The best restaurants serving British food in Poole South West

We have just had our wedding reception/party here, the help we got right from the time of booking to the day after our event was excellent. Lovely events room, first class buffet, the whole team who we came into contact with were exceptional. We also hired the in-house disco which was excellent. Our thanks go out to you all for the efforts you put in to make sure our special day was one to be remembered forever. Anyone thinking of staging an event here, we would highly recommend it! Very disappointed with our visit to the Custom House yesterday. The service was terrible. The Sunday roast, although very nice, was well over priced for the amount of food on the plate. Its one of the most expensive Sunday roasts I have had in a long time. As regards vegetables there was 2-3 slices of carrot and two small sprigs of broccoli. I was still hungry after eating it. Shame as its a lovely setting.

Friendly staff, able to offer suggestions for drinks based on what I usually enjoy. Good selection of board games and a nice environment.

Fantastic food, had the seafood platter, the best calamari I've had in a long while! Great service too.

Was in Poole for the day with my husband and we popped in to have a drink and a nose but decided to have a Sunday dinner when we saw someone else’s so glad we did it was beautiful I had lamb and hubby had beef and both agreed it was delicious nice friendly staff as well.

Nice clean pub. Good food with large portions. Friendly staff, good service.

A lovely place for a light lunch, we had toasties which were tasty and beautifully presented, and cappuccinos which were beautifully smooth. The place itself is lovely and the staff extremely friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back!

Food was nice but we had a garlic bread 'small plate' for £4.50 and got ONE SLICE of bread. I mean REALLY???

Waited to be shown to our table (table prebooked). Waited another 10/15 minutes to be asked if we’d like a drink. Waited nearly half an hour til I got up and went to the bar to enquire where they were. Food served after about an hour. Missing salad which still never arrived after notifying the waitress. Overall, food ok but service was pretty terrible in a restaurant that was not overly busy.

Came in today with my partner and my daughter. Had some lunch and it was excellent. Staff were really friendly. In my opinion the most family friendly environment in hamworthy, the staff even took the time to help my daughter choose her meal and got her colouring sheets and crayons. Well done !

We decided to stay here again as last year was really nice, great service. no probs, however!!!! unfortunately our visit this year to celebrate my birthday on Saturday 5th October was absolutely diabolical. Firstly.. the shower was broken in our room, so we had to move rooms, this should never of been let out! secondly.. my boyfriend went to get drinks from the bar and was totally ignored!!! this happened to our family also so we all walked out!! Bar staff terrible, they all need more training!! thirdly.. in the morning of my birthday 6th we went down for breakfast greeted by a polite young man although he looked very unprofessional, and was told that we would have to eat breakfast in the bar area as the bar staff from the night before did not have time to stay and clear up the mess and set up breakfast!!!! there was beer mats on the floor, dirty glasses and sticky beer all over the table where we were sitting. As we had paid for the breakfast already we stayed and hoped it would be ok, however, we were extremely disappointed with the service and asked for a breakfast refund!! I did complain and the management were supposed to telephone us to resolve our complaint about our entire stay but we have heard absolutely nothing, the manager even emailed to say he would phone but he obviously cannot be bothered. We are disgusted with how we have been treated the one star is for the cleanliness of the room. Realise there is new staff and management and it takes time to settle in but there is no excuse for poor service!!!

Redeemed themselves the following evening - had exactly what we had wished for. Lots of lovely, friendly staff. Couldn’t have asked for more. Will certainly go there on our next visit to RNLI College and Riggers.
