Gerardine and Zak couldn't have helped more, the cream tea was excellent and atmosphere was perfect for a wake for my Cousin with relatively short notice. Very good price compared to several other venues we had contacted. Nothing was too much effort. We had the lovely restaurant room but ended up in the courtyard as the sun was shining and things were subtly adjusted by them to accommodate - including an impromptu jamming session! Everyone said what a lovely day it had been. Thank you.

My wife and I were down to Newquay in our caravan for 10 days. The Two Clomes being just a short drive from where we were staying, so good for dinner on the first Sunday of our holiday. Unfortunately we were too late for the roast, so we chose from the main menu. I had the home made burger and my wife the Sea Bass. The presentation was great and the food delicious. The service is excellent and great atmosphere. We decided to return the following Sunday, earlier determined to get a roast dinner. I chose the roast pork and my wife the roast beef. Again service was excellent, may I say that we had not booked a table, but the girls managed to seat us. The roast dinner was one of the best that I have had from a Pub. A good choice of vegetables with the roast and a lovely big Yorkshire pudding, with three good slices of meat of choice. In all I would highly recommend the Two Clomes, good food, good service and nice atmosphere.

Visited for Sunday Roast...glad we booked as very busy and not surprised with the quality of the food. Went again the following Thursday thinking it would be quiet but it was very busy...just shows how popular it is. Had another gorgeous meal. Well done to the Manager ...Zack And the staff who made our visit memorable. We will certainly be back in the future. David and Iris

My wife and i went for evening dinner as it was our 27th wedding anniversary. We do tend to go to the two clomes on special occasions and for good reason. The staff are great, service is always brilliant but the food is just... truly amazing. We have lived in Cornwall for more than 20 years and have eaten in plenty of places but i'm going to put my neck out here and say its the best food in Cornwall hands down.

My absolute favourite restaurant in Newquay. Great food and I mean Fantastic. The Chef is amazing and so talented lovely menu. The fish is very fresh. They also have very tasty vegetarian options the waitresses are helpful and attentive without being in your face. The Manager/owner Zack is also very friendly and knowledgeable. We went 3 times in a week two dinners and a lunch. Nothing but praise all round Thank-you Zack and team xx

My recent visit was a bit disappointing despite going to this restaurant many times over the years. Had the lamb dinner, the meat was nice but the sweet potato did not go with the meat and the price (£31) was not justified. There was not enough on the plate for it to be that much. Despite being a nice place with good service, i would not recommend going there unless the prices were lowered and larger portions of food.

We came here for the first time ever this week to celebrate my Mum’s birthday. Lovely atmosphere and the food was amazing. There was a varied menu using really good quality produce and generous portions. Lots of gluten free options available for my son, he thoroughly enjoyed his steak. Amazing Place! This is our second visit to The Two Clomes. What an awesome place, food is absolutely bang on. And perfect for Gluten free options…. Went this evening all 6 of us, with Fussy kids. Not a chicken option on the menu, but spoke to the staff, and they had a word with the chef.. they were more than happy to knock up some chicken and chips for my little girls. 4 steaks, and we all smashed the lot. Finished off by the fact that all the staff are amazing. Really friendly, and happy, and we are coming back tomorrow!! Thank you see you tomorrow! Xx

If you are looking for somewhere to go for Sunday lunch near Newquay, this is the place to go to. Lovely food, excellent value, good service and a pleasant setting. My wife and I both went for the Roast Beef, which came with a huge Yorkshire Pudding, cauliflower cheese, broccoli, roast potatoes, carrots, mange tout and purple cabbage. The only negative comment was that after eating all of that, I was too full to enjoy something from the dessert menu. Thoroughly recommended and we will go back to eat here again if we are in the area in the future

One of the best pub Sunday roasts ever, service was fast and attentive. Food was great. Great meal just a shame that we were told with 4 minutes notice they needed the table for another booking. We still had drinks and would have had more drinks and coffee, i think if you are going to turn the tables you need to let people know when they book or arrive. Such a shame to get ushered out with no notice on mothers day.

We came for Sunday lunch with friends and were blown away with the friendly staff , excellent service and incredible food. The Sunday lunch is amazing , the beef was beautifully cooked accompanied by stunning roasters , Yorkshire pudding and vegetables . Not only was the food incredible the price is affordable and portions generous. Likewise the dessert, orange and chocolate brioche bread and butter with custard was a winner. My parents and I visited on a Sunday evening about an hour before they closed. A lot of the menu options were sold out (to be expected maybe) and we eventually settled on two steaks, a side of onion rings and a prawn and vegetable Thai green curry, which was an amendment to the menu, which I was grateful for. The Thai green curry was lovely, as were the onion rings, albeit they originally forgot to bring them out. However, both steaks had a huge, uncooked fat cap on the end and a lot of the meat was inedible being really chewy and gristly. This was really disappointing, especially for the price (£25 each). We mentioned this to the waitress and she said she’d speak to the manager. She came back to take the plates and didn’t say anything, so I asked her what the manager said. At this point, the guy behind the bar leant over the side of the bar (we were at the table next to it) and started examining the inedible, half-chewed pieces of gristle on the plate with a knife and fork. He said that it was just meat, that there was nothing wrong with it and that the fat caps were normal on rump steaks. He also said that they sold hundreds of steaks and that nobody ever complains (note: read other reviews on here about the steaks being fatty). He then literally threw the bill at us and said he’d taken one of the steaks off it. When I looked at the bill, I realised that my curry had been entered into the till at 19p rather than £19. Given how much he called our integrity into question over the inedible steaks, if I actually was that way inclined, I could easily have paid 19p for the curry and walked away. However, I called him over and said about the charging error and paid the full £19. No gratitude was shown for this whatsoever. All-in-all, abhorrent customer service and I will never recommend this place or return, even if everywhere else in the area was closed.

Set in a lovely location and very easy parking. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming and a lot of effort had been made to decorate the place for Xmas. We were a family of 4 adults and 10month old baby. We felt very welcomed by the staff instantly and the area was spotlessly clean. We all had the carvery which was a choice of beef, pork and turkey but you could combine. I chose the beef and can honestly say it was quite outstanding. Huge portion size, beautifully presented, with a lovely side of vegetables. Beef was cooked to perfection and the gravy to die for. All in all I can’t recommend the venue enough. Just make sure you are hungry before turning up. An absolute delight and very family friendly.

Having had excellent food here before in the past we decided to book for Sunday lunch. Once again we were not disappointed. The pub was decorated beautifully for Christmas with a lovely tree and fairy lights strung around the roof beams. It made for a wonderful atmosphere. The tables were spotlessly clean and laid very smartly including a lit tealight candle, all the little touches that add to a great dining experience. We both ordered the roast beef, which was so lovely and tender and ever so slightly pink, perfect. They serve the roast beef with additional pulled brisket which just adds another level of flavour. What a great idea chef! Vegetables were also cooked to perfection, and we counted six different veg, including a great cauliflower cheese. A big thank you to all the staff who made us feel so welcome, what a fantastic way to run a pub with such great food. This has to be up there as one of the best Sunday lunches around. Others pubs could learn so much from the Two Clomes. We will most definitely be returning soon!

Amazing meal at pretty reasonable prices with friendly, helpful staff. I rarely give 5 * reviews but this place is our new favourite go to. There is nothing I can fault. We were a large group and had quite a few dishes on the menu which were all delicious and all plates were completely finished. Can particularly rate the beef roast, but the belly pork apparently was amazing (brother in law) and curry was the best ever (nephew) Choice of wine were also good. Toilets were quite standard but very clean. Parking available. Staff pleasant, helpful and friendly. Thank you so much. See you soon!

We visited The Two Clomes, Quintrell Downs, Newquay last night for a meal with family. The meal and the service were excellent, couldn’t fault it one bit. There was a good atmosphere and drinks were reasonably priced. Unfortunately, it’s a ‘dog friendly’ pub and there was one family with a small dog on an adjacent table in the restaurant which yapped all the way through the meal which detracted from the very enjoyable meal experience with its constant yapping.

After trying to book in, the restaurant informed me they are only doing a walk in services and food on certain days.As I had been looking forward to eating here for some time. I decided to go on Saturday 4pm. I managed to get a table for three. Our drinks order was taken, then the food menu provided. I was so disappointed that it was a restricted menu of burger or battered fish. I have been to many restaurants and cafes this week. With the current lockdown restrictions. But this was by far the most ridiculous menu.As I had planned on eating here all week, and would wait for a table If needed, I did not book in else where. As it was a Saturday afternoon there was no chance of booking in anywhere else.Left very disappointed, only finishing half our drinks.

Just got back from a long weekend to Newquay, we wanted to find somewhere that did Sunday roasts & not too far of a drive, this was only 5 minutes from where we stayed. I read previous reviews before I booked (booking is recommended very popular) and I wasn't disappointed. The portion size was huge, I've always been brought up to eat every thing on my plate, but this defeated me, was so gutted I couldn't eat it all as is was delicious. The meat was tender, the veg had a crunch, the gravy oh I could go on and on. It is dog friendly but only in the bar and pub had its own resident dog who gives a warm welcome. Visited here for the first Time, On first impressions with hand sanitiser, written log in (not the formal track and trace app) one way system in and out seemed good. We were placed on a table, close to another, but seemed appropriate as it no-one was sitting on the other table. This pub has lovely character, charm and friendly members of staff, All staff wearing masks, We were able to take ours off when we sat down at our table. All customers were sat a table apart, which I was impressed with how well they were managing their Covid regulations. Spacing customers apart well and not over booking, This changed at peak time, Family of 6 from "up country"(Yes i'm local!) has now taken the table beside ours, Sat very close Although they did try to see their back toward us and try not to get to close.Fairly soon after this, all the tables were full, for me personally, far too busy at this strange time. Dogs are in the pub, Which I love, Brings back wonderful memories being at the pub with my dad, I also have dogs, I love dogs! This said, While i'm trying to eat my food and there is a dog next to me watch me eat my food for most of my meal was a little off putting. The food.... wow where to start with the food! it was incredible 5*, truly huge portions, great value for money, flavourful, so tasty and very well presented! Waitressing staff were attentive to our needs and informative of anything we needed to know. I didn't use the toilet so I have no review here. As a group of friends we have been coming to this area for 20 years, we always make a point of going to the clomes at least once if not twice in our week break, as the fillet steak IMOA is superb. On this occasion 3 of the 4 of us selected the fillet, which is normally served with side salad, vine tomatoes, mushroom and onion rings with a side of chips, on a plate, this time it was all served together in what can described as a cross between a plate and pasta dish, just didn’t look right, and the portion was certainly smaller. First time we have visited the Clomes and come away feeling something was missing. Back again in two weeks time, hope this visit will be better.

food was discussing I had the belly pork starter, the portion of belly was no bigger than my middle finger there were a few green leaves and a sprinkling of chilies, the pork was chewy and never worth the £7-00 THEY CHARGE FOR IT . I had the sirloin steak for my main meal it was tough as boots, the vine on tomatoes was a load of mush two little round slices of mushroom and a few leaves.as for the pepper sauce I have never seen or tasted such a disgusting sauce before, it was like a runny gravy with a few peppercorns thrown in £2-50 for a small jug of cr..p. my wife had the sea bass that looked like it had been frozen and as for the rest on her plate was not very appetizing. The best thing was the chips, they were delicious. We went to this pub for a decent meal, not for a bowl of chips.£50-00 down the drain will NEVER go back.

Food was lovely and worth the 4 rating and the waiting staff were great but the restrictions around COVID 19 stopped at the sanitiser at the door. It is a very small village pub and I understand that it must be difficult to adhere to social distancing but there does not seem to have been any effort made to try and distance tables. We have eaten in a number of places in Newquay since restrictions were lifted who are running at fewer capacity but this did not seem to be the case here at all with people say less than a metre apart from the table next to them. Staff aren’t wearing masks and drinks are handed to you rather than at other places where we have been asked to take them from the tray ourselves.

Booked ahead for this lovely country pub after seeing good reviews for it and it didn’t disappoint. Food was delicious and portion sizes were big so good value for money and friendly, welcoming staff. If you want a roast on a Sunday though I’d book early in the day as by 5pm most of them had run out - luckily we were happy with orders from the main menu though and would recommend the lamb chops, steak or sea bass dishes. Good selection of children’s meals available too.

If you are passing this little gem. Stop and go in. The staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was out of this world. Totally recommend the belly pork starter and the sea bass as a main!

We decided to eat here after restaurants close to us in Crantock were all closing at 2. The reviews looked good, so once we had checked there were tables & it was dog friendly, we decided to try it. Wow what an amazing meal! Myself, husband & son went for the homemade burger (no bun for me as I’m gluten free) & my other son went for the beer battered fish. We all agreed it was one of the best meals we’ve had in a long time! If we get the chance we will definitely return!

We booked up Two Clomes weeks before our trip. Book to avoid disappointment. It is a good distance away from Newquay town so we took a cab there although the weather was beautiful enough for us to walk the three miles home afterwards.Newquay was a gift that just kept on giving and Two Clomes just made it even better. On arrival, we were made to feel welcome. The staff were very professional. The menu was extensive and the food was gigantic sized portions especially the yorkshire pudding. I still found time for the light and airy sticky toffee pudding., though !!Leisurely pace, lovely staff, quaint ambience, amazing food. It made us appreciate Covid, if for nothing else but to have a staycation and discover amazing places in England. Thanks Two Clomes. We will be back.

Myself and my family visited this lovely place on Saturday 29th August as I read good reviews plus it was only up the road from where we were staying. My daughter raved the garlic bread and said it was the best she'd ever had, hubby had the fish chowder and said it was delicious and my son was equally happy (for once) with his steak which was cooked perfectly. Lovely staff who ensured everything was clean and we were catered for. I would definitely recommend this place for dinner when visiting :)

Stayed local to this small village pub where we booked to have a family dinner.Menu was small but had some great options. Food was really good. Sticky toffee pudding a favouriteGood service - all the team making you feel very welcome with a personal feel.It was very well set up for the current COVID situation - one way system in place and very clean.I wished we had found it early because we would have definitely returned

The restaurant was very clean. The food was not so good. I had the fish & chips. The fish was manly made up of a lot of batter. My partner had ham egg & chips. The ham was a thin slice. Not the usual thick slice.

After the disgusting service and food from the Quintrell Inn down the road, we decided to try this small, country pub. I am delighted we did. Excellent hospitality/staff, the food is utterly delicious and leagues above the other pub. Fresh fresh fresh. The beer was good too. I tried some Spanish lager which was crisp and refreshing. The whole place is scrupulously clean, unlike the other pub in the village. Even the toilets are impeccably clean. We will definitely come back to this friendly and cosily amazing pub.10 out of 10Bravo.Thank you for your service.

We always book this restaurant when staying in Newquay it's my husband's favourite restaurant.Unfortunately this time it wasn't as enjoyable as previous visits.I had the scallops to start which were slightly overcooked and chewy and my sea bass was just ok.The surprise of the evening was when our dog drew our attention to a little mouse who ran in and pulled a piece of bread into the log pile of the ingle nook fire place. I quietly went and told the lady working behind the bar that they had a mouse in the restaurant so as not to draw attention to it. I shouldn't have bothered as she shouted across to her colleague 'George is back' and then proceeded to inform me they hadn't seen him for a while. The lady on the table next to us was clearly not happy with a mouse being so close to her but the member of staff had no regard for this and started to take the mouse trap out of the box to set up informing us she wasn't quite sure how to put it together. We had paid our bill but the poor lady who had just received her meal looked so uncomfortable with the situation.I understand that it must be hard to keep mice out of such an old property in the country but really the flippant attitude of it, does it mean they are in the kitchens !Not sure we would rush to book again which is such a shame.

Surf & turf for two, on a Tuesday...what a treat! The management are making sure all the protocols are observed whilst maintaining a lovely welcoming atmosphere. The food is, as always good quality produce, well cooked and presented with a flourish. Thoroughly recommended

A special thank you to Bethany who looked after us so well despite being on the floor on her own. So helpful, happy and efficient. Would definitely recommend.

Brilliant food I eat anything but it’s got to be proper home cooked oh my this definitely was fish and chips to die for batter crispy not greasy fish was fresh and the minted mushy peas just wish I lived less than 350 miles away otherwise I would have found my new favourite pub .

If this review was just based on the food and the staff it would be 5 stars all round. The food was delicious. But unfortunately in these difficult times I have to consider social distancing requirements and these were suspect. The tables were very close together, I was not even 1 metre from the person at the table next to me. The bar was open (no perspex to protect staff and customers) with a walk up for drinks, the 'meet and greet' was in the middle of the pub past the bar. The staff didn't wear any face coverings which I realise is not a requirement but is pretty normal now. On the positive side the cleaning of the tables/chairs between parties was thorough.Based on this I won't be back

We had a reservation booked for 5pm for Sunday lunch. We had our small, well behaved dog with us and ate inside. Unfortunately they had run out of roast beef so we all decided on roast turkey. The food was excellent, one of the best Sunday roasts I have had for a long while. Service was also very good. Definitely recommend.

Even amid all this covid nonsense the Two Clomes was a really great evening out for us a much needed change from all the doom and gloom and fear mongering everywhere else.We live locally but dont go to the Two Clomes very often (but i think that will change as its a really nice place to go and eat)Boris paid for half our meal (but we would have been more than happy to pay full price)We had a goats cheese and a belly pork starter and then the burgers for main course. During our meal we were trying to think of somewhere that did better burgers and by the end had not thought of anywhere so I guess thats it then - the Two Clomes make the best burger around. We're fairly good at eating large meals but had to leave the chips after having a starter as well (but they were good chips just couldn't eat them)Tried to book a table for another evening as we left but they were fully booked so if you want to come and have a great meal here book well in advance. Thanks to all for a great meal and relaxing evening out.

Came for dinner here recently, the food has been better before, when we ate there last time (2018) husband was asked how he wanted his steak, not much point as it wasnt cooked the way he said. I ordered the duck, over cooked but still tasted ok, duck is supposed to be pink... no pink at all and wasnt asked how I wanted it anyway.. food was piled up in a bowl, bit odd. Half a pint of beer recieved about 20 minutes after asking.. no courtesy check on the food, and parking outside none existent. Was okay to come here with the eat out discount.. but wouldn't pay full price... somewhere else next time I think!

My husband, son and I were lucky to get a booking after driving through 2 days before. My husband is a bit of a beer expert & said his pint of Mahou was lovely. I also enjoyed my wine but back to the food. My husband had the salmon and horseradish starter & I had the scallops & squash. Both lovely & bought at the same time as my sons pasta dish. Main course was the lamb chops with Minted mash & purple sprouting broccoli. It was cooked SO well! 3 huge meaty medium chops, creamy minty mash & the best thing the broccoli was cooked perfectly. The gravy/jus was so lovely & no problem getting extra. Sticky toffee pudding for afters was one of the best traditional ones we’ve ever had. £80 for two starters, children’s excellent pasta meal, two lovely mains l, 2 wines, 2 pints of Mahou and 2 J20. Excellent x

Booked a table for 1pm with my partner and 2 children, not a very good start when there were no parking spaces so had to leave our car on the road of a nearby housing estate and walk in the rain! We were seated in a very busy dining area which didn't feel very safe considering we are still in the middle of a pandemic. After about 20 minutes someone sitting at the next table asked if we had been asked about drinks and she took our order so I'm guessing she works there. At 2.10pm I went and asked where our food was as we had been waiting over an hour and people arriving after us had been served. We were given a round of free drinks and told our food was on the way and it arrived about 10 minutes later. Food was ok but not worth waiting over an hour for. Far too busy for a small pub with no social distancing in place so definitely won't be returning.

We booked our table a week before we were due on holiday. This was our first meal out since the lockdown so we were a bit nervous. Well, how lovely to find how organised and pleasant our meal was. No need to worry. Had a a fab table with plenty of space. Waitress took our order from a distance. All in all it was a normal dining out experience but with COVID guidance applied. Great stuff. The Sunday roast is amazing. Definitely recommend

Had a very warm welcome on Sunday night. Nice choice of dishes and wasn't disappointed. Reasonably priced despite the quality of food. I had the sea bass dish which was really tasty. Lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere. We shared the olives, warm breads and cheesy garlic bread to start. All really tasty, just could have done with a bit more vinegar and oil for dipping. For mains my friends had the steak. Good size meals and good quality steak. The only thing they weren't so keen on was the celeriac coleslaw. I had the vegetable rendang curry which was ok but nothing special. It is served with a papadum on top which made it a bit soft with the heat coming up from the dish. The curry didn't have a particularly strong flavour so you could taste the coconut oil and not a lot else. As the only vegan option on the menu for a main it was disappointing. Overall though the restaurant and staff are lovely and welcoming and managing well in these times.

Had a gorgeous meal here on weds, passed this country pub on our way into Newquay and back to our resort. And loved the quirky look of it, and It didn’t disappoint it was gorgeous Food was hot plentiful and fresh. A definite recommendation. Would most certainly visit again! Only criticism is the lack of compassion the bar maid had towards my daughter when my she entered the building and banged her head on the low beam. Granted She should have noticed but didn’t, And the bar maid just said well it is a 250 year old building so has low beams. Not really the response you would expect when you crack your head. But it hasn’t put us off!
