We popped in for a drink and had a cream tea. It was lovely to have waitress service, bone china and table cloths. A proper cream tea with freshly baked scones.

We were visiting Saltram as NT members whilst on holiday and decided to stop here for a light lunch, we had sandwiches and a drink which were very nice, and was pleasant to be able to sit outside under the trees, my only negative comment was no menu outside or on tables that I could see so as soon as you walk inside to the pay desk you are expected to know what you want, the menu was on the table there so felt we had to decide quickly without much thought, also the sandwiches were not made up for you on ordering so couldn't ask for one without something in it such as butter or part of the filling, having said that was nice and worth a visit, inside the atmosphere seemed light, airy and comfortable

Took family & dogs around saltram, thought stop at the café for hot chocolate & bacon bap. You are allowed to take dogs into the cafe to order but not allowed to sit down with them inside. It started to rain very heavy, asked if they could put umbrella up, but apparently it's broken. Said we will go inside as our food was getting soaked, only to be told we weren't allowed because of the dogs. Wouldn't even let us stand inside, so we ended up in the car eating our wet food!!! Good enough to take your money, but not great customer service. The food was nice, but very overpriced for the size of the portions. Won't be going again.

Beautiful location but disappointing experience. Pre prepared, cold and dry egg sandwiches. When asking for additional mayo sachets etc to get a bit of flavour all felt like a bit too much effort. Some of the crockery needed a good clean too . 3 staff stood around, and service unfriendly. Would be better off bringing some prepacked sandwiches. 20 pound for 3 of us and not enjoyable at all

Terrible service, slow and the staff were clearly not enjoying it! Had loaded potato skins which were overcooked to the point of being almost black. Tough and tasteless and not worth the money! No sandwiches available for the kiddies bagged lunch only sausage roll or pasty. One of our party had nachos which were again tasteless and us inviting. Not a good experience and definitely think again before eating here next time

I stopped for coffee at the outside kiosk after a walk around park on Sunday, I was really ready for a 'NICE' cuppa, however, it was very disappointing. I asked for a medium size Americano (black coffee) but the ratio between coffee/water resulted in a very watered down drink; it just tasted like hot water! I don't believe a single shot of coffee in that amount of water could ever work well; needs rethinking! Also I noticed one of the staff who had been doing clearing up outside the unit failed to wash her hands on her return; just went straight to serving people!!

Lovely , clean, little cafe in the courtyard - good service and decent coffee. Good, inexpensive simple meals. A must if you're visiting the park or house.

We were a party of 4 who decided to stop and have some tea and cakes in this lovely little chapel. We love the mismatched china cups and tea pots, something that is characteristic of National Trust tea rooms. We had both breakfast and earl grey tea with shortbread, chocolate & ginger bread cake and spiced orange loaf. The total cost was £20.45. Whenever we visit a National Trust property we always start or end with a visit to the tea rooms. I suggest you do the same!

I am not sure if I am reviewing the correct place: we had visited Saltram House and gardens and decided to have lunch. We both had jacket potatoes served with coleslaw and salad leaves, which were very tasty. Service was remarkably quick given the number of visitors and a young lady came to clean the table before we had our lunch as the previous diners had spilled food on the table. The dining room overlooks a duck pond, which kept us entertained throughout our lunch.

We last visited Saltram House 2 years ago and looked forward to our return visit to the tearoom. We were disappointed with the cream teas. Both scones were warm and soggy. When we enquired was advised they are heated in the microwave!

A good selection of cakes and teas with a nice ambience, especially upstairs. However you pay for all this as you do in most NT properties. Worth a visit, but don't expect anything other than the ordinary!

This is a lovely cosy tearoom in the grounds of the wonderful Saltram House. Only a few tables so plan your visit. Great value if you order the two tier cake and sandwich stand which gives you choice of cake and sandwiches. Smoked salmon were very good while the Victoria sponge was moist and full of flavour.

Went to saltram tea room recently and had a two tier tea, consisting of old fashioned two tier plates just like my Nanna used to have, with sandwiches and cream tea. Service great as always and washed down with a lovely cup of tea in a proper teapot and china cups. Great ambience. Would highly recommend it.

We went for a cream tea the other day and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The tea was loose leaf in a pretty pot and delicate china cups. It felt very luxurious and was definitely something I’d love to do again.

We had afternoon tea here with the three tiered cake stand which includes a sandwich, scone with cream and jam as well as a piece of cake. It was great value for money and was served very prettily on charmingly mismatched crockery. The tea, sandwich and scone were all really good and the cake was ok (a little dry and too much frosting which made it a bit sickly but great flavour combos!) Lovely to sit outside under the tree on a nice day. Would definitely come back.

We made a visit to the house but given its restricted opening hours and restoration work we wondered more in the gardens and found this place on a pleasant afternoon. We sat outside in the sunshine and were inundated with all kinds and varieties of of dogs who were convivial. We took afternoon tea, one of us with tea the other with hot chocolate. It was pleasantly served and it was hot. Relaxing - not much more to say really.

We had a lovely visit to the house and as we were walking the beautiful grounds we stumbled across the chapel, we ended up having a gorgeous afternoon tea, the waitresses were all lovely and very helpful, the atmosphere was amazing, down to the old music, beautiful crockery. Everything that was served tasted amazing, we have never tasted scones like it. Very impressed with the extensive tea selection and the homemade cakes wow! Definitely set the bar high for any future afternoon teas thank you

Came to Saltram today, lovely silent clear crisp morning but being January only about six rooms were open and the rest closed ‘for conservation’ and accessible only on timed accompanied tours. So after a very pleasant stroll through the almost empty garden I took a rest in the tea room. A bit cool but not chilly. Staff polite. I chose the cheese cream tea and a pot of tea for one for just over a fiver all in. Thought I could detect some inoffensive twenties dance music in the background. Just a couple of other tables in use. The tea pot was small but made two full smallish cups. The chutney with the cheese scone was alright but the triangular scone itself was spongy, possibly slightly steamy as if it had been reheated hastily. Instead of a tasty chunk of cheddar I hoped for there were three commercially cut little fingers of cheese, one mild cheddar, another maybe a pale Red Leicester and the third blandly indeterminate. Not great, but then at the price and the NT is a charity so margins must be tight. Wouldn’t rush back.

Everything was brilliant, but a lovely day was ruined by the cafe staff shutting the doors in my face and not allowing my 5yr old child access to the toilet as he desperately needed a number 2. We were literally 2 meters away and it wasn’t even dead on 5pm it was 4:57pm. They refused to let us in to use the toilet which resulted in a very distressed child.

This use of the old private family chapel is a good one and provides a wonderful alternative to the usual busy self service cafes usually found in National Trust properties. It is traditionally furnished, music from the 1940s plays discreetly in the background and tea is served on a mixture of non-matching bone china crockery. Service came with a smile and it was good to see hat they had thought about those of us who need to be gluten free.

The old chapel makes a perfect tearoom and on warm days there's outside seating too. As well as the standard National Trust offering, there was chocolate and beetroot cake. Orders are placed at the till then brought to the table. It's only accessible to people who have first paid to visit Saltram (or got in for free as NT members).

After walking around the house and beautiful grounds on a very cold day, this tea room was a wonderful find. The staff were welcoming and added to the warmth of the old chapel. Wide choice of teas and cake all reasonably priced and beautifully presented on vintage China and white tablecloths. Not stuffy just nicely done and very English!

Manchester cream tea = clotted cream then jam then more cream and a bit more jam, always on a fruit scone, with coffee. Now typing this full of locally produced yumness. Staff at this NT site very helpful with My Lovely Wife's no gluten, no dairy, no fun diet. MLW had chocolate brownie and oooooolong tea but no competition against my cream tea (with coffee as I'm a heathen). Great service in a nice location that I've just got round to visiting after living nearby for 25 years. Definitely recommended.

Used to visit this oldish chapel building around the back of Saltram House near the Orangery, which was often used for exhibitions by regional contemporary artists. A chunk of the ground floor is now a slightly formal tea room which works fairly well. Although it can be a bit like a motorway service station self service we prefer the other NT cafe on the Saltram site which is behind the mews and beside the duck ponds.

A really hidden gem. You can only get to this if you are visiting the house, just around the corner past the house there is an old chapel with a huge tree in front of it. A traditional, table service tea room with lovely vintage furniture and china. A huge selection of cakes, speciality teas and light lunches. With seating inside and outside this is a little oasis, with helpful, friendly staff. Highly recommended.

I love pasties, I also love friary mill pasties. I’m a regular here and can not fault any of the staff, their customer service is always polite cheerful and overall just good. The only issue is there has been multiple times where I’ve purchased a pasty took a bite into it and there’s been nothing but a huge chunk of steak inside, I’m not talking about a little chunk I’m talking about the whole inside of the pasty is just one big ball of steak. I find it happens the most with the cocktail pasties. Not a fault of the staff but just some feedback!
