Unfortunately, due to illness, we haven't been able to make our usual annual visit to Exmoor this year but having chanced upon Pulham's Mill several years ago it's always a must for us to visit when we go. We & our friends, absolutely love the place, the old & atmospheric building, warm welcome when we walk in, dear & friendly old dog, -- still around? Lovely selection of gifts & crafts old & new, delicious food beautifully presented. A real old fashioned place. Long may it stay the same! Looking forward to visiting again.

Good location and a fascinating mixture or new, old, craft and fine craft items for sale with some home made food at the cafe with a great garden. It is not sparkly and pristine but genuine and has been with the current owners since inception, if you love other peoples passions then this is a real treat.

I’ve read some of the negative reviews on here and they are absolute rubbish 😂. My brother and I stumbled upon this place two rainy summers ago and loved it then. We came back to pick up some takeaway cake. The lemon cake is the best I have had. The banana cake & Victoria sponge were also excellent. It’s a special quirky and charming place with super people running it. A relaxed and easy going atmosphere.

Whilst visiting Exmoor in the summer, we decided to venture out and the owners of the holiday cottage we were staying at recommended a visit to Pullman's Mill for a cream tea. We arrived to a less than warm reception from an old gentleman who seemed to be the owner. After being told to sit 'wherever', we chose a seat over looking the small but quaint garden. The setting itself is very lovely, it's a shame that the tea room didn't live up to the expectation. We ended up ordering a sandwich and a pot of tea. The teacups were recently stained in drips of tea on the outside of the cup and after drinking the tea were very visibly stained with old tea.The bread used for the sandwiches had seen better days and was almost stale. As another review has mentioned, there was a mangy old dog freely moving in and out of the food prep area, and had we seen this before eating, we would not have ordered to eat. The cakes on display looked Ok but again on closer inspection, seemed to have been there a while. The place looked like it really needed a good clean! It wouldn't take much to get this place serving great food and looking the part. We wouldn't recommend a visit and won't be visiting ourselves again.

Happened upon this restaurant on a visit to Wimbleball lake with our pointer. We were very hungry and tempted by the homemade venison casserole, we were not disappointed. It was just the thing before a autumn walk around the lake. We received a friendly welcome and allowed us to bring our dog into a small area at the rear of the restaurant. This does not suit everyone but we were glad if it. When we visit the lake again we will be back.

After several recommendations from friends my husband and I decided to call in for lunch. We parked the car and had a "meet and greet" with the very friendly dog Millie who with a constantly wagging tail escorted us along the lane and took us to the front door! We stepped inside and weren't disappointed. We had a very friendly welcome and felt at home straight away. My hubbie ordered a pork casserole and I ordered a cheddar ploughmans, wow! The portions were very generous and absolutely delicious. The atmosphere was very relaxed and homely and we could of stayed all afternoon! Although we were both full from lunch we spied the homemade cakes and thought they looked too good to resist...they were! One huge slice of Victoria sponge and a slice of coffee cake later and we were well and truly stuffed!! The resident cat Mr Treacle made an appearance and sat purring on my lap which being a cat lover was a lovely treat. When we left we were escorted back to the car by Millie with her wagging tail! An absolutely beautiful place and we are planning our next visit. Thank you to all at Pulhams Mill ☺

Just meandering along a lane towards Dulverton, we came across Pulhams Mill, fancied a coffee and decided to stop because it intrigued us. There's a cafe...snacks and meals which all seemed to be home cooked. A quirky shop with an eclectic mix of crafts and gifts...but most interesting is the shop showcasing the considerable talents of the owners: Ian Mawby, a bespoke furniture maker and his wife, Pauline Clement who produces hand painted crockery. If you're in the area, it is worth a visit. They also have self catering accommodation.

we found Pulhams Mill completely by chance, after leaving Wimbleball Lake looking for a place where to have some soup, afternoon tea and cake.we decided to stop and check the menu (traveling with our 2 year old daughter sometimes the menu does matter). we immediately fell in love with it. to get to the restaurant you need to go through the arts and crafts shop, with a lot of the items manufactured by the owners themselves or by locals/neighbors.in the restaurant, we had homemade soup, tea and cake (tried 5 different ones, plus the mince pies as it was early December) - it was all delicious. at some point during the meal, the owner brought us a photo album and told us a little bit about the story of the place, from the fact it was originally built around 1000 years ago, to the extent of the renovation works they had undertaken since buying the Mill nearly 4 decades ago.the whole place felt magical and we spent two fantastic hours, eating, speaking to the owners and exploring the shop.highly recommended!!!

Sunday lunch at Pulhams Mill in the tiny village of Brompton Regis is a treat not to be missed. The hosts and the building are so welcoming and a little quirky. Mill been there since 1086 seemingly and the river runs alongside as you would expect making for a very pretty and atmospheric place to eat. There's fine woodwork and illustrated painted China to buy that the host and hostess do, as well as cards and scarves and woollen items for sale.Back to the food - Sunday lunch is divine - you can have starters and puds which are all homemade including the bread. The meats are lovely - roast beef and roast pork tried thus far - will be returning to try other offerings as and when.A visit on a weekday meant I had homemade chicken curry - brilliant with little accompaniments and fluffy rice. I also really coveted the homemade soup, lasagne and caramelised onion tartlets that my family members enjoyed. All in all, a super and extremely special little place to spend a few hours.

We had this place recommended and so visited for lunch. We found the cheese scones had all gone already by 1pm so we both went for soup. Only a choice of 2, both vegetable based. The soup was fine and came with a hot roll served in a small glower pot, however it took nearly half an hour to come. Then we ordered a coffee and an ice cream, again we had to wait over 15 minutes for these, the ice cream was good but came in just a basic wafer cone, the cafetière was broken and we could not get all the coffee out.I think this place should be ok but we must have gone on an off day.We were also annoyed by the owners dog who would not leave us alone constantly putting wet stones on our seat for us to throw.

unusual, unique, quirky, a bit new age hippy - but welcoming. HOMEMADE food, the owner is not only a great cook, but really cares about the food. Small menu and constantly changing, we had plenty to choose from and our kids loved the homemade bread in little plant pots. My soup was just wonderful, hubby had a chicken, chorizo and rice dish - served with lots of veg. Chocolate cake. Tasty coffee (2nd cup was on the house). Really enjoyed our visit and would like to go back again and try more. This is NOT a chain, not high brow - more like a workshop/shop with good food.

We recently holidayed near Upton, Devon & came across some very quirky tea rooms called Pulhams Mill. However it was much more than tea rooms. We visited 3 times: first whilst walking on a near by public footpath, we then decided to go back a second time for afternoon cream tea. Scones were the best we've ever had & the staff are so friendly. Everything is home made on the premises, cakes, savoury pancakes, chilli, casserole and on the third visit we sampled the home made soup. What a delight presented with home made flowerpot bread. You can actually see them making all the food, from scratch in the kitchen. It is so much more than tea rooms, locally made products for sale including pottery & furniture. Highly recommended, so reasonably priced - just wish I lived nearer!

My daughter and I stumbled across this place by accident a couple of years ago while having one of those 'exploring' afternoons! It appealed to us straight away as it is not your run of the mill type of place (thank heavens) and has it's own unique quirkiness. Really cosy with charming owners who give a warm welcome as you are sat at one of the sweet tables with china which incidentally is hand painted by 'the lady of the house'.There is a fine selection of home made cakes as well as several lunch options all of which are delicious and are not restricted to only being served at certain times which is a huge plus point as far as I am concerned. As well as the tea room there is the barn which houses all sorts of arts and crafts as well as the beautiful wooden furniture made there and well worth a look. Above all and most importantly for us a s a family of animal lovers, are their very friendly dog Millie and the charming Mr Treacle - a lovely ginger cat. Please give it a try - I'm sure you'll enjoy it and note they also host events during the year which are worth looking out for. We will certainly keep going back and wish them a hugely successful and prosperous new year.

I had morning coffee in this hidden gem last week. It's the most charming TINY place tucked away in deepest Somerset. I have been for lunch several times before and always welcome the opportunity to introduce new friends to it. Because it's all made to order, the service is, ok, a little slow, but it's worth a little wait: the food, usually locally sourced, is delicious. Two of us had the nut roast and two the roast beef and everyone agreed that the quality was just excellent. The veggies were done perfectly and were provided in generous quantities. The roast pepper soup was one of the most attractive looking and tasting I've had for some time and the enormous slice of treacle tart delicious. Including soft drinks and coffees the total bill for three courses for four of us was very reasonable indeed. We came across this lovely haven quite accidentally after a bracing walk alongside Wimbleball Lake. We had designs on finding a pub, but saw this amazing former water mill as we approached Brompton Regis. It certainly appealed to my quirky nature, and I wasn't disappointed by all the curios and gifts and beautiful hand made furniture and hand painted ceramics. The light lunch and cream tea which we were seeking was good honest food. The bread that accompanied the hearty vegetable soup had been baked in a miniature flower pot. Paul had Wortleberry jam on his cream crusted scone (still warm!) we will certainly return, maybe for one of their famous Sunday lunches. Ian and Pauline are that most rare and precious kind of host as they make you feel right at home. After all, as they say themselves, Pulham Mill is more than a business to them .its a way of life.

Macaubas is one of the more refined restaurants in minehead, with happy friendly staff only to eger to serve you, with a more than over the top menu in food and drinks open five days a week. Just renewed lease for the next three years, and sadly it will probably be the end of the road after that. (A sad loss to Minehead. )

Nice country pub with food. The pate starter I had was small and basic, but in fairness very tasty. I had muscle linguine as a main that was served in a frightening hot bowl that continued to cook and dry out the food. The pasta was served with a heap of parmesan on the top which was not mentioned on the menu and made it very cheesy. Friendly service but the chef is best kept in the kitchen and not customer facing. Worth a visit if you're in the area.
