Great LGBT pub, came with some friends on Friday, very nice staff and very good value . Nice seating and very clean , always love coming here

I have been coming to Brighton for a few years now,primarily for Brighton Pride.One of the best and friendly LBGTQIA pub.I am a straight woman and I would recommend any straight, gay ,transgender person etc al to attend there for fun,laughter and entertainment. A very safe and friendly place to visit.

Had a lovely evening. People so inklusive and friendly. Small cosy bar, as they should be.

Don’t think twice and just step in. We only had one night in Brighton, so we went there on a Sunday, there was live music, the greatest staff, and customers were all… fitting: chatty, joking, all we love. We understand there are a lot of different events and had we stayed longer in Brighton, there’s no doubt we’d have been there every night. We can only recommend, not just a pub: a unique moment. Thank guys, hopefully we’ll be back ☺️

We went the other evening after work with some colleagues. The pub is not very large, however it is very characteristic and fully reflects the soul of Brighton. We managed to find a seat and sit down to drink a few beers. We tasted several English beers including a particular one proposed by the restaurant. Advised!

First time in this pub. Our friend did a gig, and the bar staff were good in putting up with our singing and dancing all night. Thank you x

Been coming down to Brighton for work for the last 2 years and trying different pubs each time, this has to be the best pint in Brighton.

Only popped in for quick drink, was quiet and staff seemed lovely. But not much atmosphere during the day as expected

So popped in for the Monday open mic night , we were getting "Down wit da Kids" 🎸😎🎸. Which we thought was excellent night of music , and the good news non of that old Elvis Bollockks stuff. Alls good, we shall hopefully return, as the oldest of the bunch

First off, Thei Brighton is a pub not a restaurant and does not serve food. Having said that, customers are welcome to bring in food - there is a excellent Fish and Chip Shop near by. There is a good mix of people, including local residents, holiday makers, people waiting for a train or coming down from the train station. The mood of the pub changes according to the day and time - a great place for a quiet pint, meeting with friends and taking part in pub quizes or listening to live music, depending on the day. I am a 'regular' at the pub and made it my local 20 years ago and have never looked back. The staff are very chatty and friendly. Newcomers are always welcome as well as members of the LGBTQ community. If you are new to Brighton, there's always someone arond to help with directions and advice on places to stay and eat. The owner takes great pride in the cleanliness of the pub. The pub is dog friendly. It serves the local beer, Harvey's.

Loved this place, especially the staff, who efficiently dealt with a customer who took a swing at a customer because they had spoken above the music. Sorry, but this is NOT a concert venue. In pubs we do not expect talk to stop. This is a great, social pub where talk is de rigeur, and at a volume to be heard above background music.

This is a great venue catering to locals and tourists alike. Nice selection of beers and spirits. Lovely staff and the landlords alright too.

Hi Lilly, We're saddened to hear you felt discriminated against. That is not how we run our pub as we always aim to be inclusive and respectful of everybody. Unfortunately, we do have CCTV footage of your group bringing outside drinks into the establishment, which we asked you not to drink on-site (only to be ignored). If that was the only issue, however, we would not have asked you to leave. Our alcohol-free options are extensive and not limited to only orange or tomato juice. One of your party did throw up on the table, which was a shame, but it wouldn't have been a reason to kick you out if they weren't laying face first on it. We asked you to leave for the two reasons stated above, as they're breaches of both our licensing objectives and our duty of care as an establishment. We'd hoped this would be it. Not more than 5 minutes later we then see one of you, once again on CCTV, sticking what we later identified as a soiled sanitary pad on one of our windows. We do believe the costumers is always right, but sadly, that's not the case this time. You're welcome to come in and discuss this with us further, if you wish to do so. I arrived in a bit of a panic trying to find a place that had wifi where I could work for a few hours (and do an interview) and Sarah-Jane (I think the manager) was super helpful. I ended up staying all afternoon and had a couple of drinks after. It's a lovely, cosy, local feeling pub and the prices are really reasonable for Brighton. Thank you for all the local recommendations and fantastic service. I will absolutely be coming back!

A cosy old pub. We dropped in to get out of the rain and a few more times after while on holiday. A very freindly bar, people went out of their way to chat and make us feel welcome. A lovely inviting place to enjoy a drink with good people.

In Brighton for one night only and happened upon this great little pub. Enjoyed a pint of Harveys Pale Ale. Very friendly atmosphere, they dimmed the lights and lit candles. There was a charity curry evening and the smell was wonderful. Sadly, we had already booked a table elsewhere - otherwise would have likely stayed for another pint and maybe a curry!!

We dropped in for a quick drink and were pleasantly surprised. It doesn't look much from the outside, but the interior is warm and welcoming and the barman was very funny and friendly. We found the tiny but cool garden and enjoyed the warm summer air with our drinks

Lovely little pub on the main road into the North Lanes. Easily overlooked but definitely worth making the effort to find it. There are enough regulars to make a cosy and friendly atmosphere. A few friendly dogs helped as well! Bar service was warm but efficient. Apparently May used to work in the wine business which became obvious when she discovered that the wine had been open too long, and opened another bottle. Highly recommended!

Didn't get to sample the food on this occassion bit found the atmosphere and service to be top notch. Most enjoyable especially if you have a kiwi back ground.

Great Morris dancing outside this pub. It is a no nonsense pub with plenty of space and in a super location kind of in-between the tourists and the locals. A sweet spot one could say. Staff were nice and friendly too when I visited.

Just returned from a lovely family dinner here. Food was really good and service was great. Special mention to our waitress Serena who was amazing and looked after us all night. Nothing too much trouble. Would recommend.

I booked a table for the Sunday quiz. Four of us and a whippet were given a lovely table and then sat for the afternoon enjoying the banter, the quizmaster - and the questions. Maybe not the 'guess the song' ones...Useless, we were! Wish it was more local to us. Well done - you were ALL friendly and entertaining.

A great pub with a warm welcome and a lovely fire in the Winter! Tony the landlord serves an awesome Bloody Mary and a great value New Zealand wine by the bottle. On a sunny day you can sit at small tables outside which face south, so you can people watch and get a tan at the same time! A regular venue of mine!

Decided to stop for a few drinks before heading home from Brighton. The welcome was warm both figuratively and literally (happy guy behind the bar and a roaring fire). Beer was nice and cold and my other half was given almost "somelier" advice on the Tanqueray Seville gin. Compact and bijou, we didn't realise there was a second part of the pub (had been a long day) and we didn't want to lose the spot by the fire. Lovely place and will now be the "go to" put stop before the train.

Regular visitor to brighton but our first visit here. Was instantly served and made to feel welcome by the barman Music was excellent and stayed for quite a few more drinks - the locals were all very welcoming. Will definitely visit again

I was meant to write this back when we visited in July but life got in the way. I came to this pub with my boyfriend, my dad and his partner and we had a really special time, which was mainly down to the wonderful staff. We visited on a Friday evening in July and so it was fairly busy but we were always served quickly and efficiently, with a real warmth from the staff. We were all fairly merry and the staff were so lovely to us and really indulged our poor dancing (at one point we did have a boogie). The music was great and it was a really relaxed atmosphere. Prior to the pub closing we were kindly offered fish and chips (that the chippy a few doors down regularly give to the pub). My dad and his partner (who are both shy and can often feel uncomfortable socially), spoke endlessly about how much they loved their evening in the Brighton Tavern. Lovely, charming pub in a great location - but it's the staff that make it special. Thank you! Claire

I come here every month a lovely place were you can just be yourself would recommend to anyone not tryed the food but do a very good bag of crisps.

Came here with my husband. Come here every time we come to stay at our flat in Brighton. Always friendly bar staff and locals. Great welcome and great beer. We normally pop in with our French bulldog Bert but came to Brighton without him this weekend. Still had a nice time apart from one local who was rude when we left the bar. Bar staff were lovely and said goodbye but my husband heard a rude comment about “get on the train day trippers.” So sad as we always go to the pub for the friendly people and I am hard of hearing so horrible to find out from my husband that someone said nasty things as we left. We didn’t get the train we went back to our flat in Kemptown. I was quite upset as was happy when we left the pub at how lovely the bar staff had been. To hear from my husband who can hear well what was said was upsetting. I hope his person doesn’t go to the tavern regularly as we love to pop in from time to time. That aside I love this pub. It’s my favourite pub in Brighton and highly recommended. A shame about the upsetting comment from a customer. Not the taverns fault. Next time I will take Bert for protection from mean people :-)

Nos dejamos caer por un trago rápido y quedamos gratamente sorprendidos. No parece mucho desde el exterior, pero el interior es cálido y acogedor, y el camarero era muy divertido y amable. Encontramos el jardín pequeño pero fresco y disfrutamos del aire cálido del verano con nuestras bebidas

Expensive but pleasant staff and very old school! Dark interior and a few steps for wheelchairs difficult. Clean loos and quietly secluded! A nice respite!

A lovely old pub with real fire and rustic surroundings and lots of gin. The pussy is a friendly addition. Seating a bit hard too area better for wheelchairs. Reasonably priced for North Laine.

El pub es genial. Equipo encantador que sirve detrás de la barra. Un salto en un descarado comprobar desfile de Gin Tonic. Hay una buena selección de ginebras de calidad y optamos por una grúa de frambuesa imbuido de Edimburgo Tan buena que cada dos dobles antes de salir de los eventos del día.

Yo siempre me a la Brighton pop Taberna cuando visito Brighton. Es un local donde el personal del bar parecía saber todo el mundo y dar una cálida bienvenida a aquellos que no lo hagan. Sirven Sussex mejor es una excelente cerveza. Los clientes son muy amables.

Hemos estado en la taberna vuelve a Brighton, en el corazón de la zona norte de laine de Brighton por un número de años y me di cuenta de que nunca he escrito un comentario. Este es un lugar maravilloso, la cerveza (o en mi caso Guinness) siempre es genial, la música es (generalmente) no demasiado alto, pero sobre todo el ambiente es siempre agradable y acogedor. Me han impactado hasta las conversaciones más interesantes y a menudo entretenido con extraños en el este pub que ningún otro. Tiene un ambiente encantador, el tipo de lugar que envuelve sus brazos alrededor de usted como usted camina a través de la puerta. Chats todo el mundo a la otra, y cada otros perros y el gato. En Brighton por sólo una noche y nos encontramos con este pequeño gran pub. Disfrutamos de una pinta de Harveys Pale Ale. Ambiente muy agradable, se apagaron las luces y encendieron velas. Había una caridad noche curry y el olor era maravilloso. Por desgracia, nos había reservado una mesa en otro lado - lo contrario sería probablemente pasado otra pinta y quizás un curry! !

He estado unas 4.50 libra, como un Señor en Brighton durante casi dos décadas y este pequeño establecimiento es buena sin duda en mis mejores 50 pubs en nuestra ciudad Gay. El encantador personal del bar nos llenó con papel de Atención y bolígrafos para permitir que el documento la fantástica vida de Bill nigeriano y sus hermanos ... Lo que es más cuando mi novia se dio cuenta de que había perdido su railcard se aseguraba de que el día siguiente me llamó y el hombre riotously mincey del bar que él tenía detrás de la barra. Este es un pequeño pub, pero tiene una excelente variedad de bebidas que son rápidamente y de manera eficiente servido por el agradable personal del bar. Super pub with wonderfully friendly staff (the sign behind the bar says it all - "Be nice or leave". It's even dog friendly. Seats outside facing south so wonderful on a sunny evening.
