'Mediterranean vegefable wrap' contained no Mediterranean vegetables, but rather some of the same salad that was already on the plate. Short of time, so we didn't complain. Food and service here are hit and miss at best, which is a shame as it's very conveniently positioned halfway along our route to North Devon. Will be looking for an alternative

Having used the garden centre & shop on several occasions previously, we decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday roast, rather than have the effort of cooking it at home. The place was not that busy, and with the pre-cooked veg lined up on the counter, we ordered & expected a nice prompt meal. After a 30 minute wait, we tried to get the attention of one of the young busy bees who were great at drink delivery, but all avoided eye contact & interaction with the customers, and we could not get an update on our meal delivery. 15 minutes later, so 45 mins after the 12.40 order was placed, our meals arrived with no apology whatsoever. We paid £67.25 for our lunch for 3, and the food was terrible. Dry, rubbery meats, soggy texture-less vegetables, and dreadful roast potatoes (not even roasted in fact, just soft with a tiny hint of colour). We took the opportunity post-visit to respond to the review request email we received to share our dissatisfaction, and included a photo, but this has not been responded to - hence this Tripadvisor entry. In summary, very poor service, no staff leadership, appalling wait time, and awful food. We feel ripped off, as we left the majority of our food and ended up going home to eat, as we were hungry.

Went for lunch on a whim. At 2pm. But oddly enough they had run out of potatoes for the roast on a Sunday. Hard to settle for a club Sandwich which was dry, tough bacon, dry chicken and a half cooked egg. The food was dry and rank. Had to ask three times for a napkin and then only have us 2 for a family of five. Clearly no one in Management is eating the food they serve there. I won't be back to ever eat there again.

My visit to Orchard Park was made when I realised that they had a gorgeous restaurant tucked away in the back of the centre. The staff are so helpful and smiley which is always great to see. I had the pork belly and it was to die for, my husband had the same and wants to return for it! My son ate from the children’s menu which was perfectly portioned and he loved every bite. I was served by Jess who was brilliant when I made some slight changes to my dish. Complements to the chef! We will be back!

Orchard Park used to be one of our favourite places for lunch, but over the last few years the quality of the food has really dropped. Just had what was alleged to be Leak [sic], Potato & Watercress soup. I'm doing it a favour by calling it green sludge. No idea what it actually tasted of, but rather unpleasant. To enhance the experience it was served tepid. This place has had enough chances now, we won't be coming back.

On 11th Nov.2023 my (adult) daughter & I visited Orchard Park restaurant in Gillingham, Dorset. She ordered the bacon,Brie & cranberry panini. I ordered the red onion, beetroot & dill homemade quiche @ £7.95. The panini with side salad was ok although expensive @ £8.95. However, the quiche was disgusting. After 2 bites I couldn’t eat any more. It was dry & tasteless. The bunch of small leaf watercress was limp & I didn’t even attempt to eat it. We brought it to the attention of the manageress who commented that had we drawn it to her attention earlier she would have replaced it. a) she was very busy & it took quite a while to attract her attention. (b) to call it a quiche was misleading. Quiche are made with eggs, cream or milk. (c) I wouldn’t have wanted a replacement. We had to actually ask for a refund, it wasn’t offered. So we shared the panini, got a refund & left.

Recently, my wife and I met up with my wife's brother for lunch. From the compliance of the Covid requirements to the food itself, the whole experience was VERY enjoyable. Our compliments to all concerned including the service and, in particular, the chef as the food was really good. Well done all and many thanks. We live in Dorchester but we have occasion to visit Gillingham now and again so we will be back to Orchard Park restaurant for more of the same.

Visited garden center today decided to have lunch what a joke. Shown to a table food crumbs all over the floor underneath. Waited a least 20 mins for order to be taken. Ordered 2 soft drinks and our main course waited another 1/4 of an hour for drinks. Mains came at last after several other people who arrived after us were served. Husband had sausage roll and salad the roll was burnt on both ends. just about edible I had ham salad ham just stuck on plate in heap was very fatty and full of gristle . Potato salad and coleslaw very funny tasting. Needless to say we left half of it. Will not be going back

Sit very close to others in restaurant. We ordered lunch. Then waited watching people that came in after us eating their lunch..when I asked where our order was I was asked if we had ordered chips as there is a delay. I pointed out someone who came in after us had chips to be told it must be a delay on something else we ordered. When the food came it was a bit disappointing. Everyone has their own opinions to places.I am only saying about our experience. The garden centre itself was very interesting with lots of gifts.

Completely can’t fault the farm shop, however the cafe is a completely different story.. i had visited the cafe many times before for coffee/ hot chocolate and a cake and never had an issue.. i visited on a sunday for breakfast with a couple of friends. Although staff was fine, we were seated quickly & received our drinks in good time, the food wasn’t up to the same standard. I chose the vegetarian breakfast which was a decent price for the quantity of food that you receive. It came out fairly quickly which i was satisfied with. However, shortly after trying my food i realised it was only luke warm apart from the baked beans that were piping hot (obviously microwaved.)However, i work in the hospitality industry myself and i completely understand that sometimes in a busy period, these things happen & you cannot fault the front of house staff for this, they were all young & friendly. I was coming to the end of my meal when i actually found a blonde hair in my food. I pointed this out to my friends that i was sitting with and i am adamant that it isn’t mine as i’ve got dark hair.. very disappointed with my meal and will not be visiting again. My table was never checked by staff ( i don’t know if this is the way the cafe is run) as a worker in the industry i know how important it is to check that a customer is satisfied with their food, however, again the front of house cannot be blamed for that as they most likely follow what a supervisor/ manager tells them. Had i had spare time, i would have happily spoken to a member of staff to let them know of my experience however, i had to get to work and had very limited time. Very disappointed as i was a regular up until now.

Have used this cafe many times in the past but, recently since new management has taken over, the quality and overall taste of the food has diminished, in our opinion. Today my wife and I had Beef Bourguignon and it was tasteless. The meat was tough and there was little or no wine in the thick, very ordinary gravy. I actually came away feeling nauseous. We did complain to the waitress and the male behind the counter but I don't believe our comments were passed on. For sweet, I had chocolate cake but it did not seem to be too freshly made! On ordering the coffees, I paid but they never made them and passed me over to the next customer. Had to remind them and they were brought to our table far too late to have with the sweet. Altogether, a very forgettable dining experience.

Orchard Park used to have a great restaurant. Good interaction with customers, you could see what you were getting to eat. Then it all changed. First you had a blackboard with the same menu day in and day out. Now you have to pick up a menu and stand there looking it it before ordering again pretty much the same menu day in day out.Longer wait for food if it’s an actual meal. This place has a long way to go to meet the standards and quality of Blue Diamond in Wilton. Such a shame.

I have been going to the cafe for over 5 years and used to enjoy visiting cafe for a treat and it included a BBC panini. Last time l was disappointed and felt maybe had to give it time for change of ownership. Visited on Monday and very disappointed to see blackboards still up showing menu, etc in front of hot plates. You used to see the appetizing meals now it all happens behind the boards. My pannini was very poor with fatty bacon, little brie and too much cranberry. So are these made in house or a new supplier? My pot of tea was weak and even dunking tea bag and then trying a second cup still no improvement. So all in all very disappointing. The products and plants to buy still a good variety. BUT going for lunch again not sure just came away feeling not again. Staff always polite and pleasant so they are not at fault.Update: Took my daughter who was on a visit from London. Shared large pit of tea. One tea bag per pot. Complained another pot with two tea bags - still weak. Sorry it is not worth considering again. What a shame and l wish management would take note. Why not let an independent company take over who enjoy providing quality as it used to.

I chewed on the undercooked mange tout and runner beans. The broccoli was too hard to cut with a knife. The parsnips were rubbery. The few roast potatoes on the plate were barely warm.We had already queued a long time to order so did not want to queue again to complain. We will just make sure we don't go there again. Disappointing change/reduction of menu. Staff look unhappy. The change of staff is impacting on general bonhomie with customers. The newer staff are lacking cheerful ambience that was there previously. There is too much emphasis now on expensive snacks i.e. sausage rolls, flans, wedges, scotch eggs, cake portions all being openly displayed in cabinets open to the air and close-up customers. The daily special today is a beef burger in a bun for £6.95! The excellent older menus seem to be a thing of the past and the new menu is showing reduced choices but costing more. This is a great shame as they have a wonderful chef and the owners should be exploiting her culinary skills not reducing them to fast food options on display. The old friendly atmosphere is not there any more and we have been coming here for many years before the current takeover. We paid for our meals today only to be told that one of them was off the menu. They should have known that before we paid. The feeling here in the shop generally is all about having customers spend their money.

Considering they hadn't been open for an hour yet I was disappointed, hungry and more than a little shocked by the service. Considering there were 6 members of staff behind the counter plus additional waitresses and cooks I would have expected more. This give the expression not a sausage a whole new meaning. I used to absolutely love this place but since being taken over by a chain it has lost the personality and commitment to customer satisfaction that made it special. We went in for lunch and they were doing Reno work on one side of the restaurant. There were no signs alerting people to the possible disruption and we didn't realise until we had ordered as you order food on the way in. They have changed the ordering system and it's now shambolic. So ridiculous as the old way flowed perfectly as well we know having visited countless times. Once sat we had to endure loud drilling as they assembled new tables and you could see the dust flying about! They were were even shoving tables out as the restaurant filled up and didn't even wipe them as people sat down even though you could see the dust all over them. The food we had was lovely but ruined by the lack or organisation, consideration and customer service. AND... the prices have gone up!This isn't the first time we've been disappointed recently so sadly it's time to find a new garden centre for our family treats!

The 'salad' consisted of a plateful of leaves which had obviously been emptied from a pre-pack, a tomato which had been roughly quartered, two pieces of cucumber. Hardly a salad!!! There were three 'twigs' of asparagus - no taste or texture. Chicken and bacon okay but rather lost among the green. The one redeeming feature was the pleasant dressing. The staff need a lesson in customer relations: a smile does not go amiss!

The afternoon tea is a generous helping of two scones which makes it great value for money especially as it's enough to share. Last time we went I tried the lemon cake instead and found it to be delicious. I'll agree with other reviews that the coffee is average but it's better than some places. The staff weren't rude but nor were they particularly friendly (no pleasant greeting with a smile, just heads down and getting the job done). I had to be up early to ferry someone to hospital and then home so skipped breakfast and was desperate for some brunch. Was told at 11:45am that breakfast was no longer available. But it was too early for the cooked lunch menu. So only sandwiches available.I ordered a BLT sandwich but the lettuce and tomato was straight out of the fridge so bacon lost its heat and succulence and so was cold and tough. My wife ordered tuna mayonnaise sandwich; same problem - the tuna mayonnaise had been made some time before and stored in the fridge so the sandwich was cold and unappetising.Even the coffee was bitter. So a disappointing experience.

The food is always delicious and varied. we've enjoyed the food there on plenty of occasions. we recently went in for breakfast and we're told by the cafe manager (I believe that's who he was) that we couldn't swap certain foods on the breakfast menu. In the past they were always more accommodating. The major downside to the cafe is that the queues are long! I wouldn't go in during busy times for a coffee. If you don't buy a pudding with your main meal ( I don't like to as I don't know what I will fancy after I've eaten) then the idea of 're-queuing' is very off-putting, so often don't go back for pudding and a coffee. It really should be a waitress service or at least have a separate drinks area.

This garden centre is not large but has a good selection of plants etc. In the plant section in my experience the staff here are helpful and knowledgeable. Inside the shop there is a lovely selection of gifts, usual garden sundries, a small local butcher and a florist. The cafe is of good size light and airy and generally clean. It has plenty of seating inside and out, with free wifi. The food is just average sometimes very disappointing. We have visited many times in the last year and have noticed that it doesn't improve so we tend now to just have a bottled soft drink and go else where in Gillingham to eat.

We regularly visit this nice Garden Centre, which is well-stocked with plants, garden accessories, gifts, cards and books, together with a florist. The staff are all polite and helpful. The café/restaurant is spacious, with a fairly basic, but adequate menu for what is not a large establishment. The recent turn-over of café staff is regrettable and occasionally there is a slight struggle to cope at busy times. Generally café staff are friendly if approached in a like manner, which applies to life in general. Food prices are slightly higher than some garden centres, but not excessively so. With apologies to vegetarians/vegans, my wife and I particularly recommend the butcher's counter, where very fresh, locally-sourced meat (as opposed to pre-packaged, many-days-old supermarket meat), may be purchased from friendly, helpful and highly-skilled staff.

Like to visit the garden centre and if we have time, pop in for a treat in the cafe. Last time we were in there they had new staff and were training someone. We visited on a Saturday and the staff were quite young (weekend/holiday staff) and they appeared a bit flappy trying to cope with the queue and getting the orders correct. Perhaps it was because they were training at the same time? We usually have a cuppa and a cake etc so cannot comment on any meals. A little pricey however cakes are good and the coffee is decent although not wow. Recommend the hot chocolate.

We go there quite frequently for the good food at modest prices. Convenient for lunches and teas as an added treat. Plenty of room. We are lucky to have a place like this in Gillingham. Delicious lemon gluten free biscuits by the way!!

Disappointing café for nice garden centre. Food quite expensive for garden centre We don't mind paying when it is good but this was mediocre and lukewarm The staff were doing their best but were struggling. The managers /owners should visit other garden centres who do it much better. (Haskins Stewarts Wyevale)

The wife and I with our dog stayed here for two nights in a family room. After easily parking up in the pub carpark we entered the Cashmoor Inn and were met by a very pleasant and helpful young lady who then showed us to our room. The room itself was large and airy with a decent size double bed & again a decent size single bed. The bedding sheets were clean and fresh accompanied by a very warm and comfortable duvet. The beds were a little hard for us but still fair. The en-suite was very acceptable with a good hot shower with decent pressure. The clean white large fluffy & assorted towels were very good. Remember this is a pub/inn and not the Savoy. Our room overlooked the busy A road but this is explained on their website so you must expect heavy traffic at anytime - the flow of traffic does subside considerably later into the night but not completely. Our room had tea/coffee making facilities and these were topped up as required. A small but effective tv with decent reception. Decent size wardrobe and ample drawer stowage so you could “spread” your kit around. Plug sockets by double and single bed. The pub itself was friendly and used by the locals - a very good atmosphere indeed and so very dog friendly. The beer I had was hand pulled and Neil the owner knew how to look after his cellar. The wife was also very happy with the cider on offer. We dined in the pub side of the Inn. The restaurant looked nice and inviting but we enjoyed the bar area that much and having the dog with us it made it a no brainer to have our meal near the bar. Both our meals were prepared fresh and they were marvellous and at a fantastic price - well done indeed. Breakfast was fab, full English and all that jazz. Neil the proprietor was very approachable and flexible, meeting our needs as required. He and his daughter Thia (no idea if I’ve spelt that right so apologies for my ignorance) were such nice people and we can only give them praise. There is also a very large beer garden which is child & dog friendly, there is a climbing frame (probably not for adults!) and ample seating - dogs must be kept on a lead in the garden which is fair enough. You have to remember, this is a pub, and it looks after it’s locals, yes it may need a little freshening up here and there but somehow this adds to its charm. This is a good place & excellent value for money. Great food, great ale and great people - long may it last.

Service was horrendous, took ages and felt very unorganised. Food & drink was nice when it eventually came out.
