Popped in after a walk round Badbury Rings. The place was quiet but very festive looking with a nice cosy atmosphere. The staff were friendly and helpful, recommending drinks and food for a first-timer. The menu was packed with lots of pub classics and there was a wide variety of drinks too. I went for the Hunters Chicken and was not disappointed. Well presented, tasty and a large portion which I almost couldn't finish! All washed down with a lovely pint of real ale. I'll definitely be coming back, thanks Jess's!

Having passed The True Lovers Knot many times we had a chance to stop off there today. It’s a true old fashion pub with a log burner which was alight and we were lucky enough to get a table right next to it. We were hoping to have a Sunday roast. Because we hadn’t booked a table we thought we were out of luck. However they were very accommodating and said we could have the table till 14.30 which was fantastic. We ordered two roast turkey dinners which come with all the trimmings and was absolutely delicious. You definitely won’t leave feeling hungry. We will definitely return but make sure we book. Thank you.

We booked to stay here in the camping area for two nights. Upon arrival a charity event was taking place so it was busy with lots of stalls and visitors. The lady behind the bar was lovely and did a great job checking us in and we booked in for a meal that night which was very nice. However, the facilities advertised as part of camping were not provided. The toilet was left full of rubbish from the charity event and not cleared, the toilet was not cleaned or replenished over the two days we stayed and the shower room which was dirty was never cleaned. I tried to replenish the loo roll myself visiting the building where the house accommodation guest entrance was located but found nothing and the pub entrance was closed surprisingly. Shame, because it is nicely located and when the pub was open, had a nice atmosphere and good food. Poor customer service from yourselves and anybody choosing to stay - take your own loo roll. Popped in here with kids on way back from the beach. I'm old fashioned and do appreciate the bar staff giving it some 'I'll be with you in a moment' patter when I approached the bar. Acknowledgement. Nice. The service was friendly and more importantly the lemonades and shandy were ice cold. Kids could happily play on the crazy golf style gravel at the top of the beer garden. Can't comment on rooms or food but it felt a good place to be.

A really mixed experience. Beer was poor, and the end of a barrel blamed, but new one the following day wasn’t great. Nice, if limited menu, (new) chef very helpful and willing to deviate:accommodate. Camp site has been impacted negatively by the introduction of a rather ugly, dishevelled looking static caravan, which is such a shame.

Great little campsite with laid back feel. Good sized pitches, will visit again if in the area. Only downside was wonky toilet seats in pub and no hand-wash in the camping toilet, so gross considering the amount of people using it and such an easy thing to fix! In planning to stay at the hotel we found there are no nearby restaurants so we booked for Friday night dinner seeing there were traditional fish and chips on the menu which suits us well as pub food. Sadly they did not have fish & chips due to a supply problem. As pescetarions this left us with the option of Greek salad - which was OK though plain small and expensive for what it was. I added a squid starter along with the salad and it arrived dry and overcooked. Not a good start to our weekend - we did not eat in the pub again.

Extremely disappointing lunch. The menu was very limited, we chose “Mac and cheese with bacon bits and garlic ciabatta” which was served with no bacon at all, and a slice of bread from a sliced loaf of bread. They did offer to cook some bacon, but we didn’t want to wait with our food going cold. We asked for a discount and they took off just £1. Will not be returning.

We just had our wedding at the True Lovers knot and to say it was perfect would be an understatement. Heather, Barry and the team were so accommodating and friendly from start to finish which really put us at ease. Especially when other external factors didn’t go to plan. The food on the day was absolutely outstanding, quite a feat given we had over 70 hungry guests. They did everything with military precision, despite the fact that they had been let down on staff numbers that day. We just loved every second of it, and they have a huge part to play in that. We can’t thank you enough TLK team, you’re bloody brilliant. Chris and Chelsea Sherry x

It is so difficult these days to find pubs that are open at the beginning of the week and which have a decent menu and the White Lion has both! This was one of the best meals we have had in the area and the place was really busy, even on a Tuesday lunchtime. The menu had a good selection and we had the salmon and the home made steak and red pie which were both really nice, followed by an orange and marmalade pudding with Drambuie custard. Very reasonable prices too. The pub itself is very old and quirky with low ceilings and a beautiful beer garden and is dog friendly. We’ll definitely be back and look forward too to enjoying the garden in the better weather!

Had a superb Sunday Eoast and dessert with our family. Beef and pork were excellent, lots of veg and a cracking gravy. We had the sticky toffee pudding and white and dark chocolate tower cake which were homemade and phenomenal. Lovely village pub. Look forward to heading back soon.

Wow.......what a very disappointing lunchtime visit! Haven't been here since it's been refurbed. The old restaurant had a great selection of meals, snacks, cakes, etc. This time, it was a variation on a meat theme. We went fairly safe, ordering the nachos. Paid for the 'add on' smoked chicken, expecting it to be tander chicken breast. Instead, it was a fatty, bitty mess which neither of us could eat. Like my wife said, it looked like the titbits you might scrape into the cat's dish after a roast dinner! It was only when the bill came, we saw that we'd been served chicken thigh. Had it said that on the menu, we would have avoided it in the first place. Regards atmosphere.......well apart from the same great views.....there was none! We ate at 1pm and our table for two was 1 of only 5 occupied. When I last visited here, the place would have been rammed at that time of day, which says a lot. Our waitress was pleasant enough but seemed to be just going through the motions, not engaging with us at all. The final insult was getting the bill to see that we'd been charged service charge........ ..yes.......our table for 2! We won't be returning and I wouldn't recommend it. Shame that the new owners felt compelled to change what didn't need changed.
