked for brown toast, but they only had white home made, which came as small doorsteps and was doughy and only tasted of flour, served on a board and we had to ask for plates. Cappacino was like tepid milk and we had to ask for chocolate sprinkles. The tea mug had three chips in the top. They started making fried bread and filled the place with lard smoke. It wasn’t very clean anywhere.

This is a small cafe in the centre of Blandford, but don’t let that fool you. Firstly, be aware that due to its size, you may have to come back after a short wait for a table. Secondly, this is not a classic ‘full English’ greasy spoon. This is a location with an emphasis on the best local ingredients, and specialises in unusual but well-presented dishes - these are all prepared in an open kitchen. There is also a range of deli items to purchase as well as an exceptional range of cakes. Steve and his team really put the effort into giving customers a personal experience, and this ensures a loyal local following. If in Blandford, this is absolutely somewhere I’d recommend you visit.

By and large we had a great experience here. We always like to find places that think beyond the standard lunch menu options, and The Yellow Bicycle covers just enough of those to cater to the less adventurous - albeit in its own fresh way - plus offers some quite original options - for which, thank you! Good for non-meat-eaters, and our children like the food as much as we did - always a tricky balance to achieve. People-watching from the window seat was also fun. If I want to be fussy, the coffee let it down a bit, and the service was a little slow, but not enough to put me off if we found ourselves in Blandford Forum again.

During our wait the 2 waitresses were constantly looking at their phones and eating. No progress report on the soup. When it finally arrived it was very tasty. From the moment we arrived the owner/Cook was talking to a couple, the only other customers apart from us. He was so loud that we found it really hard to hear our own conversation. It really was an unacceptable level. That and the length of time it took to serve a couple of bowls of soup, have put us off returning.

TAKE a chance and sometimes you are richly rewarded. The Yellow Bicycle is just under an hour's drive from our home and so well outside our usual circle of restaurants, but for a special birthday we made the extra effort and booked a table.I say booked because this is a hugely popular place which, even in Covid times of reduced seating and social distancing, was swiftly full for almost the whole time we were there. Without a booking we would have struggled to get a table for some time.Even before we were shown to our table we ALL had to leave our names and a contact number, other virus cautions ranging from perspex shields to hand sanitisers. Even the in-cafe cooking area was shielded, reassuring attention to detail. We began slowly with coffees and teas and a couple of truly mouth-watering mini cheesecakes which I heartily recommend. The larger version wasn't available, but the minis were brought out specially for us and we loved them.A bit of chit-chat and we advanced to ordering iced tea and home-made lemonade ahead of our main courses which included barbecued pork, mash and home-made baked beans and a wonderful medley of wild rabbit pate, three different meats, two chutneys, home-made bread, salad and apple.Toilets were clean and very well ordered with clear notices about hand sanitisers and washing facilities, general service was excellent and the gentle chat we had with the chef about his cafe and food in general particularly local sourcing was very interesting. The bicycle theme was obvious throughout from numerous photos including cycling legend Eddie Merckx to special themed displays including bar-style stools with a chain and pedals. But it was the food which delighted us, prepared simply but with great skill and delicious taste. The bill was well under £40 and we considered it money very well spent.Don't miss a chance to come here. We only wish it was closer to where we live so we could become regulars. A top quality cafe.

Favourite place for breakfast. Always feel welcome here, the place is clean and the food is exceptional. The Campfire beans are an absolute treat.

Just went here for lunch today with a friend. We moved from the first table we sat at as when we sat down the chef proceeded to talk over us to a lady on another table in an incredibly loud voice. We then moved to another table but he still didn’t get the hint and carried on talking loudly to all who would listen to him.The macaroni cheese was delicious but I wouldn’t return as the chef was unnecessarily loud and it ruined the lunch with my friend.

Went for brunch as a surprise family event. Menu states food will take time as cooked from scratch. However didn't expect toasted sandwiches to take over half an hour to arrive, along with the drink order! Plus customer came in and ordered behind us but as a regular got her order before us. Food was good but certainly not worth the wait or the price. A real arrogant feel to the place. What a shame

The best breakfast we’ve had for a long time! Delicious, using high quality local produce. I can recommend the cornbread option or the award winning eggy bread with chorizo.

Having noted previously that this is an ‘award-winning’ cafe we called in for lunch. The food, when it arrived was delicious, but the wait was much longer than anticipated. It was evident that the chef cooks dishes for one table in entirety before beginning work on those for the next to order. Perhaps some multitasking might speed up the cooking. There is no WiFi, which is not a problem as there are newspapers and local publications to read if you can bear the instructive music which certainly couldn’t be described as ‘background’.The rather surly female member of staff had to be told to clear a table and even then couldn’t quite bring herself to finish the task by wiping it. She had no idea where we had been sitting (there are only seven tables!) or what we had ordered when it was time to pay.the bill. If only she could be prized away from her phone for a few minutes she might have some idea as to the meaning of the words ‘ customer service’.

Whenever I visit Blandford I look forward to lunch or a snack in this lovely cafe. Unfortunately you can’t always get a table and I can understand why it’s so busy. The food is fabulous and so tasty. The owner seems able to keep coming up with winning food combinations.

We arrived midweek about 12.15 and the cafe was quiet - by 1pm, there were no tables available and some left disappointed.

Visited whilst staying with family in Dorset. What a fabulous place and fantastic food. We did have to wait but only because it was all being cooked freshly for us. Will definitely go back when I am next in Blandford.

Another amazing meal today at the Yellow Bicycle café. My partner had the beef stroganoff which apparently was creamy and delicious. It was served with an amazing sweet pepper flatbread. I had a 3 cheese flatbread which featured amazing Dorset Blue Vinney, and some yummy local cheddar and what I think was local ricotta. This came with a very tasty mixed salad/pickle mix and the tastiest Salsa Verde I have ever had. Steve the chef told me it included coriander, watercress, garlic and many other delicious flavours. I could still taste the flavours of it an hour later dancing around my tongue. Fantastic and all homemade!

It was a lovely little cafe with plenty of seating and the staff was very pleasant and polite, there was a decent menu and selection of cakes on the counter to choose from. We opted for the breakfast which was very disappointing, the only nice thing on there was the bacon as it wasn't overcooked the rest was overcooked and seemed as though it had been sitting under a warmer or hotplate, the fried bread was in parts burnt, and the sausage was rock hard down one side, the hash browns where not great however we did eat it all as we paid for it and we don't like to waste food and because of the amount of money we paid for them I had a large breakfast and my wife had the small and the extra addition of black pudding on both and two drinks cost was under £32.00.

Saw this pub but past it from Blandford Forum direction, and we were hungry. Luckily there was a right hand turning where we could turn around 200yrds away. Good size car park, warm greeting, and extensive menu for a pub lunchtime! I had a delicious beef stroganoff, and hubby had game pie with stilton. All hot, and home made. Such a refreshing change from all the same chain pubs. Portion sizes are generous, interior homely and plenty of space. Lovely big fireplace, prices reasonable, well worth a visit!

We had our wedding reception meal here last week and I can honestly say it was fabulous. The staff were extremely attentive and the food was the best. Thank you to Lee, Hannah, Jay and the team for making our special day so memorable.

A bit disappointing as drinks weren't great and food took a long time to arrive. Decor was lost somewhere between the 1970s and the stone age. But I will say..the staff were very helpful and friendly All said...I'd go elsewhere next time
