Called in for breakfast. Very disappointing from start to finish. Vastly overpriced for a mediocre meal. I asked how much toast you got with the breakfast and was told it was two slices. I received one slice cut into two pieces.

Average at best, we had the ploughman’s for sharing. To say it was a rip off is an understatement. Half a large pork pie, bit of bread, bit of cheese, small bit of salad. Probably about £7 worth of food for £20. Her indoors would not let me complain. Just won’t go again.

The staff were very good and accommodating. Very welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. That’s the big positive. It was a Monday evening and I understand that most places don’t do food on a Monday. I visited and was advised that they only do pizza on a Monday evening. Again that was not an issue. The real problem was with the quality of the Pizza. The base had so much tomato sauce that the topping was sliding off. Again so much cheese pilled on top made it just a gooey mess and not a nice thing to eat. The best part was the crust which was nice and crisp around the edges but totally soggy with the excess sauce and cheese when you moved in from the outside. With a pizza less is generally best. A shame, as it was possibly the worst Pizza I have had in years. Let’s finish on a positive. The beer was excellent and kept very well. If the Pizza was great you would have had a 5 star. I will call in again when in the area and try some of the other food you generally have on offer.

I was a bit hesitant about returning after our last visit but my friend had heard good things. Wow, what a difference, really friendly young chap, hands on and super efficient. We both had the Avocado, Mushroom and Halloumi sandwich with an excellent Americano. This could be our first port of call in Alsager for breakfast going forward.

We called in for a mid morning snack. The table was clean and the service good. Unfortunately my scone was stale, when I mentioned it the only offer was to revive it in the microwave which made it warm and stale! Also the bread on the sandwich was not fresh. Even if business is a bit slow it's not good to charge top prices for old produce.

It was the Alsager lights switch on. We walked up looking for a hog roast bap. This place was the only place that did something remotely like what I wanted. A pulled pork bap with apple sauce. £6 each. Well to say an absolute rip off is an understatement. The bap was one of the small ones you can get 6 for 50p at asda There was a little bit of cold pulled pork and apple sauce. Every experience I have of this place has been dreadfull. Other times its just been for a drink. I will never go there again. Awful.

Coffee and cake were fine and staff were pleasant. Didn't like dogs on furniture. The outside needs the dead plants removing, a good brush, tidy up and wash down

Called in here late afternoon for al fresco drinks. Place looked a bit shabby outside but had heard it was a popular bar. Two women busying themselves inside, only a few customers at tables. Took our drinks outside and had to clear a table, presume this wasn't in the job description. Whole area had an appearance of being unclean and then I notice the melted cheese hanging from the table above my thigh. Read the recent reviews and am honestly not in the least bit surprised.

We visited Bod in Alsager on the evening of Wednesday 21st June. My daughter had passed her driving test on the Monday and also passed her 2nd year Uni exams on the Wednesday, so we celebrated by going for a meal and then afterwards called into the Bod for a drink. My daughter and husband went to the bar and I went to get a table outside. We had probably had one sip of our drinks when we were approached by a blonde staff member who demanded quite aggressively for ID for my daughter who is 19. My daughter reached to get her ID and then remembered that her provisional licence had been returned in order for her full licence to be issued. We explained this to the blonde member of staff and she instructed my daughter not to touch her drink as she was under age. I informed her that I had a photo on my phone of the provisional license and also a photo of her passport. My daughter also had her student ID card displaying her date of birth but she declined to look at any of them stating that she would only accept a hard copy driving licence. She then reiterated that she was not to touch the drink and she returned to the bar. My husband and I took my daughter’s full drink to the bar and asked for a refund. The young girl who served my daughter and husband had actually served my daughter on the previous Saturday with the same drink, a cider and they had actually had a discussion about the pronunciation of ‘mout’ cider. This said member of staff then actually lied and said she thought the cider was for me, which didn’t make any sense as I had a Prosecco, so that’s still 3 alcoholic drinks. The blonde still refused to refund the cost of the cider again stating that ‘she is under age’. I again asked her to look at the photos or the student ID card and again she refused. I understand that bars have licensing laws and had she been asked for ID at the bar prior to being served and they had not accepted the forms of ID that would have been fine if they refused to serve us and we could have gone elsewhere but to let us pay for a round of drinks and then come and tell us that she was not to consume the drink is unacceptable and this is where some common sense and discretion should have prevailed. The blonde then told us we were not welcome and to leave. This really put a downer on our evening, 2 middle aged people having a drink with there daughter to be treated like this is unbelievable. It wasn’t as though she was out with a rowdy gang. We are regular visitors to the Bod with friends and family but they have most definitely lost our and our friends business. The Bod should be taking responsibility to educate and train their staff.

From service to quality of food it’s run by the un-experienced staff. Tables not cleaned, coffee not good , and food very poor, Greece salad (no tomatoes or dressings) tomatoes came separately & plain olive oil given. Cold tasteless chicken and a few slices of chorizo. The staff are not trained and lack guidance.

Really wanted to like this place, the decor is pretty cool. However, on the two occasions I have visited the staff have been dire. Waited over an hour for a barely adequate breakfast on the first visit, didn’t bother staying on the second visit because of the incredibly rude staff. They need training on both customer service and the law. Won’t be bothering again.

Went in for lunch with 2 friends. The table we sat at had 2 dirty coffee cups that we had to move onto another table ourselves. Ordered 6 dishes between the four of us then coffee and cake later. We were in there for 2 hours and our table was never cleared by staff who did not appear to us to be busy. We had to do this ourselves to give ourselves table space. When the coffee and cake arrived the dirty plates still weren’t removed! Other than that we had a good experience but, for 5 stars, improvement is needed regarding staff training and keeping tables nice and clean. You have a great product that could be even better!

The beer is excellent and the building and decor is very well done. I’ve tolerated the miserable staff because of this; most of them have the charisma of an overcooked sprout. This does sometimes put a dampener on it, but hey, everything else is good; that was until this time. We often take our children and dog with us on a Friday or Saturday with no issue; we’re always conscious of especially our child impacting other people’s night and know when it’s the right time to leave. This time however the staff having watched us struggle through the double doors with our buggy, sit down and allow us to buy a round at the bar, then came over to use to inform us that there was a new rule where children had to leave at 7pm and we had 10 minutes to finish our drinks. The 7pm rule regards children I don’t particularly have an issue with but they could have at least had the decency to inform us before we spent our hard earned money with them. Anyhow, we’ll probably be spending our time with the other more welcoming and considerate pubs in Alsager for the foreseeable, of which there are a few.

Booked a groupon for afternoon tea for my daughter’s birthday. The deal was for 4 people. My 2 daughters obviously weren’t going have tea or coffee and when the waitress declined a hot chocolate (which we had no issues with), she offered them a glass of water instead. Seeing as we’d paid for 4 people I think a glass of squash for them wasn’t really too much to offer. There were no sausage rolls/cheese wellingtons as stated on menu, so we were given lots and lots of finger sandwiches. Unfortunately they were all tasteless. We’d had nothing since breakfast and still they tasted so bland. The scones were so soft they were falling to pieces as we spread jam on them. The cakes weren’t at all inspiring. The macaroon was the only thing that was average. The room itself was so hot and made the meal even more uncomfortable. A thoroughly disappointing experience. I’m glad we booked a groupon for it but still found it a waste of money. A shame really as I was planning to return for the Sunday roast deal. The location is breathtaking but completely ruined by the lack of quality of the food.

Been visiting jodrell on and off as a cyclist for the last 5/6 years, from when the modern caterer was responsible for the cafe, sadly that came to and end a while ago and the university took back charge. The food seems to have been going downhill ever since. Todays (Sunday) breakfast offering consisted of sausage or bacon barms. Precooked and left to slowly cool in a pot, not kept warm or reheated, served on an unbuttered barmcake that was left to dry out in a paper bag. The whole thing soon disintegrated because it was dryer than Gandhi’s flip flop. And they have the cheek to charge £5 for it. On the (only) plus side the coffee is still decent. May be better in the week but today was embarrassing compared to how good it used to be.

Used to be quite good, but gone down the pan. Soup, now I can make better. Appearance and texture of cheap packet stuff. Chips, now how do you manage to serve hot chips and cold chips in the same serving? Poached salmon fillet; thin piece of tail end, over cooked and dry. Got to get your own cutlery, sort of like self service. Staff doing their best, but run off their feet. Really disappointing and dare I say it, overpriced 🫤
