We visited while on holiday and made a point of visiting just after they opened for breakfast. This place is clean, welcoming and we had a good wholesome breakfast which we could not fault (see photos). Well done everyone to them also for being cash only and supporting local farmers (as demonstrated by the ‘No Farmers, No Food’ sign in the window). Conveniently located if you have parked in the nearby car park and are off to shop in the lovely high street.

During our month-long stay in Totnes, I visited our family at least four times a week at the Signal Box. I enjoy the sandwich selection, sausages, fish sticks, and hashbrowns, as do my grandsons. They are regulars. The staff is excellent, and the chef takes pride in the work.

***Rude and Abrasive Staff*** No one can fault the food at The Bull, its sublime. Both creative and original. The service however is amongst the worst I've experienced in any part of the world, including restaurants ranging from street vendors in Phuket to multiple Michelin stars in Saint Barths and NYC. My friends and I have rigorously supported The Bull since it opened, visiting more times than i can count for all kinds of occasions, from one-offs, daily meals and breakfast, to cocktails and date-night dinners, but on at least half of those occasions the service has been bad or questionable, especially for the price point. This past Friday night, six of us stopped in for birthday cocktails on the way to going to eat somewhere else for a a change, and were seated and asked to order drinks at the bar, something that clearly and audible irritated bar staff. They were busy, but seated us anyway. What followed was a 30 minute wait for drinks, and a staff member walking around us huffing and checking their watch, making everyone feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome. A short sighted reaction to an understandably less that ideal situation for an already busy night. To cap it off, each friend that left the restaurant as we waited outside brought with them there own story of having just been treated appallingly, abruptly, rudely and with no politeness, let alone kindness. It can't be that each individual staff member is that badly trained and impolite, so must be something institutional, either way its not fair on the customers or the staff. There should be enough trained staff to cope at full capacity. By contrast, the new place we went to down the road, were welcoming, kind and gave not only a free drink to the the birthday celebrant but a card signed by the staff. Safe to say, the party of six local people and business owners (that hosted clients in the hotel) wont be going to The Bull again unless something miraculous happens. Sort it out...

Friendly little pub with some additional out door seating. Had a decent ale here from the bar. The landlord was accommodating and the pub interior was great
