The best restaurants serving British food in Brighton and Hove South East

19/05/2025 UPDATE: Not so keen on this pub now. Prices for food are incredibly high for the portions. Plus a rocky hard potato rosti which we raised with the manager's wife was apologised for but not replaced or refunded. It also feels quite 'clicky' so we've not felt as welcome recently, perhaps as we don't go often enough? The entertainment has slipped a bit, too. There are lots of other more friendly and cheaper pubs which we feel comfortable in. May 2024: Great little pub with upstairs seating / dining. Querky decor, good selection of beers, ales and wines. Fantastically friendly, funny and knowledgeable staff. Delicious food with great vegan options! Plus a wonderful choice of entertainment and quizzes on Wednesday evenings. What's not to love?!

First time visiting and it was for drag bingo and I’ll definitely be back! The pub is small but it adds to the atmosphere and the drag bingo show was absolutely hilarious!!

Really great cafe and coffee. I Want to give a special shout out to Polly who was extremely attentive the whole time. Great service.

En primer lugar, The Brighton ES UN PUB no un restaurante y NO sirve comida. Dicho esto, los clientes son bienvenidos a traer comida - hay una excelente tienda de pescado y patatas fritas cerca. Hay una buena mezcla de personas, incluyendo residentes locales, turistas, personas esperando un tren o bajando de la estación de tren. El estado de ánimo del pub cambia según el día y la hora - un gran lugar para una pinta tranquila, reunirse con amigos y participar en concursos de pub o escuchar música en vivo, dependiendo del día. Soy un 'habitual' en el pub y lo hice mi local hace 20 años y nunca he mirado atrás. El personal es muy amable y amable. Los recién llegados siempre son bienvenidos, así como los miembros de la comunidad LGBTQ. Si eres nuevo en Brighton, siempre hay alguien alrededor para ayudar con las direcciones y consejos sobre lugares para alojarse y comer. El propietario se enorgullece de la limpieza del pub. El pub admite perros. Sirve cerveza local, Harvey's.

Cannot recommend TFI Lunch enough. Easily the best cafe in Brighton. Amazing food, so friendly and great value. Lovely area to sit and eat too if you choose to eat in. 10/10

Poplar little roadside cafe on the A259 road Hove. Poplar with Trades people. Opens from 6am and closes at 1pm. Appears to good value meals ranging from Full breakfast to salads and scampi and chips and Rolls to order if required . Always hot and tasty Lovely staff always very pleasant

The best coffee and toasties Brighton. And don’t get me started on the Victoria Sponge! ❤️ Owen and Tracy are the loveliest people - so friendly and full of hints and tips about the City. My new favourite place.

We had a huge Sunday roast here, best beef I’ve had at a pub no exaggeration. Really nice, friendly pub will def be back for the bangers & mash ☺️

Fantastic little place, framed beautifully within its own narrow street with the sea at the end. Lovely outside seating area and quirky decor within. Great beers and wines with cocktails as well. The staff are friendly and cool. It's a great place to enjoy company or just stare wistfully at tge sea.

I was pleased to see the cafe open again after it was closed for my last visit to Brighton in July. Sad news about the previous owner. I had a lovely breakfast and the service was fab too. The music gave a very relaxing atmosphere. I came back again today and everything was as good as yesterday. I'm glad the cafe is back and I'm liking Hervé's signature he's added to the place. *************************** Visited again 6 months after my initial review and Hervé's is still as fab. Lovely quality breakfast. The bacon and toast are great quality which make a breakfast but love, love, love the mushrooms. The service is great too. Looking forward to July when I can visit again.

What a great little bar, really lovely beers and snacks!

Good ambience and beach views. Our £17 glass of champagne was served in a plastic glass! Nachos were tasty and fresh.
