Macaubas is one of the more refined restaurants in minehead, with happy friendly staff only to eger to serve you, with a more than over the top menu in food and drinks open five days a week. Just renewed lease for the next three years, and sadly it will probably be the end of the road after that. (A sad loss to Minehead. )

Great food unhappy staff, not a very warm welcome from the staff who really look like they don’t want to be there! No ‘how was your food’, 15 minutes after finishing our mains nobody asked us if we wanted a desert which we did! Went to pay, not a smile. Such a shame as the home cooked food was great and would have got 5* but the reviews I wrote are based on the whole experience. The owner is missing out on customer due to the poor service as tables are not being turned round quickly enough, we say 9 people look in and walk away due to restricted seats and if the staff cleared away quicker they would do 20 or so more covers a day. Will be back for the food just not the experience.

We were so glad we found Mr Macawbers. It was by far the best meal out we have had all year. I had the cottage pie, and my husband had ham, egg, and chips it was all gorgeous the ham was thick and a big slice. All cooked to perfection. The desserts also lovely the raspberry pavlova superb. Nice friendly atmosphere. All in all, it's a great place. Definitely going back.

Been visiting Minehead for 20 years and never been here but a sudden downpour drove me in! Best 'proper' cooked meal in years. Un-messed up British traditional cooking at its best, how it used to be. Proper veg cooked to perfection, salmon, followed by the best fresh fruit salad artistically arranged, ice cream on the side, value for money, served with a smile, and best of all, no 'Demolition Music' just gentle Classic FM in the background coupled with 'people watching' from my window side table down to the street below. A staff member even carried my shopping trolley downstairs for me as I have a disability.

Absolutely love this place so make a special “mission” 35 miles from Barnstaple to meet here with friends. The slight drawback is that it is often full, which obviously speaks for itself, and for some the absence of a lift.

Looking for somewhere for lunch came across this lovely cafe. A friendly welcome in spotless premises, reasonable to assume covid safe. Partner had ham & pineapple jacket potatoe and commented that the ham was lovely. I had cheese sandwiches and it was no trouble for them to add some onion. The sandwich filling was very generous. Although we didn't opt for sweets there was a tempting menu, very reasonably priced and the establishment is also licensed. Overall, definately worth recommending. Sadly, I had to deduct one star as the toilets, spotless as they were, only offered a single towel when washing hands. Single use paper towels would have been far better in these covid times. Nonetheless, that won't put us off returning.

In Minehead for the day this week and was looking for a place for lunch. Saw a doorway as I was walking along and saw several people going inside. My curiosity got the better of me when arrived there realised it was a restaurant the menu looked good. And I believe if you see a lot of people going inside it means the food is good. And II wasn’t disappointed.I had a prawn mayonnaise with baked potato and salad .This was a large portion with 1 and ahalf potatoes, my husband had fresh salmon in tarragon sauce with sautéed potatoes and vegetables which we both thoroughly enjoyed. The restaurant is licensed so you can get a drink if you want to and bottles of wine.We had coffees as both of us intended to drive. The waiter who served us was polite and very efficient and served us quickly as we didn’t have much time on our parking. All in all a very good meal reasonably priced.

Having driven around Minehead looking for somewhere to park we found one space on The Avenue and then saw that we were outside Mr Micawber's. A very happy chance discovery! How many places these days can produce lunch for two - very good food at a total cost of £20 - within the permitted parking time of one hour? Service was friendly, prompt and very efficient. Sadly we don't expect to be in the area again in the near future but we would be happy to return to Mr Micawber's some day. It's good to know that "old fashioned" places like this can still be found.

We had a day out in Minehead and looked at various places for lunch. We chose Mr Micawbers. It was what I would call a good old fashioned restaurant serving traditional English foods. These are becoming a dying breed. Cottage pie and veg, Lambs liver with veg, Crumble and custard and bread and butter pudding with ice cream, plus a pot of tea for 2, less than £25. Food looked and tasted fresh and home made. Service was good, quick and very friendly staff. Have made a note to return the next time we are in Minehead. There are several stairs to climb, so not good for wheelchairs or someone with difficulties to climb stairs.

This is local to us and a restaurant we use on a regular basis so I thought it was about time I did a review! It is upstairs which for some may prove a challenge but apart from this everything is positive. It is open all year round and used by many locals and in the season is popular with visitors. The menu is extensive and caters for a wide range of tastes, eg. there is always a fish, meat and veggie dishes on offer as well as soup and other light snacks at lunch time. These change daily and are all home cooked on the premises as are the delicious sweets, in fact there is such a choice it is often hard to choose! They also serve a good range of hot beverages and cake so a good place to meet friends for coffee and a catch up or in the afternoon a delicious cream tea again with their homemade cake which is hard to resist. We often take visiting friends here and we know we will always receive excellent service and value for money. From the tables by the windows you have a good view of the Parade but the down side is that you cannot reserve a table. We look forward to many more visits!

Nice country pub with food. The pate starter I had was small and basic, but in fairness very tasty. I had muscle linguine as a main that was served in a frightening hot bowl that continued to cook and dry out the food. The pasta was served with a heap of parmesan on the top which was not mentioned on the menu and made it very cheesy. Friendly service but the chef is best kept in the kitchen and not customer facing. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
