Friendly little pub with some additional out door seating. Had a decent ale here from the bar. The landlord was accommodating and the pub interior was great

A pleasant surpise indded...a friendly little local pub tucked away from the main tourist areas....a joy! Good selection of well kept beers, and a fantastic selection of spirits, including at least 47 rums, many of considerable quality too This is certainly a pub I shall be visiting again, and again whenever I'm in Totnes

Well kept ales, fab. prices, great staff, good atmosphere. The landlord runs this place for the enjoyment of his customers, unlike many other places.

So, after the Malteners at Tuckenhay, see previous review, we arrived at this pub at 2.25pm just in time to order a prawn salad each. Food stops at 2.30. After a bit of deliberation, we asked for some chips with the salad but at 2.31 we were too late! The prawn salad was good if a little pricey.. Shame that they couldn’t have added a bowl of chips one minute outside of time. That’s the little things that make a difference and make you want to go back. I’m not sure I would just sayin 🤔

What a hidden gem this pub is!! it is tucked off the main high street in Totnes and offers the experience of a traditional pub with a selection of great local ales and ciders. the friendly atmosphere makes you feel like a local from the minute you step in. very impressed this is not one to be missed

We popped in here as wanted somewhere off the beaten track and we weren't disappointed. A lovely welcome with a working fire place. A real local pub with friendly people and a good atmosphere. Very reasonably priced drinks too! A refreshing change!

Very much a local with not a lot of passing trade but a little gem nonetheless. Good priced ever changing beer that normally hits the spot and great place to catch up with the local gossip.

Not really part of the tourist scene, set in a cul de sac well back from the main street and from the road that runs down the back though and beside the chain of car parks. It looks and feels like a proper pub, adequately but not wholly traditional. Friendly staff, affable punters on our visit. Beers seemed well kept and were averagely priced. The food was middling but would well serve its purpose if you’re here for the booze and company.

We stayed 3 nights, Fri Sat & Sun, very comfortable well furnished room, ensuite, with breakfast (diy) available in little kitchen down the hall. Wonderful old world inn, great bar, and bar food til 8.30 (lunchtime til 5 on Sunday, no evening meal). Very friendly and helpful staff, and wonderful location in the wilds of Dartmoor.

I loved this pub. We walked from Salcombe and it was well worth it (don't worry, you can drive there too). It had the feel of a genuine pub with some good beers that happened to do great food also. I had possibly the best burger I have had in a long time and my wife had a fantastic steak sandwich. Both were freshly prepared scratch. They have vegan options too. I notice some negative reviews, mostly due to poor service. We arrived at 12 noon on a weekday in October. Even so, the place was full by the time we left, so it is clearly a popular place. The service we experienced was without fault. I hope our experience is the norm.

Great late lunch with family, biggest haddock I have ever seen. Had that locally caught ling, calamri and my wife just cheesy chips. All with crispy fresh batter, chips golden but soft inside. Even cheesy chips were top, 1/2 chips, then cheese, more chips and topping of more cheese. All top quality, even the ice cream and with nice pints of Otter, bitter & ale on tap. Great way to end off long walk on the beach. You won’t be disappointed..
