Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and presentation. When I went for lunch with my friend. We had a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw and scampi with salad and chips. Large portions and tasty food. The atmosphere was good we enjoyed our first vist.We will definitely vist again.Just been again to this cozy pub.Sat next to the wood burner. My friend and I had jacket potato with prawns. Mine with cheese and coleslaw. Both had a small salad.Beer shandy was lovely.Great atmosphere clean and very enjoyable. Definitely our new local.

This used to be our fave coffee shop in the area. Changed hands a while back and we’ve given it a few shots to impress but it hasn’t, so won’t be going back. First ordered toasties and coffee to go. Coffees arrived but food took so long the hot coffees were cold. My daughter ordered an iced coffee and it looked nothing like the drink she’d had there previously and tasted and looked like the coffee shot had been forgotten. Mentioned this to the girls making the coffees who spoke to a lady that I believe is the owner. She basically said that’s how we make them if you don’t like it we,ll put a shot in but it will be 1.50 extra. I explained I didn’t think it had been made right but they were borderline rude to be honest. Went back in recently for a couple of banana breads and a couple of coffees. (Flat white and mocha) Pretty gobsmacked that this was £16.50. Waited for the bread and the girl serving walked past and literally threw the box of bread on the table in front of us. No words, no smile. As a comparison we went to the incredible bigwigs bakery the next day had the friendliest swift service, 2 of the same coffees and delicious homemade praline pastry and a huge sausage toastie to dine in for £15.10. Coffee saloon is overpriced and unfriendly

Waited to be shown to our table (table prebooked). Waited another 10/15 minutes to be asked if we’d like a drink. Waited nearly half an hour til I got up and went to the bar to enquire where they were. Food served after about an hour. Missing salad which still never arrived after notifying the waitress. Overall, food ok but service was pretty terrible in a restaurant that was not overly busy.

Firstly I love the online booking system and they always adhere to our request for ‘quiet corner’ we are three sisters and female relatives so not wanting to watch the football but I totally appreciate people love the football and it’s super that the matches are available but don’t impinge if you just want to chat. The staff at red lion Poole are ABSOUTLEY wonderful, efficient kind and friendly I can’t fault anything about the pub and the meals are truly exceptional value. I would like to add that the menu is not massively vegetarian friendly And perhaps they could swap out the sausages for the quorn sausages on the all day breakfast or the bangers and mash meal though to be fair I have not ever asked for this option. Besides the Mac and cheese is fantastic ! I’m of the opinion they might do this but it would be a nice option on the menu. Red lion poole is a very nice establishment well run and clean and I’m happy it’s my ‘local’

We recently decided to take my Granddaughter for breakfast at Riggers. We'd been there numerous times and always enjoyed it, so we were not expecting the reception we got. I booked online and from the list of available breakfast times, I selected 10.30 and received a confirmation email saying that we look forward to welcoming you for Breakfast at 10.30am. We duly arrived at 10.30 on the dot and were told by the Front of House person that "we're closed, we stop serving at 10.30". I questioned how they could stop serving at 10.30 when I had a confirmation email saying that we had breakfast STARTING at 10.30. At this point, one of the female kitchen staff shouted "we're closed!". FoH person then said, well the buffer food is still there, help yourself and take it upstairs. We collected our food, I paid and we went upstairs. I then realised that I'd forgotten to get toast, so I went back downstairs to the toaster, only to find that the bread was being wrapped up by the same kitchen staff that had shouted earlier. I asked, politely, if I could have some bread for the toaster and the answer was "No!". I pointed out that she had the bread in her hand, but the response was, "well I'm clearing it away". I found this attitude nothing short of disgusting. On leaving, we complained to the FoH about the treatment we'd received, but no apology, simply that "we're having a meeting to discuss the opening times". Maybe the lifeboat crews accept this kind of behaviour, but it's no way to treat paying customers.
