The tastiest fish pie ever. My partner had the steak which was beautifully cooked. The service was excellent too.

The food was not that great, nearly 20 pounds for a duck with red cabbage that was without seasoning, potatoes was ish okay, so all I had it was just duck and potatoes, no one ever asked how was the food,or why I haven't touched my red cabbage. Just a little disappointed.

Big bright bar serving very nice Salcombe beers the service was spot on and friendly but found the food quite bland and expensive having said that I would give it another go and definitely have a drink or two

I ordered duck leg, and after a while, my duck leg looked not freshly, and when I finished to eat, I noticed was missing something from the menu, missing my potatoes. A big mistake for a nice restaurant with a lot reviews. People from there said to give a drink… not reliable..

First time here and the food and service was top notch. Big shout out to James who made our visit memorable. Really tasty pizza and great hot drinks. Will be back soon

Disappointing. Having enjoyed numerous meals here before with friends I expected the same experience. I chose a linguine dish- Mediterranean vegetables with a tomato and basil sauce- but the tomatoes were just incorporated into the linguine, no sauce, just oil stirred through. The service was not good at all. After our plates were cleared we waited 20-30 minutes before eventually having to call a waiter over to take orders for desert and coffee and then a further wait before our orders were brought. We were later told that preparations were being made for a wake in the room we were in and that we could stay longer if we moved into the other room but this doesn't really excuse our being left waiting for so long. In fact we would have been out of their way much sooner had the waiting staff been more attentive.

Sadly menu is still the same old rubbish that's been serviced for last year.. Even down to the bass fillet on the specials. Sadly went to the kebab shop across the road instead as there's a better choice of food. Disappointed

Only went in for a cuppa. It is fine and overlooking the river. Somehow it doesn't really have much atmosphere. Tables, etc. laid out like a canteen very bare. I think they could rethink the outside area

Popped in on Friday evening, perfect quiet location. Menu has some great offerings and all seemingly reasonable until you get your food delivered to your table then realise the food is an absolute bargain. My half lobster and chips was just fantastic and delivered by helpful smiley staff. Fantastic place and I couldn't recommend it more highly

Really lovely bistro by the river. Really attentive and friendly staff and great food. I had the tagine, my husband had a pizza and daughter had kids pasta......... we all finished every scrap! Husband said best pizza ever! Highly recommend 👌

The food and atmosphere were lovely, but what really stood out to me was the service. Every member of staff was so friendly, but especially the main waiter. He was very kind and accommodated my needs as an autistic person perfectly. I find it hard to go out sometimes because of my disability but he really made me feel welcome and worked with my additional needs

Nice place and good food, one of the waiters had an attitude problem and was particularly rude to our children when it was absolutely unnecessary.

We booked a table for our family of three to eat at this lovely family run restaurant on a Thursday evening. Located by the river Dart at the bottom end of the Main Street in Totnes, the setting is idyllic. The menu was excellent, with a special menu in addition. We had Mussels from Fowey to start which were very plump and tasty, ham hock terrine which was excellent plus calamari which our 15 year old daughter enjoyed very much. For main course we had a steak which was cooked perfectly, lobster which was extremely delicious and our daughter had a burger. The desserts were excellent too especially the limoncello posset with raspberries which was on the specials menu. In fact we enjoyed it so much we returned for lunch on the terrace the next day and can highly recommend the soup of the day and the freshly cooked pizza margherita. Dogs are allowed on the terrace but not in the main restaurant. The service was excellent. We can highly recommend the Waterside Bistro.

Having been very satisfied customers from a while back, we decided to meet up with friends for a meal and drinks. Immediately it became obvious that the owner 'who was waiting' was anxious for us to eat as fast as possible. Half way through the main course we were asked if we'd like dessert, we decided to order another bottle of wine and coffees. As soon as the wine was on the table he asked if he could give us the bill, then started putting chairs on tables around us. We were made to feel as though our custom really wsnt wanted. We left before 10pm as did the only other customers that were also disappointed.

Had a lovely family meal here to finish our holiday in Devon. The man who looked after us (maybe the owner?) was lovely and he made us all feel very welcome and made the kids laugh. Good service and knowledge regarding gluten free/coeliac too.

I've got to say this is one of the best places to eat in the whole of Devon- and that's coming from me, a teenager! The food was absolutely delicious ( try the pizza or chicken burger ) and the service was great too! Overall the staff were really nice and it was a great experience!

The steak was off, two of us had ordered it. Tasted like cheese, asked them whether it was cooked in something to give it that flavour, said no. They came and took the food away and STILL charged us for the full meal. Will not be returning. Have been here several times, live in town but would much rather somewhere with fresh food, who have much better customer service.

Staff are mostly friendly. Food is good but expensive. Bit behind the times with not letting dogs inside so unfortunately wont be back.

The place is beautiful, and it's a pleasure to be able to eat outside. This is a simple place, grabbing cutlery by yourself. We ordered the waterside burger which was very good and generous quantity. I really recommend this place

Food was delicious and the staff were very obliging as we wanted to take the oyster shells home from our lunch and they found us a pizza box to use. Just a beautiful bistro right next to the water.

Had a good meal. Four of us all had three courses of really good food. The spicy pork balls werexan excellent starter anf the sea bass fillets were excellent. We will be back again - quite soon.

We love to visit waterside Bistro when we're in Totnes with our Motor home but unfortunately we can't visit as often at the moment as the clubsite is closed due to being upgraded. Let's hope they get a move on with it and we can return for a lovely meal!

Service was excellent. Although fully booked inside they didn't turn us away. Instead offered us seating outside with heaters. We placed our order at the bar and within 5 minutes our food was ready. Delicious, warm, and tasty, the food was excellent and the atmosphere amazing. We'll be coming back for more!

I've been on different days and I can say that the personal it's the most important thing to do your dinner/ lunch ,however what and why you are the,most joyful and pleasant. On my first day the staff were friendly and very helpful and ready to make my dinner perfect asking me about any allergy and helping me to choose exactly what I want from their menu. On the other day the other shift were less involved in customer care and needs. Overall the restaurant was nice and clean with very good quality food and the BEST Pizza in city and surrounding areas. If you are in Town I'm strongly recommend to stop and try that Pizza 🍕 😉

Fabulous meal! Had game pie (proper pie not just a pastry topping), perfectly cooked veg, including carrots, broccoli, peas, savoy cabbage and new potatoes with extra gravy. All served by cheerful, friendly, polite staff.

Really good food, cooked to order so a little wait before service but with such a pleasant place and such good food, that doesn't matter. Highly recommended.

Came to enjoy lunch on a Sunday, decided upon not going for the traditional Sunday roast and instead having the Game pie - winner Properly cooked vegetables, really enjoyable game pie, couple of new potatoes (but enough to fill up yourself) plus an amazing gravy, pudding next. Do come and enjoy the wonderful food here on offer alongside the very pleasant staff here to help your ever need. 5*'s mean the premises would have to be exceptionally good, 4*'s is saying something positive. Thanks chefs and management.

We had a lovely lunch here. The staff couldn't have been more accommodating and supportive of our dietary needs. They were friendly, engaging and helpful. The food was lovely (my sister loved the meatballs). We weren't rushed, either, so we got to enjoy the lovely devour, pleasant music and pleasant views. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Been here twice as had to return and will definitely be making many more visits in the future. Good service. All staff very friendly and extremely efficient. Cleanliness to a high standard. Restaurant visually appealing inside with comfy chairs/ sofas to sit on. Great presentation of the meals along with a great taste! Costs that little bit more but it’s worth it. Can’t even think of one thing for the place to improve on - just keep up the high standards 😊 . Id rate it as one of my favourite places to eat in Devon!

We had booked for lunch for two, just in case, on what turned out to be a very rainy January day. Very welcoming, and a decent menu with enough choices though not overwhelming. Very good service, and meals and drinks arrived in a timely manner to suit our schedule, and tova high standard. All in all a great experience, and happy to recommend.

Had a lovely meal here for my granddaughters birthday. Service was great, food was lovely and we didn't have to wait too long even though it seemed very busy. A little on the expensive side, but worth it.

Lovely pub by the Riverside which has the feel of a proper restaurant. Nice and friendly staff who managed to find me a table despite being quite busy. Loved the very nice and tasty John Dory I had. The fish tasted so fresh. The best fresh fish I had in a long time. It was served with a generous portion of chips and salad. I would happily recommend this place.

Great food, I had a delicious burger. Quite expensive, however I feel that the food is worth the cost.

Wow. I'm a bread loving gluten free freak. As such I always look on with envy as those around me consume with impunity. I've become used to hard substitutes and salad. Not here. Probably the best pizza in 10 years. Fabulous staff and very good wine selection.

Best place to eat and drink in Totnes. You just have to time it right. Check the website. They're not always serving food. I've spent a couple hundred quid in food here but also, you can buy two lovely lattes for £7.50 and they let my lad buy me it. Definitely the place to be for pizza n fries as well as the finer foods. I can't recommend this place enough. It has overtaken the Stars for food and service since they got new owners for sure. (The stars that is...don't bother in here...can't get anything anymore if you're not a resident Used to spend a lot of time and money in there. They don't care about that though! Grrr)

Amazing hospitality by Emma the hostess outside, friendly staff such as James, Beth, Jack, Matt, Kate & Alicia. The food was hot and to the table in less than 10 minutes. Could use some outside music for the ambience but I have not taken a star off as Darren Davis Buley has shouted at me

Pretentious. Even if there are free tables they tell you that they are busy and invite you to eat outside among the insects. Rather expensive, although decent food.

Been going here for years and it's always been expensive, but never has it been as bad and overpriced as it is now! £7.50 for a kids penne, swimming in tomato flavoured water yet the pasta was still dry - how is that even possible? £4.50 for an apple juice! £2.50 for 330ml of water. Slices of bread with soup so thin not even worthy of putting on the plate and none of that is even the worst... £22 for "half a lobster" which was more like the claw of a malnourished one! 4 bites, if that, for £22!! Don't even wanna know what the supposed whole lobster for £38 looks like. I used to not mind this place, even though it's probably the most expensive in town, their fish soup used to be good and was cleaner outside with a nicer vibe (however it's still very hard to find anywhere to sit outside away from smokers). Now it's just taking the mick out of the good old folk of Totnes if you ask me.
