The best restaurants serving British food in Colan and Mawgan Cornwall, Isles of Scilly South West

We came for afternoon tea and it was unbelievably delicious. I’ve been here quite a few times now and I’m never disappointed by the friendly staff and delicious home-cooked food. Highly recommend.

Lovely, friendly village pub with excellent food.

Yet another fantastic, relaxing break in this dreamy hotel. The views from our room were out-of-this-world. So lovely to wake up to the sight and sound of the waves down on Mawgan Porth beach. The staff at Scarlet are exceptional in every way. They really can't do enough for you. Breakfasts are amazing and we loved the cocktails in the bar. We've stayed in the most expensive room once and we've stayed in the cheapest 'Just Right' rooms on a few occasions. All I can say is that they are equally great, just different sizes to be honest. We did the Taster Menu this time and, having tried these in many restaurants over the years, we didn't feel that this one lived up to our expectations. A shame, as we were really looking forward to it. Nonetheless, we will definitely be returning to The Scarlet as it's genuinely one of our favourite hotels anywhere in the world.

Great food on a last night of the holiday. What a find this pub was it is beautiful and really old. Even though it was an extremely busy Friday the service was spot on and attentive. My Husband & l both had beef short rib in Guiness gravy with veg & shallott mash (gorgeous) one son had braised lamb topped with boulangerie potatoes & veg and the other a mouth watering burger. Four pints of Sharps Offshore washed it down nicely. Will return and highly recommend 👍

Wow. Friendly staff. Food was amazing. We had the burger, scampi and fish and chips. Delicious food. Excellent value for money. This wasn't our first visit and will definitely not be our last. This is my favourite place to eat. Well stocked bar. Something for everyone.

Staying a the hotel for one night whilst down on business Hadn’t realised Zacrys had moved to where Emily Scott’s / Watchful Mary’s had been so thought Zacrys was closed (no one mentioned when checking in which I guess was a bit remiss) Anyway no biggy Ate at Living space instead Friendly service Nice glass of red wine- at 14 quid it needed to be :) I had the Laksa and added chicken Decent but at £26 with the chicken - so again, it needs to be good - I’d personally slice the pak Choi up - took a bit of eating

Really friendly service and lovely, freshly made food. Also had coffee and hot chocolates and all were really nice. Gera place for a quick bite to eat.

An elderly lady was stranded after Ride Source left without her. Will and his son let her stay in the cafe long after closing while she waited to be picked up. They were very kind and considerate. It's good to know there are still good humans out there.

Was looking for a good Pizza Spot last night and came across this place on Google Reviews. Previous photos looked good with some decent reviews so came to try it myself. I got a pepperoni with honey and the missus got a vegetarian and then added pepperoni. I can't remember the exact cost because we went in the shop for a few bits and gave the pizza chef the receipt to get the pizzas but it was somewhere around £25-30 for both which I think is a fair price for a weekend treat considering they're properly woodfired with great ingredients. You could easily spend the same on Dominoes or Papa Johns and get a far more substandard pizza. We headed 5 mins to the lay by overlooking Watergate and were treated to a stunning sunset enjoying our perfect pizzas. A real treat! Both pizzas were absolutely delicious. Probably the best takeaway pizza I've ever eaten in all honesty I absolutely devoured mine! I really loved the sweetness from the honey soaked into the Crust, I've not had honey on a pizza before but it works absolutely brilliantly. The pizzas were both an easy 10/10. My only minor critique on a whole was the actual shop was very expensive. There was a few interesting local selections but nothing mindblowingly appealing especially with prices considered. And the customer service wasn't particularly warm either. I asked a couple of questions about parking and the chef seemed a little standoffish/dismissive like he was being put out answering my questions which were asked in a polite friendly manner. Maybe it was an off day, certainly not rude enough to put me off returning. I'll definitely be coming back to try some other pizza options in the near future.

Great place to visit after a good walk from Newquay. The food was really nice and the atmosphere was good, the views are fantastic but you are paying for that with the prices. That said the views are amazing of the beach and sea. The staff were really friendly and helpful. A great place to visit for a drink and something to eat.

Lovely hot roast dinner very busy but didn't wait long Charlie and olga polite and friendly as usual highly recommend Lovely food any day of week

First time visit and will be back for sure. Went for breakfast Lovely vibe, and beautiful views of the ocean. Service was great, attentive without being intrusive - an enthusiastic and friendly team. I really can’t say enough good things about them, they really stood out for their service. The food and drinks were good - my only criticism was that the portion of bacon was very small, 2 slices but thin and smaller than typical rashers. Having said that my companions’ were noticeably bigger so maybe I was just unlucky. Not enough to pit me off returning, in fact I will definitely be back. Probably for lunch. Prices are reasonable for the overall experience and fabulous setting It was busy, and I would strongly recommend booking Parking in nearby car park is easy, and free in winter.

Never open when it says it is - not reliable at all - don’t make plans on having fish and chips from here as you’re likely to be disappointed with it being shut - clearly don’t care about customers at all

A return visit today for my birthday lunch. As before everything was perfect. The food is fantastic - really fresh and a seasonal varied menu - something for all tastes. The staff are really knowledgeable about the food and local wines and the service is great. I even got a lovely complimentary birthday dessert. Will definitely be returning again for my birthday next year.

Amazing pizzas, really tasty... Just a shame that one of the pizzas on their menu was out of stock. Premises seemed really clean. Would definitely recommend to others and will eat here again.
