I was booked in for 20 th July to be told on the 19th at 1330 that they had to cancel due to issues with some of the rooms, I booked work off and packed , I was very disappointed with the whole experience

RUDE RUDE RUDE APPARENTLY the " OWNER "Aggresive and hadn't even booked in yet, Totally disgusted by my treatment as a New Customer am Flabergasted that anyone should wish to give this person there hard earned cash when he has such contempt for his visitors!!! Would give minus score for the whole experience.

Genuinely surprised having just read a couple of the preceding reviews as it couldnt be further from our experience. We stayed in the hotel and ate in the restaurant for two nights. The food was exceptional. The staff couldn’t do more and the hotel is beautiful. I think people coming on a discounted deal should remember that the quality of the hotel , service and food are not discounted once you get there and therefore people shouldn’t expect further discounting. Couldn’t recommend it enough, in fact already told my mum and her friends to book for badminton weekend!

We visited the restaurant as outside guests and after some 'to and fro' we were eventually shown to a table. I must say that I was very disappointed with the very limited choice of menu - only four starters and only four for the main course. The dessert menu was also very limited. For a restaurant of this calibre it was very disappointing especially as it is under such a high profile chef. I also think that the price of £35 plus an extra £7 supplement for steak extremely high. You can be assured that I will not visit again.

The restaurant generally is decorated in the same expansive style featuring plants and Mouseman furniture as the hotel is We ate there on two consecutive nights and to be honest if not prebooked the experience on day one would normally have caused me to cancel day two . However… First night, just two people running bar and restaurant somewhat chaotically, poor knowledge of dishes on menu and worse still on wine list, service was all a little disorganised and full of excuses of being new and not really knowing any answers to my questions, among other things we were given breakfast menus as dessert menus …. However, in day two we had clearly moved way upmarket to a different restaurant, and it was all thanks to “Guy” (whom I suspect is actually Luciano), he transformed the whole service experience and the performance of the whole team, he clearly is an accomplished restaurateur and made it a really good experience, even the food seemed to improve and of course the service encouraged me to move further along the wine list ! As I mentioned, day two service was first class and I mentioned this, I was met with an answer that said service is a pleasure and a privilege Many thanks Guy / Luciano

We were bought this stay via Wowcher for our joint birthday gift and was excited to stay. On arrival we found it difficult to tell if it was the right place as no signage as such. Upon entering we also had difficulty locating reception as again no signage. The hotel reminded me of a museum with lots of interesting things to look at. The lighting is very dim through out. The lounge areas looked comfortable but way too quiet! There was some nice music playing in the bar area though. The bar area is extremely small with one person serving so at certain times it was quite busy with a queue. The complementary cocktail was gin and tonic only so I had two as my husband doesn't like gin. Unfortunately there was no draft beer so he settled for a bottle of cider which was £8. The dining room was nice and cosy. The menu is very small and any side dishes are extra and you would definitely need side dishes. These were £4 each (peas, potatoes, green beans) My husband had the avocado tomato and anchovy starter which he said was quite bland. I had the beetroot and goats cheese curd which was nice enough but nothing exciting. My husband was recommended the turkey so he chose that. It was a thin large slice of turkey with a piece of ham, melted cheese and he said what tasted like plain passata on top but it was swimming in it. It didn't look pleasant and he only ate half. I had the fillet steak which was an extra £10. The steak was nice apart from the green stuff which was on top, I'm not quite sure what it was but I didn't like it. For dessert I had the sticky toffee pudding which was a little bit hard around the edges so overdone really. My husband had the cheese and biscuits but it was just one tiny piece of cheese. We can't comment on breakfast because we didn't go. The meal on the second night wasn't great either. We had the smoked salmon which was just a slice salmon with grated egg, few capers and some sliced shop bought broken bread. No sauce. Again just bit bland. For the main we had the venison ragu with gnocchi which wasnt very nice at all. We decided to pass on dessert. On the first night we did order a bottle of red wine the cheapest one being £45 !! We looked online and you can buy it for £15. Massive mark-up!! So considering it was free the first night cost as an extra £71. And the food was not what we expected and we are not fussy. Very underwhelming. We found the staff pleasant , no issues there. The entrance to the rooms in the building next to the hotel was bit scruffy and hard to tell if it was an actual entrance! The room was nice enough. It was very hot during the night though so we managed to open the doors to the outside but because it's on a main road it was very noisy. A fan in the room would be great I imagine in the summer it's unbearable! There is also no mirror on the dressing table. And no iron. Unfortunately on the first morning we got woken up at 9am by the maid coming in to clean!! When she saw us in bed she apologised and left. The bed was not particularly comfortable, there was a slight dip on my side which was annoying. The duvet was very thick and heavy, would be nice in the middie of winter but not in the warmer months. Unfortunately we were a little bored in the evening because there was no where to go really. The bar was just too small and drinks too expensive to spend an evening there. And unfortunately you're not allowed any drinks or food in your room. The outside area could do with some maintenance. It's quite overgrown with weeds on one side and in the middle section there is just a big empty hole in the ground with red tape going around one half. The hotel has a lot of potential and I love the decor but they need to sort out the food and tidy the place up a bit outside and maybe not charge such extortionate prices in the bar and restaurant.

The food in this restaurant is amazing. Beautifully presented and a taste you will always remember. Pity staff were in jeans. Dress code is smart casual !!!

I bought my wife this get away through Wowcher. I have since deleted the app. We paid £285 for 2 nights ( sat and Sunday) night. On arrival Saturday night it was poorly signed to the entrance for one. After reaching the hotel which looked lovely down the long drive I had a game parking my car as limited spaces. The receptionist checked us in and took us to our room. The room is dark like the hotel in all rooms. We discovered that we hadn’t got a tv, tea or coffee making facility’s in the room nor shower only roll top bath with shower head. This was meant to be a deluxe room. Went down for our first even meal there going to the bar first. My wife and I had 2 half pint bottles of birra morrettii. Which cost £30. 😳 secondly the restaurant service was slow. I ordered a fillet steak which was about the size of of a small beef burger and 2cm thick with a supplement of £15 extra for it. You had to pay £4 for chips, £4 for green beans and that was enough for one person. We had booked bed, breakfast and evening meal. Breakfast wasn’t much better. If you wanted a cooked breakfast in was £7-50 supplement. Which came as one slice of bacon 2 poached eggs. 1 sausage 3 small mushrooms and a slice of black pudding. If you wanted beans 1/2 can £4 extra 2 extra sausage s £4 extra for2 slices of bacon. You sign for these extras and pay on your departure. With our 2 drinks each only and extras on food we spent an extra £136. Marred our anniversary to be fair. Will not be visiting his restaurants again. Bath a lovely place though. A very unique house and interior collections including lots of amazing Robert Thompson( mouseman) furniture. Relaxing, laid back atmosphere. Comfortable bed with quality linen and our food was very good- particularly the fish dishes. Drinks were very expensive however- large red wine was £19 for example.

We booked a 2 night stay here while visiting family before Christmas. Oh dear, where to begin? Satnav got us to the main entrance but once their finding reception was a huge challenge. Reason: the signage was not ‘Rudloe Hotel’ but appeared to be a rib and steak restaurant. Finally braving the front door to ask for help it turned out this was, in fact, the entrance. An unwelcoming person checked us in, immediately pronouncing the rules, demanding we book our breakfast in a 15 minute slot and warning against failing to book for day 2 as we might find all slots taken! This is a small hotel in the countryside, seriously? Our room … back in another building at the bottom of the gravel drive, was pointed out and when we asked if there was someone to help take the bags we were told an uncompromising ‘No’. The room was very cold, the radiators did not work and when we asked about this we were told that was indeed the case, a space heater would be provided. It was - and packed up after a very short time. Overall the decor quirky to the point of weird and lounges so full of chairs and sofas that navigating between them is challenging. The ubiquitous displays of dead animal heads adds to the general gloom. Given this is a chef’s restaurant our dinner was extremely disappointing. Likewise breakfast. Almost everything was ‘extra’ including the orange juice I requested to replace the included cup of coffee. We decided to check out and forfeit our second night … the receptionist’s response was hostile and when we asked would it be OK to leave the car in the car park and take the bus into Bath she snapped back ‘you’ll have to move it before 3pm for new check ins’. We reminded her we had in fact paid for another night at which she conceded it would be alright.

Please don't waste any of your money on this hotel. When you drive in, there is an awful smell of sewage, entering the reception area was very cold ( like the receptionist) & dark, got checked in to our DELUXE room then went to have a look around, pleasant enough downstairs. We then went to our room to be greater by Poo on our bathroom wall as well as rubbish under the bath,dead fly on the window ledge,dust everywhere,shabby blinds and carpets, and the lovely swearing of the staff from the kitchen & the fantastic view not. We managed to get hold of the reception staff by email. They sorted the problem out and sent an email of apology 🙄. When I got in touch with the hotel and explained, they said their standards are very high and checked daily ? I was then basically asked what was after? My reply was NOT to let any other couple or family be let down like we had. Terrible service.

This was our 4th Visit and will certainly be back again next year . We loved every minute,. This year we stayed in room 4 in the house itself and what a treat, so spacious and spotlessly clean , with the most comfortable bed and crisp linen. Bath robes , slippers , huge bath - perfect . As mentioned previously in reviews there is no tea and coffee in the rooms but you have as much complementary coffee and tea any time of the day starting from 8 am till late . You are only a bus ride away from Bath the bus stop is just on main road so no heavy Bath parking fees . We cannot praise the food enough , again absolutely delicious, yes there are supplements but for a fillet steak it is an absolutely bargain . Big big recommendation try the full English breakfast it is one of the best breakfasts you will ever have made with great quality produce and so tasty and you getter of everything . Being that Marco lives here you often see him around and is always so friendly and always happy to chat , he is such a real lovely gentleman. God willing we will be back next year for our 5th stay

Loved our stay at the Rudloe! The food was incredible, we had steak but also had a sharing plate of the ragu… it was all so tasty. The decor was very quirky/ Kinky 🤣 There were 6 of us, 3 couples! We all loved it, it was so nice to sit in one of the rooms on our own and have wine. We went for a wholesome walk in the morning, which was very cute. I can’t wait to come back. My only one slight negative was the moody receptionist. But Howard was very friendly and helpful.

The hotel was hard to find due to having reinvented themselves under a new name, not the Rudloe Arms, reception was hard to find and unwelcoming and unprofessional . The room (in the annexed with no telephone connection) was cold and badly laid out and the bathroom suffered noises from above. I’ve never, ever before had to reserve a time for breakfast. Dinner was, simply, disappointing. The only starter option of 4 that I could eat came with a surcharge. The main was gooey gnocchi bolognaise and my companion’s steak was £12.50 extra. No red wine glasses for our montepulciano- any glass, apparently, will do 😬. Can’t include dessert with your order because, apparently, you’ll get it all together. Best wait another ten minutes for a mediocre dessert. Thanks. No class, no style. We won’t stay the second booked and prepaid night. I don’t need to put myself through it. Write it off and go home!!!

Stayed for 2 nights-food disappointing, extremely limited choice, and same both nights. Everything had a supplement of £4 extra eg any veg,coffee, fruit juice. Alcohol was a rip-off. Went for the food but will not return. Staff were nice, room was OK but not luxurious or special in the least. All round disappointing treat.

The food was generally low quality, poorly prepared, lacked any real depth of flavour. Hugely disappointing when you consider the reputation of the chef whose name is attached to the restaurant. I don't drink wine so was looking forward to a good draught ale. There is no draught beer, just one bottled lager option and one bottled bitter option. Having purchased our deal through Wowcher, we knew that some dishes cost extra, such as the steak, but why charge extra for a basic starter like pate ?! On a positive note, we paid extra for triple cut chips which were lovely albeit a very small portion; the puddings were also good. And the breakfast was also very nice.

It was my husbands 80th birthday treat from our family. We arrived the staff were very polite booking in. We had a superior room booked but it was not in the main house which was full of Marco’s private collections very self indulgent & very quirky. Lighting in every room was quite dark no bright lights even outside lighting was not great. The room had tea /coffee facilities but nothing else no finer details like a couple of biscuits not even a bottle of water. Breakfast a choice of 3 /4 very simple menu muesli, oats, scrambled eggs on crumpets anything else had a supplement even a fruit juice no croissants even though they would probably have had a supplement The evening meal had a choice of 4 all extra veg had a supplement if you wanted a steak that too had a supplement. We stayed 2 night the evening meal was the same choice both nights very disappointing as it was Marco’s culinary creations we were looking forward to the most. Could not recommend this as a special break away as the initial cost was expensive without all the supplements.

Had a groupon deal for 2 nights. Alcohol is STUPIDLY overpriced £15 a pint! Evening meal supplements charged for most meals and breakfast added charge supplemented and fresh orange (a small bottle) £4.50! Bearing in mind the deal was 2 nights bed, breakfast and evening meal!

Wow, what can I say? The food was exceptional. The staff are very friendly. Tyler in the bar made me a lively cocktail with a slight variance. I wanted a strawberry daiquiri, and he accommodated. Thanks Tyler The breakfast choice was very good. We stayed 2 nights, and I would come back again.

It is top end food at budget rates. Menu has little change but all dishes are of their type excellent

The restaurant is simple and really nice. The food was amazing, but only a few things can be improved. All the starters were really good. I've had the lobster soup. That was really good. My girlfriend had the beetroot one. She loved it. I've had the gnocchi, in my opinion the gnocchi should be homemade, ragù was too oily and beef stock doesn't go with it. But it was really nice. I've had it in both nights. My girlfriend gnocchi and the fillet. The steak was slightly over(asked for rare), but it was really tasty. Desserts were also really good. The whole thing was an amazing experience. A few people mentioned the price. You see the price before you enter into the restaurant. If you can not afford it, don't bother. The review can't be bad if the wine is expensive. Simply don't bother. The service was good, friendly, and efficient. They should check on mains in my opinion and they should ask for more drinks. The bar was quiet. If the bar is quiet, it means they're not upselling. The breakfast was absolutely gorgeous. The coffee cups had stains of coffee on the outside. Once we ordered the breakfast, they put the bill on the table while you're eating. That put me off quite a bit. Makes me feel I don't want to order another juice etc...
