Sorry to say it had gone down hill I am local but now avoid eating there as the lady cook always looks miserable and don’t dare to ask for a slight change on anything because the answer is always no, I’ve been in the cafe business and we did all we could to make people happy. I always had an egg and bacon sandwich at the cafe and when I asked the girl (very pleasant) she sheepishly said no only baps. It could be a great cafe if only they tried harder.

Great steak and ale pie 👍👍👍👍. The choice was limited but on the plus side the quality was excellent. Fish was a little on the small side but tasty.

We stayed here as part of our trip to Bath. We arrived late Sunday as diners were finishing lunch and it had that lazy Sunday vibe to it. For our evening meal, we were directed to the Methuen Arms in Corsham, which is about 15 mins away. It didn’t bother us but it might some. The rooms are in a stand alone building some 50m from the main building. Generally very quiet, although there is a train line that runs behind and you can hear them, but whoosh and they are gone. It didn’t bother us. The rooms are on the small side and are very well appointed. For early morning breakfast drinks, we were given milk in a flask. The breakfast is excellent - lots of choice. The staff were attentive and helpful. We recommend it and would go back.

Having found this pub on a motor home app as a stop over, we called ahead to make sure we could park up for the night. The landlord was incredibly helpful and said yes we could. We had a couple of drinks and some light snacks when we arrived and spent a lovely few hours in the pub garden overlooking the canal. We spent a peaceful night in our motorhomes (our friends came with theirs too). We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and some of the locals. We are totally self sufficient in our motorhomes but the pub said we could use their toilets during opening hours. We would definitely visit again as an overnight stopover and thank you to the landlord for letting us stay in his car park.

I so wanted to give it a 5 but charging a 10% service charge in advance is just taking the Mick. An extra 10 % for a pint poured in the bar, outrageous. I paid more for my beer as a punishment for eating there whereas if I’d just bought a beer and gone away I would been charged the proper amount. However The food was fabulous, the staff were attentive and helpful. I’ll go back again but will order drinks separately at the bar. I’d like to choose if when and how much I’d like to give as a tip. They let themselves down badly with the service charge policy which is a shame as everything else was exceptional.

Very average! Service slow - over an hour to receive our order. Food very average- foccacia was just a crust of bread with a drizzle of oil. No sign of any salmon in the salmon and prawn linguine. We asked where the prosciutto ham was on the chicken it was supposed to wrapped in - got told it was very thinly sliced😅. Meals were OK, not great, just very average. You'll get better quality and value at one of the local pubs.

Our first and much anticipated visit to Bowood for Easter Sunday Lunch. Surroundings are lovely - staff very pleasant and whilst lunch was ok we were left feeling a little frustrated. i If you offer Pork with “puffed crackling & apple sauce” then serve it! I received neither. After requesting crackling - it was just roasted skin - not eatable. Tea /Coffee and petit fours included in cost - but we were then charged for the tea & coffee. A Lack of attention to detail I’m afraid - we really felt uncomfortable having to keep bringing such simple things to the attention of staff. Not sure if we would repeat the 1 hour drive based on todays experience - a shame as we were hoping it would become our new ‘go to hotel and restaurant’

Serving the premier inn on the outside of Chippenham, this Brewers Fayre is a place that garuntees to give you a good meal. Despite it being a 'order at the bar' restaurant, the food that is served in this restaurant is exceptionally good. Breakfast and dinner had great prices and the food we were served was delicious. Special mention to Florin and his team who work exceptionally hard to ensure all their customers needs are looked after.

Just visited for a lunch on a Monday afternoon. I had the Katsu Curry and my partner had the steak tortilla. Both were exceptional, hot and full of flavour. The service was friendly and efficient and we look forward to visiting again, many times!!!!!
