The Strawberry Thief - Swindon in Swindon

We go here quite a bit, lovely new pub with nice atmosphere. My to go to dish has always been the Plantbased Burger. It was sooo good even my meat eating friends would have it. It was like a 10/10. But when we went the other day we found to our disappointment you’ve changed the plant burger to a beetroot burger??! It was eatable, but only a 3/10. Please bring the old vegan burger back.

Me and my boyfriend visited here for our valentines celebration and we had a lovely meal and would definitely be back. We highly recommend the chicken wings! 10/10 and we both had burgers which were yum😋

Local so have been here at least a dozen times. Staff lovely and helpful, can't fault them. Lovely atmosphere, really like the decor and feel of the place but the whole place is sadly let down by the food. After our first visit, the 2nd week open, we decided it's best to only eat from the pizza menu and never eat pudding!! £7.50 for black forest sundae sounded a lot so I expected something amazing. A scoop of vanilla ice cream, 5 lumps of rock hard brownie, pink sauce( no flavour, just pink) and a squirt of cream wasn't the pudding I was dreaming of. I've stuck to pizza and no pudding and it's been ok. We've warned others we've been with since to avoid pudding, they haven't listened and been very disappointed. Unfortunately their pizza based are sourdough so not suitable for everyone. Some family members have had to go off plan! I'm told they do a passable fish and chips but is passable good enough at £17?! Other mains have disappointed too and for quite some time there was a very limited choice available. On our most recent visit, I was tempted by the new menu and strayed! I tried the crispy duck bao buns for £16! I'm happy to pay for a decent meal but this wasn't it. Two bao buns, white and fluffy if a little skimpy on the filling, and a small lot of fries. Barely enough combined to cover 1/3 of plate, no salad garnish or anything to add a bit of colour of value to the plate. The buns had been sat waiting to be served for a bit as they were stuck to plate so in two halves. Tried the first half and no hoisin sauce, just duck, spring onion & pea shoot. Not nice! Waitress brought sauce and I are my buns but annoyed I was caught out again! Then, stupidly, I broke my own rules again and ordered two scoops of ice cream for pudding, how wrong can you go with ice cream?! Well, when you don't store it correctly, quite wrong as you end up with big lumps of ice in it! All in all, today was not a good experience, not my worst experience here but I was expecting things to have improved from my first visit. So, be warned, stick to pizza and no pudding no matter how good you've been!!

Great venue and service but poor food. 6oz burger served rare. Was never asked how we wanted it cooked. Mentioned it to waitress who told us it's the meat they use! Kids burger was cooked well but oddly seasoned and the burger ketchup is very different so be careful if you have fussy kids. Ketchup for chips was fine though Cod tacos was lovely but only one tiny piece of cod and way too much tatziki.

Came here for breakfast, for the first time & it was unfortunately disappointing. We both ordered the blueberry pancakes which came out cold, yet the menu stated “warm”. The hot drinks luckily were “hot” & tasted ok but we will be giving breakfast here a miss from now on.

We regularly visit the strawberry as it’s so local to us. There is a good selection of gin and a varied menu. Last night Tyrone served us, he was so polite and friendly. It was much appreciated!

Met friends here today with out booking a table ( Christmas week in December, stupid on our part), but was pleasantly surprised at how accommodating everyone was. We arrived between lunch and dinner service and shared a pizza whilst waiting for the kitchen to open. We were served promptly at the bar by very lovely bar staff and our fresh pizza arrived not long after we took a seat and it was delicious. We ordered a selection of food when the kitchen opened and all was fantastic from the burgers to the bao buns, will definitely return

I came here in November for my birthday, The pizza has so much flavor and i had a really lovely day. Thanks to the bartender Kim it made my day so much better. i really enjoy this pub for a nice Sunday meal

Visited here many times and have always felt a nice atmosphere. The decor is lovely and they have a large patio area which is great in the summer. Small heated huts are available outside too.
