Unfortunately the door staff are just unnecessarily rude and aggressive which has left us never wanting to come near this venue or would we ever recommend it. If you leave a door wide open to a venue, with no staff in sight, expect people to walk in. Don’t then confront them rudely and aggressively. A simple conversation stating you couldn’t accept anyone else would have been enough, but the way they acted was completely unacceptable. I understand their jobs can be difficult but for the record, I personally wasn’t drunk and I am shocked how they reacted to the situation.

Regularly visit this pub several times a month if not a week due to their friendly staff, good food and excellent entertainment options. Whether it's a few legs of darts, couple frames of pool or simply watching super Sunday it's hard to find yourself bored with nothing to do. The food is of good quality and often is served very shortly after ordering. Many of the staff are friendly, exceptionally so is Tori and the young lad with the ginger beard - always greeting myself and others on arrival. Would highly recommend this pub/restaurant to others.

This is an excellent place for a meal. I was here for breakfast and it was perfect, the plates were warmed (so many places I've been to where the chefs/cooks think it's ok to put hot food on cold plates - I call those places 'first and last'; the first time I've been there and the last time I'll go there). The food was first class and cooked perfectly. From the moment I walked in the door, I was welcomed by the manageress/owner and she made me feel at home immediately. The waitress, Sophie, was excellent too; very welcoming, joyful but professional, and attentive without being intrusive. I will definitely be returning.

Didnt visit the attached Zoo only the pub but sadly, it was a really poor experience. Customer service was shocking apart from a young 17 year old.who was serving behind the bar. She was friendly. I can only assume the lady that was the manager / proprietor and her colleague were very rude. I get everyone has a bad day and this industry is emotionally and physically draining but just be friendly and communicate nicely with other humans. This review should be constructive to allow ownership to develop on their customer service standards.

After a lovely walk along the river shoreline we stopped for lunch with friends at the pub. My wife and I both had the steak and kidney pudding which was delicious and our friends the roasts which they thoroughly enjoyed. We would like to thank all the staff and especially the chef/cook for a superb Sunday lunch which in our opinion put many others to shame. Ten out of ten and we are definitely going back. The only slight improvement would be that the restaurant area needs a makeover, it’s not very inviting when you first enter. However the overall experience was great, thank you once again.

Booked for Sunday 23rd Feb at 1pm. I was advised that they no longer serve a roast on a Sunday as they have experienced too much waste of food. We arrived just before 1pm to find it empty apart from two men playing darts and a couple sitting at the back of the restaurant area eating. We placed our drinks order at the bar and was given menus immediately. By 1.05pm we had ordered our food... 3 x starters -- prawn bruschetta with chilli sauce (as the soup of the day was not available) and our mains - 1 x lasagne, 1 x beef bourguignon & 2 x lamb shank in a potatoe pie. After enquiring what was happening and a quick visit from the chef to reconfirm the order, we received our starters 40 minutes after they were ordered. The mains were served 1 hour and 20 mins after the order was placed. Whilst the food itself was satisfactory, the edge had been taken off due to the long wait. It was not helped that during our wait we heard other guests who had arrived be told that certain things on the menu were not available! On being asked by the waitress as we were leaving if everything had been okay we said that it was a shame that the food had taken so long. Her reply was that everything is prepared 'fresh' on order and that they consider it better to be fresh than hurried and served quickly. It was claimed that we had been advised that the food is cooked from fresh to order, but we were not able to recall this and it was not mentioned on the menu. The waitresses and bar staff were polite and we acknowledge that the wait was not a fault on their part by any means. We just feel that it would have been nice to be told about the length of time it takes at the time of booking as other restaurants with equally nice food do not take a long to serve even when they are far more busy.
