Haven’t been here for about 4 or 5 years although it was always our regular Sunday go- to. When Vince and Donna left it went downhill rapidly in our opinion. We had a revisit just to try again after a long time , we ordrered a Chicken and Mushroom pie £14 and a Ham Ploughmans £10 . The meals soon arrived , the pie came with chips and veg and the ploughmans consisted of ham and 2 sorts of cheese ,pickled onions , pickle , coleslaw ,salad and warm bread . The pie was home made (good size ) with chunky chips and veg . All were cooked very well and hot ,no complaints. For a sweet my wife had an Apple Crumble with ice cream £6 , again good sized portions and tasty . We will be returning to try the large menu in the near future .

Called in here, mid afternoon, on the off chance that we may be able to get a late lunch. Very obliging staff stating that it was no problem at all & they served hot food right up until 8pm. Food was very tasty & a good amount. Staff were very pleasant & friendly. Just two slight criticisms. The first was a cup of tea. This turned out to be a very small cup that was only half filled with hot water & a teabag. Just two or three mouthfuls worth for £2.50. Secondly, we had to call someone over to wipe the table as it was sticky & still had crumbs etc., from the previous customers. The rest of the pub was empty so it wasn’t because they were too busy to clear tables properly. Thankfully this was rectified when asked & with good humour. All in all, this was a very pleasant visit & we will surely drop by again in the hopes that the teacups are a little bigger!

Satnav had taken us along a really strange route between Southampton and Derby. We chose the Village Inn totally at random and fully expected to find the place full. It wasn't so we stayed for dinner. The young people on duty were very pleasant and welcoming. The food took a while to arrive, but we were happy with that as we needed a break from driving and it showed that the food was freshly cooked. I had a chicken burger with chips and my wife had gammon, egg and chips. Both dishes were absolutely fine.

Took my hubby here for his birthday meal. We sat in a window seat to start with but asked for the table to be cleaned as it was very sticky. Staff said it was something the other tenants had used to clean the tables with and they were going to go back to using table cloths. We were offered a different table but again this was very sticky. We both ordered the roast beef one regular and one small. When the food came out the meat was very thinly sliced (on a meat slicer I would guess) and dry around the edges. The potatoes were the hottest thing on the plate, the stuffing ball was so small and tepid, the Yorkshire pudding could have been perfect if it was hot but it was cold. We ordered cauliflower cheese as a side dish to share, the cauliflower was still raw in places although the cheese sauce was tasty albeit luck warm. A member of staff did a check back and asked if everything was ok. I informed her of my issues with the meal, she informed us that they hadn’t had any other other complaints about the food being cold. I said maybe I’m a bit fussy but I do like to see steam coming of my plate of food! She offered us a free dessert or money off the bill. We had an Eton mess which was the best thing about our visit. Certainly won’t be going there again and I would not recommend.

Stopped here in a wet and dismal afternoon hoping to find a cosy pub. It was dark and cold and not at all welcoming . No staff behind the bar and had to go and find someone to serve us. While my husband was waiting at the bar I tried sitting at 3 different tables but moved as they all felt very sticky and unpleasant. Giving up I sat down and tried not to touch the table. My husband gave me the glass of wine I had ordered, the glass was horrible- covered in white dishwasher stains - looked like it had never seen any rinse aid !! This was disappointing as I like a clean and shiny glass. I did not enjoy my time in this pub and would not return.

We visited here after visiting someone at GW hospital. Hadn't been in since before lockdown. We knew it had changed hands. It was a Friday evening and there were 4 other people in. We ordered veg pie and mash and a veg tart with chips. Food took a fair amount of time to come out, considering the few diners that were in. Veg pie was inedible. Small amount of mash was good, as was the gravy, but the green beans were frozen and tasteless. That's the negatives out of the way. The staff were lovely. They apologised profusely for the quality of the pie. It was not something they sold a lot of. They took the pie off the bill. I feel so sorry that they had such an empty pub on a Friday night. I've read a lot of the reviews, and it would appear roast dinners are good. I think they need drop the frozen food and focus on things they do really well.

The bathroom is shared but I was the only guest so I had it all to myself. Moving on to Sunday lunch. It was a shame to see this beautiful, quaint, village pub so quiet on Easter Sunday because the roast was fab! I had a small portion and it was lovely. With two glasses of red it came in about £30. No complaints here! Dog friendly too which is a bonus.

Table of 5 booked for Sunday lunch Pub advertising as under new management And being from the next village over it's always good to support local businesses Upon arrival drinks order taken at the bar and we were seated at our table which was spacious and clean We placed our order, all though menu slightly odd with an option of small or large plate with a £3 difference everyone on the table opted for the small plate in hindsight we all should of gone for the larger plates The pork and beef were very thinly sliced and 2 slices per plate And the chicken was one small breast and dry which would of fed a child. Veg was seasonal, cauliflower cheese and gravey boat was both exta £ if you wanted it The only thing that saved that meal was the fire alarm sounding (false alarm) for quite some time and an issue with not being able to mute or turn it off so all deserts were free of charge on behalf of the management team Deserts were marvellous the waffle and salted caramel ice cream was delicious 😋 Overall, nice place and friendly staff but food lacks flavour quality and quantity

We’ve visited this pub before but decided to give it a go again knowing it had been taken over by new owners. We had a nice table in the corner and were offered drinks quickly and given menus. A good choice of pub classic meals and reasonable prices. We ordered surf and turf and the pie. The waitress later kindly offered us a free drink or dessert as felt there was a delay. A kind gesture but we declined as didn’t feel there was a delay. There was a bit of confusion on what we’d ordered when the food arrived but the manager kindly sorted it straight away. Food was good for the price and we felt the friendly service made us feel we’d go back, possibly to try the Sunday roast. It’s always nice to support local pubs/budinesses.

It’s obvious that they are trying really hard to turn this lovely pud around from the damage to reputation caused by the previous landlord. Tips for improvement maybe nice background music to lift the atmosphere a little.

We stayed in an Airbnb nearby and was recommended to dine here. The pub looks really cute and we ate early, so it was nice and quiet. The lady behind the bar and serving was very nice and friendly. We ordered the scallops (very good), chicken and leek pie (not great), bangers and mash (nice except for the gravy) and sticky toffee pudding (pretty awful). The food is pretty bad if I’m honest but I feel sorry for the place as they seem to be struggling so im hoping the recent reviews give them some pointers. The pie was cold, and the pudding was clearly a refrigerated pre made cake and had not been warmed up. The main problem though is the gravy - sticky sweet and almost black. It didn’t taste like gravy and we had to scrape it off most things. Honestly was like bbq sauce/sticky toffee sauce! Ask for it on the side if I were you. I hope this place picks up as it could be a really nice place.

Sorry to say very poor food served here last night. Micro waved, pre-cooked new potatoes served black in their skins and still raw. Chef couldn't cook a spud! Fish (haddock) mediocre. Cooked frozen peas crushed - not real mushies. Chips for one of us -over cooked - crisp to a cinder. Our table was very sticky. We won't be going here again for a while!

Really enjoyed my visit to The Village Inn. Friendly welcoming staff and food was delicious. Had the Sunday roast and dessert, portion sizes were good, well presented and perfectly cooked.

I have been there three times and I gave always been very pleased with their quality, prices, service and place. It is a nice place and the waiter has always been helpful and friendly, and tables have enough distance between them. I recommend it to have a meal comfortably.

We made a last minute decision to go to The village Inn for Sunday lunch and it was so good!! We all had cider braised pork and crackling, it was delicious and a huge portion. The vegetables were great too, cauliflower cheese, roasted carrots and braised red cabbage. We will definitely be returning soon.

Both stayed and had dinner at the Village inn, with our 3 little well behaved dogs. Accommodation was clean, tidy and very comfortable with everything you could need. Very reasonable price. Food was homemade and delicious.

Dropped in for lunch, loved the building and food was very good but disappointed that no real ales were on tap, not sure whether this is a permanent thing or temporary?

Only our second visit, but there is a reason we went back! The food is great (scallops starter is simply divine) and the location is lovely. Atmosphere in the pub is fantastic background music is in the background whilst the seating area is reassuringly busy. Also booked this time via email and the correspondence was which and efficient. Highly recommended Third visit: Sunday Roast Inc vegan option for my wife. It was so good. I had lamb shank special, it just melted off the bone, really good, we'll be returning again for sure.

We've eaten here many times over the years but it sadly went downhill so we haven't visited in some time. Noticed that it had been taken over earlier this year and reviews looked great so we went on Saturday for my husband's birthday. So glad we did! The refurb is lovely - seating is much more spaced out than previously. Team were all super friendly and efficient - lots of smiles and conversation if you wanted it - just how we like it. It was a very busy Saturday night and they looked full. Service as the evening went on slowed up a little but not drastically so and it didn't detract from our lovely evening. Food was exceptional! We had the crispy olives to nibble on, the trout for mains (please keep this on the menu it was amazing) and vanilla creme choux pastry and roast pineapple for dessert. It was all stunning! We only live a few miles away and are so glad to have a top notch eatery on our doorstep! Already re-booked to go with family for lunch in a few weeks time so fingers crossed we'll have the same wonderful experience! Top marks to the chef!!

Poorly trained staff gave our order waited an hour, no one is aware of a table not having been served, we checked, the order hadn’t been put through. Staff and bar man have no idea what whats going on, would rather chat to each other than look a customer in the eye, wasn’t busy. They are not trained that there’s a table there that’s been in a long time but no food. We were then promised it would be out in 5 mins but still took 15 a total of 1hr 20 mins wait for two sandwiches, no reduction on the bill either just poor training won’t be going back.

We go here quite a bit, lovely new pub with nice atmosphere. My to go to dish has always been the Plantbased Burger. It was sooo good even my meat eating friends would have it. It was like a 10/10. But when we went the other day we found to our disappointment you’ve changed the plant burger to a beetroot burger??! It was eatable, but only a 3/10. Please bring the old vegan burger back.

Gave a 2 because the waitress was lovely. Food terrible. Items missing, cold food, congealed cauliflower cheese and overcooked potatoes. Would not return! Did complain but fell on deaf ears.
