Fairfield Arms in Manchester

The food was lovely, my eggs were a bit crispy round the edges but that didn't matter. Service was great & it's just a lovely pub in general

We've been visiting The Fairfield Arms for the last 11 years, the last few visits we've seen a noticeable decline in quality. We visited yesterday with two family members from out of town. One barmaid notified us that she would rather be elsewhere.... (No wonder the pub was empty with that kind of attitude). We ordered 3 burgers and a Sunday dinner. The food arrived an hour later (in an empty pub), the burgers had clearly been sat under a heat lamp for some times as they were as dry as Ghandis flip flops, we ate them because we were past the point of hunger, and used the watery gravy to get them down.. Fairfield used to be a good pub, but the poor staffing, limited menu, and poor food has let them down. The decline in quality seems to have come about since the rebranding. There isn't much competition in the area, and The Fairfield seem to rely on that lack of competition, to serve crap meals, and deliver poor service in a beautiful setting. We won't be returning again, which is a shame, as it used to be good, then mediocre, and now it's just bad. When people ask why so many people choose to drink at home now? Fairfield is the answer. I could serve better food from a one ring burner.

Nipped in here by chance as it looked lively and was serving Sunday roast; great little place with warm friendly atmosphere. The food was lovely and good value for the money… I opted for 3 meat roast (was delicious) and my partner had the mix grill… it was huge and full of flavour; would definitely go back

Waited ages for two burgers and they came luke warm….. cheese couldn’t melt, 1 small leaf of lettuce and a 5p sized blob of sauce… Very disappointing when this place has had a good reputation, can’t see be coming back any time soon

Was attending a concert at Co-op live arena and was driving round to find somewhere not too far away. The building is a lovely old house, food was good quality and staff were friendly.

Thanks to Sue and the rest of the staff for a lovely meal.

Based on multiple lunchtime visits over last few years I can honestly say that staff are very friendly professionals, food great, warm atmosphere, and prices are reasonable too - hugely recommend!

Came today for my birthday chairs uncomfortable waited for our meals couples got served who came in after us meals came no knife and forks or serviettes two young boys running in and out all the time no one stopped them sorry but won't be coming again

Low expectations but the food was rather good. I will return. £6.15 for a Peroni is shocking though.

We sat outside and ordered food which we were waiting 45 minutes for so I went inside to ask where it was and a member of staff said that they prioritise food orders for inside… no idea why but they must class people outside as 2nd class or something! The food came 5 minutes after questioning where it was so 50 minutes in total. Our adult courses were lukewarm and we ordered fish fingers for my 4 year old son. The fish fingers must have had bones in (no prior warning of this) which my son began to choke on and became scared. My son tried to clear his throat by having water but he was complaining that it was still stuck so we were contemplating going to A&E however his airways were fine. I told staff about it and they didn’t seem very concerned but I requested ice cream to help his throat which they then tried to charge me for but we were not paying for it. My son’s complaints carried on for numerous minutes so we decided to leave without eating any of the food really. After a few hours my son seemed better but he was traumatised by the experience as we were as parents and customers of this establishment!

Lovely evening tonight Sue always goes out of her way and makes us feel very welcome also tobyi is a lovely bar tender and very pleasant and always smiling , always good to see him . The new chef cooked steak to perfection . Overall service 10/10

Thought we would call in for a quick lunch get together and opted for a 2 course lunch for £10.25. There was nothing quick about this lunch. 45 min wait to get the food and they weren't busy. What's on the menu??? Firstly, there was no gluten free options on the menu. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options . I was asked to read an allergen disclosure on an ipad, basically passing all responsibility onto me. The staff member was running back and forth to the kitchen checking food options for allergens. The staff should have more knowledge or training regarding the menu. Even the chips weren't GF. Between us we decided on grilled chicken , sliced new potatoes ( I think there was 3 potatoes) and a side salad. The only pudding option was vanilla ice cream. (Boring ) . They need to upgrade their menus to include GF options. What about Eaton mess as an option, more interesting than just ice cream. Being gluten free is not a choice unlike a vegetarian or vegan who seem to be catered for . Please review your menu.

Came for a birthday celebration, was greeted and seated, the lady who served us was absolutely brilliant, attentive and very friendly, her name was Sue. Really helpful and checked on us for each course.

Booked a table for 6:15pm (although we were 15 minutes late) on 22/04/2025 to celebrate my partners birthday, ordered our choices at 6:45pm when we were advised that there would be a 45min wait which we accepted. Only one of us ordered a starter which arrived 30mins later, we then had to wait for the mains which didn't arrive until 8:20 or 1hr 35min after ordering. The dishes we ordered were simple burgers and a chicken curry which should have been a quick turnaround. This had been our second visit in the space of two weeks, on the first (Sunday Lunch) we were advised that there would be a 1hr wait although only 2 items on the menu were available. We ordered the roast beef option and settled down with a drink, 1hr later a waiter appeared to inform us that there was no beef available!!. I really wanted to like this restaurant and I must say the atmosphere is delightful however, the service is terrible and somewhat deceitful. Obviously I expect they will say that they're under staffed and under pressure but 6:30 on a Tues evening is hardly peak. My advice would be, if you're hungry don't expect to be served in a reasonable time on the otherhand go elsewhere. I would not recommend this venue for anything more than a drink.

Came in late. Food stopped but sue x the chef Carlos were great x we got food served. Fantastic lovely food. Would recommend coming here all were fantastic xx

wow.. when you thought it couldn't get any worse! We went in November last year, and it wasnt great then. So we tried again today.. First up, we were seated, under a loadspeaker, we moved, given menus, ordered food. 30 minutes later a young lady came over and said you have been given the wrong menus! There was better choice on the new menu but we have already ordered! Then 45 minutes after ordering we finally get food. Wife had the Sunday roast with the dry turkey, served with greens which was red cabbage?? Extra gravy made the turkey edible. Mine: Mixed grill.. OMG! Steak ordered medium well, it came cremated, so much so the knife couldnt get thru it let alone my teeth! Chicken burnt & dry, and there was something on my plate which i had to ask what they were - fried onions apparently, they don't do onion rings anymore! lol...and to top it off the meat was covered in salt! If i want salt i will add my own! ffs. So much salt on my plate i could hardly eat anything. Just vile. £18 too. After finishing no one came to collect our plates for ages, after 15/20 mins we finally had to ask for our plates to be taken and serve our dessert. Not once were we asked how was our meal, even tho it was clear the plates were still full of uneaten food. Dreadful service. Dreadful food. And no... it wasnt busy so no excuses there. Avoid this place like the plague.

We are regular diners here & have always had good service and good food. We ordered using the App. There was a note saying they were busy, so food may take 20-30 mins. Our drinks came almost immediately, as did our cutlery. There were hardly any people in and a lot seemed to be just having drinks but our meals took 45 minutes - but no apology! Considering it’s Sunday, with roast beef being on the menu, they didn’t have horseradish sauce. Although my plate was hot the food wasn’t, but I was hungry so ate it. The 3 meats I had were tasteless and chunky, rather than being nicely sliced, and the beef was hard to cut. I actually thought it was pork!!!! The cabbage wasn’t great, or the carrots. Hubby had the chicken schnitzel meal, which he said was OK, but there were hardly any fries, so he was disappointed on that front. I’d ordered an Eton Mess which was supposed to have meringue, and raspberries & strawberries. No meringue and no raspberries. We had to ask for our dessert as no one came to clear our plates, so they wouldn’t have known we’d finished our meal. There were staff at the bar and near the kitchen, but we didn’t see anyone and nobody asked us how our meals were, which they used to. We were so disappointed with everything! The place looked untidy & unloved.

Went in for food and it was a generous portion and very tasty, staff were lovely and polite, especially James, he was extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend!

Was OK but definitely needs improvement. They don't understand simple instructions in the kitchen. A plain burger means just that !Steak came out and it wasn't good at all

Had food in here and it was so tasty and the prices are affordable. I was served by a group of amazing staff and they were very friendly, especially James, he was very helpful and kind. Definitely recommend!

Last time I reviewed Fairfield Arms I gave it a five. What a difference now. I took grandkids for dinner after school. The service was lacklustre seemed barely interested and when kids didnt eat chicken wings and I said they were over cooked I got a short apology but nothing else. Said chicken wings were disgusting looked not just overcooked but as if they had been cooked twice, wouldnt be surprised if they were from a previous service. Mashed potato had dry crust around it obviously not fresh. The kids pizza was undercooked. I had scampi it was disgusting, slimy and the tartare sauce looked good but didnt taste like tartar sauce!. Overall so disappointing I dont know whats gone wrong but I wont be going back

On a recent Sunday lunch booking with my wife and Mother in Law, we had the usual warm welcome from Chris. The staff attended to us promptly and we had an excellent afternoon. The food was delicious and hot when brought to the table. A special mention to Ruby and Sam who looked after us very well. We will definitely be going back again. A big thank you to all the staff. Sunday 06/04/2025 booked a table for 6pm and arrived on time, we were advised that there would be a wait of 1hr which we were ok with. Shown to our table and were further informed that of all the Sunday menu choices only Beef and Gammon was available so we ordered Beef and settled down with a drink. Just over an hour later someone arrived at our table and told us that there was no Beef left and would we like to choose something off the bar menu which we declined and requested a refund. So thank you very much Fairfield Arms for leaving us waiting for our anticipated Sunday dinner that never appeared, we will not be back and will advise our friends to give you a miss.

Overall not a great experience when taking our mum and nana out for Mother’s Day took 20 minutes sat around waiting for someone to even take our order to be told after 20 minutes at the bar you have to order online or come to the bar this should have been mentioned to us when we arrived we have never been here before ! Food took an hour and a half it was cold and felt soggy like it had been left around for a while waiting and really not great ! the staff were miserable who were serving us looked like they had been being told off all day or couldn’t be bothered got sat down stairs absolutely no atmosphere table was not set but after going up stairs and seeing the catastrophe of people lining to ask where there food was and to complain was glad to be out of the way Staff were apologetic when raising a complaint 1 thing I can definitely recommend is the desserts these were delicious!! Overall I’ve heard nothing but good about this place so as are first visit it was disappointing I don’t want to rule this place out I think they just overbooked for Mother’s Day but Sunday lunch really wasn’t great this definitely needs to be improved :/

Not a good experience today...of all days.....Mothers Day. The food was sent back three times. Chicken that you couldn't get your knife into. Garlic bread that was so burnt they tried to cover it up with cheese and scampi that was served with chicken nuggets. Disgusting is the only words for it.

Went there on mothers day took over an hour n half for food to come then wen food come wasn't worth waiting 20 min for standards gone down hill very disappointing never ever going there again what a joke 😑

Came in with my partner on a Saturday - Was greeted by a young lady named Lucy. She gave us lots of information about the menu and the Dine-in app. We ordered the Fish and Chips which was a perfect size for the two of us to share. Lovely staff and a relaxing environment. Will be returning soon!

I’ve been there a few times as it is my local I came about six months ago and the food was great. We came at lunchtime. When we visited a few days ago, though the food was absolutely shocking I think it’s really hit and miss what service you get with the food here, but I don’t think I’ll be returning for the food We waited over an hour for it, and the crispy chicken burger was disgusting or burnt and rubbery chicken About four of the couples were asking for refunds, so I think a lot of food was wasted that night Happily come back for the drinks though

Lovely place Worth a visit Not been here since I reviewed it years ago.. this time it was not good! Toilets not clean..(not smelly but grubby) The food was bland, served warm. The creme brulee was the worse iv had! Waitress attributes not the best to unfortunately. Sorry

This time my visit at the Farmfield Arms was not too good as it is usually. By the way, because I have been there on different occasions, dealing with very nice, friendly, and competent staff, I'll not stop of going there. The food is tasty, the atmosphere is nice.

Went for the Valentine’s Day special, 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £31! Was not disappointed!! 🙌🏻 Fantastic value for money. We originally stopped for dinner on our way home to Chesterfield from Manchester and really enjoyed the food, so I reserved this and we drove the hour and a half for our night out. I can’t recommend this place enough! The service and atmosphere are just right. They will not disappoint.

On paper this pub looks really nice , but don’t be fooled if you like cheap burnt food , served without a smile this is the place for you , been here a couple of times and the big chap with earrings is a massive dark cloud , trudging around the bar area with the world s weight on his shoulder s , I know we all have Issues , but talk about a mood killer , and like I said food was not great I had the ultimate burger which was burnt with the chicken bits burnt also, we still had a lovely time because not been out together for a long time. , but defo won’t be returning here , sorry for harsh review but that’s how I feel .
