Glasshouse Restaurant in Manchester

Saturday night and was only us and one other table. Service was quick and professional and the food was delicious. Overall very happy

We arrived at 7.15 the restaurant was empty, we saw a staff member they didn’t know we was coming. So they had to set a table up. It was firstly a different menu to on here. Then we waited over 2 hours for our food.

I can't forget that hot steak 😋 Try it and thank me later

Very friendly staff and lovely food. We enjoyed the food and they helped to light candle on my son's birthday cake.

Portion size was poor against the costs of food. Won't be returning.

Afternoon tea was absolutely stunning, tasted amazing. The staff was super helpful and great. The place itself was overall was stunning, beautiful decor and clean, perfect. Will definitely be going back.

Quite simply tables and chairs with mediocre decorations. Restaurant was very quiet however we did not get sat down for 10+ minutes. Genuinely took 1 hour for our food to come out and it was very bland. It really was just an awful experience, staff were relatively nice however the service was just not up to standard. Very expensive for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

I booked an evening meal here through a Groupon Voucher, it was to finish off a day out in Manchester. I had heard good reports about the Glasshouse and having previously been here for a lovely afternoon tea it seemed a good choice. We were not disappointed. On arrival we were shown to our table by a chap named Andy and he was friendly and helpful as he talked about the deal and the menu. Before ordering we asked some questions about the menu and he was all to happy to spend time telling us the information we needed. A waitress then looked after us during the meal and she was lovely too. Our meal was served in good time and all dishes were well presented and delicious, as was the red wine that came with them. The starters were both perfect, asparagus with poached egg and king with prawns with a Thai curry sauce. My friend had the catch of the day, for a main meal, which was cod, and she said it was perfect. I had a vegan cauliflower dish and that too was just lovely. The whole experience was a good one from arrival, to the decor, staff and food. Give it a try.

Food was nice but nothing special. Definitely felt like a hotel restaurant with little atmosphere. Can’t quite put my finger on it - Just missed something.

Situated within the Crowne Plaza Hotel. (See my other reviews) Very quiet post Christmas festivities. Clean and tidy, plush and lovely decor. Our waiter was very friendly and polite. I had the Jamaican jerk chicken with boiled potatoes. Absolutely lovely. Although I wasn't too keen on the coleslaw. Hubby had the rump steak which came with fries. He thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommended. Would dine here again. Many thanks.

Déception, nous avions réservé le soir du réveillon de l'an et après avoir pris notre commande la serveuse et venu nous dire que le chef ne se sentait pas bien et qu'il ne saurait pas cuisiner!!! Résultat un soir de réveillon sans repas et donc nous avons dû aller manger dans un fast food!!! Vraiment médiocre!!!

The food was very good had prawns in Thai green curry. Tasted like it was from a Thai restaurant beautiful. Only down side os the menu is very small not alot of choice and also quite small portions for the price but I would pay again for that curry. Staff are very nice and friendly too. Had a good night on there

On arrival had to wait to find a member of staff to seat us in an empty restaurant. Half a dry sandwich each obviously been made and left for a while before serving. 5 different cake options a ginger type cake served with custard that was so dry could not finish, scone that looked home made but tasted not the best left half, the whole thing was disappointing. Restaurant was clean and the waitress was pleasent that the only positive from our trip will not be returning.

All the food we tried was fresh and tasty. Particularly mussels are the best. Service very polite and friendly. Not crowded, plenty of seats available.

A very mixed experience, but, overall it was good. TA only permits average or very good rating . An average rating would be unfair as there were many positive aspects. Great premises. Stylish and spacious. A pre dinner porn star martini in the bar was very good and bar man very efficient and friendly. Restaurant had no atmosphere and had very few diners. Not a huge menu but a good variety of different dishes. The mushroom risotto starter was excellent - lightly poached egg on the top was a brilliant addition as risotto can sometimes be a little dry for me. However the pork belly main course was a little disapppinting. I think it could have been cooked a little more or at higher temperature to crisp the skin ? It also came as a square- like a portion of lassage cut from a larger dish- or more likely from a catering pack?- see photo. Service in restaurant was mixed. 2 waitresses - one excellent. I think the other one was possibly new to the role,but, heh , everyone has to learn and I wouldnt mark down for this. House red wine was very good. To be fair I always struggle with in house restaurants at hotels. This one was a good experience. The bar is great.

we had a nice time our waitress was friendly the quality of the food excellent . i marked it down due to the fact that they served 3 savoury options against 5 sweet options . disappointing when u enjoy savoury more than sweet . no hot savoury either as was described in the groupon offer . so nice as a one off . would go back if there was more savoury choices

My daughter invited me out for afternoon tea at the glasshouse on a Sunday and it was so lovely. The Glasshouse is in the Crowne Plaza hotel on Manchester’s Shudehill not far from the CIS Tower. There is parking available in The Printworks and The Arndale which are both within a few minutes walk away. We arrived and received a warm welcome from a young man who was working on front of house. We were shown to our table and seated as the waitress introduced herself and arranged to get us some coffees. The afternoon tea was a perfect mix of cakes and sandwiches, all of which were delicious. My favourite being the key lime cheesecake! There was unlimited tea and coffee and the waitress was friendly and efficient. There are vegetarian and gluten free options available. We will definitely visit here again as this was a really pleasant experience.

Booked a Groupon for last night, 1st time not eaten here before. We got given a set menu with plenty of choice, the deal was a starter/main or main/dessert with a glass of wine or soft drink. I had mushroom risotto for starter, something a little different to my usual but very tasty. My wife ordered duck leg main and I had pan chicken breast, both were very tasty and good portions. Food and service was excellent.

Poor service and afternoon tea very disappointing. Scone stale ..as was another cake ..only 1 person pot of tea served.

Had such an amazing time ! Went here for my best friends birthday , food was absolutely beautiful & so well presented! Staff were so friendly and caring towards us upon arrival ! Check backs were given through the meal to see if we wanted anything else! An all round amazing experience here ! Will 100% be dining again was beautiful

Had to eat here due to dinner allowance of my business trip locked into this place. Ordered chicken burger and mac and cheese side. Burger was bigger than I expected width wise, however that meant the bread just fell apart. Mac N cheese was the first one ever I've never finished. Service 4 stars, food 2

We stayed in the hotel and were unsure where to go for a meal, being an IHG member we were offered 20% off food and drink here so decided to give it a try, glad we did. We both had different steaks, fillet and rib eye, both were perfectly cooked and delicious. The desserts were delightful as well. Good selection of drinks. Would recommend you give it a try if your unsure of where to go for a meal.

We stayed at the Crowne Plaza for 4 nights and we had the dinner included in our rate. I have to say that we were very pleased with the service received, great food, enough choice for less than a week stay, extremely quite in the evenings. I recommend the Rib eye steak and the sirloin steak but also the cod loin. Also, the prawns are amazing. We only had once some deserts and they were ok too.

Visited the restaurant a couple of weeks ago and was really impressed with food that I purchased, tasted really fresh and presentation was really well put together. After our meal we decided to stay for a couple of drinks in the bar/lounge area. Staff were very polite and helped when we asked what selection of drinks were available at the bar. Will be returning in the future and would highly recommend again to friends/family.

Oh dear. Our waiter really didn’t want us there. As each diner finished, their plate was whisked away at lightning speed. Sadly the same speed was not demonstrated when providing drinks for the table

Waitress was rude and condescending. Menu didn’t match what we had seen in the room on our smart TV. When questioned about this waitress nonchalantly said the menu changed a few months ago as if to say it was not her problem. When ordering drinks not all available and it felt as if she was trying to bully my wife into ordering something. We left before eating!!

What shone for us at the glasshouse was the staff, we received fabulous service, great advice on tapas meal choice and the venue as a result had a lovely welcoming feel. We were offered a private booth in the restaurant to have our business lunch which we really appreciated. Food was great, location fabulous and proximity to the Printworks NCP was perfect. Would certainly return.

We were staying in the Crowne Plaza Hotel and decided to try the restaurant. Service was good and the staff were friendly. The fillet steak was awesome! It was a great quality and perfectly cooked. Presentation could have been better. It was served on a mushroom and I really don't remember what else. That was the impact that it had on me. Breakfast was a buffet and I really don't like buffet breakfasts because I don't know if previous people have washed their hands before using the utensils.

Had a reservation here and when I got there the man working shushed me and told me the kitchen is closed.

I'd booked ahead which turned out to be pointless for a few reasons, firstly the place was pretty empty (Saturday 6:30pm) and secondly because they didn't seem to recognise the booking in any event, no table ready, staff didn't really seem to know what they were doing, they said they hadn't enough cutlery so when we decided to order starters as well as mains, the waiter had to take cutlery from other tables, apparently he said that they'd been stolen??? Menu itself looked fine, however a number of the dishes were not available despite the restaurant being 85% empty. Food was fine but one of our starters was missing a main component so had to be sent back. Once rectified, everything was fine. Overall the food was ok but the lack of atmosphere and disorganised way in which it's run means that we are unlikely to return. There are plenty of great restaurants in Manchester, so I'd give this place a miss

I was hungry and opted for the carbonara pasta - it was plentiful and hot and very tasty. The service was friendly and fast and the choice on the menus should have a meal for everyone

Stayed here so had a meal in the evening, Lauren our main waitress is absolutely lovely, very bubbly and also knowledgeable about the menu. We ordered steaks, lamb and beefburger. The only negative points were the Bearnaise sauce tasted disgusting and neither of us could eat it, but they did swap them for a different sauce without a quibble, and the other negative was another waitress started clearing the table when one of our party were still eating, not very good etiquette.Went down for breakfast in the morning, it was absolutely spot on, no complaints whatsoever.

We used to love sitting in the Glasshouse having a few drinks, watching Shudehill go by us on a lazy afternoon, and love staying in the Crowne Plaza of which the bar and restaurant is part of.However a while back they changed the layout - the high bar tables by the wine were removed and replaced with low down dark coloured tables. The others were shuffled around. The place is more echo'y and noisy. And worst it's had a big size TV screen installed which blares out sports.I want to come and have a conversation, watch the world go by and relax and I can't do that with football in my ears in an area which feels like it got smaller.Please revamp it back to how it used to be - light and airy and enjoyable!

El personal fue amable, pero el servicio fue bastante lento.Éramos un grupo de 16 y habíamos prevenido al personal de que íbamos a pedir 3 botellas de Champagne y podrían comprobar si tenían 3 refrigerados. Sabiendo esto, deberían haberse dado cuenta de que necesitaríamos '16' gafas. Una vez que todos llegaron, pedimos el Champagne, pero desafortunadamente tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo para que nos sirvieran las bebidas. Las copas eran extrañas y no coincidían y el Champagne fue dejado en corcho y tuvimos que servir nosotros mismos, que fue decepcionante, especialmente cuando se considera el precio que pagamos por las bebidas.También pedí una copa de vino y un gin-tonic y me cobraron 36. 50, cuando cuestioné esto resultó que me habían cobrado una botella de vino. El Gerente ordenó este asunto de manera rápida y eficaz y arregló un reembolso de inmediato.La ubicación es buena y está idealmente situado cerca del Crowne Plaza Hotel, al lado del hotel, por lo que es ideal para negocios y para reunirse con amigos en busca de bebidas y comida.

Whilst here on business I managed to have enough time to have a glass of prosecco and chat with my daughter. The bar area has plenty of seating and floor to ceiling windows which mean you can watch the world go by!

La mía era sopa con pan caliente recién horneado, seguido de filete de salmón a la parrilla y luego una selección de quesos británicos. El restaurante era bastante espaciosa y muy bien decorada. Un sábado por la noche (22 de abril) había pocos diners cuando estuvimos allí. Teniendo en cuenta que habíamos pedido y los pocos diners había una espera excepcionalmente largas para nuestra entrantes. A algunos de nosotros, como yo, una sopa, pero todos tuvimos pan rancio. Nuestro organizador de experiencias y fue rápidamente reemplazado con pan caliente fresco como lo anuncian. Que es el único comentario crítico como el resto de la comida era excelente y el personal era encantador. Llegamos a la conclusión de que había una falta de capacitación de la dirección. Firstly i booked Christmas dinner at the glass house through "open table" we received the confirmation and all was well, or so we thought! the booking was for ten people to be seated at 2,30 pm. Getting closer to the day we had not been asked for menu choices so got in touch with the restaurant which was a mission on its own, we were then informed that for larger parties and special days they do not take bookings from "open table" so we did not have a reservation! They could fit us in brilliant!! payed the deposit rush around getting everyone's menu choices and emailing them through. I wish they had been booked up!! The starters came out Roast plum tomato soup mine was not far off chilled where as one of my guests practically had to wait for hers to cool. I left mine and explained to the waiter why, he apologised whilst lifting the bowl and spilling the soup down my suit. The mains was roast turkey wrapped in streaky bacon! It was so dry and hard my German Shepard would have struggled to chew it. I had on guest who had traveled from South Africa to spend Christmas with us and asked if they might have a Yorkshire pudding she could try so i asked one of the waitresses to which she very nicely said she would ask and off she went to the kitchen never to be seen again. The final straw on the camels back was when we had paid for the meal at £59.00 per head the final course being Tea / Coffee and Petit fours they cleared the table and we waited and waited nothing was offered to us so i ended up having to order coffee from the bar and paying again. I am not a fussy person and eat out regularly in Manchester. Take my advice STAY AWAY FROM THE GLASS HOUSE i should have realised when they could still accommodate a party of ten on less than a weeks notice coming up to Christmas alarm bells should have rung!! Definitely a Christmas to forget

A reasonable menu choice and reasonable quality food to match, but with only 7 people in the entire restaurant it took an age to get the first course and then an age to get the second course. The bottle of wine was just plonked on the table unopened (screw top) and without anyone checking it was correct. Eat out,

Other options around the hotel for breakfast much better than this restaurant. The quality of the food and freshness is bad. I tried for one day and I don’t think will do it again. Add espresso pay more add americano pay again.

Cené en el Glasshouse última noche de sábado. Los dos camareros que me atendió era tanto profesional y atento, y hizo un trabajo estupendo, un poco la comida al lugar. El pescado cangrejo tuve que empezar contenida de cangrejo muy poco, no pude ver o probar alguna, sólo un montón de patatas.

Visited this restaurant yesterday for an evening meal, service was quick and staff polite and helpful. Not many choices of steak as they had sold out. But alternative choice was very good and plenty of it, good value for money.

Lovely food, friendly and professional staff, the 3 courses with a drink for £23.95 is a deal, just couldn't believe this place wasn't busier.

Nos alojamos en el hotel y decidimos quedarnos y comer, ya que el tiempo era horrible. Nos permite elegir el menú del bar como no estaban buscando una comida de 3 platos, ya que solo tenía 1 horas antes de salir para un concierto en los hombres. Teníamos carbonara, chaqueta de patata y sólo tenía una mezcla de luz de las tapas, 3 platos eran más que adecuadas.

Mi marido y yo cenamos en el Glasshouse el último sábado a las 8 de la tarde, la habitación estaba a un cuarto completo. El servicio era muy bueno, pero la comida era sólo adecuado. Pedimos pastel de cangrejo picante tailandesa para comenzar, pero fue realmente patatas tarta con un fuerte sabor a especias la basura apenas podía ser probado. Mi marido pidió horneados con canelones, el Bass Canelones estaba seco como si hubiera sido un re-calor del mediodía. Tuve el besugo que sabían bien, pero se sirve en una cama de rodajas de patata que hecha y pasada. Tuve tarta de limón como postre y tenía la misma textura (malos) y la calidad de una tienda compramos tarta. Pedí un café pequeño que era perfecta y mi marido tenía un café más grande, era extremadamente débil supongo el derecho café-agua caliente no fue aplicado. En cada campo de la camarera preguntó si disfrutamos el campo y nos contestó que estaba bien, ella no me importó. Cuando vas por una comida en una noche de sábado en este rango de precio, puedes esperar de mejor calidad y sabor.

Big portions reminiscent of hotel food in the 80s. Ok but not worthy of outstanding praise. Ingredients and flavourings are very average.

Este restaurante es bastante pequeña y estaba muy ocupado cuando nos alojamos aquí, ya que era el fin de año. Pero el personal era muy bueno. Muy profesional, y se desvivía por mi fin de socios cumpleaños. Las bebidas y la comida eran de gama media alrededor de los precios, sin embargo, que esperábamos esto antes de ir. Sin duda recomendaría a cualquiera que quiera un hotel agradable en Manchester con un gran servicio al cliente, la comida y el restaurante.

When with wife for dinner and ordered 2 rib eye steaks one small one large small one medium large medium rare large one was well done small was cooked OK but chewy and not seasoned. Sent back and left.

Great evening , great food and good wine despite being temporarily in a banqueting suite. Currently undergoing refurbishment, we will certainly be back to see the opening of the new restaurant design.

We were allowed to order from the bar snack menu in the restaurant and the staff were very attentive and friendly. The food was superb and good value. Nice atmosphere and comfortable setting.

Restaurant was pretty quiet for a Friday night but that suited us as we like to talk. The food was excellent value for money and very good choice from the set menu. Wine a little expensive at £6.95 a glass but overall had a very enjoyable night,

gentleman at front of house was superb.Table has been booked but specials not available at that time ,it was our anniversary so a little disappointing.However the gentleman got back to us and advised that the chef would prepare the specials menu.The food and service was superb and a delightful complimentary drink.Really made our anniversary special ,thankyou

We had a very lovely dinner here. We were staying in the Holiday Inn next door so we had the opportunity to have a discount on our food but there was no need. They had a great 3 course meal menu for such a great price, which included a glass of wine....so we went for that. The atmosphere would be enjoyable for all occasions. There is a bar area as soon as you come in which was very modern in layout and presentation. I would really recommend this place!

Absolutely fantastic meal while having a stay in Manchester, all cooked absolutely perfect. Staff more than helpful, very good attention to detail also. One of the best meals we've had out in 4 years.

We were made most welcome. Chose our menu in the lounge with a drink. Called through to the restaurant when meal was ready. All food cooked from fresh and was to a very high standard. Amazing cocktails. Staff were very professionally trained. We would definitely eat there again. Although we did not stay in the hotel it looked a wonderful place to stay. Highly recommend it.

We booked last minute and the restaurant was very quiet. Service was excellent and the choice of food was very good. The wine list offered sufficient choice and the whole meal was good value for money. It's a very nice venue which I am sure will be found by more - we will certainly be going back.

My husband and I dined here on the 2 evenings we were staying at the Crowne Plaza. We were in Manchester to see ELO at the Manchester Arena. We both had the wood pigeon for starter on the first evening then I had the pan seared chicken my husband had the lamb. This was followed by the white chocolate and raspberry bavarois my husband had the rhubarb and ginger sponge pudding. We chose a Malbec as the wine accompanyment. The following evening I had the chilli and lime fried halloumi served with a tomato salsa. My husband had the Thai beef salad our mains choice was panko fried cod for my husband and I chose lemon sole with a langoustine broth. My dessert was cheese and biscuits actually served with soft butter curls lovely. My husband chose the blueberry cheesecake. The wine was a Chardonnay. All food was beautifully presented and hot and tasty. The staff were warm and friendly and courteous. We had an excellent time on both evenings and I would highly recommend a visit.

You usually avoid hotel food but this was great - had lunch in the bistro style restaurant - what a pleasure. The holumi cheese grilled with warm broccoli and white beans was awesome and the platter of cold cuts and cheeses was delicious - I will certainly eat here again.

From the moment we entered the venue on a busy Saturday night we were made to feel very welcome. A very knowledgeable waiter who was fantastic throughout great service and the food was awesome especially the rib eye (cooked to perfection) certainly recommend and will be going again

Vi var tre stykk som skulle spise lørdag kveld, lite mennesker i lokalet. Bestilte oss først tre vinglass som servitøren mistet i fanget vårt. Greit nok, kanskje den beste. Bestilte oss to biff og ett lam. Når det hadde gått en time kom servitøren bort og beklaget, og sa at hun skulle se hvor maten var. 10min etter det kom maten. Maten var god, men alt i alt en ganske dårlig opplevelse og vi går nok ikke ditt igjen. Plaster på sårer var gratis vin og kaffe! Må sies at servitørene var veldig hyggelig.

Always stay at the Crown Plaza when in Manchester and the hotel Glasshouse bar and restaurant is a great place. Had some bar food and a couple of drinks this time. Service and atmosphere is great. We had the sharing meat platter. Amazingly good as you can see.

Excellent for the hotel guests , Service is good. Variety of wines are llimited, but good finger food and cocktails. Prices are slightly higher than other places close by.

My wife and I stayed 1 night 17/12/15 spent day Xmas shopping meal was booked for 7.30 was made very welcome in the restaurant by happy smiling staff it was quite but filled up later.we chose the wine/dine option great value,food was excellent and time between courses was just right.the staff were excellent my wife really enjoyed the whole evening.Finished off the night in the bar.Cannot fault the hotel or the restaurant,this was our first visit and won't be the last,thanks again,merry Xmas. It was easy to book the table at the time we wanted. The choice was excellent and we all selected off the set three course menu with a glass of wine. The starter swerve great and the main courses hot and efficiently served as were the sweets delicious. The staff were caring and attentive. The restaurant was lovely and warm from the horrid rain. It was a little quiet but we all enjoyed the food.

Had breakfast here last week and it was very busy with Manchester United suporters but the quilty did not suffer

I can't believe how bad everything was. I asked if the fish was boned and was tolded that it was. There were more bones that when the fish was alive. Tasteless and boney. Just a bad experience. Go somewhere else.

We arrived late and didn't feel like going out so we used the Glasshouse which is within the hotel. It also has a nominal separate entrance. For our needs it was ok. the menu was very limited. the service was good. You get a 20% discount aklso if you are a resident. Although i also noticed they added 10% on as a service charge automatically/

We pre-booked about 2m ahead from a restaurant Search site. At the time we did not realise it was part of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. On the Night in Question (Fri July 10th) we arrived for our 6.45 Reservation and found the Place empty which surprised me as it is a modern, well presented restaurant conveniently located near to many venues. We were very efficiently greeted and seated, promptly served with drinks and menus and offers were explained. We ordered and were served with starters , followed by Mains and attentively topped up from properly place wine in an ice bucket, Desserts and Coffees all arrived faultlessly. During all of this only 3 diners came in the restaurant until we left about 8.30pm. Service was faultless, staff very polite, friendly and efficient, food was excellent so I am confused as to why it was so quiet. Would we eat here again, most definitely. Well done.

Served quickly, excellent food presentation, friendly staff. During the meal there were only 3 other diners in until we left at about 8.30pm which was a surprise given the Restaurant is Modern, very clean, very well placed and the staff were faultless, Prices wer what you would expect and the portions about right, Would definitely eat here again.

Whether we're lunching or dining in the Glasshouse we always get a good experience. At the front of the restaurant overlooking Shudehill, are some easy chairs or some bar stools with high tables where it's great to snack (on some easy, light and healthy options) for lunch and enjoy a drink and watch the world go by - it's a great people watching spot. In the evening, the sit down area of the restaurant has a good menu which really delivers on taste and with excellent service and times to the table from the kitchen.Good value, good service, good food and easy to get to while you're staying in the hotel, what more do you need?

We ate at the restaurant because we were staying at the hotel. Lovely food, pleasant decor, and very attentive staff. They catered for my dietary requirements with no fuss. Will definitely return.

3 course set menu inc drink for £23.95 was good value for central Manchester. Food was hot and reasonable quality. Ordered at the bar from someone who really needed some more training on how to use the till, customer service and his uniform needed a good wash!Bill arrived and we had been charged for drink although it should have been included in set menu, but was quickly corrected. Also don't like the "discretionary 10%" service charge which is automatically added to you bill, we asked for it to be removed.

Ate at the Glasshouse restaurant prior to a concert at the Arena (stayed in the Crown Plaza). What a gem- great food, great service and great value for the 3 course set meal with wine. Will visit again and highly recommended.

Had a bar meal in here before heading out to a concert, quick and polite service, the price of beer is a bit steep but it is a city centre hotel, the price of the food is quite reasonable.

Excellent food, well presented, I couldn`t fault.The staff were very efficient and helpful.I would highly recommend ths restaurant to anyone.

Me and the girls checked in on Thursday to go and see take that, we stayed in the bar area for dinner before we went, all I can say is fantastic, the food the staff and the price, we could not fault it
