The best restaurants serving British food in Windermere Bowness South South Lakeland North West

Great dog friendly place for a quick coffee and cake! We were struggling to find an appealing place for a quick cuppa when we came across Graze and we were not disappointed. And we saw the food being freshly prepared and brought out for other customers and wished we had more time for lunch. We will definitely remember for our next trip to the area.

Fui a comer un sándwich de tocino y un café esta mañana. La comida y el café eran geniales, pero lo más destacado fue abrazar a los dueños del precioso Bulldog Francés, Pug. Pase si tiene la oportunidad.

We didn't have a booking but they managed to fit us in and were so pleased. The menu was excellent with wide variety of choices. The starters were particularly hard to choose from , so I had 2 starters . ! Food was excellent - really good especially for the price . Good wine selection too

Cosy, atmospheric restaurant which we look forward to trying again on our next visit to Bowness. Staff are lovely and provide efficient, friendly service. Food and wine reasonably priced. We felt the meals were well presented and tasty - there was an issue with one of our mains but the owner was very receptive to our comments and arranged a small adjustment to our bill. A nice place, we would definitely recommend.

Another return visit to the Masons Arms and honestly can’t believe why anyone would have cause for complaint. I suppose you can’t please all of the people all of the time. Having visited for both lunch and dinner this past week it remains a highlight of any visit to the Lake District. The location, the staff, the food and drinks selection are top notch. The evidence is surely the number of customers who seek it out on a weekday at the end of October creating a buzzy but comfortable atmosphere. If the brewery have any refurbishment plans please don’t ruin the eclectic charm of the interior. If anything could be improved it might be the replacement of the spotlights on the beam for something a little more subtle, but this is personal preference and in no way detracts from the overall ambience. We look forward to our next and ongoing visits.

Beautiful food. Staff friendly and knowledgeable. Very professional without being to formal. Beautiful dining room. We enjoyed everything about our visit for Sunday lunch.

Superlative food. Eclectic and interesting decor in lounge/ bar areas. Restaurant itself over modern and over lit. Some staff didn’t seem very happy, but overall we enjoyed our evening.

Absolutely fantastic stay at this hotel. Close to all amenities and bowness just around corner. It does need a update but for location and price i could not fault it.

Visited the restaurant as a hotel guest, the staff were attentive and helpful, there was no judgement when we wanted to order things in an unusual order, prepared a cheese plate to take back to the room :) Beautiful views and lovely decor and atmosphere. We will be back, great little find.

El sitio muy rico la gente muy amable lo recomiendo a todos en familia o en pareja . El personal es muy atento con las mesas y respetuosos.

The food was really nice and delivered to our table by a nice guy , just the bar staff let it down a bit by keeping people waiting and just serving random people even though I was stood there, the girl on that night just seemed to want to serve drinks not take food orders, the guy eventually came and was really nice....2nd Nov 2024

Fantastic food worth the wait if 20-22 mins as it came out fresh and hot. Nice guys, good coffee friendly atmosphere Steaks are renowned, not cheap but you get what you pay for. Been recommended but never made it until now

The fish was ok, peas were lukewarm warm and watery and my chips were cold and rock hard so I had to leave them, complete waste of money

We went here twice during our stay and it was great both times. Nice relaxed atmosphere, good views, lovely service and great food!

My partner and I popped in for a coffee and cake yesterday. There was only one table free with was uncleared so as it was not busy in there we waited a few minutes for this to happen. We ordered a chai latte and an americano and a couple of pastries . We were served by a blonde lady who offered no friendly advice or conversation at all but simply stared at us waiting for us to order. I asked the young lad making the drinks if there was a toilet we could use. Upstairs was the answer. When I got up there I realised there was more seating and there was one other couple in this room. So I went back downstairs and said to my partner we could sit upstairs so we took the pastries up. We waited 5 minutes or so and clearly we were not going to have our drinks brought up. I went back downstairs and there were our drinks sitting on the side. Mine was Luke warm so I asked the young lad to heat it up for me even if he had to put it in the microwave. He said I’m not doing that I’ll put milk in it. He was fuming. I said thank you as I collected my drink and not a word was said back. The bill was £14.15 which is not too bad for a couple of drinks and pastries but still worthy of some friendly customer service. We will not be returning
