We was asked for a discretionary service charge to be paid before receiving any service they take your card before asking so you feel obligated to say yes I feel like I was held to ransom to get my card back I will not be going back to the early bird mayflower road can’t remember the food as I’m still in shock felt like I robbed 😳 Does the owner condone these disappointing practices?

We decided to go here on a Saturday lunch time. After ordering our drinks the bar staff proceeded to tell us that they wouldn't be serving food until 2PM which was far too late for us. Seemed like a rip off, just wanted our money for the drinks. The manager was also sat there counting his money, this could have been done on a Monday afternoon when there aren't any customers. Won't be returning.

This is a quirky little local pub with a really friendly local crowd. The staff here are all wonderful and so willing to accommodate. The bar offers a really good selection of drinks, and I’ve been told that the food here can be quite good. made a visit on a Friday, and it was a sling with energy, but not uncomfortable at all.

Goodbodies in Plymouth offers a mixed bag when it comes to their breakfast offerings. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the milkshake - a delicious treat that, while pricey at £7, was worth every sip. However, the main course left something to be desired. At £12 for a standard breakfast, one would expect a hearty meal with quality ingredients. Unfortunately, the meat and mushrooms fell short of expectations, reminiscent of more basic fare you might find in less gourmet settings. The addition I requested for my meal was initially overlooked, which was a bit disappointing. When it did arrive, I had already consumed most of my breakfast. On a positive note, the portion size was generous, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant. The staff were friendly, albeit a bit forgetful with my order modification. While Goodbodies has potential, it seems they may need to reassess their pricing strategy or upgrade their ingredient quality to truly justify the cost. For now, it might be worth a visit if you're in the mood for an excellent milkshake, but temper your expectations for the breakfast

We ordered haddock and chips early evening. Very busy that night. The food arrived in a large stout paper carrier which was OK but the fish and chips were in a shallow brown cardboard box which had been wrapped tightly in kitchen foil. As soon as we opened the box it was obvious that both the fish batter and all the chips were soggy and damp. The box was 2/3 covered in oily maybe vinegary stains. This had the inevitable effect of reducing most of the attractions of fish and chips. The paper bag and the cardboard box are both sensible ways of keeping the chips and the batter crispy. The foil destroyed it all, even if there were good intentions of keeping it all warm. Whenever I use a chip shop, I turn away plastic carriers and decline advance salt and vinegar. Perillas or their delivery teams need to scrap the foil. About half the haddock survived in a palatable condition.

Great quiz, Debs smashes it every time, bringing a much-needed smile to everyone midway through the week. Praise the lord for the Mannamead quiz.

This is not a noticeably good pub for food. On the lower side of ordinary. there are other places to eat in bigbury, not least the generally very good Oyster Shack. people who view this on the Plymouth listing should not be put off the wholly acceptable Royal oak pub at Hooe on the Plymstock Turnchapel side of Plymouth or the sometimes too busy and slapdash but largely OK Royal oak at Meavy.
