Dragonfly in Bolton

Expansive pub, visited Sat 17th Feb, just for a pint, thought it was overpriced compared to similar surroundings in town... won't be visiting again any time soon..

I visited today with 2 of my female friends and instantly when we entered a member of your bar staff was entirely rude. It was a member of our party’s 18th birthday, and when ordering drinks the tall lanky brunette girl with glasses had no smile, and looked as if she did not want to serve us at all. I asked her a recommendation on a drink and she almost scoffed at me like I should just know? even though I’ve never visited this pub before? We then placed our drinks on a nearby table and went to dance where the dj was more than lovely wishing our friend happy birthday and playing song requests. When looking over at the bar however this girl was glaring at us and proceeded to tell my other friend off for random things like she was enjoying shouting at people and checking our ids multiple times (which is fine but felt a little bit intimidating when we’ve already paid and it comes to the 3rd time of checking id in the 35 minutes we were there))? We decided we would not be getting another drink and left because of the hostile atmosphere presented in this bar. All I can say is, if you don’t like working with the public and dealing with people, quit your job and find something else, I would recommend reevaluating your staff because I know so many people who do not want to come to your pub anymore due to said individual.

Awful. Denied my boyfriend access over some trousers that aren't against dress code. Bouncer was horrible.

Went in for a drink with my wife on Saturday 11Feb 2023 around 4pm and was charged £6 for a pint of carling shandy and a pint of soda water. I was so surprised I asked the bar person 4 times if that was correct - she replied it was and so did her colleague. Emailed the pub next day to check - surprise surprise- no reply. Is this rip of pricing or have I just been ripped off. Avoid this pub.

Visited for a quick drink en route to another place and soon realised the manager Stewart was just as sleazy and inappropriate as he has always been. Don't know how this guy is still running bars. Vile.

I visited with 3 friends and was sat at a table of 4 for the entire night, one of our friends knew another table and was visiting them so he was kicked out with no warning given. We accepted it and continued out night when a manager came over and said I need to have a word with him outside and that I was moving tables when I wasn’t, a blatant lie. My girlfriend was upset and argued that I shouldn’t be kicked out but I just accepted it and didn’t want to cause trouble. Because my girlfriend argued back the members of staff sent a message through the radio that she had threw a drink over someone which was another lie. It’s not good enough from the members of staff really, although some of them were nice it was the old man (who looked like a manager) and the small security guard, as well as the young girl who was sitting people down. I get that this pandemic is a tough situation but there is no excuse for the rudeness of these members of staff.

... sensible pricing, courteous staff. The drinks selection is good (can't comment on the food as we didn't try it). Don't expect too much in the way of decor. All in all, a decent place.

I am disgusted by the way the bouncer tonight acted towards me and my boyfriend. We happy moved towards the door when asked to with no trouble. However my boyfriend asked to use the toilet and was treated with abuse and a ridiculous attitude. We are not the sort of people to cause trouble and came out for a quiet drink while on annual leave from our professional jobs. I am extremely disappointed by the behaviour of this particular bouncer tonight. I am hoping to hear a response from dragon fly regarding this. I will be taking this further.

I've eaten here once and it was lovely, i had a pizza with a side of mac n cheese and it was delicious.

SO sad to see this get so bad. Stopped doing food. Service was awful. Drinks over priced. Avoid at all costs.

Really helpful patient staff, some really good food and drink deals as I managed to get a curry, pint and pudding for just 7.99 as it was a Monday. Loads of booze options and even though some food choices had run out, and the pudding was clearly microwaved because it was getting harder by the second, I would still visit again.

The fizzy drinks are all flat and flavourless taken them back and we just get told they can't do anything about it My diabetic friend was served a diet Pepsi and when he got it it was just water and syrup completely flat he took it back and was told they wouldn't do anything about it.. So he had paid for a drink that he had to leave at the bar. The food we ordered even though it came fast was bland. Overcooked and wasn't correctly advertised And the customer service is awful.. waited at the bar for nearly 20 minutes to be served only to be ignored by all members of staff... AVOID AVOID AVOID

Delicious and delightful! We chose the Dragonfly for out annual Xmas meal because our original choice was cancelled. How pleased were we! The staff were attentive, polite and very efficient and the food was absolutely delicious. We were all delighted with our meal and it was such good value for money. Thank you Dragonfly 😊

First time in here and wont be rushing back. Only 2 serving so it took over 5 minutes to get served. Staff were friendly enough, but could probably do with an extra pair of hands. Pub itself was OK, but not too full (good job considering the service) and lacking in atmosphere.

Never eaten here before was unsure what would be like. Always enjoyed the place big good music and good prices on most drinks lots of staff on hand. Only down side the toilet is bit beaten up and smelly. I needed food so ordered cheese burger and chips came about 15 minutes later it was on a lovely plate stick through the burger and chips in a buget. Was asked if needed anything else and was given sauces and knife and fork ect. It was cooked just right with fresh salad and was very filling. Well worth the vist.

no other pub can compete with this apart from Oscars a fantastic night for any age if you don't mind the of rude joke or 2, if you have never seen disco bingo before its a must book your table early or else you wont get one ..keep up the good work nice to see new ideas instead of the same old karaoke that most pubs do

Came for drinks, place wasn't busy and the way to the toilets smelled of strong urine. Place could be a gold mine if they painted the place, inside and out, got rid of the riff raff who go in, and sorted the toilets out.

Came to the disco bingo on Sunday 5,3,2017 and what a great night it was the atmosphere was brilliant and good music and D.J THANKS FOR I GREAT NIGHT WILL DEFANTLY BE AT THE NEXT ONE X

En la mayoría de los pubs siempre pop por la noche, siempre nos dan un buen servicio y cuidado bien cuando venga aquí.

Visitamos el sábado por la tarde y por la segunda vez que he visitado en el último mes no tenían amargo del grifo de salida de cualquier bomba.

Soy un habitual en el dragonfly (debido a que estar encima en alojamiento para estudiantes). La comida es buena, muy barato y de calidad, el fútbol es siempre (que es bueno para mí. ) lo único que tienen en contra de este lugar es a veces el personal puede ser muy grosero y necesita un poco de impulso en cuanto a decoración, de lo contrario es un encantador lugar

This Pub does a fantastic Big Breakfast and not expensive, very professional, and very well presented , would highly recommend!

beer not good " asked for replacement was told i was ignorant " and staff made me feel i did something wrong . so i told the so called supervisor . in the way she spoke to me what i thought ; i dont think you will reply to my complaint but thats up to you , i am 60 years old what difference that makes i dont know

The foods aren't that good, disappointed how it's taste and the look of it. Very basic foods standard. The decor in this pub need updating massively to make it more friendly and modern. The decor feels very cold and soulless and worn out.

Been in here 4 times over a year period, first time was very pleasant, second time, good, third, very good, last week excellent ! this place just gets better and better, probably not to everyone`s liking, but if u want a telly, they have 15, if u want good ale, good choice, if you want good food, the menu is the best budget menu in Bolton. and the staff can`t do enough for you. recommended if your in the area.

Great for a night out however I prefer it during the week when its quiet and easier to get to the bar!The food is good, drink prices are a little steep. The music is great, at weekends the place is so busy its difficult to get served as the whole bar area seems quite compact.

We looked all over Bolton with our little dog for somewhere that would let us in! Pubs and cafes turned us away left, right and centre. Eventually,the Dragonfly provided a safe haven and we ordered two slap up breakfasts. Boy were they good - and cheap too. The customer service was excellent, nothing too much trouble. Even the regulars were friendly and we had a bit of a chat with some really lovely locals including Gemma who was very helpful. All in all it made our day to find such a welcoming place and we've marked down the Dragonfly in Bolton for a return visit.

Ambiente carino, classico pub per una birra in compagnia ... ma segnalo che il cibo non è un granché.

After being told to F*&^%k off by Yates because we took a child in I went in on my own to find out if they would let us in... and was told off for leaving wife and daughter out in rain infact bar man wnet and asked them in.........what a welcome told us we would need to sit in a particular area but this was fine actual a nice seating area. Had a couple of drinks and then ordered food. the food was nice simple pub grub but was well cooked and the service was wonderful the barman on on Thursday 21 august went out of his way to make us feel comfortable.

I ordered the most dearest wrap available. It came and I was disappointed only one half of a wrap with chips. If I had ordered just the wrap I would of been shocked and hungry. Terrible value for money!

Food wise your lucky if it has what you want in but if it does its lovely.Card machine always seems to be broken which is a major inconvenience once you've already decided on what you want (if your lucky enough for it to be in stock).Most staff are absolutely lovely however despite them having changing facilities for babies in the most disgustingly smelly disabled toilets, staff just give you the key (bearing in mind I have my baby in one arm and the nappy, nappy bag, wipes etc in the other) and I'm expected to juggle all this and somehow unlock the door with the key?. Last time I went I was on my own and didn't want to leave my pram, bag etc unattended so changed my baby on my own changing mat on the sofa and got told off by z very rude member of staff. Before this I cleaned the sofa down both before and afterwards with wipes and I can assure you the sofa was much cleaner after. Women's toilets are utterly disgusting too, you know where they have the airfreshner trying to disguise the smell of stale sewage and graffiti everywhere. Last time I used them the toilet roll holder fell down rather hard on my head. Overall this is a lively place despite all this

I went in here yesterday and ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala. It was lovely. It camewith rice and nan bread. I swapped the rice for chips and you get a big potion. The nan was lovely and soft mmmmm. Will be ordering this again soon.
