Amazing pizzas, really tasty... Just a shame that one of the pizzas on their menu was out of stock. Premises seemed really clean. Would definitely recommend to others and will eat here again.

Let’s be honest from the beginning; if you don’t want to be in a hotel with children and infants, this might not be the place for you. However, during term time and late Autumn, it was babies and tots and thankfully very well behaved. This may be a child friendly hotel but they did not dominate the space.

We were celebrating my father in laws 91st birthday and as he loves to see the sea we choose the hotel lounge restaurant. Great views but they do seem to ‘play on this’. The prices were very expensive for what you get. Both men had hake curry which was hot tasty but expensive for the amount they got. I ordered shrimp crushed cucumber sweet and chili salad sandwich. What a huge disappointment at £10.95 for the sandwich...... The menu described this as ‘ Hahn mi roll with spiced shrimps, crushed cucumber salad. I received a panini spread with pink salad type dressing, Thai cucumber salad which was good. Then the shrimps, which looked just like big prawns were covered with tempura batter. Nice in their own right but not as well as eaten in a bread roll..... Staff were all young, busy but everything took time despite it not being particular busy. It was early afternoon though. would not go again.

I have been a fan of this hotel since it was first refurbished - particularly the relaxed Living Space restaurant. We have stayed at the hotel once before but usually coast walk from Mawgan Porth where I have a holiday home but what has happened to the food this year? The menu looks great but on both occasions we’ve eaten there, the food has been tasteless and left us feeling sick. My partner was sick after the Bang Bang salad earlier this year and I had to leave my fish finger sandwich yesterday for the same reason. There were three big lumps of warm, compacted fish, too big to fit into a sandwich, which I could hardly push a knife through. It didn’t taste fresh at all and when I expected be fresh and melted in my mouth. The batter tasted of nothing and fish was solid, tasteless and dry. I ate a few mouthfuls and left the rest. The french fries were equally tasteless. I mentioned this to the staff and the cost of the sandwich was deducted - thank you but I was left feeling nauseous all afternoon. Sorry, but as this is now our second disappointing lunch there, we won’t be enticed back.

Visited here repeatedly over the last 6 years and always forgiven their shortcomings. But I think this summer will be our last here. To summarise: Zachary's restaurant utterly average, limited, sardine can parking with a good chance of you scraping your paintwork or someone else doing it for you, Living Space menu unchanged since last year and boring after a few days, prices up significantly, no washing machine working and advised to go to campsite up the road (!), no aircon in room, lots of noise outside at night from people on motorbikes due to having to have windows open etc. etc. Maybe fine for a budget hotel but not at these prices. Actually looking forward to going home now after a week of broken, sweaty sleep and uninsprational cuisine.

We called here for lunch and sat outside on the terrace enjoying the sunshine and the amazing views. The crab sandwiches were excellent, served on the freshest bread and came with a lovely fresh side salad. Although they weren't the cheapest we have had, the quality of the food made the extra cost worthwhile. It was very popular and there was a wedding taking place in the hotel but this wasn't intrusive on the people enjoying their lunch. Would recommend for a visit.

Booked in advance for the Asado bbq night. Overall it was a fab night with just a few niggles. The cider didn't come out until near the end instead of the beginning, this meant that we were getting up to go the bar, when we probably didnt need to. Same with the vegetables that turned up with the last course, so we were at that point full of meat. Meat was excellent though, extremely tasty. Great that we were sat inside on hay bales watching the live band. Would still do again if it was available and have booked for the Lobster night in September.

Went to the restaurant at the Watergate Bay Hotel this week but decided not to stay and eat. Yes we were literally hounded out by so many dogs in the restaurant. We sat at our table only to have two dogs chasing each other around our legs under the table. Then there were two dogs barking fiercely obviously wanting to fight each other. I counted twenty six dogs in the restaurant. No,this is just not on. It's a restaurant not a dogs home. We couldn't stand the noise these two dogs were making and their owners just laughing as though it is the 'normal' thing for dogs to do. Dogs should be outside, on a lead that is tied to a post just like horses are tied up when their owners go in for a meal or a drink. Sorry Watergate Bay Hotel but you have let things slip. The last time we stayed we gave you such a great Review on Tripadvisor but this time it is not a good one. Why didn't you just leave everything as it was instead of changing it and building new parts to the hotel. Why do you allow so many dogs in the restaurant too? We are sorry we had to abandon the restaurant and left our lovely young waitress speechless as we exited to go to another venue across the car park. Please note that we are not anti-dog but dog owners, and the Management of Watergate Bay Hotel, should have some consideration for people who do not have a dog with them and do not wish to be pestered by dogs sniffing all around them. Had there been some control over these dogs then you would have earned some money and we would have enjoyed a decent meal. Unless things change, you will not see us in your hotel again.

Having met friends for a blustery walk across the beach we tried the beach hut cafe on the beach for lunch. They had no room to accommodate 6 people and 3 dogs but suggested we try at the hotel. I was most dubious that they would welcome 3 sandy hairy dogs let alone the rag tag adults! However I could not have been more wrong. From the ever so smiley receptionist to the lovely waiter who found us a cosy table inside, rather than risk rain out on the deck. The food came quickly and was delicious. After admiring the al fresco dining being enjoyed by others at the hotel when we visited Watergate Bay for 'Polo on the Beach' recently, we decided to return to the hotel for a spot of dinner on the way back from Padstow a few days later. Big bonus for us is that the whole hotel is dog friendly so we were able to take our dog in with us and we were extremely lucky to get a table outside overlooking the bay. On a warm summers evening it was delightful to watch families and surfers enjoying the late sunshine on the beach whilst we enjoyed a nice glass of wine. The food was superb - best fish and chips my husband has ever had in a restaurant - and my salmon nicoise salad was delicious and plentiful. The downside is that the service is dreadfully slow. I'm all for taking your time over dinner and hate to feel like I have to be in and out within 30 minutes but we were there for over 2 hours and only had one course! We ended up going in and finding one of the waiting staff in order to pay our bill after waiting over 20 minutes for them to bring it to us. I can only guess that they are so used to the residents eating with them and the bill being charged to the room that they forget that non-residents also come in to dine with them and have to pay before they leave!!

So we jumped in the car and headed to a competitor, it's a shame, as I am sure established hoteliers/owners as this family are within the area, they would not expect staff to be this way, in addition when I asked about the spa, for bookings I was told to ring back as they did not know!

The perfect combination of a fabulous location, a view of spectacular surf, friendly welcome, superb service and a delicious brunch. You must go - but book first. Another Dog and Doug review

I cannot remember having a better end to a day out in Cornwall than to call in at the Watergate Bay Hotel ,If you time it right you can watch the wonderful sunset whilst enjoying a crisp white chardonnay on the open balcony and enjoy the wonderful and not to expensive selection of food on the menu.I have been going to Cornwall for over 25 years and never miss this special place, the views from the balcony are spectacular and the bistro is open to non residents, got to be one of the best kept secrets in Cornwall.

Don't go to WB if you have a problem with kids and dogs. All are welcome here and add to the lively, informal atmosphere. We popped in for lunch and had a lovely meal. Crayfish cocktail for me and hummus and avocado sandwich for him. Both meals were great and my Proseco was really nice. Not cheap but worth the money for the location, view and quality of food. We're regulars and shall continue to be so.

Firstly, I am local….. Secondly, I speak the truth… Thirdly, I am glad that the prices remain reasonable to the working class family man…… Although the decor might be a little bit tiring, the hospitality compensates…… On the last at least…. This place does amazing food…. Fantastic variety and the special board fluctuates…. I just don’t think that anybody that is down earth Can fully understand what it must be like to run a business. It’s like the same goes spread all your cards out and choose wisely. I have eaten all over the world up and down throughout the UK…. And I don’t remotely care what negativity comments I read on here about the coppice…. I salute every individual under the Employment of the establishment. Therefore, I totally recommend anyone to try this place. If you are too posh to wash and this place is not for you.. And if you do not suffer by piles Then clearly, you are the perfect backside …. And as Dell boy once said…. Bonjour …..

My elderly parents stayed overnight at this charming local inn. They were, from the start, treated with huge care and respect. Staff went above and beyond to cater for their needs which included swapping rooms to allow easier access, housing (and charging) a mobility scooter at some inconvenience and finally ensuring they left and returned safely from their social commitment. Their kindness was amazing. And the room itself was fresh, clean and well maintained with all the charm you would expect in this lovely building.

Went for a coffee and was told could only have take away as it was 15:40 on a Sunday, my wife and I are both disabled and I have an ostomy and asked to use the loo and was told I could only if I buy something, so it cost me 7 quid for two takeaway coffees just to use the loo....thanks national trust

We booked afternoon tea for family celebrations. Afternoon tea was presented beautifully and was delicious. Our waitress Pinka was friendly and looked after us. The special offer was a bonus too. Highly recommended!
