The best restaurants serving British food in North West

Perfect country pub 5 minutes from Cheshire Oaks. All home cooked food. I had a chicken curry cooked to perfection, wife had flatbread and kids both had the cheese and bacon burger. Couldn’t fault a thing. Recently done up and kept with the charm of the building. Will be coming back, great staff and range of choice on the menu and beers.

Excelente pescado y patatas fritas y una relación calidad-precio increíble. Servicio amable muy rápido. La servilleta de lino adecuada era un verdadero placer. Buena botella de vino y buena guiness.

this was a family occasion , the food was fabulous all you could eat , had the turkey and ham + beef + great service.the chef was very friendly and nice to everybody his name was conor thanks from michael and eva fleming cork , ireland

We attended the week after Easter and all of te staff were helpful, knowledgable and friendly. We were especially helped by Coral who went out of her way to help our grandchildren in the restaurant. Thank you all so very much in making the holiday one to remember.

Good and local beer. Food was perfectly acceptable and especially nice to have vegetarian options making a change from the usual pie and chips or fish and chips options in the Lakes. A little way up the hill but not that far at all. Great views on the way back down.

Started coming here few months ago after The Twirl of Hay closed.The staff are all absolutely amazing,so helpful and friendly. Food is always excellent, served quickly. Literally can’t fault it.

Como un placer, reservamos (The Cottage) para un té picante, como siempre bueno. Llegamos a tiempo y tuvimos que esperar unos minutos, aunque no parecía muy concurrido. Mostrado a nuestra mesa y fue entonces cuando las cosas se pusieron mal. a la gente se la rechazaron y le dijeron 45 minutos de retraso para la comida. la gente que había reservado tampoco se quedó y se fue por la misma razón. Después de 20 minutos pedimos menú, otros 15 minutos pedidos, solo dos empleados en. Llegaron las bebidas, la comida está bien, pero no hay señales de pan y mantequilla que debería haber llegado con la comida. Preguntó finalmente por la factura y un descuento por el mal servicio y la falta de algunos artículos del pedido. Muy decepcionado. Había otros gemidos de otras mesas y aún así el lugar estaba medio vacío. En general parecía que el lugar estaba bajo una nueva dirección que no tenía ni idea, o estaba siendo deteriorado? pobre espectáculo y una verdadera vergüenza. No volveremos.

Decided to have a trip to Clitheroe with my wife for a spot of lunch. Decided on maxwells as we had been here before a couple of times with our children. The waitress who seated us was extremely polite and helpful, after looking at the menu we decided to both go for a baguette with chunky chips and it was excellent. Special mention for the waitress who took our drinks order as she was lovely and pleasant and couldn’t do enough for us. We don’t go out every often but when we do decide again we will definitely be coming back

Worst place ever 1hour 15 mins for a main and many others left angry with waiting times and I have stayed and eat in many different places well under staffed and as am writing someone just left without there meal .because am staying for work booked for 3 nyts and last nyt there was no food served aswell because of electrical problem defenetly avoid

Could do with a upgrade apart from that nice pub sin just as nice

We had a family day out. Eaten here many times before Charming place Steak pudding highly recommended Friendly staff No wonder it's popular

Cenamos aquí y el personal era muy amable y el servicio era bueno a pesar de que probablemente era un poco corto de personal. Esperaba más de la comida. Sin carácter real, el helado de postre era ‘helado’ y no fresco.

Extremely poor. Absolutely nothing special. Surprised Marco Pierre White has put his name to this place. Friday night and maybe 3 tables in says all you need to know.

GF breakfast very tasty, quite a variety of GF foods available , kids menu very good , I had the mini GF breakfast my mam had the standard breakfast, all great

A wonderful pub with an excellent beer garden. Friendly and welcoming. Food is wonderful too! They have so much outdoor space and the garden at the back is a lovely sun trap with big screens outside so you can watch the football if you wish.
