We received someone else’s order instead of our own as the restaurant had not clearly labelled the bags; we called to tell them this and they said they’d send us a new order. We waited for a further 45 minutes and after multiple calls they then told us they were too busy and couldn’t issue a new order until we gave them the other order back to them which is totally ridiculous as this was not our fault at all and we have been left without or an apology! Won’t be ordering again :)

It's a chippy but this time we have meat and potato pie, steak pudding and chips, peas and gravy every thing was just right, we'd go again tomorrow.

This is the worst chippy I have ever been to. The chips are not fresh and are greasy. The fish was hard and again greasy Absolutely awful

One couple served 15 mins after the other couple. Only 4 people in total. Had to remind them & and then the 2 meals appeared instantly. Likely the waitress had forgotten to bring them out. No apology. One meal had uncooked vegetables. Called a waitress over and all she said was “I’ll take it back”, but our friend declined, deciding to omit the veg; and then she said “I’ll tell the chef.” No apologies; just a surly face. We heard nothing more. We should have requested free coffees all round. But they should have been offered. And 2 beef burgers tasted slightly of beef but with something added; likely to bulk it up. Never again.

New to the area this seems to be a great place to start the night before level. Busy atmosphere and fair beers prices before 9 after 9 it goes up to £4 a pint Just need to point out to other girls my age be careful when requesting songs as the Dj got abit over friendly with me and run his hands across my bum whilst staring at my chest. This made me feel very uneasy as he is clearly an older gentleman in his 50s. I did bring this too the attention too the doors staff who just laughed shrugged there shoulders and that’s him for you ..

Called in for breakfast. Very disappointing from start to finish. Vastly overpriced for a mediocre meal. I asked how much toast you got with the breakfast and was told it was two slices. I received one slice cut into two pieces.

Visited the store to shop and have lunch. Decided to give the revamped Bannisters another try after experiencing poor food and service on previous visits. Sadly, no change this time. The new layout and decor does nothing to enhance what could and should be an excellent restaurant. New layout with high back banquette seating makes it dark and dismal. Previous layout was far better. We waited around five minutes for someone to arrive to show us to a table (12.20). The restaurant was approximately 50% full. Seated with menus, but advised the kitchen had run out of coffee and eggs! we then spent over 15 minutes trying to get our order taken. The table on our left walked out after 20 minutes. Order evenutally taken for two chicken supreme dinners. These finally arrived after a futher of 30 minutes. Chicken and Yorkshire puddings were almost cold. The Yorkshire pudding was black on the outside and soggy in the middle. Chicken not as tender as expected. (Frozen) Roast potatoes were rock hard on the outside. Vegetables were bordering on raw rather than al dente. However, the cheese sauce was nice. The Manager was certainly not managing the area and obviously there are still issues in the kitchen. Wrong meals been sent out/returned. Staff training required. The Hive is now closed for what I presume is yet another reincarnation. We used to enjoy the Fish restaurant, but that went from been very good to mediocre. The food and service over the past fews years has certainly gone downhill and for the catering to survive a huge over haul is required. We did mention all the above to the waitress and on paying our bill (which was reduced by 10%).

Delicious food! One of the best takeaways in rossendale and certainly the best fish and chips place I have ever been. Clean, fresh & modernised menu.

Avoid Sunday lunch here unless you like very bland, tasteless, underdone roast beef that you would struggle to get a knife through as it is as tough as old boots. Here if something is not right rude arrogant jobs worth staff blame the customer!!! I only managed to eat the roast potatoes and made staff aware of the problems. See more detailed review under Skiddaw hotel. A score of 3.5 on Trip Adviser speaks for itself. I wish I had checked the reviews beforehand.

Stopped for a bacon and sausage barm. I was hoping the sausage wasn't a run of the mill catering type but I was sadly disappointed. I do understand that to keep prices low some cafés have to buy cheaper produce but I'd rather pay a little more for quality food. Staff are lovely but won't be stopping again.

First and last time I will be using this place. The chips were pale and flacid and the fish! Were do I start! I asked for an extra large lightly battered fish. It was about 1cm thick. I took it back and asked for my money back and was told it was because it was lightly battered. Did I get my £10.20 back? Yes I did! I wasn't going to leave without it. Time to turn the building back to a public toilets. Sorry but I can't leave 0 so I will have to leave it 1. But it really is a 0.

I enjoyed a pub grub meal here although not cheap. The weirdest thing was when I asked for another drink there was no table service - I would have had to go to the bar again. The food was tasty though and the decor light and modern.

I really don’t like giving poor ratings because I recognise the difficulties in the hospitality industry at the moment but there were few saving graces here. The Mollington Banastre used to be one of Chester’s best hotels and excellent lunch venues but I hadn’t visited for years. When I saw a voucher on offer for afternoon tea I bought one for my wife and two friends for a trip down memory lane. What a disappointment. The dining room was empty but for us and lacked warmth and atmosphere. The food offering was incredibly poor. The sandwiches lacked taste and imagination, the scones were small and along with the cakes looked and tasted as though they had been bought up the road at Morrisons. The only positive was the service which was good. Afternoon tea isn’t necessarily a good guide to the main aspects of a hotel but the quality and ambiance we experienced give me concern. It will be years again before we choose to come back.
