Had lunch, great food and service, only one thing if you are thinking of a cuppa take your own sugar ,no white 😀 would go again ,clean and friendly and recommended it

Brilliant food, been craving it ever since I moved away from the area, no I’m back I won’t be going anywhere else! 10/10 every-time.

It as been a while since we went in The Star, we went for Lunch but left very disappointed. I had mixed Grill, steak was overcooked and one of the sausage looked recycled unused from breakfast and was dried out, My wifes Gammon undercooked and peas rock hard. On top of that both sets of doors outta and inner were left open and left a cold blast until we ourselves closed a set. Gents Toilets among the worst i have seen in a pub, Smelled strong of Urine and taps on sinks just flop around where the nuts below have come undone. prefer a human touch with orders taken at the table. Will not be repeating visit anytime soon, and not surprised it was not busy as once was.

I really wanted to like this place more as they do have a great selection of cocktails and while I've never eaten there the pancakes look lovely. My gripe is that I have been here three times now and every time my Espresso Martini has been really flat with barely any foam on top at all. It's my cocktail of choice and I'm always disappointed when I order it here. It needs to be shaken well so that it develops a nice creamy foam on top and each time there's only been a little thin layer of patches of foam on top, not even covering the drink. Much better done elsewhere which is a shame so I hope they teach their staff how to make them properly.

We came here with some of our family to visit the animal zoo and to have lunch after next to the playground where the grandchildren played . We ordered our food and were pleasantly surprised at what a great standard the food was when I came. We all had different things to eat and it’s fair to say we all loved what we got. Size and the heat of cooked food was spot on. Well done.

We have been many times without fault. But on this occasion all went well until we asked if the children's ice cream could be vegan. We had already had a conversation with the young lady at the bar as to deserts and had asked about the vegan ice cream that was on the menu for my grandson's as he was lactose intolerant. A little later a bowl of ice cream was presented as part of his meal and I asked if it was the vegan ice cream due to lactose intolerance, the lovely young lady took the dessert to the Kitchen to ask. To which the chef came storming out of the kitchen, approached the table and quite loudly announce that we should have told them there were allergies at the table, waving the menu about and pointing out "please tell us if you have an allergy" quite rudely and in front of a dinning room full of people. It was quite embarrassing and actually scared my grandson as he asked why the lady was shouting! Found this unacceptable as 1. We had already had a descreet conversation with the young lady at the bar who fully understood the INTOLERANCE to lactose. 2. An intolerance is NOT an allergy and therefor not necessary to let anyone know as we just work out from the menu was he can or cannot have on this occasion a burger and chips and an ask to see if a swap the kids ice cream for vegan ice-cream (already an item on the menu!) Unfortunately because of this experience we won't be returning.

Shame about the Hastings arms don't except credit cards unless you pay a Tenner on the card could be why I see so many people parking up and leaving within minutes

We had our wedding reception here and from start to finish the staff were very helpful and accommodating ensuring our plans went without a hitch, the food was absolutely delicious, all our guests commented on how fantastic the venue was and how lovely the food was

Just had a Roast Chicken and a Roast Lamb Dinner delivered. It was still piping hot and delicious. Great price and value, 1 meal had 3 slices of Lamb, 2 nd meal had 1/4 Chicken with both having:- 3 roast potatoes, carrots, peas, Yorkshire pud and gravy. Apple Pie and Custard for Desert.

They call it breakfast for 6 pound ! Its a joke ! Never but never order again from this .... not even a fastfood !

In a rush for quick breakfast , this place seemed to fit the bill . The tea and coffee were hot but fairly tasteless . The toast was soggy with a something other than butter on it and the poached eggs were hard, the bacon was warmed through not cooked , so overall we were not impressed

Went for Sunday lunch and had the three meat roast which was outstanding. The meats were beautifully cooked and potatoes were crispy. Thoroughly recommend, we will be back.

Stayed one night, reception staff was very attentive and given the ground floor room which was really nice, booked us for the restaurant. We ate at the restaurant and we were served by a lovely lady Sara who took her time to explain the meal deal and also was a super star in finding a specific book that my son had seen. Amazing service all round, the room was clean and ready and decaf option was available.
