A superb venue - delicious food which you don’t have to wait long for with ample servings. The staff are lovely, very friendly & the pub has a really nice atmosphere.

We were looking for somewhere in the area that had parking and The Acorn popped up. The reviews seemed good so we went to check it out. We were really pleased we did. The staff were really friendly and helpful. The food was really nice. I had the homemade nachos, some were a little over done, but I actually prefer that. Salsa had a good kick. The mains were served hot and we didn't have to wait too long between courses. They had some colouring in for our little boy so that kept him entertained and then afterwards we sat outside and he enjoyed the play park. It was fairly busy with children, but the park was a decent size to accommodate this. Plenty of outdoor seating in this area and the other side if you prefer somewhere a bit quieter. Very modern feel to the setting, I am not sure if the toilets (ladies) had recently been done as there was a smell of paint, however it wasn't unpleasant. They were very clean. Ample parking. Really recommend.

Friendly staff, good pub with a beer garden. Lots of different ciders to choose from which is a nice change from regular pubs only serving one or two draft ciders. Dog friendly which is always a bonus for me. The general manager is a lovely lady too! Can't comment on food as I've not eaten here before but maybe another time soon!

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food and presentation. When I went for lunch with my friend. We had a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw and scampi with salad and chips. Large portions and tasty food. The atmosphere was good we enjoyed our first vist.We will definitely vist again.

Went here for lunch with my friend as our usual place has closed down.We were able to book a table.We were pleasantly at the lovely atmosphere and cleanliness of the acorn.We had 2 lime and sodas a jacket potatoe with cheese and coleslaw and scampi and chips with salad and tartare sauce .The food was hot and well presented and we throughly enjoyed the food and our experience.Thank you to the staff who served us at the bar and brought our meals.We will definately be back.Unfortuanately forgot to take some photos.

We have gone for lunch every Saturday for the last month. I have always had a burger only to be told today that they don't do them on Saturdays. Then I was told it was because they were short staffed. I could understand if they were busy but how long does it take to cook a burger?. They need to decide on there menu and stick to it.

Acorn is looking really amazing after refurb. It's also really cozy and friendly. Amazing local. :)

Since we moved here in November, we have visited here most nights, the staff are awesome and friendly. They do a quiz on a Monday which is brilliant and it's always busy, the food portions are big and filling and perfectly priced, just an amazing place.

First visit for many a year. Have watched and listened to my beer drinking colleagues who have all said the Acorn is a place to visit for it's ever changing cask ales. Oh how right they are!

We were on holiday in the area, staying in a local Airbnb, we wanted somewhere nice for a meal each evening, our host recommended the Acorn. The food was excellant and the service good, a good menu selection so we were able to have something different each evening. The food was very good and not too expensive, and we did not have to wait too long for the food to arrive, staff all very pleasant.

Having tried the acorn several time over the last 20 years and been very disappointed with the quality of how the beer is serve, I visited today and was pleasantly surprised to find many changes. The beer choices have improved and I enjoyed a couple of pints of very well presented Shipyard. The atmosphere was ruined as the place sounded like a creche with 3 youg mums and the 4 children seemed to dominate the sound. On a positive note the staff were friendly and welcoming. As I didn't have food, I can not comment on it's quality.

Just wasn't my day when we visited, firstly wanted 3 jacket potatoes and chilli for lunch and was told they had no chilli. Went and chose again from the menu, 1x fish pie was excellent, 1x mushroom tagliatelle also excellent. Then tried the steak pudding and it was not available so had a burger that was tasty but not really what I was wanting. Afters do recommend having the crumble and custard yummy, and the cheesecake was good also. Will definitely go back as wanting a steak pudding or chilli🥔😂.

Well what can I say the pub has been shut for 2 weeks or more to decorate !! Doesn't look any different but the toilets do better than the bar !!!

Well haven't really been in a while but heard they were decorating the place and has been shut for 2 weeks or more can't see anything different except the flooring!! The toilets though are lovely! Better than the bar !! So disappointed

No atmosphere and starf not willing to talk to you at the bar if you only want a drink, what happened to the welcoming happy plays for locals, seems like your only welcome if you are eating

Love the acorn, it's our local. We had some lovely roast dinners yesterday, we've had these before and the meat is always fab. The potatoes and parsnips are sometimes a bit raw/undercooked in the middle but it's a lovely place, great service and affordable! And dog friendly :)

All good and the staff were quick with the service and friendly, beeb a couple of times now still the same level and the food has been great 👍

Absolutely blown away by the food here it was amazing,highly recommend steak and chips the portions were generous and good quality food .

Popped in here for lunch with my little one, just by chance as we'd noticed the outside play area there, and the local soft-play was shut for the day. The food was really nice, staff were all smiling and more than happy to help, and the climbing frame, slide and swings out the back are a great addition.

5 stars all round for this pub! The Sunday roasts are delicious and the 5 star service from the lady behind the bar. She was very bubbly, friendly and attentive. Will definitely return.

Lovely lunch, good value for money, super friendly staff

We didn't eat here, but met friends for a drink who live close by. For a Saturday night, it was quiet, but that suited us fine.

Very helpful staff (two young ladies) who were friendly and provided excellent service before, during and after the meal. I had ham, egg and chips whilst my mother had a small Sunday roast. For my mother, the portion was more than enough to satisfy her requirements. The ham, egg and chips was perfect, with both meals being served within ten minutes, from being ordered. To highlight the excellent service on this day, an elderly gentleman (who was obviously a regular) was served at his table for both his drink and meal, as he had mobility issues.

The barmaid with the chilli pepper tattoo was very rude. There was one person in front of her till whom she was serving. I went and stood behind him, she could clearly see me. Then another older man went and stood at the other end of the bar. She asked who was next but didn’t wait for an answer and went over to serve him at the next till! I was annoyed but gave her the benefit of the doubt that she didn’t see me. As I was the only person there then, I stupidly assumed she’d come to me next but meanwhile another man came and she took his order before eventually coming back to me! It’s a shame as I try and support my local pub but I’m afraid she was highly sexist and made me feel invisible even though I was wearing bright yellow. My money is just as important as his. Think she needs some customer service re-training.

Nice village pub. There's a lot going on. We didn't try the food so can't comment on that. Kids play area outside and board games available for family fun time.

Nice pub, the pub's playground isn't for all ages unfortunately, the play equipment there is only for the older children not for the under 5s

We went on £10 burger night. I had a BBQ rodeo chicken and it was amazing. I had a very large chicken breast that was very succulent.

The food was absolutely discusting my children had 2 mouthfuls and they are not fussy at all . my burger was horrible also the bacon in it was still oinking i honesty wouldn’t feed thier food to my dog . And when i explained to the staff she thought she would just let the chef know . Horrendous

Lovely clean pub, friendly staff that smile. Food here is amazing, basic but lovely lunch menu at a great price. We have now started to come here as a family as they have games and cards to play with and it's great to spend some time together. Keep up the great atmosphere and service

Had a drink outside with friends. It has a nice atmosphere, helped by friendly and helpful staff. You can get food at lunch time and in the evening. There is quite a good menu with a good variety of choices to suit most tastes. The food is good, worth having and not too expensive.

Visited here after being invited by friends.Have not been to this pub for many many years and was quite surprised. Spacious, lovely atmosphere,clean & well laid out. Friendly attentive staff with Very good selection of alcoholic drinks for all tastes. Simple bar food menu which we used & was very good value for money. Dog friendly for the well behaved ones if that's of interest to you. Well worth the visit & will definitely be back again very soon.

I popped in for a drink one Sunday. Certainly more of an eatery than a watering hole. No bar stools in site. Love the feature fireplace (although unlit at the time), nicely spaced table arrangements, very polite and accommodating staff. Sports events shown on protector screen. Didn't have any food but from what I could see the standard was very high. Every table was filled and reservations posted for later sittings. Obviously a hot spot for Sunday lunch. Can't wait to try for myself.

The Acorn is run by friendly staff. They serve good value food and have a cosy fire in the Winter months. There is also an enclosed beer garden with play equipment. A good pub for a good chat!

Lovely place for lunch. Took my daughter and new puppy and both were treated with excellent service. Definitely going to com back.

Watched the England France game.... With my French partner 😶 I won't lie, I was a bit apprehensive. Absolutely fantastic atmosphere. Had a brilliant night.

Came in on a quiet Friday. Felt a bit empty but the Guinness was on point, Had a burger which was perfunctory but nothing more. Would definitely give it another try on another day if only for the decent Guinness.

Been here for lunch quite a few times. When we enter the building you are made to feel welcome and there is a good atmosphere in the place. There are always several people eating there when we visit and no wonder. The food is good and the portion sizes very generous. The staff are cheerful, welcoming and polite. There is a good sized beer garden to the side of the pub and also a kiddies play area. The pub is dog and child friendly. It's a pity we live 25 miles away as I would make this my local.

We had a burger and sweet potato and butternut squash satay curry (with chicken) and a side of cheese and jalapeño garlic bread. We really enjoyed all of it, really tasty and warm. Really liked it here. We were visiting friends for the week & decided to try here for tea, as it was my birthday. We all enjoyed our meals, really nice food. Very welcoming & staff lovely.

Tried to book a table for 9 mid afternoon on Sunday. But was told they only take bookings for a maximum of 8 people. Even though I explained 3 of them were children. This was to be a family lunch for my birthday. I choose this pub because of the good reviews and the play area. However, I am very disappointed that they wouldn't take my booking and am surprised that they are happy to turn down business for 9 3 course meals plus drinks. I have never been here before and probably never will now.

Sat in here right now and its buzzing. I came here with my 5 year old daughter and i loved it. The atmosphere is lovely. The staff are great. Food was good pub food. Service was quick even though they are busy. Dog friendly, children friendly. Clean toilets. Good choice of drinks on the pumps too.

Nice little pub with a outdoor play area which h is great. Good is not good standard, haf a hair in a starter, burger had a funny taste to it. Wasn't checked if allergic to anything. Waffle on dessert was stale, just downright disappointed. Wouldn't recommend and won't be going back.

Went for a bike ride with family and decided to pop in for lunch. Great atmosphere, very kind and helpful staff, food tasted really nice and kids had a blast running around the playground. Is there more one can ask for? Definitely recommend this one!
