A wonderful local pub, very nice outside area. Currently doing mostly Tapas style food. Also do a few open mic nights as well as having the occasional band performing.

Slow service (over 30m from ordering to receiving food, then the meals for our party arrived over a period of about 20 minutes). Dirty glasses, found something unpleasant stuck to the inside of mine at the bottom. Would go here for a drink, elsewhere if I wanted food.

We had a really nice meal here recently. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was incredible. It was all home made and absolutely delicious. This pub is a little gem!

Our group of four booked lunch on the May bank holiday and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The food was great, the service friendly and welcoming and the venue beautifully presented in a comfortable olde worlde, traditional pub style. Equally agreeable was the garden, laid to grass with handsome, well made, timber furniture, free from concrete and plastic. Well done to the owners / managers for presenting a real English country pub.

Turned up and terrorised the bar with 6 kids (your welcome). Staff were friendly and beer was good. They have bar billiards and bar skittles 👏👏

Had a great evening at this lovely rural pub. I had scampi and chips and it was the best scampi and chips I’ve ever had and I did not have to wait long for it despite it being a busy night. Staff are friendly and I was made to feel welcome.

Great location, happy hour so nice cheap drinks and curry truck outside! Perfect evening.

Friendly local pub well worth a visit

This pub should not be serving food. We had what was without any doubt the worst food experience we've ever had in the UK. My partner's "beef burger" was just that: an overcooked dry patty on a stale bun with nothing else. The chips were half raw. The most interesting items on the menu were unavailable so I ended up resorting to "chicken pebbles (5 miserable tiny chicken nuggets) with "soured honey" (ketchup). The "dressed salad" was not dressed at all and looked like it came out of the bottom of the vegetable drawer. Our dog could have cooked us a better meal than this. Never again.

This was easily the worst food experience my partner and I ever had, and it's not even close. The drinks were fine, no complaints there. We were tucked away from the rest of the pub, which I didn't mind all that much but it did make the place feel more like a locals place. I ordered a burger that was literally just that, a burger bought from a supermarket and put in between a stale bread roll. The coleslaw that came with it was a teaspoon's worth out of a pot and the chips (the highlight of the meal) were simple oven chips that were somehow either overdone or still frozen. What was even more ridiculous was my partner's meal, 'chicken pebbles with soured honey' which constituted five deep fried miniature chicken nuggets with some sugary liquid which apparently people are meant to pay a fiver for. The garden salad was just as ludicrous, a smattering of lettuce, carrot and radishes that came straight from a bag with some kind of invisible dressing because it was non-existent. To top it off, it took nearly an hour for it to be served. In summary, I cannot stress enough how awful it was and I shan't ever be visiting The Antelope ever again.

The Antelope Inn accepted us without a booking (even though they were busy) - the first thing that impressed me. Not a lot of choice (with the food) but what we had was really nice. Staff was lovely too. A really good traditional pub. Thoroughly recommend it.

We had failed to book in advance and, though they were busy, the Antelope Inn accepted us at short notice. The menu was extremely limited but the food was thoroughly enjoyable (as was the banter with the staff). Would really recommend this very traditional pub. (One other observation: shouldn't this pub be classed as being in Hazelbury Bryan rather than Sturminster Newton?)

The Antelope is a beautiful village pub which exceeded our expectations. We booked the skittle alley for an anniversary celebration, it was a brilliant space for a family gathering. The skittle alley and pub was clean and decorated tastefully. We are a family of 14 so ordered a selection of tapas as well as burgers for the children, the food was fresh and delicious and presented well. Good value for the quality of food. Rhiannon, her partner and team were impeccable, nothing was too much trouble, we felt that they made our parents anniversary a special one to remember, we would highly recommend a visit and can not wait to return.

Unusual to get tapas in an old English country pub but more surprises lay in store , speedy service , chess night , and other bar games ... nice pub indoors and out .. well worth a visit

The best pub food I've ever had. Had beef & Guinness pie and it was to die for. The gravy was especially delicious. Great selction on tap, something for everyone behind the bar. Gorgeous outdoor seating and lovely interior.

What a find! Attentive staff Table of 8 and a baby was not a problem Each and every tapas we picked was delicious and believe me there was a lot. Although the South African sausage was a big hit with me. We asked for the tapas to come as and when it was ready which kept a steady flow of food. Beautiful garden. We visited on an evening of our holiday. Beautiful pub and garden, staff were very friendly and attentive. The tapas menu was really good, lots of different choices available to cater for everyone. Was nice to go to a country pub but have a completely different style of food available to a usual pub menu. We were a table of 8 and considering the amount of dishes we ordered the food came out very quickly. Would definitely recommend if you are in the area.

Consider, lockdown requirements. The Antelope has made sensible adaptions to accommodate. Good Real Ales, Excellent selection of Gins and Rums. Very Friendly Family Run. Good seating options. Great heart of the village pub.

We popped in one Saturday lunchtime in September and had a great time. Very conscientious staff and the food was excellent. The building has been refurbished and looks good.

We stopped off for a quick drink before we continued onto our overnight stay at a local holiday cottage as we were a bit early for check-in and we glad we did. The staff were amazing, very helpful. All the right pandemic precautions had been put in place even introducing theif own method of track & trace should it be needed. It has a lovely grassed garden which made it difficult to move onto our final weekend accomodation rather thsn having another drink. Would we returm. YES

Nice little pub in a lovely little village

Haven't been here for a few years and was very pleasantly surprised. It now has a very comfortable feel as you walk in with a good ambience. Very welcoming staff and a good selection of ales. Very minimal food selection (just burgers last night) but they were enjoyed by all. would willingly return.

The new landlord is revamping the interior and it's looking lovely and rustic (December 2019). It's a very welcoming atmosphere with a nice selection of beer and cider on draft.

Staying about 15 min walk away and called in after a day out. What a fantastic atmosphere. No food, but landlady ready to book a table for us at a local restaurant she recommended. Great selection of drinks including a superb Cornish lager. Couldn’t fault this pub at all. Would use it regularly if this were close to me.

It’s a lovely old pretty pub in a small village setting with plenty of room inside, or weather permitting outside. Unfortunately they no longer serve food & the bar staff are young & inexperienced. Definitely not the pub it used to be that’s for sure!

In this day an age what are the chances of a rural pub surviving in they do not offer any food what so ever??

Food is okay. Portions were good, but a simple menu. This is a place to enjoy the good will of the Community, rather than a Gourmet feast. You can satisfy your hunger, & drink...It is a PUB! Good for Couples, Family, friends, & solo.

Great food and nothing to much trouble. Very dog friendly and welcoming would go back again. Very reasonable prices.
