What an absolute find. So pleased we didn’t stop along the main high street of Tewkesbury and instead headed towards the Abbey. The tea rooms are unique, and definitely worth the visit. Forget Costas/and all the run of the mill venues and support local. Our lunch was tasty, and our surroundings beautiful.

El viernes comenzamos a comer sándwiches crujientes de tocino y aguacate en la oficina y es un excelente comienzo para el día. Gran servicio increíble tocino.

We went in for breakfast/brunch. The staff were friendly. It was very busy. We sat on the top floor. 4 level. Drinks were served promptly. The food took about 30 minutes for 3 of us, the other had to wait a further 10 minutes for his breakfast. He was offered an extra drink while waiting. The food was great. Tasty and good portion size. I had to ask 2 staff for a take away box before I got it. The first person was asked and said he would but did not deliver.

We were very excited to go to this restaurant as part of out stay at Buckland Manor Hotel (separate review for that experience). The ambience is quintessential Cotswolds charm. One is presented with wine lists and menus to peruse and they then take your order in one of the delightful lounges before ushering you into the beautiful dining room. A carpeted, elegant room which allows for a delightfully quiet dining experience - rare these days in many places with hard furnishings, loud (awful) music and raucous clientele. What unfolded however did not meet expectations. The menu was limited, consisting of 4 options for each of the 3 courses on offer. There were 4 of us so we sampled everything on offer. It was all excellent in terms of taste, BUT the food was tepid at best and the portion sizes ludicrously small - especially for the price. I thought perhaps we had ordered from the children’s menu, but these portions would not have been enough food to satisfy even a child. The service was also rather limited. There were only three other tables of guests and the 3 waiters were nowhere to be seen much of the time. This left us to pour our own drinks and at one point having to wait for a waiter to appear so we could get the remaining white wine served - they had not left the bottle near our table for us to help ourselves. The cheese course was supposed to feature 6 cheeses but only 5 were presented as the 6th had run out and no substitute was offered - the price didn’t change despite the depletion. This restaurant and chef may well be dreaming of a Michelin star but they need to meet some standard of excellence in value for money ad well as taste of food. This might be the first time you need to bring a doggy bag of food with you into the restaurant as you will definitely not have food left on your plate to warrant leaving with one.

Thankyou Kristy and Giles for accommodating our party of 13 today for our Book Club Christmas meal. We had a lovely afternoon. The food was excellent as always served to us by yourselves and your lovely, attentive and friendly staff. We wish you a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.

Really friendly local pub that we picked for a family get together. Sunday roasts were abundant, good value, and tasty (with a lifetime supply of gravy). Incredible hospitable and friendly landlord who helped make it a really memorable time. We'll definitely consider it again if we're in the area. And a skittle alley!
