Nice country pub with food. The pate starter I had was small and basic, but in fairness very tasty. I had muscle linguine as a main that was served in a frightening hot bowl that continued to cook and dry out the food. The pasta was served with a heap of parmesan on the top which was not mentioned on the menu and made it very cheesy. Friendly service but the chef is best kept in the kitchen and not customer facing. Worth a visit if you're in the area.

We were looking for a light lunch as we intended to eat a main meal in the evening. Unusually we took the leap and climbed two flights of stairs to the delightful cafe on 2 nd floor overlooking the Parade The staff were super friendly and made us feel very welcome. Two of the party had a variety of Ploughmans lunch the cheese was ample and the ham was thick gammon ham. I ate a smoked mackerel salad delicious. The fourth had a prawn sandwich with a glass of wine. Highly recommend for all.

We were visiting the steam railway station in Minehead and thought we’d try the cafe there. Such a shame we did. The offerings are simple and that’s okay but £5 for a pasty that you’ve just heated up seems extortionate, maybe just a little side salad to jazz this up to show some kind of effort rather than plonked on a plate? That aside it was quiet and every table was dirty. I was greeted by a polite young man so asked him to clean the table, he sauntered over with a tea towel draped over his shoulder and which he then proceeded to wipe our table with said cloth…. He returned to mauling his, I presume, girlfriend at the counter, I guess under the guise of training her how to use the coffee machine. As the coffee I received was insipid with clearly burnt milk and absolutely no form of latte art I do not know how he would be able to do this. Between constant canoodling and darting back and forth to grab a drink and crisps , which he ate at the counter, and licked his fingers, and you are correct those fingers went onto the coffee machine and onto cups, I’m not sure if he was in fact working. Perhaps he is a volunteer but a thousand hygiene concerns were flagged up in front of my eyes, and with the unprofessional manner of groping his girlfriend and eating in front of me I felt sick. Please teach this young boy! Certainly no managers around to tell him. I won’t be returning!

We visited Minehead with our dogs knowing we would be looking for somewhere to have lunch; we spotted The Old Ship Aground, parked up returned to the pub got seated and went to the bar to order, only to be told the kitchen had just finished. A chap behind the bar counter immediately called across, "if that's table 25 that's fine the kitchens aware"; or words to that effect. So lunch was saved! Firstly; thank you for being so obliging and keeping the kitchen open for us; secondly, the burgers were great just what we wanted, and lasted thank you for being dog friendly. Your helpful manner, all round friendliness, positivity, professional attitude and welcome were all noted and appreciated. Great lunchtime experience

Came here for the first time for pre-Xmas drinks with partner and family after seeing reviews online. I’ve lived locally for 29 years and never stepped foot in here but glad we did. Lovely atmosphere, fire lit, nice drinks and wonderful food. Even better that they offer gluten free food. Came back a few times for lunch with both my MIL and my partner and kids-enjoyed it every time.
