Lakeside Fish and Chips Restaurant and Takeaway in Poole

I went into to purchase pie and chips, and unfortunately, they do not sell pies, which I find very strange for a chippy. So I chose sausage and chips, the chips were not nice think they were left overs dry and luke warm not impressed

I ordered 1 plate of chips for a vegetarian diner and medium cod and chips for me with 1 tea and 1diet coke. The plate of chips came in a bowl so was a small portion, as it was for a vegetarian one would expect a larger serving and on a plate. The cod was small not medium but you are hoodwinked because the option is either medium or large therefore medium= small. The salad on the side of the plate would not fill a tablespoon. The chips and the battered cod were of good quality the tea was transparent even after standing for 10 minutes or more. Too expensive at over £27.00. We will not call again unless things improve.

Awesome fish and chips, freshly cooked, and the deep-fried cockles were amazing. Worth going just for those. Nice views too and very helpful and happy staff.

Early treat after visiting RNLI with my sister. Sea Bass was very tasty. The fish cakes also went down well. It was late Sunday afternoon so it was very quiet. Staff very polite and efficient . Watch the bill as service charge is added. We had no problem with that as excellent food and service.

Stayed at the nearby Travelodge and ate here. Friendly service but the food was good but overpriced. Unfortunately when I got the bill there was 10% added for service. Not happy. Paid the bill minus this..Ok but for this. Tips should be freely given.

View is spectacular, resturant is useless, 3 times I've been here first time was fantastic, last 2 times disaster don't do it at go sonewhere else at best it's a chippy you would get a takeaway from if you didn't have any alternative. 4 different colours of batter on the plate so everthing frozen from 4 different suppliers. it's was embarising the cooks don't even know what it's supposed to look like all shouting and speaking in a non uk accent I can only assume they are not professionals and aren't experienced in frying fish. It was expensive, the sauces were insipid, one sauce hadw split and they still poured it all over my scallops, one was bearly a spoonful the whole thing was a joke please don't waste your time and money.

Visit every few weeks. Fish and chips very nice, not greasy. Welcoming staff & gorgeous latte coffees. Very very enjoyable & very reasonably priced.

Lovely gluten free fish and chips and a view over the water

This fish and chips restaurant offers a delightful experience. The fish is perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. The chips are golden and crunchy, served piping hot. The atmosphere is cozy, and the service is friendly. A must-visit for any fish and chips enthusiast!

Got a take out Monday night, ordered 1 large chips and a large fish. The chips were barely warm at best and the fish size was shocking for a large fish I was given it in 2 bits both very tiny overall very very disappointed 😞

I ordered my food on the phone and told Natalia and Linda I was coming to pick it up. Next minute Linda ran out to my car with the food I ordered and gave it to me in my car. Thanks very much

Great Fish (very small portion) and chips. Price has increased to where this not good value. No bread roll (petty). Fish size shrunk to very small. Topping it all a 10% service charger, arbitrarily added to final bill. Sorry Lakeside after many visits, over several years, we will NOT be returning.

Can’t really grumble at the food, we both had battered sausage and chips with a carton of curry sauce, chips were nice but a touch on the greasy side. The front of house on the takeaway side could learn to greet people with a smile, the young lass working honestly looked miserable. Did her job but crack a smile. 😊

It’s nice but the portions for the fish are very small, even a large cod is about the size of a regular in other take outs. Lunchtime special is especially tiny portion, mainly batter. Give slightly bigger portions of fish and would be 5* because everything else is perfect

Lovely place with excellent food

Unfortunately I had a very poor and unprofessional experience with the Lakeside takeaway service. I ordered as part of a family with my order being Gluten-Free haddock and chips, other individuals ordered a normal haddock (containing gluten) and normal cod. We ordered this online so went to collect it shortly after. On arrival we asked if the gluten free order had been labelled (as is common practice everywhere- or so I thought). However this was not the case. Ironically, they remarked it would be a good idea to do this, and then proceeded to visually inspect each box- determining the gluten free fish and then labelling with a sticker. However, on arrival home we opened all 3 fish orders and each one looked exactly the same. As someone with celiac disease I cannot just eat something that has just been determined by 'visual inspection' and obvious guesswork considering all three fish just looked EXACTLY the same. I decided it would be better to return to the restaurant than potentially severely POISON myself. However upon complaining to the counter, I was met with an extremely disinterested response. I ordered the same order again (making sure to emphasise that it was gluten free and I was celiac), and was made to repay for the order and was not offered an apology. The food was very tasty but was tainted by poor gluten free practice, which 100% needs to be improved by making sure that orders are labelled as soon as they come out the separate fryer (avoiding confusion).

Delicious fish and chips. Great scampi portion size and kids chicken nugget meals were great too. Can’t fault it.

I visited Lakeside Fish & Chips on 18 December 2023 in the early evening, a weekday during term time. I was with three other people. This was my first visit. I used Google Maps to find the restaurant, which was easy and led me straight to the right place. I parked in the ASDA car park opposite the restaurant - parking was easy. The restaurant comprises of one large sized main dining area with plenty of tables with full table service. The restaurant was bright and clean. The team were friendly and welcoming and I had no issues - we got everything we expected in good time and enjoyed the experience. I had a cheeseburger and chips with curry sauce and some onion rings. The food arrived hot, was well presented and tasted good. There was a good selection of food and I found something that appealed to me easily. I felt that the food was overpriced - the curry sauce, a very small pot, was over £2. I paid £30 for the food including one drink of Coke. Overall I enjoyed my visit but probably wouldn't visit again.

Spent over £50 for fish and chips, the large cod I have in photo, not much bigger than lemon slice and 3 broken bits, when I rang restaurant and asked them to deliver a new piece of cod was rudly told " NO, COME AND COLLECT IT" NEVERUSE AGAIN.

Absolute worst ever! This place has changed and its not a patch on what it used to be. The service was rude, incompetent and clueless. They couldn't even get right 2 large cod and chips. Food was cold and not cooked correctly. We have eaten here for years, never again and we advise everyone to find another local chip shop to support because this place has lost it. The servers attitude was disgusting, moody and i was told in reply to not getting any chips with my order that its not her problem. They basically stole my money and served me bin quality food. The management have a lot to answer for. Terrible.

Ordered a take away two children's meals and two adults, drove to poole harbour found the order was missing childern a drink and toy - will not be back as no care taken when getting the order ready ….

If you want mediocre fish and chips and enjoy waiting for over 30 minutes this is the plaice (excuse the pun) for you.

For the price we paid. we expected a far better meal. Gave the place a second chance for take away, and will not return. Portion size for price is terrible and not any better than any other local chip shop.

Used to always use Lakeside best fish & chips in Poole. Used Deliveroo which Lakeside have stopped dealing with. Told me to use Just Eat who I had had problems with previously but gave another go. Was sat night but after an hour JE still had not allocated me a driver, so cancelled order Used Deliveroo with parkway fish and chips was cheaper and within 20mins was sat down eating. Tasted just as good so worn be going back to Lakseide anytime soon

I can’t thank the staff enough for making our grandsons birthday meal go so smoothly. From start to finish they made us feel so welcome. The food was amazing, I highly recommend the ribs. They were so tender and full of flavour. My husband had the battered plaice he said it was beautifully cooked. We will definitely be back again…. Soon. Eating in the restaurant (cold, November evening). Service was friendly and polite, the fish and chips were excellent, although the chips portion could have been a touch larger given the price you were paying, albeit you then got two drinks per person?! (glass of wine + excellent coffee). Overall an enjoyable meal (£40 for 2 people).

Lovely views meal was great good portions and excellent Price

Still my go to place in Poole for Fish and Chips. The food was fresh and delicious as always. My only grumble is the size and cost of the sides. £2.25 for around two tablespoons of beans or mushy peas, served in an oversized thimble, is a little excessive, even during these times where costs have understandably increased. Otherwise, a lovely lunchtime meal.

We always use Lakeside as best chips around (if you’re lucky!) and GF too. Food is normally good. ALWAYS check they actually give you the correct food though. After several occasions and to our frustration, we have had to call to explain we haven’t got the full order, then literally drive back to collect missing items and receive no apology at all. In the meantime, use our oven to keep the other items warm. We also ordered large chips and we actually only got regular, even for the replacements. The restaurant is amazing but the takeaway is just awful. We will likely go elsewhere now because this is about the fourth time. MISSING FOOD | NO APOLOGY | NO GOOD.

Takeaway. Service slow and food well below par. Small piece of fish covered in grease. Chips of poor quality. Fresh mixed with old. No salt or vinegar despite the request. The two serving behind the counter gave the impression of indifference. Would I buy food from here again? Definitely Not.

We had a lovely evening. Really tasty fish and chips matched by the relaxing surroundings of the restaurant and really warm and welcoming service. Good value too, especially if you have one of the special offers. We shall be happy to return.

Scampi overcooked and no tartar sauce

Amazing location with a great view. Had the King prawns, Calamari, as starter and the Haddock meal. The batter was really good, nice and crispy. The seafood was top quality. The only downsides was the portion size for King Prawns was expecting big pieces but got tiny prawns, and the chips were very bad, bland and dry.

Very disappointed. Ate in the restaurant which was empty but staff showed us to a table outside the toilets. Asked for a table with a view which we did get. Food was average. Delicious fish and chips. Have had them from here a lot as a takeaway but hadn't realised there's a restaurant at the back which overlooks the lake. The clue is in the name really. Will definitely try the restaurant the next time I'm in the area.

What a place! We were welcomed by a very polite and professional staff, even the chefs said hello, they were very busy, a good sign of a restaurant, food was delicious, lovely crispy batter, my wife had the steak, she wouldn’t let me try it, she loved it. Used to be the best but isnt anyone . Look at your bank statement doesnt come up as lakeside so maybe different ownership is why its gone massively down hill . Just tastes like greese.
