What a beautiful venue, a garden full of interest, mature shrubs and towering bronzes... A warm welcome inside, staff quietly efficient, friendly and polite a real treat. We opted for starters and shared the Dexter beef.... Followed by desserts, and a lovely cup of tea.... The quality of the food, it's obvious freshness was a real delight.... Ask for extra gravy it's delicious.... Overall a 10 out of ten. The best lunch and no washing up a real treat x

We've had the pleasure of eating at Henrock a few times now and each was excellent. I still wake up dreaming of the fish sauce and that brioche! A place to really indulge, set in a wonderful location that just adds to the lovely atmosphere inside and out. The staff are of course excellent too, both knowledgeable and friendly with great attention to detail. What can I say about the food that hasn't already been said? It's all fabulous, each dish an interesting combination of visual appeal and flavour. Always a great experience, we can't wait to go back!

Very nice and well attended by staff. The food is extremely well though out, just a bit repetitive though in flavour, not really up to the mark sadly.

The food at Henrock was exquisite. My favourite was the Fermented Squash, Leek Top X.O., Ragstone & Truffle Custard snack, which was melt in the mouth and with an intense flavour. The other courses were also excellent with great choices for vegetarians. My main course of roasted celeriac was beautiful. We arrived at some good wine pairings, but I would question the wisdom of pairing the English Pinot Noir with venison. It was far too light and after trying it we opted for something else. It felt like the English Pinot Noir was being pushed because of a tie in with the producer. The only area where I felt the high standards were not as they should have been were in the communication between hotel and the restaurant. We arrived early to have drinks in the beautiful Linthwaite hotel lounge. We said that we had a table at Henrock. I expected someone to bring us dinner menus and come for us when our table was ready. They did not. When we went to the restaurant it was as if no-one knew that we had been there. We then went through another round of pre-dinner drinks, where we were given the menus, but then had to ask to order. With better communication, the pre-dinner drinks and ordering of food could all have been done previously. At the end of the meal we were asked if we wanted digestifs and petit-fours in the lounge. We did, but once there, we were abandoned. I had to seek someone out to remind them of our drinks order and the petit-fours. The petit-fours themselves were unusual to say the least, and not the high point of our food experience. Apart from these glitches at the beginning and end of the night, it was a great meal and a great evening.

Can’t fault Henrock. Staff were very pleasant, very friendly. One newer waitress wasn’t aware that the tasting menu was not available after 8pm, but it was no issue. The food was very tasty, and the bread was amazing. I liked the fact that a lot of the ingredients are from Simons farm. We purchased a cookbook as a memory of our meal (it was our 10yr anniversary), and all of the chefs signed it, which was a really lovely touch. Would definitely revisit if back in the Lake District.

A lovely experience overall although a few tweaks would have made it even better. An implement for the tart would have been good and the pudding wasn’t great but everything else was good - and the setting is fabulous

My husband and I enjoyed a perfect dinner and evening at Henrock in late June 2024 and had a much improved experience versus our meal there last June. This is our fourth (or maybe fifth?) visit, and we love the lakeview setting, artwork and decor of Linthwaite House Hotel, in which Henrock resides. Last year we had a few service letdowns, and one of the main courses (guinea hen) was very dry. This year we had a flawless experience, smoothly directed by the very capable Kayleigh, who has worked at all of the Rogan restaurants over the past 6+ years. We actually preferred this tasting menu experience over what we had at the 3-Michelin star L’Enclume in Cartmel just two days before. No, the menu at Henrock isn’t as long, but everything was perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. The wine pairings were excellent and complimented each course superbly. We really couldn’t fault a thing — except that the tasting menu and evening had to come to an end! If you are a fan of Simon Rogan but you blanch at the cost of dining at L’Enclume, please make your way up to Henrock at Linthwaite House for an outstanding gourmet meal, using the same ingredients and techniques as L’Enclume, but without maxing out your bank card. I’m mystified as to how it does not have any Michelin stars yet (when Rogan & Co has one and L’Enclume has three), but it feels like just a matter of time — and then it will become a more expensive proposition. The unevenness of our experience last year was more than smoothed out, and we look forward to returning upon our next visit to the Lakes. Well done to Kayleigh and the whole team.

This is our fourth visit to Henrock over a couple of years, but our first time in the summer, so the delight of sitting on the terrace before dinner and enjoying the view whilst sipping a cocktail, was a real treat. On this occasion we were seated in the very end dining room for dinner, on a lovely large table with a sofa, which gave us a view of everything that was going on around us, as well as out into the gardens and across the croquet lawn. One of the nicest elements of the restaurant and the hotel, is how well everything is balanced with perfection and precision in the food and service, without ever tipping into stuffy formality. The food and the service have always been 5 star, but on this visit were the best we have experienced. The canapés were an exciting start, the tartlet was an explosion of flavour and texture and the duck confit intense and meaty I then chose the Cuttlefish with, roasted Eel & Pink Peppercorn Sauce, a delicious and clever combination, and my partner chose the Brassica shoots with Koji Hollandaise. For mains I had venison, which was perfectly pink and beautifully tender, my partner had a Monkfish dish that was proclaimed perfect, then came a pre dessert, which was layers of flavours and textures that had us oohing in delight. My dessert was the Carrot & Pumkin seed biscuit, which again was at the same time, crisp, creamy, smooth, sweet, chewy and packed with flavour. The star of the show however was my partners dessert, which was the Beetroot sponge with sweet woodruff, stunning to look at and a clever combination of unusual ingredients. We have already booked to return and I am sure Henrock will soon join the rest of the Rogan establishments with a coveted Michelin star, which is well deserved, in my opinion

We visited on Sunday 23rd June for our anniversary. We’d found the restaurant in the Michelin guide after trying and failing to get into some of the other Simon Rogan venues. The setting was outstanding. I’ve never seen anywhere quite as beautiful. I’m glad we came here. The service was excellent. We arrived early as we’d drive quite a way and we were shown into the dining room without a blink. I was shown to our table as my husband used the bathroom and was even given a little seat for my handbag. As it turned out, the seat I was in, I was sat on a kind of sofa with my back to the entrance, turned out to be a little uncomfortable on the back after a while. I think the seats are too deep. We’d looked at the menu before we came and knew we were there for the Sunday roast beef. The snacks were very interesting. The tart was very delicious, I wasn’t sure of the texture (quite liquid) but my husband loved it. The takoyaki was tasty, if a little lacking in crisp. The warm bread that followed was dreamy. A cross between a tiny bread loaf and a croissant, served with seaweed whipped butter. I could have eaten that every day. We couldn’t face starters as well as a roast so moved straight to the beef. I did wish that I’d ordered some vegetables to go with it, I shouldn’t have assumed I’d get some. The only ones that came were the fermented beans in a small amount. The beef was delicious. Tender and very flavourful. The roasties were crispy and soft inside. The Corra Linn Puddings were unusual. Like small dumplings with melted cheese. Very filling. The sauce was nice enough, I didn’t get much acidity from the pickled tapioca and I’d wished it was a little thicker. The flavour was very complimentary to the beef though. The dessert is where Henrock shone. I had the woodruff burnt cream. Served with walnut ice cream and a delicious yuzu cracker. My husband was very jealous. It was the most delicious crème brûlée I’ve ever eaten. I couldn’t get enough. I asked for a recommendation of wine to go with my beef. The server asked me what I thought (I suggested perhaps the Cotes du Rhone) and she agreed with me. I got the impression she’d have agreed with me whatever I’d have said and do wish I’d had a better recommendation. Something with a little more body. After our meal we went to the courtyard and enjoyed a beer with a view. It was a lovely way to end a fantastic meal. Thank you for our surprise anniversary treat with dessert.

From start to finish our experience at the Henrock restaurant was amazing, there was nothing I could critique about the service. We had the 8 course taster menu and the food was impeccable. Every course was explained to us in detail and you truly get a Michelin star experience. Waiters were constantly on hand to top up our water and wine and every-time we got up from the table our napkins were folded neatly for when we returned. The restaurant also accommodated for my milk allergy and I was able to have all 8 course diary free and the food was delicious. At the end of the meal they invited us to sit in the lounge area to watch the sunset and have our last course which was a perfect way to end our meal. This was a Truly amazing experience . Thank you 🥰

We all really enjoyed our visit to Henrock. The short drive through the immaculately maintained gardens and arrival at the equally immaculately maintained property immediately set the tone for the rest of the evening. Cocktails in the lounge to start with and our first impression of the service standards to come. As we expected, professional, knowledgeable and attentive service from start to finish, especially the enthusiastic sommelier. We all opted for the eight course taster menu. Each course was well presented and thoroughly enjoyed by all with one exception, the main monkfish course which was a great disappointment. To put it bluntly it was rubbery and tasteless and most of it was left. We've all had monkfish at many restaurants and I'm sorry to say that this was by far the worst. That said, the staff and venue won the day with the food still coming a close second. (Fortunately there were seven other delicious courses). We would return but would stay well clear of the monkfish.

Wow Fab visit to Henrock for a fine dining Sunday Roast. Awesome staff and outstanding food. Starter snacks were super tasty and as advised eaten in a oner: Starters included: - Fermented Squash, Leek, Truffle Custard - Duck Leg Takoyaki - Parker House Bread - Summer Berries Jelly w/ Apple Juice (served at end of meal) Mains: We opted for the special sharing Beef which was ridiculously tender with sides. - 500g Dry Aged Sirloin Dexter Beef w/ Roasties / Red Baron Onion / Corra Linn Puddings (mini Yorkshires) / Pickled Tapioca Marrowfat Gravy Sides: - Grilled Florence Fennel and Lemon Thyme - Creamed Harp Spinach Desserts: - Woodruff Burnt Cream / Walnut Ice-cream / YuzuCracker - Custard Tart w/ Infused with Shiso, Rosehips & Iced Buttermilk All the food was totally delicious. Particular highlights were the Fennel and Lemon Thyme / Unreal tender Beef / Woodruff dessert which was an exceptional Crème Brulee style dish. Great tunes on in the background which you don’t often get in restaurants. All in all a great visit to a stunning hotel and fantastic restaurant. If you've been to Simon Rogan’s other award winning restaurants in Cartmel - Llenclume & Rogan & Co then I can't recommend Henrock enough!

One of the best meals we’ve had for a very long time. Everything about our experience was first class and it delivered all our expectations. The food is delicious, well thought out dishes with amazing flavour combinations. Everything was cooked perfectly and beautifully presented. No gimmicks or unnecessary extras, just visually enticing food. The Tall one is notoriously fussy when it comes to eating out but he raved about each of the courses. We both tried dishes we wouldn’t normally eat. Our starters of Cuttlefish and beef were so delicious, the tall One chose cod for his main and he gave it 10/10 for flavour, presentation and for how well the cod was cooked - in his humble eyes, perfection!! I had the pork which was equally as delicious and beautifully presented. Both our pudding/cheese platter were moorish. I think we both could have quite happily eaten every dish on that menu (in our dreams) as they all sounded delicious. We both found it hard deciding what dishes to have. Certainly an incentive to go back. The waiting staff should also get a big mention - attentive, friendly and very knowledgeable, the service was impeccable.it clearly shows that they are proud to work there and also love the food too. Their role is as equally important as the chefs as it’s all part of the dining experience. All of the team made us feel at home and very welcome - thank you!! Would we go back - very much a big fat yes - if you get the opportunity I would certainly recommend visiting this restaurant as you won’t be disappointed and you’ll get to eat some amazing local products in a relaxed and informal setting.

A new restaurant from a Michelin star chef, with a 'three course' meal which you chose from the menu, plus bread, canapes, pre dessert, etc. Different to our usual tasting menu but a good idea. My wife is vegan and although the main menu had one vegan choice for each course, she had a completely vegan menu with lots of choices on it, so that was a great start. The food was very well presented, but not as strong flavours as we normally like and expect from this type of meal. My main was basically a parmesan crusted piece of cod and a chicken "wing", which was like a posh nugget. As such, not very big. That was the feeling we left with really, that the food, although it looked great and tasted ok, could have had stronger flavours and there could have been more of it. A sort of standing joke with "nouvelle cuisine" but the plates we had were almost like a tasting menu size. And there were only three of them. We did have a good bottle of wine, and a range of small glasses of different ones, and the price wasnt too extortionate, but we did feel a little underwhelmed. More food and flavour needed.

We have visited Henrock over the past few years and it has moved from excellent to exceptional. The staff know how to balance being formal to make it feel special, but also friendly so you feel at ease. Most recently we had the Valentine’s tasting menu and we were thoroughly impressed. The build up of the small perfectly balanced courses leading up to an impressive ribeye with a side of butter (they said potatoes but we all know it was mostly butter😉) felt special and cared for. Big thank you to all the staff who made the evening so special with the little extra touches. It really sets you apart from the others. If you are in the Lakes and want something special, book here.

Very nice location, views, service and food. Treated us and our young kids very well from start to finish, even giving them their own pieces of all the amuse-bouches and palette cleansers etx. Kids menu done very well and very reasonably priced. Set lunch menu generally very nice and fairly priced with all the free extras (including coffees, hot chocolates and petit fours on the terrace afterwards). Overall, pretty much all the food was great, apart from two small quibbles : The lamb shoulder sharer was a little smaller than expected and had a bit too much black garlic with it, but was delicious still. The hake starter was disappointing and surprised us with how little hake it had, with a bit too much outer starch, although it's accoutrements were nice. The other starter (beef in coal oil, that ended up being a tartare which further added to its charm) was wonderful and we wished we'd gone for two of those instead of a hake ! We (and our kids) were very impressed with the kids menu items they had (super succulent roast chicken and a splendid toastie). We also loved the way they were so accommodating and said we could essentially order as little or as much of anything we liked for the children, perhaps sharing a set menu or kids items or nothing and give them tastes of ours etc. So nice to find a top restaurant being so great with young kids, quite rare these days sadly, so very much to their credit. Loved finishing the meal with (complimentary) hot drinks on the terrace, with the lovely gardens and amazing views. Enjoyed seeing Simon Rogan's favourite apple marigold growing in the bar and would've loved to stay for cocktails if hadn't had a long drive home ahead. Lovely place.

After a good few years of Michelin restaurants offering no choice but complex so-called 'taster' menus, Simoin Rogan and his staff at Henrock in Linthwaite House have gone back to the good old choice menus that delighted those of us long enough in the tooth to have delighted in places such as The Box Tree in Ilkley and Holbeck Ghyll and Farlam Hall in there prime. The beauty of a choice menu is that a guest can visit the restaurant or hotel and stay for several nights eating different delicious meals each night. Such was the choice that we met at Henrock and the food generally delivered its (very expensive at £150 for its actual rating) promise. An ingenious amuse bouche of stone egg (reflecting the name of the restaurant) filled with wild mushroom puree and confit egg set us off and our starters were equally tasty. I had a dish of smoked eel on a tasty savoury custard and my wife, delicious small,fish-shaped beignets of Hake with an outstanding umami flavoured broth of fish and mushroom. She declared this to be the dish of the evening! Then I had stuffed guinea fowl breast which wasc a 'Back to the Future' take on good old 70's Chicken Kiev as it was stuffed with a creamy cheese and coated in crispy crumbs along with a suitable leek and very tasty reduction sauce. My wife had a beautifully cooked tranche of cod with similarly delicious garnishes. The deserts were, maybe, a slight let down. Rather too sweet and not the best we have ever tasted. The expensive wine flight was a good match for the food but the restaurant was quite noisy and, being a little hard of hearing, it was not always easy to catch what interesting facts the French Sommelier was trying to give us. The ambience of the restaurant with numerous art works is good. The summer views out of the windows, idyllic, the service prompt and precise.... but maybe just a little too stiff and starchy. In these days of dress down fine dining, guests often do like to have the chance to interact a little.with those in attendance these days. Minor criticisms, however for a very nice, if rather pricey evening.

Faultless food and faultless service. I have now eaten at all of the local Rogan restaurants and this is my new favourite. Sometimes the service at L’enclume is a little too intrusive. The service here was perfect and appropriate. I can’t wait to return!

Well I won't be going back ,the food was awful ...the tomato ,basil and pesto soup had a horrible sharp but sugary sweet taste...the sandwich that came with it had the cheapest bright yellow " butter "on. ,a maximum of one slice of ham and the cheapest mustard . My 4 year old grandson could have made a better sandwich ! My husband had pie which had hardly any meat in it and the gravy was unusual tasting ( to say the least ) and sweet . I've had far superior microwave meals ! The toilets which were always an asset to the pub had gone downhill too.

As soon as we walked through the door the staff were welcoming and very attentive. The food was lovely and good value for money. We sat outside which is a great little sun trap for those rare sunny days in the Lake District. We would high recommend and we will definitely be back .

We have been here many times over the years and love it. Dropped in for a drink last week. Wooooah! £9.80 for a Prosecco and a pint of cider shandy is the same price as a pint of cider - about £7. So by that maybe a pint of lemonade is also £7? I’m sure many people stop for a drink while walking in the beautiful lakes but next time we might find another stopping point. Although living in the North East maybe we just have cheaper pubs up here??!!

Cold and smelled of dogs on arrival. Waited ages to be served and the waitress was more interested on who was at the bar rather than taking our table order for 10 people. Food was very salty and the steak pie in particular was terrible. Every meal as standard/basic or frozen style food. The whole place is run down and miserable. We went off trip advisor reviews as well on a visit to the area and wished we hadn’t. Go to The Pheasant Inn down the road at Allithwaite instead that was lovely food and fab service.
