Came here on a Saturday afternoon for a drink and bite to eat. It was a cold day but we sat in the garden under the heater and felt quite comfortable. Neither the app or WiFi worked unfortunately, but it wasn't a problem as a member of staff came outside to take our order instead. I found the staff attentive and the price reasonable. 2 drinks and 4 large sides came to just £20. Will definitely return if I'm in the area.

We stayed here before going to a nearby wedding venue. The locals in the bar were very friendly, the food was fantastic also portions were huge. Kayleigh was very helpful and couldn’t do enough to make sure our stay was perfect. The beds were comfortable and spotlessly clean, as was the whole room. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place.

We’ve just checked out of the six bells, stayed for 2 nights as were in town for a wedding. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by friendly and helpful staff. We stayed in the family room which was lovely and clean with own private bathroom which was down the hall. At first I was sceptical about not having an en suit in room with 2 children to get ready but was no real problem at all. Breakfast was lovely and all staff went out of their way to ensure our stay was a happy and comfortable one with transfers to wedding venues organised. Thank you very much to all the staff, we really enjoyed our stay.

We had a pre-wedding meal here and the food was all really good, the feedback from my party was all good. The waiting time was a bit long but to be fair they were doing a big christmas meal as well which was booked before us, because of this our food came out at different times, some were waiting a while but we were all in good spirits so not an issue. The food was all delicious, I had the lasagne which was good - not quite to my preference, my heart is closer to very tomato-y Italian original but it was a good lasagne nonetheless.I was getting married the next day and staying at the Six Bells with my 2 best men in a family room. The pub closed at 1am and unfortunately our room was just above the pool/ snooker area where a particularly loud/ competitive family were playing which kept me up. Should not have been much of a problem still, as even waking up at 9 would still be 8 hours but one of my best men was loudly snoring. The radiator was on in our room which I didn't realise and it did get uncomfortably warm, but I like to sleep in a cold room. All of this being said, the bed was fantastically comfortable. The bathroom was decent and clean, if not a bit small, had a shower, sink, toilet got the job done!Breakfast the following morning was really, really good, cannot fault them one bit! Breakfast is included with the rooms, only the mega-breakfast you would have to pay a bit extra for, and the food was fantastic. We also had a shuttle to the wedding venue the following morning at 11:30, which was really good. They normally do them 45 mins before the wedding ceremony and i think pick you up at 11:45pm but as we were staying over at Cooling the following night and had to be onsite early they perfectly catered to our needs. Transfer is £10 per way but if i'm perfectly honest I forgot to pay the guy, or he was being nice as I was the groom but either way, good service.

I stayed here with friends on 15th december as We were attending a wedding at the Cooling Castle Barn. We arrived around 11ish and were going to be dropped off at the wedding venue from 12pm. A comment was made that it was cold in the main bar area where we congregated and also in the rooms when we took our belongings to our rooms. We were told it costs too much to put heating on during the day! Hayley was great and drove the ladies first to the venue then came back for our other halves. We were promptly picked up at 11.15pm at The end of the wedding. We arrived back to cold rooms and felt that the heating hadn't been on at all as all rooms were booked out by us and attended the wedding. There was no additional heater but apparently there was one available but wasn't offered. We all woke up to very cold rooms, the radiator was just about luke warm if that. It's a large room so heating was not sufficient at all plus there was no heating in the shower room. Breakfast was ok, nothing special and not great quality. My 3 friends were already down for breakfast when I arrived and had been given tea and coffee and breakfast order taken. I was asked what I wanted to drink but not what I wanted for breakfast. I assumed I would be asked at some point. The 3 full English breakfasts arrived and again I wasn't asked but shortly afterwards i was given the same breakfast although I didn't request it. It was only afterwards that one of my friends showed me a menu but it wasn't on the table so didn't see it. Staff are very friendly, beds were comfortable but it was let down by the lack of heating which ruined our stay. Unfortunately we had to pay on arrival but there was no one to speak to as the staff do not live on the premises. The lovely lady cooking breakfast had enough to deal with and it probably really wasn't her responsibility. I think if you're paying £80, you at least require the basics and that being heating, so had an uncomfortable stay.

My girlfriend and I stayed here in July 2019, as we were attending a wedding at nearby Cooling Castle Barn We had Room 5, which was a massive double bedroom with adjoining bathroom, that had both a shower and bath. Rooms are accessed via private doorway behind the side bar, and there is a keycode lock entry to the room.Whilst the room was clean and tidy, it felt dated - but was more than comfortable for the night. Surprisingly, the ironing board was communal for the five rooms, as opposed to having one for each room. The room was also comfortable, but is east-facing so became incredibly hot with the sun through the window in the morning.Guests are asked to pay on arrival, and they prefer payments to be in cash. However, the barman gave cashback, before then taking payment for the room, and the return cab fare to Cooling Castle Barn. Although advertised as an "all in" price for the room, the cab fare is separated by the barman, and equates to £5 per person to, and £5 per person from the Barn. The cab seemed to have been operated by the pub itself rather than a cab company, and is prompt in collecting from CC-Barn when the bar closes at 11pm.There is a pub car park situated across the junction from the pub, and is free for patrons, and if this is full, there is plenty of street parking. The breakfast was ok with freshly baked croissants, and came with any cooked breakfast desired and requested by the guest (within reason).Whilst the room and staff were perfectly pleasant, the pub and small village that the pub sits in is incredibly isolated. If you are staying here for one night as a wedding guest, it is perfectly suitable. However, if we were to go to a wedding at the same location again, we would probably choose to stay elsewhere.

A classic village pub that has not quite made it when it comes to updating. Situated right next to/on the main road in a very pretty, yet busy, location in Cliffe the establishment is fairly large with several, dark interconnecting bars - none of which are particularly modern, spacious or stylish. There is a beer garden with tables and benches. A fair selection of beers and spirits and a food menu is available but the meals (a very small kitchen) on offer seemed to lack any form of imagination (pizzas, sandwiches, eggs & chips etc). The main ('working') bar is very busy indeed - we had to endure several hours of very loud, 'strong language'... The accommodation (De-lux double/ensuite ) was very spacious and nicely decorated ( with the smallest TV I have ever seen!) but the ensuite bathroom, had no shelves or storage whatsoever - so our toiletries etc had to be put on the floor. No storage for clothes but there was a frame for hanging delicate items . Our breakfast was very tasty, substantial and cooked to order - but there were certainly no frills whatsoever. There is parking nearby. Saying all this we were treated 'royally' and were made to feel welcome throughout our stay. In my opinion the cost is very much overpriced.

We stayed here as we had a wedding at Cooling Castle. Friendly staff and the added bonus of having a car to take and pickup from Cooling Castle which takes the hassle out of getting a taxi. Our room was very spacious and clean. I asked for a fan as the room was warm and was given one. There was tea and coffee in the room and 2 bottles of water.Breakfast in the morning was plentiful ( a full English) with buttered toast , tea and orange juice. Filled us up for the day. Many thanks.

Avoid this hotel! Startered off kinda well when we was able to get in our room except asking us for payment even though we had already paid we had lunch in the garden was lovely then it all went downhill. The private bathroom we had which is a couple doors down so me and husband took it in turns to shower kids to be told to stop showering as it was leaking well it wasnt possible to stop my husband and daughter showering mid shower so told to wait and not shower while he finds us another ensuite nothing I go down to ask if anything no nothing so just have to use it then where we felt under pressure me and my daughter literally jumped in and out. No service was avilable to get us to cooling castle which was the main selling point for us so ordered a uber. When we got back the room was unforcomfertable and hot we had all windows open which welcomed noise in which we didnt care end of day your above a pub but still did not make the room any cooler! To get to bathroom you need a key to get in and out which are stiff with locks so have to keep moving and pushing door which creates noise so when 4 years old child need a wee at 4am sure people in rooms next door didnt appreciate our noise. There was dead spiders and bugs in the room. Women in morning was good breakfast was good. When I went to mention my un happiness she said manager away speak when back but we had a room avilable you should of been given that one to shower in but I advised we were told there was nothing avilable!. Just called to speak to manager and WOW! SHOCKING CUSTOMER SERVICE WORST EVER!!! we paid £136 for a room with separate bath room 2 adults 2 children out of everyone at the wedding we paid the most for accommodation and had less of a room. My advice look around more. Very disappointed that even the manager could not even be bothered to listen then just ask so what...as in what am I complaining about! Disgusting I've worked in customer service for 15 years and never come across something so shocking! Room was defo over priced biggest waste of money!... would not recomened to anyone.

We stayed here for a couple of days while visiting friends in Cliffe. The rooms are nice and spacey, the Pub is really good. The breakfast (the good old "full english") was very good, plentyful and delicious. The service was very friendly. The only "downside" was - when you stay at the B&B; over a weekend you must be aware of the noise from the pub below. It is very well going and on Friday and Saturday it is very busy. In the rooms upstairs you can hear that quite clearly.

After a long walk we decided to have lunch at The Six Bells. The best decision we could have made. Firstly , the bar maid was the loveliest , friendliest bar maid we have come across for along time ...even asking me if my wine was ok - and it was lovely. Ale good also. The lunch was a real surprise. Whoever the cook was who made the chicken pie should be proud of such an amazing meal - loads of chicken and a sauce that you could tell was homemade - so tasty - and real mash not instant and cabbage, beans, peas and carrots - all fresh - best pub meal I've had for months if not years. My husband's spaghetti bolognese was amazing - large portion all homemade by the looks of it and a bowl of cheese to go on top. Great food, great drinks, great value and great music - someone on the same musical wavelength as me! Friendly, honest and such a welcome find after such a beautiful walk in Cliffe Pools. Can't wait to do it again.

There is so much to like about this pub. Decoration is contemporary, with great use of untreated wood, the furniture is good quality and very comfortable, cleanliness is to an extremely high standard, the beer is good, and the barmaid is one of the cheeriest people I've had the good fortune to meet, as well as one of the hardest working. But the food........ Our party of seven had to wait almost an hour after placing our order, and when it came, the food was a huge disappointment. None of it had been seasoned, sausages and burgers had been burnt, nothing was garnished, and it was all bland in the extreme.
