Cafe and Salvage in Brighton and Hove

Taste sensation! I literally wanted to order EVERYTHING off the menu. I finally settled for Kimchi cheese toasted sandwich after almost ordering the dirty eggs...next time.

Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. Lots to look at and great tunes. But best of all the FOOD - the Kimcheese sandwich and the Elixir are my lunch recommendations. Food that tastes amazing and leaves you feeling GOOD X

this coffee shop is gorgeous. vibe is great, food is good and coffee is decent. It has a very extend tea menu! the place is absolutely beautiful, full of knick knacks that are for sale (some) the staff is great but maybe 3 people is not enough, saying this as hospitality worker

Delicious food and great vibe! The staff were really welcoming and helpful when amending a menu item to be gluten free. We both had the breakfast burrito. Super tasty and filling! Would def recommend ☺️

Honestly the most delicious brunch bowl ever .. with special jasmine green tea - divine. I love the atmosphere in here - vintage and quirky - and super lovely staff. Only area to improve would be the loo .. but that can be overlooked .. as everything else is so excellent. Would travel far and wide for this cafe vibe and food .. will be back soon , thank you 🙏🏼

I don’t usually write reviews, also because I work in the industry and I know how hard it is. With this in mind, I do have to comment on the lack of service from this cafe on this occasion. Me and my partner had ordered food, and on my breakfast was quite obviously a human (or animal) hair on my plate. Omce when I made the server aware, they were initially polite and took the food back to the kitchen to discuss with the chefs. What came next I did not expect, but it was explained to me that this in fact wasn’t a hair, but a ‘herb’. Now, I don’t know what sort of herb looks like this, but it was quite obvious that if this was a micro herb of some sort then this would be scattered along the plate (and not just one). I was told that no animals are allowed in the establishment, and the chef doesn’t have any hair - so this could not be the case. Nonetheless, I asked if it could be made again (politely) due to my hesitation. Momentarily after, the server allowed 2 dogs to come in, and the chef came out to take the order, with a moustache matching the exact colour of the hair on my plate. Laughable. Overhearing my concern, my remade meal was dumped on my table with no word from the server and no apology. I work in hospitality myself, so again I know re-making food can be annoying, but in the case where hygiene becomes involved that does open the establishment up for questioning, and at the least, a transactional apology of the food off should be normal. Not the case - won’t be returning.

A unique place with a great food and drink menu and a lovely vibe! I only stopped in for a quick bite to eat for breakfast, and I had a blast. I had the healthy brunch bowl, where everything was well cooked and seasoned, and as a non-vegan, still thoroughly enjoyed it and wouldn’t have said anything was missing. The chunky avocado was a great touch too, way better than the mushy stuff. To drink I had the health elixir - or in normal terms, a honey, lemon, tumeric and ginger tea. Fresh and vibrant, it was perfectly sweet and spicy, and very delicious indeed. The vibes in the place are spot on, being friendly and welcoming like the staff, and the decor is just fabulous with all the random vintage bits and bobs around the place. They offer cakes too, but it’s the large food selection, creative and tasty, and extensive drinks options, especially teas, which makes this place stand out!

Was served a black coffee by a sweet little girl, she said her name was Lottie, she was fantastic, gave me all the information about the town and served me a lovely ramen what was packed full of flavour, She then went in to tell me it was made by a lovely gentleman named Joe. From my understanding they are together and make a fantastic power couple runny the place like king and queen. 5🌟

Great little place with heaps of character and very nice people... specifically the person from California who loved my dog. I'll be back soon for lunch!

Stopped by Salvage cafe for a quick breakfast. Ordered marmalade toast with sourdough bread and a pot of tea. Generous portions, I couldn't eat it all. Would definitely return on my next trip to Hove

Every single cake at this cafe looked amazing and their cake menu is always changing. We had the Salted Caramel Walnut Cake and it was heavenly! What's also unique about this cafe is that they are filled with interesting decor items that you can purchase - what a great idea to combine a thrift store with a cafe. A must visit when you are in Brighton !

The food here is incredible! I had the green bowl which was really tasty and I wanted to be healthy, but I couldn’t choose as there was so many great options. Cakes are also amazing 😋

We came here on our last day at Brighton it was the perfect breakfast before the long travel home. The decorations are all very unique and they have different things up for sale around the cafe. I'm a vegetarian with lactose intolerance ordered the health bowl which I loved. All my family meals looked lovely. The only thing I would say is the green juice was not what I had expected but still tested nice.

Exciting, creative furnishings and ideas. For example, the menu appears as an album cover with the dishes listed where the song content would otherwise be. The service gives off a good vibe and really improves the atmosphere. My salmon and avocado brunch was delicious, latte and matcha are also highly recommended.

Super cafe with imaginative menu. The atmosphere is great - very laid back and customers can choose the music themselves from the good vinyl collection by the turntable.

Found this place online and was persuaded by reviews. Did not disappoint. Quirky with a capital ‘Q’. Totally up our street; from the decor, such friendly staff and the menu delivered. The flavors of the food were exceptional, and to see the chef produce food to such a high quality in such a small work area was impressive. If we lived here, this would be my regular hang out. Best brunch food we’ve ever eaten. Thank you!

The menu was so great, I wanted everything! Ended up getting the big green bowl and my friend got the ranchos heuvos, both were amazing. Staff were lovely and the decor was unique. Cannot wait to return.

Friendly coffee shop with (obviously) a salvage theme in its decor and furniture, tables inside and outside and some good homemade cakes.

Front of house fella with the moustache was lovely and makes a fantastic coffee. The food was on another level though, really well considered menu, can't fault anything. Moving to Brighton so we can eat here every day x

Cool decor, and good chai latte. However, I ordered a "goldie" cake which I realised after a couple of bites contained peanut butter - I'm allergic to peanuts. I sent it back, but couldn't get a replacement as all their cakes are made with almond flour and I'm allergic to almonds too! They didn't charge me for it, but there should at least be allergen labels on the cakes.

Great place with warm and friendly staff. This is a local business and has exceptional service and the coffee is second to none.

Interesting interior to this place! Lots of oddities to look at whilst you eat/drink. My girlfriend had a lovely Halloumi Wrap with an explosion of flavours, same with the grilled Kim cheese melt which i had. Really toasted perfectly with all kinds of juicy bits. Great vinyl played music and lovely hot chocolate/coffee. There was also some great greetings cards for sale which were expertly drawn of which my girlfriend couldn't resist purchasing! Standard prices really not too expensive and overall worth every penny. Thanks for the lovely experience. Chris & Pen.

Went for first time today. Food looked delicious, will have next time. Cake 10/10. Vibe and staff all bloody lovely gorgeous humans. Baby changing facility too. Love looking around inside. Also dog friendly. Tick tick tick

Love the quirkiness of the interior/design. The atmosphere was cool and good choice of music in the cafe 👍 the service took long tho i understand it was a busy Saturday. I was also informed that food will take like 20mins to make but i waited since i was already there. It came more than 20mins which is okay cause they only got 1 staff taking orders at the same time she was also serving food. It was just heavy for her. The food was good but the bread under it was just hard for me to slice (its just me maybe) hehe

"...where everybody knows your name..." My go-to Cafe, sitting room away from home. A wonderful collection of people from different walks of life, from the corporate titan, to the artist, to the musician, to the university student to the occasional celebrity. A great place do a bit of work (for those who like a bit of background stimulation) or for those looking for a welcome and relaxing change of scene along with a cuppa and perhaps a tasty treat - I fancy the dahl in the winter with a chocolate brownie or goldie as a chaser. And, of course, there's the obligatory toad tossing (it's a long story - enquire within...). You can't go wrong!!

Salvage has always been great but it’s breakfast-brunch-lunch menu has just gone from strength to strength, and the cakes are the best around. And what a fabulous, unique place it is. Beloved.

Absolutely love this place - total gem. The food is cracking and great value and there's always a great vinyl on the record player. Also they now have toad in the hole downstairs!

Give yourself some time in Salvage... Where else do you get to choose the tunes to go with your food?! Salvage is a joyful cafe and offers brilliantly priced food and drinks, not over inflated as per some cafés not too far away... Super friendly staff, and I need to mention the art to look at and purchase if something grabs you. This is a place to visit and enjoy, at the moment it's Time by Culture Club that I'm tapping my foot to, to go with a delicious Veggie sausage and egg toast sandwich.

Salvage is the best local cafe, the cakes there are incredible, with always a new creative dish or dessert to try, like the one on the picture, fresh figue, pair and feta bruschetta, with herb oil and seeds to give some balance to the sweet and salty. Thank you to the lovely staff

Plenty of salvage to be seen in this cosy and cute cafe. Went here with my partner for Saturday brunch and ordered the special of mushrooms with blue cheese. It was really tasty! we both loved it actually. Staff were very friendly. It's pretty small, so if you're lucky you'll get a seat 😉

Lovely ambience and quirky presentation, nice young smiley staff. Either I'm getting bigger or breakfasts are getting smaller! The coffee was nice enough. Absolutely loved the sounds of vinyl records playing warming tunes.

Nice atmosphere, kind friendly staff and really good food. We had the special which was mushrooms with a blue cheese sauce, avocado and a fried egg. It tasted amazing. Would give my meal six stars if I could. Clever and original.

I Googled this place. My Google search was exactly: good breakfast, Hove. I was led to Salvage. I had the plate of the day which included potatoes, arugula, two fried eggs, red peppers and mushrooms along with the tastiest sauce, which didn't make me miss bacon (its a pescatarian joint unbeknowest to me). Sprinkled with some tasty seeds. This meal gave me life! All the ingredients met with the tender love that chose the ingredients and produce made this hands down one of my favorite meals in The South :) thanks for a dope meal on my holiday. When I come back I'll put a record on.

Best cafe in Hove! The cakes/blondies are amazing, the coffee is great, and the tea selection is unrivalled (you even get free refills after ordering your first tea pot!). The music is also always great.

Adore this spot - and tonight’s supper club by Smalls Brighton was an exceptional addition. Beautifully sourced small plates,executed and delivered by owner/ head chef Jack of Smalls Brighton. Tonight felt like a huge treat and the BYO wine was very clever.. loved the salvaged ice trough! A night of fabulous details, delicious plates of vegan/ vegetarian food and wonderful engaged staff. Bringing all my friends back.. fact. Go Jack ✌🏽

Love everything about this cafe. Great quirky unique place, delicious teas, brunch and cakes, really friendly service. Salmon and scrambled eggs is amazing, huge portion with loads of delicious buttered sourdough toast on the side. Teas are loose leaves in a pot and they'll top up with hot water for free. Cakes are ridiculously tasty, especially if you can get the peanut butter brownie!

Salvage is my favourite cafe in Brighton! Everyone these is really lovely, the space is really cosy and they make great chai tea and cakes!

Very unique coffee shop. Great music, not distracting at all. The coffee was a bit too hot for my liking, but nothing time couldn't fix. Very nice cake selection, we had the peanut butter and a cheesecake type thingie and they were both delicious.

Best mocha I have ever had! Friendly staff and great atmosphere.

It was a lovely cafe to relax on a rainy day. It has a comforting feel with a good selection of cakes. You can buy almost everything that is on display apart from the vinyls and a few other things. I was on my own and felt incredibly at ease, just spending time reading with a tea and cake. A safe haven.
