This is the best cocktail bar in town. The guys here are the top notch crew. I come down here as I live quite close. The pressure is on due to the time of year. The manager, obviously stressed, but still gave me eye contact and smiled. 5☆. I'm an elderly woman enjoying a glass of wine but I don't feel awkward or that I shouldn't be here. I've worked in night clubs and bars for 52 years and yes I did lie about my age but these guys have it sorted. I cannot recommend them enough.

We ate in the magnificently decorated bar and my choice of food, the venison steak was pretty good. The service staff were very pleasant and the bar had a choice of excellent cask ale. It is probably not the cheapest place around, but we were pleased to have found it and had a very nice meal.

Visited the Swindon Hub cafe for a craft day. Safe, friendly and helpful new café in Swindon. Local crafts and info point. NIce new place in Swindon to escape, on the Parade.

We had a great stay along with a meal and drinks. The Village Inn is excellent. They were very friendly and chatty to us, with the Landlady telling us lots of interesting things. Super cheap. Quick service. Nice food. And Liddington is a real chocolate box village with thatched cottages, just between the Marlborough Downs and Swindon. It you want an enjoyable trip, cannot recommend to too highly. We can't wait to be back. And especially good if you are veggie or vegan or a pet owner, however get the impression that they would do anything for anyone to make them feel at home.

Today I had one of the best roast lunches ever. It was delicious. I had roast pork belly which was beautifully tender and wrapped in fabulous pork crackling. With this I had crunchy roast potatoes, parsnips, cabbage, carrots, cauliflower cheese (this was an add on) Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The food was piping hot.

A proper, genuine pub. No gloss or glitz. Good range of beers and ciders at great prices. All below £5. For me, the only reason to visit Swindon.

This is a very nice pub but called in for drinks at 3pm on a Saturday. Struggled to find a table as minority occupied or mostly reserved but empty . Two hours later the majority of the reserved tables were still unoccupied . Poor management in my view.

Had an absolutely amazing Sunday dinner here — cooked to perfection! The food was delicious, everything tasted fresh and full of flavour. The service was brilliant too, really friendly and welcoming. We made a late request to come in and they still made sure we were looked after, which we really appreciated. Big thanks to the whole team — we'll definitely be back! Thanks

We had one gluten free and one dairy free in our group, and were pleasantly surprised by the variety of options for those with dietary requirements. The servers were lovely. They were friendly, professional and helpful and, despite a full pub, very efficient. The food was fantastic. I had steak and chips, followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. It was delicious. It’s not our first visit to the The Plough on the Hill, and it won’t be our last. Good food and good service.

Negatives: A very long queue for food, one person slicing the meat is not enough when busy. The pork crackling was rock hard and inedible. Positives: Friendly staff and tasty food. I wish you had a savoy cabbage/green cabbage, not sweetcorn!
