We visited while on holiday and made a point of visiting just after they opened for breakfast. This place is clean, welcoming and we had a good wholesome breakfast which we could not fault (see photos). Well done everyone to them also for being cash only and supporting local farmers (as demonstrated by the ‘No Farmers, No Food’ sign in the window). Conveniently located if you have parked in the nearby car park and are off to shop in the lovely high street.

Well worth a visit. We had lunch comprising of BLT sandwich and a Ham and cheese sandwich. My hubby had a side of chips. Sandwiches were lovely and freshly made. They were served with a nice fresh side salad and a pot of coleslaw. Really lovely ingredients used not just supermarket stuff. The two ladies making and serving lunch were lovely. We would definitely go back and highly recommend to others.

We finally visited Maisie's after living nearby for a while and wish we hadn't left it so long! Delicious, exceptionally good value breakfast. All 4 of us has the full English with a variety of sides, all of which arrived at the same time and were very well cooked. - great coffee - mushrooms were hot and not watery - hash browns properly crispy - eggs perfect (ie not cooked solid or no runny whites) - proper pepper grinder :) - speedy service - generous portions Along with the super-local feel and great deco, we all thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast and will be back soon!

My husband and I were visiting the town for the day. We wanted some breakfast in a quaint tea room. We found this at Maisies. We received a warm welcome. Lovely, clean, and quaint interior. The husband ordered the full English, and I had the vegetarian breakfast. It was all cooked to perfection. Eggs, mushrooms, crispy bacon and sausages, yummy hash browns. Such friendly staff too. This can be found up a little side street. Totally recommend.

An unpretentious establishment slightly tucked away from the main shopping street. The reception afforded to my wife and I was warm despite our rather late arrival. We chose the unusual combination of one steak and kidney pie lunch and one Devon cream tea which shared them between us with a large pot of tea. Everything was excellent. The restaurant and toilet areas were spotlessly clean and the price of the fare was reasonable. Probably the best tea room in Totnes.

The best place for breakfast and lunch in Totnes. On a week’s holiday to Devon, we ate here 3 times, two lunches and a breakfast. The food is of excellent quality and served in good time by friendly staff. This is a cash only establishment and I wish there were more like it, we need to keep cash alive and used every day. Such a good find, a minute walk from the car park, good quality food at good prices with friendly smiley staff. What more could you want.

We visited here on a recent trip to Totnes with our son and dog, as it is advertised as dog friendly. When we arrived, we got a basic greeting and handed a menu, but as the only ones in the cafe at the time it was unclear how to order even though both staff were watching us. I felt that they could have been a little more friendly and chatted a bit. When more customers arrived the atmosphere warmed up a bit. The cream tea was nice and fresh.

We found Maisie’s by chance after we had parked up in Totnes, it was already lunchtime as we had been elsewhere in the morning. A quick check in Tripadvisor and we thought we would give Maisie’s a try. We were asked to sanitise our hands, full in the track and trace book and given a table with plenty of space around us. We ordered Devon Cream Teas and crab sandwiches. They use vintage style crockery, cups, saucers and cake stands so the presentation was lovely. The scones were warm and soft and the crab sandwiches were delicious. It’s a little off the main area but well worth a visit, we really enjoyed it and it was great value for money too.

We were a fairly large party visiting Totnes and decided to have afternoon tea. It was a fairly miserable experience all round. It was lacking in a few areas (no vegan or dairy free option, underdone scone, shortage of knives and missing a cup and saucer) which I wouldn't have minded had the very surly looking woman in the cafe made an effort to rectify things with a smile, but she had a face like thunder and a really disappointing attitude. Anyway, lots of others to choose from next time.

Was very impressed with the food for the price. Good quality ingredients served quickly. Only one criticism. The air was very smokey, due to fried food. Hence my conclusion is that the extraction system needs beefing up. It’s only a small cafe, with the kitchen open plan, but I’m sure something could be done. Apart from the ventilation I would say that this is an ideal lunch venue. I’ve worked in the town for many years and not tried it. I’ll be going again.

How I picked such a great place by chance I don't know. The scones were out of this world, loads of jam and cream which was readily topped up as I pinched all the cream and left not enough for my husband. As a party of 16 we booked an evening meal here for September 19th over 2 months before our stay nearby. We were sent the menu so that we could inform the Anchor exactly what each person wanted for starter, mains and dessert and this was done promptly and the order sent back. Two days before we were due to eat there, the person who had organised the meal contacted the Anchor by phone to check everything was still O.K. She was assured it was. Our party turned up and ordered drinks in the bar beforehand. Ordering took ages and we were disappointed that the pub had run out of cabernet sauvignon. Not the end of the world ..... but it was a portent of what was to come. An hour later we were shown to our seats. Imagine our consternation when we were then told, despite the assurances only 2 days before, that none of the things that we had ordered months before were available and we would have to order from the totally different, and much poorer, menu that they were now using. It was too late to find somewhere else to eat so reluctantly we stayed and placed new orders. Soon after ordering, the waitress came out to say some of us would need to change our orders as they hadn't got sufficient prawn starters or fish and chips as a mains. We were less than impressed but felt sorry for the waitress being sent out repeatedly to give us bad news. The meal was edible, nothing out of the ordinary. Then we asked for the bills which we had asked to be done by couple. Every single one was incorrect. There was also a mysterious "extra dish" charged on each bill of varying amounts. When this was queried we were told they didn't know how else to put on a srvice charge!!!! It was absolutely unbelievable. One total mess up after another after another. Based on our experience this establishment should not be in business. Atrocious management that would have made Fawlty Towers look good. None of our group would ever consider returning. It was a memorable evening but for all the wrong reasons. I still can't quite believe it.

Traditional British pub offering reasonably priced food. Very welcoming and friendly staff. Don't forget to pay for the car park opposite if you are using it.
