The Village Inn in Swindon

It is a very hit and miss restaurant. Sometimes you cannot fault the meal next time you go it is awful . We used to go twice a week but not again . No bread no fish of any kind including scampi . The all day breakfast cold . The employee said sooty about that !

Food good although 45min wait when only a few customers in I thought was a little excessive .

We had a great visit on 22.08.24 staff are lovely and very helpful, food was amazing the chef was brilliant if he did not have something, he was happy to make something else work (I have a fussy child). Thank you to all from table 3 :)

This pub has gone downhill rapidly over the last few months. The current caretaker management are doing their upmost to keep the pub operating but the lack of stock and food is embarrassing. Toilets are a joke and you will probably need wellies to go in and relive yourself (hereditary probably) give it a miss for now if your expect a fully stocked bar and everything on the menu is available.

Lovely food, especially Sunday dinner. Service with a smile from all bar staff. New management James and Stacy are great. Making things better all the time. Rachel is the fab, helpful and nothing too much trouble and she's always happy and go's above and beyond at every visit. We will return and spread the word that the kitchen is open 7 days a week now with amazing food being served.

Absolutely terrible service and the staff are very rude! Staff sat at the bar eating whilst customers waiting. Dirty glasses everywhere.

having been a regular for some time , i was extremely shocked and disappointed when bringing friends into the lounge to be told by a extremely rude lady who i leant is the new landlady !! of only a few weeks that she’s tired had enough everyone had to leave it was her bed time get a plastic cup if you have just bought a drink !!! i was extremely embarrassed having told friends how nice the pub was ! who were shocked at her behaviour . That’s another lost customer for village !

Came here yesterday for lunch and all I can say it's a bargain for the quality. I had the southern fried chicken platter and my friend had the haddock. Just to add we we're made to feel so welcome by the new management that have been newly appointed, the staff member on shift made the young girl sat at the table across from us feel involved in everything

I found the staff to be friendly and a great atmosphere in the pub itself. I believe it's new management so I wish them well and I will most certainly be back again.

Came here for food last week and was really impressed with everything from the food to the staff. The new management seem liek really lovely people. The food was really nice aswell.

The village inn has been my local for many many years and I must say the new management team and kitchen team are absolutely awesome. The kitchen is open every day and the food is amazing , keep up the good work guys.

I’ve been in this pub many of times and as growing up the people that worked in it was getting disrespectful as time went on I heard it was under new management so thought I’ll try it again I can honestly say I’m 100% happy the food was on point and enjoy every single bit of it ☺️ the staff and management are amazing and tries to make shaw you are happy with the service

Not eaten here*, but stopped by for a pint or two a fair few times. We live nearer the Woodlands Edge pub, but they don't serve decent cider unfortunately. The Village Inn does. Always a good pint of Aspall here. Good range of drinks. Plenty of parking for those not drinking. Good atmosphere, clean toilets. Bar with big TV's showing sports, pool table and darts. Great lounge and restaurant area. *Edit: Son ordered a potion of Chicken Tenders, pretty sure they were £5.95, I was slightly dismayed when the dish came out with three Chicken Tenders, that to my mind cost nearly £2 each. Thought there might have been a mistake, but upon enquiring, was told the no, that is a standard portion. Oh well, know for next time.

The new owners are extremely disgusting, extremely rude, they provide terrible service, definitely not go again.✋👌

Today was Chippy Tuesday and the food was lovely. Haddock with crunchy batter and big fat chips. Will definitely return.

First visit. One person being served by a member of staff. Another customer asks for ice, ice runs out member of staff goes out to get more ignoring me until he gitvto other end of bar. Then tells me just a minute. I was put before a bucket of ice. No business from me. Won't visit again

Food prices are good and portion sizes are reasonable relative to the price, quality was not great but not bad. The staff are lovely and helpful.

Visited yesterday (6th June) was served by a lovely young lady called Faith, service with a smile and she was very polite. Will be back again soon

We ate the vegan options and were very happy with the food. Staff were happy to adapt sundae to make it vegan friendly. Good food, lovely staff and nice relaxing atmosphere.

Always visit here for the quiz on a Thursday evening, even if our team comes last every week. Staff are great, food is always to a high standard - always fresh but can take a little while to come to the table sometimes but always worth the wait. Can't reccomend more for a freinds/family evening out.

Nice pub that offers pretty much everything you need. Varied seating set ups which is good and split in two with a smaller sports type bar and main area for food and drinks. Good atmosphere both times I've visited.

Good band and friendly staff on Friday nights

Visited at a very quiet time. Staff, bar & kitchen were mostly stood about chatting. Despite it being quiet the burger was cold, like it had been sitting around for some time. It's a shame as we pass regularly and it would have made a good drop in point but that def not going to happen now.

Worst food and experience ever ! The manager is full of nonsense, too . No respect . The place is dirty . Will never go back . This review is probably pointless as the crowd will just continue to go . But I won't be back . Sorry, I'm not sorry. I have class.

Very good service from Georgia and Stevie, polite, friendly and attention to detail 👍 Food was good, but the chain need to get a proper steak back on the normal menu l! (Used to have 2 or 3 per monthl).

Excellent service. Georgia always greets us with a warm welcome and nothing is ever too much trouble for her. We have frequented this pub for many years and the new management are smashing it. Its lovely to see the pub so busy. Big thumbs up to Immy and Georgia! Keep up the good work!

Very friendly local pub. Does quiz night, bingo, poker, and live music on set days of week, plus chippy Tuesday and delicious Sunday roast. Eaten a good few times since new management and always enjoyed it. Barmaid Stacie is awesome, remembers wgat you're regular tipple is, very cheeful and friendly and even saves me a prior regular customers paper (so I can do the crossword).

Our dog Reggie us always dragging us in to the village Inn! Great atmosphere, great food and brilliant for dogs!

Food arrived nearly an hour after ordering. The roast dinner had little veg but was tasty. We had to pay separately for drinks and each course so we didn't bother with dessert. Disappointed and won't be going again

What kinda pub doesn't have a Full English on the menu!? So disappointed.

Ordered food Burger came out cold the bar staff took it back and the second burger was cold!! Not sure what the chef was doing!! Bar staff gave a free drink he was apologetic. Should have been given money back as my partner ate his and I had to eat on my own!! Disgusting service

28-June-23: Sunday lunch with my Sister and I (on fathers day) before her birthday. Absolutely delicious, great happy and fast service despite being very busy... my Sister had the roast beef, and I had three meat roast... no room for dessert. Thoroughly recommend.

Great pub for lunch. Ate there twice. Great, friendly staff. Very efficient. Not too busy Good food especially the BLT's. Chips look fab but are tasteless. Need to change to home made or upgrade to a better, tastier brand of frozen ones. Sensible prices

Had a loverly pre-cinema lunch with my niece and her two daughters. The daughters both had a white bloomer sandwich with chips (their choice to put ketchup in their ham and cheese and ham salad sandwiches... yuk) and whilst I do have a big appetite it was only lunchtime so, my niece and I both had the 5oz gammon with egg, chips and eas, which hit the spot perfectly. Throughly recommend (again).

Piss poor. 40 minutes and stone cold food. Avoid. When the staff tell you it's because they're busy. Go somewhere else.

We decided to use the Village Inn ,our local, to host our 50th wedding Anniversary.We had a superb time, the food and choices was excellent,as was the service. Imogen and her team were very attentive. One of our guests had an a medical emergency and again Imogen and her team were very caring for her until the paramedics arrived. A great time was had by all, thank you.

Clicky Pub - first and foremost I must say that this isn’t ‘ solely ‘ due to the new landlords. I Have Ate and drank in Swindon for the past 30 years and never been barred , with the exception of my local that should be the Village Inn ! I don’t frequent in there enough to have the same rights as someone that drinks in there all the time , therefore if you do drink to excess in there all the time and you have the right relationship with the select member of staff there will be only one winner, say and do as you wish ! Hopefully this member of staff has moved on to another pub in nine elms and the click is no longer

This always used to be my go to pub for a good quick meal but not any more. We've eaten there twice in the past month and both times my food was inedible. I had steak and ale pie, mash and peas. The pie was rock hard and the mash looked like leather, I told the waitress who apologised and said she'd speak to the 'chef'. 10 minutes later and no sign of said 'chef' I took it to the bar and asked what the excuse was, only to be told they were having problems with their supplier? I then asked how it was prepared and hey ho! I'm told both the pie and the mash are bought in and simply put into a hot oven on the plate, hence the leathery mash and hard, dried out pie! I appreciate bulk buying but not when it's pre-cooked ready to be re-heated rubbish. The minimum I expect from a pub serving food is to have it as freshly prepared as possible even if I have to wait half an hour This is not acceptable and needs to be addressed with some urgency.

Only ordered couple of drinks but the wait was ages nearly gave up. 2 staff on and both working flat out. Place not particularly busy either.

Nice pub,friendly staff but the hr long wait for Sunday roast was too long. Food was ok to good but not enough veg. Overall would recommend but be ready to wait a while to be served. Was not busy in pub so no reason for hr wait.

The pub was very welcoming and clean, the bar lady (stacie I believe her name was) was very friendly and knowledgeable. Food was amazing. The best nachos I’ve had anywhere in a long time. Will definitely be going back for more.

The dish I had was well cooked, and surprisingly tasty (Southern Fried chicken thighs and chips) could of had peas or similar.

Inflated prices, dreadful coleslaw which seemed to have bit of someone else's meal in it... meaty bits. Chicken tenders were over cooked and the homemade bbq sauce was so vinegary .... really disappointed. Not worth the money.

What a lovely welcome from the new landlady when we popped in for Sunday lunch. Even being so busy we had attentive service which accommodates all of requirements. Thank you so much to Imogen and her team, you’re doing a wonderful job and we can’t wait to come back to try your new menu.

I attended this restaurant on Sunday and I must say I wasn’t impressed at all , the food was cold , and hardly any veg on our plates at all, it was nothing like the advertised roast. the tables were dirty the cutlery was dirty , tables were not being cleared , lamps were thick dust ,the whole place seems to of really gone down hill from my last visit before the new year , there was one lady behind the bar who was helpful called Tracy but the other staff didn’t seem to be doing much , I wouldnt recommend eating here at all it felt very run down ,and a waste of my time and money.

Am I that Unlucky??? In the past month there has been heating issues a week later the credit card system wasn’t working and Saturday I was on my second pint and wanted to use the Gents and told the toilets were out of order, the barman didn’t know for how long so I had to leave my beer and go home. Wouldn’t you have thought someone would or should have warned the customers but oh no they took my money without a word. I thought you weren’t allowed to open with no vital facilities. Annoyed at being ripped off After owners saying they will contact me if I email them, I did but still haven’t heard from them so I guess they wrote that to make them look like they care. More upset now than when I wrote the review

Good local.pub. shame the old menu and breakfast has all changed. I used to go frequently. Now I go occasionally. Still good though. Food is good and the service. Definitely a locals pub

Friendly service and good food I find it frustrating when you only show 1 football game when you multiple Premier League games on at the same time. You have multiple screens so you should put different games on different TVs to cater for everyone because not everyone is a Liverpool fan Need new pool cues

Good service and friendly, Food was excellent. Good range of beers and cyders. Plan to go again next time family is visiting. Cannot say what it is like in the evenings.

Recently visited this great pub with my autistic son. He is very uneasy in different surroundings but was made to feel welcome instantly. He loves Lasagne and garlic bread and was distressed when it wasn’t on the menu but the Manager overheard and offered to make it for him anyway. Massively appreciated. Great food, great environment and amazing staff. Highly recommend.

Booked for 4 people on Friday 27th at 7pm. Arrived on time and ordered our meals within 10 minutes of arrival. The pub was reasonably quiet at that time. We then waited at least 20 minutes before 1 meal arrived and then a further 10 minutes before 2 more arrived. The 3 people proceeded to eat there meals while I waited for mine. A further 10 minutes passed and i had still not received my meal so i went and complained. I was told they were sorry and it was now being prepared. I then waited at least another 10 minutes by which time my 3 guests had finished there meals. Eventually i received my meal and was approached by a vey nervous young lad who proceeded to apologise and offered me a free drink. Although we cannot fault the meal, when we got them, the service was absolutely poor. I would have at least expected someone in management to come and apologise instead of hiding behind a youngster. This was the first time I had visited this pub, on someones recommendation but i doubt if i will be returning anytime soon.

Always nice coffee and food here although you may not find all of the main stay menu items. Staff are always happy and helpful.

Meal for 4 and drinks. Great service and good value. Table reserved, quick bar service, prosecco 12.99 a bottle, lovely St Austell beer £4 a pint. Staff courteous toilets clean, live music.

We went for a quick burger, the burger was tasteless and the salad was weird the only nice thing about the meal was the chips which we only got 6 singular chips

My wife were on a shopping spree and wanted to have lunch out. She suggested the village Inn and I wanted to go somewhere else. As always I lost so we went to the village Inn. Having not been there for a couple of years, I was pleasantly surprised, and we both injoyed our meal. The refurbishment, and the xmas Dec's are really great. Great atmosphere. Today 10 of us ate here. Every meal was piping hot and was brought to us by a cheerful lady. The helpings were huge and excellent value for money. I wouldn't hesitate to eat here again. In fact as it saved me cooking Sunday lunch...
