The best restaurants serving British food in Ancoats and Clayton Manchester North West

Called tonight for fish and chips...well what can i say AMAZING...best fish and chips i have ever tasted and i am 88 years of age I wish i lived nearer but will be back.The fish[cod] to die for the chips superb....portions huge.....we will be back.ps the Batter on the fish was breathtaking!!!!!!!!!!also the price???i couldnt believe how cheap plus the owner was so nice..........

Why do chefs feel they need to be artists? I appreciate the effort and desire to do something fancy but just put the food on the plate already and get it to the table.

Lovely, atmospheric cafe bar. The only downside side is having the loo on the top floor. Nice staff. We didn't eat but thee food looked great.

Second visit to the restaurant for a special birthday. As previously, the atmosphere and service were good. However, the food did not come up to expectations. The steak was chewy and even the steak knife could not cut through it. I expect better from a restaurant that charges so much. Sadly, we won't be visiting again. Visited on the 8th November 2024.

I came here for a coffee and it was really good, nice Barista coffee and tasted much better than the usual coffee chains. I had a take away, but the inside looks really nice, lots of people working on laptops. They have soya milk and other non dairy milks which was good. Overall a great coffee house in Ancoats.

... vinieron con 3 amigos a tomar algo. Busy. La gente se sentaba en el bar, lo que dificultaba el servicio. OK a horas tranquilas, pero no en un sábado por la noche IMHO. Ale choice limitada / oscura - las velas añaden poco. Meh...

Proper Holt Brewery pub with a good range of real ales, on draft and in bottles. Packed on a Friday afternoon, mainly with groups of guys, and a good atmosphere. Seating options are a little bizarre in parts of the pub, but it’s bigger than it first appears.

This is more the real deal, compared to Wetherspoons 100 m to the west. A big pub, traditional interior, lots of beers to choose from. Service takes some time if it's crowded.

Saturday night and was only us and one other table. Service was quick and professional and the food was delicious. Overall very happy

Outstanding little pub, busy with a mix of people and a superb selection and variety of well kept real ales at reasonable prices. Off the beaten track but well worth seeking out.
