We visited while on holiday and made a point of visiting just after they opened for breakfast. This place is clean, welcoming and we had a good wholesome breakfast which we could not fault (see photos). Well done everyone to them also for being cash only and supporting local farmers (as demonstrated by the āNo Farmers, No Foodā sign in the window). Conveniently located if you have parked in the nearby car park and are off to shop in the lovely high street.

What a disappointment. Staff who were bordering on being smug that they are so busy. Iād loved coming here on previous visits to Totnes; never again. Having queued for 12 minutes to reach the counter, I had 21 minutes before my trains departure to get a bacon sandwich. My order was refused, āget here earlierā the lady on the griddle chided. How to make a repeat customer feel small! I took a coffee anyway. I donāt drink dairy but oat milk they can only be arsed to put in an āAmericanoā. I took it but it was bitter as hell and lukewarm. I donāt know what has happened to this place but I honestly felt like poop on their shoes. It might be, indeed, that their popularity lends them an arrogance, but, dear friends, they really wasted my time so my honest advice, if you see their cafĆ© is busy, avoid!

I ordered Chicken Supreme but received a piece of chicken with smashed potato mash, and greens.....in gravy. When we were asked if everything was ok, I questioned the 'chicken supreme', to which I was told that 'it's the chef's take on it'. What?? She went to the kitchen, coming back to say that chicken supreme was 'the cut of the meat'. That may be so, but it should be served with a creamy sauce with mushrooms, not regular meat gravy. I was disappointed that I was fobbed off, dismissed. I'll be trying somewhere else next time.

Friendly little pub with some additional out door seating. Had a decent ale here from the bar. The landlord was accommodating and the pub interior was great
