Chose Ye Old Hobnails for a Sunday roast as we have been before and it was excellent but not sure what’s happened change of ownership, management and staff? Booked a table for 4 with a young child which we had to squeeze into an area which wasn’t comfortable, we ordered our food which came promptly which was fine, I had to ask for the rest of the trimmings ie stuffing and crackling as it hadn’t turned up. We had Pork and Beef it was presented nicely but only two small slices of meat and potatoes on each plate 1 small dish of mixed veg and 1 cauliflower cheese for the 4 of us. The roast potatoes were under cooked other mixed veg was ok the only thing that was tasty was the cauliflower cheese. We were all very disappointed with our meal and for £74 felt very much out of pocket. Such a shame that it’s gone downhill as it used to be fantastic food we will not be going back, we didn’t complain like true Brits as we didn’t want the hassle I paid and promptly left.

My first time eating at The Hobnails and I wasn't disappointed. I have a big appetite so I had the mixed grill and struggled to finish it. The portion size was huge and all the food was cooked to perfection. My wife had the fish and chips which was enormous. We also had our dog with us (large boxer), he was welcomed inside by Bill with a bowl of water and 2 gravy bones along with the doggy menu! Awesome 👍 My daughter played on the outdoor play area while we sat and having a after dinner drinks in the sun. Honestly couldn't have made all of us feel anymore welcome. Can't wait to return

Party of 8 of us with a small dog. We had booked and arrived for 6.30pm. Man behind bar brusquely told us to sit outside with the dog. It was a glorious hot evening so that was no hardship. Ordered and paid at bar within 10 minutes of our arrival. 1 person served halloumi salad quite quickly. Other 7 waited well over an hour for food and that was only after one of us had been to enquire where it was. He was told "you only ordered half an hour ago" but at enquiry they'd already been waiting an hour - time of order was on the receipts! Food actually very good. Staff rude. Wait for food ridiculously long.

Came in with my walking group and was very impressed with the staff and food. The manager opened up for us to order before the walk – a surprising number of pubs don’t bother. After a hot walk, the staff were very welcoming. They showed us where to sit in the beautiful garden for shade and brought our much-needed drinks order promptly. I didn’t eat but the food that came out was beautifully presented and tasty. Those of us who hadn’t ordered wish we had!Based on this experience, I intend to go back for an evening meal.

Arrived at this rustic historic inn to the aroma of a warming wood fire and were welcomed by the affable young Jack. We were escorted to our table passed the well stocked bar where I noticed a fine selection of non-alcoholic drinks, a pleasant change for the driver, so charged my glass with a Weston's 0.5 Stowford Press. Food order was taken promptly and we ordered two piping hot soups of the day (broccoli & stilton/rustic bread) and the stilton button mushrooms on french toast with a piquant creamy sauce. To follow, a fine rump steak grilled to perfection and ham, eggs 'n' chips. Sadly, the popular sea bass had sold out, but the accomodating chef conjured up a cod, potato and dill masterpiece with a lemon sauce. We were too full for pud, but we shall certainly be returning to see Jack and his friendly crew. First class.

We visited the Hobnails when it was taken over, service was poor, meals mixed up, took nearly an hour to come out although only a few other people in. 4 out of 6 meals were cold. Just wrote it off to teething issues. Went back Monday 10th August with my children. Only 1 other family there. Ordered meals all seemed better until they started to arrive. We ordered 2 burger meals, 2 fish and chips and 1 fish cake meal so nothing complex or frilly. It took 15 minutes from the first meal to the last one to arrive. The fish was curled up and dry, the burgers.....well were do I start!.....Why on earth serve a small burger in a massive flour bun, you could of fitted 3 burgers in it and still have loads of bun around it. Then for the fish cakes....ok they tasted ok but came on a bed of slimey lettuce and what can only be described as what looked like a child had cut the cucumber with a chunky plastic knife, nibbled on the slices and chucked into a bowl. Back to the lettuce.....ok prepacked you very occasionally get a piece that has seen better days but you do not expect to be served what can only be decribed as pond algae attached to the lettuce.Spoke to the server which offered a free pudding Just wish I hadn't paid when I ordered. 2 out of 5 of us ending up spending the next few hours on the porcelain pottyWill NOT return NOR recommend that place to anybodyI guess the fact that it was Monday tea time whilst meals had upto £10 off and they were practically empty apart from my family and the other poor people speaks volumes when surrounding places were fully booked

Booked ahead and arrived 5 mins before our slot. Several others arrived just before and after us who had not booked and were also given tables. At 6pm there only appeared to be 2 people staffing the place, one of them a chef and it took some time before our order was taken. I was impressed at this stage as the guy from the kitchen actually told the waitress to take our order first as we had booked and the others hadn't. Several more staff arrived at 6.30 not that the service improved because of this.Sadly, it went downhill after that. A couple sat on the next table to us obviously got fed up with waiting to be served and went to the bar to place their order (after our had been taken). I'm not generally impatient and I understand that everyone is getting to grips with new regimes, however, to be completely overlooked after one member of staff had pointed out that we were the only ones who had booked was a bit frustrating.Eventually, I did ask where our food was and lo and behold it arrived a few minutes later. More interesting was the fact that the couple on the table next to us had noticed that they had ordered after us and had their starters and mains before we saw any food on our table and they felt the need to highlight this to the waitress and suggested we should be given a complementary dessert. There was not a hint of an apology as a result of that, in fact the waitress they highlighted the matter to said they wouldn't do anything for us!! When a different waitress came to clear the table and asked if everything was ok I felt justified to mention my disappointment of an hours wait........"I'm sorry" that was it!Service aside the food was good.

I had Mushrooms with Stilton to start and was blown away normally anything paired with Stilton very easily looses its own identity but not in this dish the flavours were balanced perfectly my compliments to the chef. My chicken ceaser salad was lovely and I was very pleased when as asked the dressing came on the side. First time visiting ye olde Hobnails, found the service quite slow even even on a quiet evening, on two occasions a member of staff attended our table and no offer of a refill for drinks. Large roaring fire was not lit upon entrance as other reviews have described. Starters were of a good standard and tasty although items missing of main course was a disappointment. No check back was provided throughout our meal which was also disappointing. Refurbishment has been completed to a high standard however I was surprised to find no Waste bins in any of the toilets, especially disabled. Will possibly try again in the future.

As soon as we walked through the door, we was greeted by some very friendly and smart looking staff, place looks amazing inside as there’s separate seating areas as well as a bar seating area :) food was outstanding especially for the price and drinks were fairly cheap too, was not disappointed in the slightest and will be coming back every chance I get :)

Recently re-opened after being taken over and refurbished. Haven't been for a couple of years, after the place really went downhill, but after reading reviews on social media we decided to give it a go, and Im so glad we did. The welcome was friendly, the refurb has made the place feel fresh and warm and the food was fantastic. I never knew a rump steak bap could taste so good, the burger was fresh and not at all dry and the homemade cheesecake and sticky toffee pud was out of this world. It is nice to see the kids meals coming out of the kitchen looking good too. Far too many places stick fish fingers in the oven and that is the extent of catering for little ones, but the fish goujons were actually home made and contained actual fish and not fish mush! We will be returning, without a shadow of a doubt, and would highly recommend giving it a try.

We popped by today for the first time since this pub was re-opened and I am so pleased we did! I had a great lamb roast followed by delicious homemade creme brulee: the vegetables served with lunch were gorgeous as was the braised red cabbage, and the homemade biscuits with dessert were superb. This is a lovely pub offering great food with attentive service. I will definitely return soon.

A really nice refurbishment - much needed. Now a nice country pub. What stood out for me was the service - a nice welcome, good service throughout. This is a real differentiation from the other local pubs currently. Food is good - pub food with a bit of flair. Our food took quite a long time to come, but the pub has only been open a few weeks, so nothing major. Will be back!

We haven’t been here for a number years due to the poor quality on recent visits but pleased to report that the new owners, a pub chain, have made a positive difference. The welcome was warm and friendly, but the table itself location was somewhat cold as not by a radiator or fire. The menu had a good choice but not over fussy, standard fare but with a bit of flair. Generally the food was of a good standard and served promptly and well presented. Reasonable value so overall would recommend a visit and we will be returning.

Booked a meal for myself and hubby on Saturday evening. New owners have done a fantastic job with the refurbishment, lovely open fire, nice large bar, loved the smaller dining areas ie the cottage, the larder, the library etc to eat in, very quirky and oldy worldy! Food was equally amazing, great portions, very tasty and nicely presented. Great friendly staff and excellent service. Couldn't fault any of it - will definitely be returning (this week actually)! Well done everyone!

We heard it had reopened a week ago under new management so went to check it out. Very welcoming and friendly. The carvery section is no more but it didn't matter as it turned out. There were four of us and we all really enjoyed our meals which were very well presented and actually very good value. I personally tried the battered cod and chips, which comes in three sizes, normal, large and XXL. I went for large as I thought the middle size would be about right. It turned out to be a huge piece of very good cod, well battered and very tasty. I can't imagine what the XXL would look like but it would be too much for me. The others with me had the Sunday roast beef with a selection of vegetables which they all said was excellent. The sticky toffee pudding was excellent too. Glad the Hobnails is back, we will be back too.

My wife and I visited the Hobnails Inn which has recently been refurbished. The building has been totally renovated and the new owners have done a fantastic job. Despite the fact it is a big pub, It is warm and welcoming with a great open fire as you enter, the pub is full of character with oak beams and quirky areas where you can sit in comfort and eat. The menu is varied and has a great choice. The quality of the food is a cut above many restaurants and we enjoyed it very much. There is a good choice of real ales and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. We'll worth a visit, we will be back soon.

A couple of years ago, this place was incredibly good, we went a few times. This year we called by again last month. How awful to see such a cracking place closed completely on a sunny lunchtime. The interior is a priceless gem. I understand the family sold it. It Appears the new owners unfortunately couldn’t keep it going. Such a shame. Here’s hoping we won’t lose the historical treasure that is the interior.

poorly trained kids, poor food, few customers, no atmosphere. this years ago under private family ownership was a sensational pub with shredded steak and onions or mushrooms in baps. customers came from miles around, i can remember waiting to get a car park space before my lunch. every landlord since has allowed this great pub to end up as a total waste of time.

Thought I would give the place another go after last time but wish I hadn't bothered. Bar staff as miserable as sin with sour faces . Bar swimming in drink and dirty glasses everywhere. Tables throughout the pub not cleared from people eating earlier . Food disgusting-some veg trays empty waiting to be refilled and meat could sole your shoes . I see the pubs up for sale so if there are prospective buyers reading this - please close the place down and start again but this time with a complete new workforce then maybe , just maybe you can make this the best local carvery instead of the worse for miles around .

Really friendly local pub that we picked for a family get together. Sunday roasts were abundant, good value, and tasty (with a lifetime supply of gravy). Incredible hospitable and friendly landlord who helped make it a really memorable time. We'll definitely consider it again if we're in the area. And a skittle alley!

On street parking reasonably close by, very dogfriendly, with a great and varied menu which suited my vegetarian partner. We both had the all day breakfast, mine meaty and my partner’s veggie, which was not just fantastically cooked in the oven, but very reasonably priced with large portions…we were going to have one of the many lovely specials as a dessert but were simply too full. The decor and theme were interesting, the music was a reasonable volume and entirely to our liking (jazz), and the service was friendly and spot on. I cannot recommend this place too much. Our only disappointment was that we discovered it on the last day of our holiday, if we come back to Tewky, we will definitely return to this wonderful café.

I have had nothing but good dinning at the Manor and the atmosphere is a lot calmer being off the more trodden path. As the summer flowers finish at the end of summer the autumn show of fungi is just starting. And as the Cotswolds have some really old woodlands they also have a very varied display of fungi. This recent deluge of rain hails a good show. Don't leave it too long or the restaurateurs will have beaten you you it and there will be nothing to photograph. We called here for luncheon after a long morning. It was the 3rd day of sunshine in a row so we chose a table on the terrace without shade near enough to the wisteria to catch its scent on the breeze all afternoon. The food was impeccable and the staff were polite, friendly and engaging. We didn't stay overnight so can't comment on the rooms, but the manor house is a well kept example of the local architecture and the decor is well kept. The gardens look amazing especially with all the rain this spring, the gardeners have been very busy. The formal gardens lead upto a nice walk in a natural broadleaf woodland up the hill with some beautiful views of the surrounding area. I highly recommend you visit but book in advance as it is obviously very busy. A nice way to treat yourself
