The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Excellent food and service. Reasonable prices. Great sunset and sea view. Staff were excellent. Very dog and child friendly!

Well after my last visit I was hoping never to have to go back but I had a meeting with my colleague he. And it was still as disappointing as before rude staff and second rate food.

Been coming here for a while. Local, and always had great Cod & Chips until today. Where 3 of us ordered and paid for Cod & Chips but given Hake. Which is a cheap cut of fish. Really disappointed and not very nice. Be a while before we return where we will make sure on ordering we get what we pay for. Check your getting what you pay for!

Very poor all round: no indoor seating (despite plenty of space for it), a tiny coffee, that was very expensive (£3.40), and very mediocre in terms of its quality.

Had an excellent lunch at the Pelican. The menu is very extensive and very reasonably priced. There is a lunch deal which is really good value and the portions on the deal are quite substantial. I personally had the Mac and cheese with extra piri piri chicken. The chicken wasn’t just chucked on the top it was an integral part of the dish and it was quite delicious . Good beer selection as well, I had Ringwood Forty Niner. Really good.

I ordered gammon steak with chunky chips, pineapple, egg and peas, my partner ordered burger and chunky chips. Chips were not chunky and were over cooked and greasy, gammon was tough and greasy, no peas and burger was greasy. We both felt nauseous all evening! Would definitely not eat there again or recommend !!

No es culpa del personal porque es política de la empresa, pero ¿qué tan mezquino puedes ser? Así que, nunca vuelvas a ir un fin de semana, así que pueden perderse una oferta por dos tés. Booked table . Restaurant empty, no one else in the dining room. Had to ask where we put our coats. Service extremely slow , ordered pre-lunch drinks at bar as no one attended to us, and had to ask for menu as no-one came to take our order. Long, long wait for main course and inbetween courses. Main courses very tasty but whole meal served already on plates not in serving dishes. Puddings very disappointing, profiteroles stodgy , heavy , no cream or sauce with these or the chocolate tart, very basic . Had to go to bar to request coffees. We were very neglected , staff were more interested in putting Christmas decorations up and putting fake flower arrangements around. It took three hours for five persons to be served lunch and it felt as if we were unimportant. Very disappointed , lots of staff but no attention to dining guests.

Really not that great. Not the best menu in the world, and service was soooo slow. They need to decide if they are an eat in restaurant or a takeaway. Trying to be both does not work. I don't like eating in with wooden cutlery and if in a group, as we where, all eating separately as, even ordering one after the other, the service was so slow, no one ate together! The food was OK. We won't bother again.

Gran lugar para tomar un café y estudiar arriba, el personal muy amable que siempre está encantado de ayudar, especialmente una barista llamada Chloe dejó una gran impresión. Definitivamente volveré pronto : )

Didn't know an omelette and chips could be so disgusting. Tasted of oil and nothing else, but somehow, the egg still managed to be dry. Miserable staff who bring the words "bulldog" and "wasp" to mind. The actual building itself is like eating in a toilet block at a festival. I would probably only recommend visiting at night time because the horrible little place will be shut. Unless you like being sick in your mouth on the way home that is.

The food was appalling, not even warm, won’t be returning to the cafe ever. Staff in the garden centre very pleasant and friendly

We travelled up from Southampton for lunch as we have been here before and love the location next to the the K&A canal, it was a special occasion for us and have always found the food to be delicious. The two young women behind the bar were run off their feet and were dealing professionally with customers disappointed that the kitchen staff had not turned up so no further orders were being accepted at the time, We were not in any rush and were happy to sit in the sunshine with drinks, they thanked us for being good humoured about it and after a very short time came and told us (and others) that they could accept some orders. My husband had the scampi and I had steak, both meals were delicious, beautifully cooked, big portions and served with a smile. I have to say these two ladies certainly earned their money that day and managed to make our visit memorable. We will be back (food or not - but would prefer to eat !!!). Thank you.

Me and my husband stayed here last night and what a wonderful hotel, beautiful room brilliant staff and gorgeous food couldn’t fault them. The cost of the room was real good value for money and the food was also very good value for money. Will definitely be staying again thank you for a lovely stay.

Tasty food chips were great. Very fast delivery.
