Unfortunately had a very disappointing visit on Sunday. Only 4/5 meats on offer, undercooked potatoes and cabbage, burnt stuffing and yorkshires. Barely ate any of our food and attempted to gain the attention of a server to take our plates away and get the bill but we were clearly being avoided. Eventually got up to ask for the bill and explained I was unhappy with the meal. Sunday is the most expensive day to go for a carvery and it was the most disappointing I’ve ever had. I certainly wont be returning to this specific branch as I’ve had significantly better elsewhere. The only saving grace was the lady I spoke to after the meal to request my bill. She was very apologetic and seemed genuinely upset to hear we had a bad time.

Second visit yesterday. Food was lush - would give 5 stars but there was no red cabbage. Was served by the lovely Poppy who despite was working on her own kept the place running keeping everyone happy and looked after. Well done Poppy and thank you.

What an absolutely shame! Went there for Sunday lunch/roast. Venue: The place was packed and although we had a table booked we still had to wait around 10 minutes after for someone to clear a table for us. Firstly why have a booking system and allow reservations if you can’t insure availability of a table? What would have happened if those guests decided to stay longer? Food: The food was minimal and bad quality potatoes and veg. Undercooked veg from cauliflower to peas. The waiting line for the carvery was long and cramped at the back. Service: we let’s just say the lady tried. The server on the food side was so overwhelmed with trying to scrape some meat off a bone that it showed. Polite never the less. Price: yes although it a buffet style service, one feels over charged fir what you get on your plate and the fact one can go back for more veggies, you don’t because of the queue and there was none to start off with. Not a fan to say the least! Will we return, maybe on a weekday evening just to give them a second chance.

Food was tasty and great value. Very impressed with Jacob who was attentive and helpful.

I love Tobys, the quality of food is always high no matter when you go, unlike other places that that ive tried as it seems the busier they are the worse the quality gets but i never find that with Toby

We enjoyed our carveries so much, we came back 2 days later for breakfast. If only all Toby Carveries were this good .

Never have a problem with Toby carvery as the food is great value. I personally prefer the one at solstice services which I also reviewed! They were very busy when we went on a bank Holiday. Hence a little lower scores but overall I always think Toby is a solid 4 when you weigh value vs the food. Plenty of parking here and we got a table at the booked time even though it was very busy. Atmosphere is a little dented by the disgustingly massive platefuls some people take - you can go back for more veg so don't be greedy! Service was friendly but a little slow but as I said it was Bank Holiday.

Beef was fatty in the middle of the joint but server still served it rather than cut around it but the rest was lovely. Different prices depending what day you go. Error when paying tried to charge for 22 carvery’s not 2 which delayed us a bit on leaving.

August 22nd 2024 - What the hell happened here? Tiny Yorkshire puddings unlike normally at a Toby Carvery as if they had quickly buyed them from the tesco across the street not to mention the lack of veg available. Whatever went wrong this time they might want to make some different changes.

It was awful. We had zero service from the waitresses. We had to go to the bar to order our own food and drink. Didn’t take any notice of us. The seemed to seat us and forget about us. Chef couldn’t cut a decent slice of meat and the parsnips weren’t cooked enough. Gravy was left to run empty!

Service and food was great apart from the roasties which were disappointing to the point that all three of us left them!

Was served quite quick food was ok. not much vegetables to choose from as there was no cabbage or broccoli. When I finished I had to ask for the bill 3 different people for the bill and it wasn’t even that busy.

Went here with my son's for a morning breakfast (all you can eat) and we all enjoyed it the food was hot and tasty and the Yorkshire puds were a great addition. Would recommend.

Though we loved the British food experience, we did find it a little lacking in flavour. It needed some salt in the preparation, as adding after does not give the same flavour.

Ordered two adults turkey one child collected . when I got home i had received one adult one child one Yorkshire pudding three gravy and a few overdone roasties. contacted them and they said the would rectify the mistake. When I got home again they had given me gamon instead of turkey two soggy puddings and some extra vey that ended up in the bin .Total disaster and I paid just under £40 for this never again

Very friendly staff and clean eating area. Plenty of room. Went for breakfast, it's a pay one price and help yourself self service.

Unfortunately this is another failure of a trip to a Toby carvery and I'm afraid my last ever visit. This trip yet again to Trowbridge involved Hard carrots, yorkshires that had been sat all day before i got one, stuffing over cooked. So that's it no more Toby Carvery reviews as I won't be returning to one ever again. My prediction is the whole chain will go bust within a year. Standards have fallen to far

Great choice of food . Loved mashed potatoes. Roast potatoes tasted like they had been waiting too long. Could not see veggie option like a nut roast.

The food was disgraceful, well over cooked and tasteless. I genuinely don't think we have ever eaten worse food. This was my first visit to a toby in 15 years, My mistake thinking maybe things had changed i guess, followed by the staff that kept us waiting because 4 of them where to busy to chat around the bar. I have never ever had a restaurant experience so bad.

Roast potatoes were hard, Cauliflower cheese didn't taste like cheesy at all. There now weighing the plate and meat which seems silly. The waitress was lovely and the veg wasn't that bad, gravy was nice also. Just felt like the roast potatoes could of been better

Review based on Sunday 7th July 2024. I'm usually a big fan of Toby Carvery however this trip was a disappointing experience and I certainly won't be rushing back. Service was extremely slow, it took 15 minutes for our glasses to arrive, and 20 minutes from having our main to a waitress / waiter coming over to see if we wanted a dessert. Admittedly the desserts arrived quickly BUT they were certainly nothing to shout about. The ice cream sundaes had clearly been sat around for a while as were quite melted. The sticky toffee was dry and very bland and the chocolate cake was stone cold. The 'chef' behind the counter didn't know how to carve the meat, it was very butchered. The meat was extremely fatty and parts were inedible. Roast potatoes barely even roast potatoes. Carrots were like bricks. Peas like bullets. Best thing about it was the Yorkshire pudding and the gravy. All in extremely disappointing experience and I might add that the venue was not even 50% full so why the service was so slow I don't know!! Possibly just a bad day as before has always been good but I won't return to this one again!!

I was served a tiny slither of each meat even though i ordered the xl carvery. When i asked the server why it was such a small portion he told me it was because the other kitchen staff were prioritising the meat for their delivery orders and there was nothing he could do. Maybe avoid sundays if you want to go to this place because it cant handle the high demand.

We were slightly early. We had a table reserved but they managed to accommodate us even though they were busy. We didn’t have to wait.

Another nice roast dinner and no dishes to wash up just another thing I miss with living in western Australia.

28th June 2024.. Friday evening..loads of diners so many so we had a table for two. So hemmed in, no elbow room and you couldnt help overhearing everybodys conversations. FOOD...well first impressions looked ok...After Chef had weighed by beef ration i proceeded down the carvery, all going well. Until i got to the mashed potato, not only did it look like cardboard the consistency was exactly the same. Then came the gravy. I had to peel the skin off the top to get the ladle in. Bearing in mind this was only 6.30 pm, a busy time for tea time roasts. TAST TEST.... What Taste? Everything was the same flavour....resembled nothing not even the "well reputed" toby gravy.... We all tried the extra salt plan... but that didn't improve anything. The tasiest thing on our plates was the carefully rationed beef. What has happened to the flavours of all the different veg etc: All dissapeared in the steam..... Enjoy your food..

Food was nice but the Carvery was a bit sparse only pork and chicken available when at counter. But otherwise good place for a Sunday roast without the washing up.

Booked table for 8, arrived and told to find our own table to which there wasn’t any tables for 8. Then had to queue for 20 minutes for food. Then once food came out there wasn’t everything available.

Went for breakfast which is very cheap and you get what you pay for. Clean and tidy though and has good parking

Don't go there between 3 & 6pm no pork 1 day next to no meat the next day hard Yorkshire's not nice.

Our servers Iulia and Irina were verry profesional and kind, making sure we have everithing we need, Our carver Theo was also profesional greating us with a smiley face and serving us the best delicious food!!! Verry nice experiance and defenetly will be back!! Well done!!!

Toby Carvery was a favourite of our's until recently. Last night was the worst meal we have had. The turkey was dry and my visitor left it. There was no lamb so we were left with two choices. The vegetables were either dry or over done. We did get fresh cauliflower cheese. The gravy was luke warm. It seems that customers are an after thought as the staff seem more interested in getting their own tea. The one bright ray on all of this was the waitress, who we have had before and always gives us excellent service. We have been spoiled however by the Bridgend Toby Carvery who are streets ahead as a total brilliant experience in food and customer service.Please wake up Trowbridge and get back on track.

Had to wait a long time for our drinks and huge queue waiting for our food to be served. Roast potatoes very hard and no serviettes so burnt our hands on the serving tongs.

Had a great time food was nice but some stuff was dried up and burnt but otherwise nice unlimited drinks which were good ,some nice people.had a good time used a coupon for 2 kids 2 adults. Went on a Saturday so it was not busy, pretty much empty. Great value for money. Juicy meat: pork, lamb, gammon, turkey. Otherwise great food and great atmosphere, great staff. The desert was amazing ,tasted incredible highly recommend this restaurant!

Vegetables under cooked, meal as a whole was only Luke warm, barely edible!!!!!

Went for early breakfast 8.30am but was very disappointing, mushrooms were all dried up, the potato and bacon mix was brick hard and dry, eggs had broken yolks. Thought it would be all fresh and edible that early in the service, and the cup of tea was luke warm. Plus side the bacon slices were ok and the hash browns were nice

My husband and I went to the Trowbridge restaurant today , we were faced with burnt, dried meat, roast potatoes sitting in fat and dried veg , the food was lukewarm and even the gravy was just above warm very disappointed

Food dry meat very fatty sauce dishes empty and when we asked for more they put it in the same dish god knows how long they had been there daughter took food back to change beef when replaced it was still inedible all in all not good won't be going back and have cancelled my booking for 11th May

Hi whent with my family it was amazing the staff really looked after us thay let us swap tables and broets me some stuffing when thay ran out. The manager Steve was the best of them. The pork was the best out of all so was the Turkey not dairy or nothing.🍽🍴🍽🍴🥄🔪🥓🥩🍗🍖😁❤👍🤗

It was enjoyable. The member of staff was polite but I had to ask her for the disclaimer as I have to be gluten free. She did offer the allergen menu but I have had better staff there. Overall I enjoyed it.

Always a decent standard of food for the price irrelevant of which branch you visit. Service was a bit slow when we arrived here as there wasn't any staff around to seat us but once we were seated the staff were helpful enough.

The meat was lovely however the cauliflower cheese was terrible there was no cheese sauce and the cauliflower seemed raw and the same with the parsnips they we're terrible and so hard that I found them inedible the gravy was like water so I wouldn't recommend it to others as the price is quite high for very basic food

The food was better than I expected, but the table service was poor. We didn't get any drinks even though we asked on numerous times

Visited the Toby carvery in Trowbridge today. Greeted by friendly member of staff who was friendly and informative. The food was well presented and the server was very good. A great selection of meats and vegetables that were served hot. The location was clean and presentable. Would recommend and will visit again.

The food quality was good but a small portion of meat. The server was very good and attentive. Clean toilets.

Very disappointing that no fresh meat apart from turkey and potatoes available at 3.30 in the afternoon - only to be told after being sat down with drinks no more meat until 6pm. The other food left out looked dry and as it had been left out a while.. This was supposed to be a birthday meal and we have had to go elsewhere. Normally love Toby Carvery but am extremely not impressed today.

Rude chef some meat tough and dry veg seemed some had been sat for hrs 13.00 Yorkshire pudding I had over cooked ,waiting staff was nice then no one came with bill place almost empty so found someone in the end a lady who I'd seen quiet abit sat at the entrance on her mobile phone alot I'm guessing manger

Food was ok, the meat tho was not so good, the gammon was at the end of the joint and was mostly fat and one single tiny piece was placed on my plate, I asked for a dried up piece of meat that was on the serving tray (at least it was meat n not fat) the ‘chef’ put it on my plate and took the other piece off! The dried up piece was barely bigger than a £2 coin, : ( I then was served half a slice of Turkey and half a slice of the beef with an ‘attitude’ from the chef, the rest of the food was ok, a bit dried up, but edible, although the serving utensils had the temperature of molten metal I was able to use my sleeve to hold em … Service was lovely though by our waitress she was very polite and cheery. wishing my son a Happy Birthday So all in all disappointing food but nice waitress service

So, first the staff were amazing. Upbeat, positive, obviously enjoying their work. Onto the food, the meat (I had gammon) wax lovely, but the vegetables, roast potatoes, mac and cheese, stuffing...these were all not good enough...had been left out too long and were very dry . The Yorkshire puds were also too dry, biscuit like in texture

I recently visited Toby Carvery and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory.The quality of the food was subpar. The meats were overcooked and dry, lacking any flavor. The vegetables seemed like they had been sitting out for too long and were not fresh. We were highly disappointed with our experience and will most definitely not be returning anytime soon and I would not recommend it to anyone looking for a quality dining experience.

I always enjoy toby carvery it is the only place I will have a carvery although on this occasion I was a bit disappointed I don't get much chance to go on a Sunday and I was looking forward to having lamb but there was none left 7.30 isn't that late to eat so I expected all meats to be there

We went to this place today 29march the lady that served us was tryna she was so helpful and so pleasant she explained the breakfast so we will be there again sat morning great service great food we travelling from bham to stop a few days 👍

Clean and tidy we had a good breakfast and coffee

We had booked a table and was waited to be seated the lady had seen us but continued to different jobs. So another person had to get a someone else to seat us, i asked for a highchair in the booking but was not placed or told where they were. Asked for Pepsi refills but wasn't told the Pepsi had ran out. The food was awful, the vegetables looked old, the 'cauliflower cheese' was hard with no cheese flavour, the roast potatoes were cremated. And the meat was tasteless and chewy. The service after by what I believe was the manager was ver abrupt, she definitely needs more training. But the male manager and female staff member that helped with our bill was lovely. If it wasn't for them the service would be 0. Will not return and certainly won't recommend.

Food and atmosphere is always nice. Waitress served with a smile and was very pleasant, we were checked on several times to make sure we were enjoying our meal. The server for the carvery looked a little under pressure and we had to wait for a while until he came out to cut our meat.

We were made very welcome by the address and the waitresses. The food was beautiful. The cup of tea arrived in a pot which was lovely. The waitress asked if we were enjoying our food and if there was anything else she could do for us. We had a thoroughly good time and we feltvery valued this customers. As a disabled man in a wheelchair I felt they couldn’t do enough to help me and My Wife. Well done, Toby, carvery Trowbridge for making us happy

Our very first visit and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious, the young lady who looked after us, Helen was very helpful.

We took advantage of a midweek offer. The meat here is always cooked to our liking. There was Pork, gammon, turkey and beef to choose from and of course a super selection of vegetables and the tremendously tasty toby gravy with a selection of sauces. I had pork washed down with a nice glass of 19 crimes red wine, followed by apple pie and custard. My lovely wife had pork too, followed by the fruit crumble and custard, and a cup of tea. Yum!

Nice as always but massive wait for food. We were told 15 minutes for turkey but it was at least 45 minutes. Just about to leave when it arrived. Quality veg and tasty but a shame we had an uncharacteristically long wait.

We arrived about 30 mins early and it was quite busy but we just got a drink at the bar and only had to wait about 15 mins for our table. Staff were very polite and friendly and although busy nothing was too much trouble. Good selection of meats although the pork was a little dry. The server was also polite and when I asked for the off-cut, crispy bits of lamb he was more than happy to oblige. Food was hot and there was a great selection, including parsnips, roast and mash potatoes and lots of different veg. The veg may be a little undercooked for some but to be honest I don't like veg too well done (but cauliflower stems were a bit hard! We did wait a little while for dessert and for extra drink ordered but as we were not in a rush that was not really an issue. The queue for the carvery can be an issue and when the queue builds up people can be queuing into the dining area and standing by tables when you are eating. Either need to change the position of the queue or stagger people going up to get their food. Fortunately we times it perfectly and joined the queue before it got too long.

Plates were cold, veg was lukewarm and veg choice was not to your usual standards

First time I've been disappointed with a Toby. Maybe just a bad night, but 2 of of 3 of the staff we encountered really didn't want to be there. Smile more....

The service we received from all staff we encountered was really good. The food and its presentation was lovely, good food and at a good price. I noted the chair seat covers were stained, I have visited this particular Toby carvery many times. On this occasion I was a little disappointed to find the seat covers were grimy, even 5hugh there had been an attempt to keep them.clean. I understand its difficult with children and adults dropping food, but maybe their restaurant could do with a little help to replace these item. I will continue to go to this Toby carvery as I appreciate the service by the staff. In all other respects the restaurant is very clean and tidy.

Finally a Toby’s that does roast potatoes right! From arrival to leaving best experience I’ve ever had in a toby’s. Steve was fantastic! Even my pre teen daughter made the comment “he’s very chirpy” words I’ve never heard her say. And our server ( I forgot her name sorry!) was also very professional and polite! Great service all around, get more people in like this!

Turning people away with 6 people in there the manager/supervisor and two other staff were pissed and had handwritten a sign outside saying were only taking reservations, went outside and reserved online and was supervisor rude as hell! This was Saturday afternoon!
