The Marble Arch in Manchester

Gracias a una mención en Saturday Kitchen Live decidimos salir del camino para probar el pastel. El pub está en una inclinación que era una novedad y estaba increíblemente ocupado cuando llegamos. Tristemente esto significaba que teníamos que sentarnos atrás, que era un ambiente muy diferente y nos sentíamos como si estuviéramos sentados en el área del personal con la cocina. Definitivamente podría hacer con ser hecho para hacerlo más "pub - como". No puede faltar el personal, excelente servicio y muy amable. El pastel vino con salsa y guisantes mushy opcionales. Los guisantes tenían un fuerte sabor a menta pero estaban deliciosos. El pastel era excelente, aunque algo caro. Una gran selección de cervezas y cervezas que se ofrecen, sin duda volvería para una sesión de degustación la próxima vez que esté en Manchester. Está un poco alejado del centro pero merece la pena visitarlo.

Sunday lunch was superb! Brilliant roasties, tasty veg, good thick gravy & beautiful lamb . Very happy. Would recommend booking to avoid disappointment as its very popular! Staff are friendly, helpful & professional.

Wow what a visit. Huge variety of beers 🍻 two ciders and a fruity beer on offer. You are able to order Sunday Lunch or alternatively a cheese board of choice selecting more 🧀 increases the cost. The pork belly was 😋 really nice 👌. We also ate dessert cheese cake and sticky toffee pudding 🍮. The American 🇺🇸 pilsner goes down a treat and they have plenty of 🍷 wines that are vegan friendly. The pub is very clean the decor is amazing having being built in 1888. They also have toilets and plenty of seating outside in the back. I highly recommend.

Some of the best cask beer in the world. Manchester bitter is a must try.

Lovely atmospheric bar serving good quality beers, with a good cask range which is always good to see. We didn't eat but saw others doing so and it looked and smelled very nice. However we could not see a menu anywhere? Making it clearer what food is available and how to order it would be a suggestion I would make (I know it's a minor point and I could have asked staff if I wished)

A nice presentation BUT won't accept cash and this is a serious drawback which excludes some.This theme of refusing cash ultimately delivers us 'wrapped and ready' into the hands of God knows what overbearing control in the future. Cash is King...bring it back!

The chefs are fantastic and the food is great. The front of the house team is rude and arrogant. They clearly lack a good management in place. Please get a good manager to manage your hospitality.

We visited on a Saturday sadly we couldn't get in for food so we recommend booking ahead (thanks to Rick Stein ) large choice of local drinks the staff are super friendly let's keep this old style pup going

One of the best pubs I've ever been to. The perfect, home brewed pint, fabulous food and a perfectly preserved interior of a classic old pub. Wonderful place.

We have had Sunday lunch here a few times and today’s lunch did not disappoint, we all had a mixture of the roast chicken and roast beef dinners and both were enjoyed by all. Staff member serving us was very friendly and accommodating. The only things I would point out would be that the staff member serving us, who was very pleasant indeed, should have had his long hair tied back whilst serving plates of food to people and also would be nice if the plates were warm as our cold plates made our lunch go cold quickly. Would recommend the Sunday lunch there though and will certainly go back ourselves again

Cuando entramos en el olor era divino. La comida parecía y olía encantador y el servicio era muy bueno el minuto en que entramos. El personal del bar era atento y amable. Fuimos a tomar un par de cervezas y lo pasamos muy bien. Lo único que sería increíble es si fuera un poco más grande, ya que estábamos apretujados en las mesas para un grupo más grande.

It’s like being time machined back 150 years. Get a “Pint” by Marble brewery. The food is also top notch. Sunday roasts and proper pub grub.

Great pub Monday quiz night great hosted by rob and the staff food and beers make this one of manchesters finest establishment. Best pie and burgers and beers are incredible such a great night atmosphere and staff. Kudos to the marble Arch inn can't wait to return 💚🙌🙌

Food was excellent and interesting selection of beers. Busy little pub. The guy looking after us didn't over promise and under deliver. Hunkered down in one of the cabins out at the back. Great experience.

Highly recommend the Sunday night pub quiz. Great cosy pub with traditional interior, plenty of ales / lagers on rotation. Open fire too. In an area that's being quickly gentrified, it's great to see a piece of Manchester history holding its ground. Do check the place out of nearby.

I was craving some pub food and this place did not disappoint. Everything here was so delicious and worth traveling for since its a bit out of the way. The servers were very nice and helped us choose from the wide variety of beers they have on tap

An absolute must-visit for any craft beer fan visiting Manchester. Superb service. I didn't have the food, but I suspect from the care the owners and staff have for the venue and the array of fine beers, I'm certain it is also top-notch.

The Sunday roast (we had the drunken beef) was nothing short of spectacular.

I've been coming to the marble arch for years and it never disappoints. One of the most traditional pubs in Manchester but elevated by the fantastic beer brewed and served on premises. I love marble brewery. They really are the best. Food was of a good standard. Not the best but very tasty and the serving staff were very nice and polite. I really do love it here Still love it

Great pub the landlord and owner is a great host and very welcoming and the exterior and interior of this listed building are amaizng. It's also like a Tardis when you walk in it looks and smells like a classic old pub with a great selection of beers and ales and then opens up around the back where there's more seating and an open kitchen and where the beer garden is there are heated indoor pods that sit around 8 people and just make this pub even more intriguing and great for privacy amongst family and friend gatherings

Fantastic traditional pub, the staff are super friendly and there is a great beer selection. Just went for drinks but will absolutely be returning to try their roast dinners as they looked and smelt amazing.

Cracking pub, with a great selection of beers and good food. A group of us went there for our Christmas lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Josh and the team did a great job on a busy last Friday before Christmas. Will definitely go again!

The place is just amazing. The atmosphere is pure British and everything and everyone makes you feel very comfortable. The staff was very kind and very helpful with everything. We were in the city for a football game and we really enjoyed our lunch in this historic pub. A Must visit!!

This is a nice place to pop in of a quick bite and some real ale around £6 A pint, food varies wasn't Expensive great place to be, nice outside garden with heaters. Give it a go.

A great pub with superb food, friendly service and a great range of ales. The steak in ale pie is one of the best I’ve tasted. Highly recommended.

Excellent pub about 10 minutes walk from Manchester Victoria Railway Station. Five cask beers on handpump when I last visited including a blackcurrant stout. Outdoor seating to the rear in a yard with kiosk shelters. The pub was built in 1888 on the site of a previous 1829 pub. It has a fine barrel vaulted ceramic tiled ceiling and decorative frieze. The mosaic sloping floor leading you inexorably to the bar and the glazed tile walls add to the splendour of the pub.

A very special pub. Great beer obviously but an architectural gem too.

Highly recommend going, whether for their quality beer or excellent food or the unique atmosphere. One of few places that serve food as well as their own beer. Will definitely be back.

What a friendly and fun place! And great beers too. Tried the Earl Grey IPA, Butterfly Guard and my husband had the Lagonda and Marble Stout. Will definitely return to the Marble Arch Inn on our next visit to Manchester. Highly recommended.

What a spectacular work of art that this drinking establishment is. First time being here and it’s like stepping back in time. Pulls a really nice pint and also a nice cup of cappuccino.

Great food, lots of local ales, great service

Good beers, can be a little pricey though.

This is a classic old school Manchester pub. The floor slopes. The bar area is a bit cramped. Tables mostly for four. Nice wall tiles. Friendly folks behind the bar. We arrived one night and a table for 13 had just put their food order in. We had to wait. It was well worth it. After downing a couple Manchester Bitters we ordered steak & onion pie with mashed, chips, cabbage & snow peas. A terrific crust on the pies. A flavourful gravy to pour on top. It is the type of pub where you chat with the table next to you. I believe it is well known for their quality food & drink.

Elegimos este pub para un almuerzo después de un bautizo porque estaba en el camino de la iglesia y las críticas se veían muy bien. El pub es impresionante y tenía un gran ambiente, pero no estoy de acuerdo con la gente diciendo que es ideal para la familia. No hay menú infantil, sino que los niños piden la versión más pequeña (alrededor de 14 libras esterlinas) de algo. El personal era genial y la reserva era fácil, pero solo una advertencia a cualquiera que esté pensando en acoger a los niños. No lo haría.

Llegamos una noche y una mesa para 13 acababa de poner su orden de comida. Tuvimos que esperar. Vale la pena. Después de bajar un par de Manchester Bitters pedimos bistec y pastel de cebolla con puré, patatas fritas, col y guisantes de nieve. Una corteza estupenda en los pasteles. Un toque sabroso para verter encima. Es el tipo de pub donde chateas con la mesa de al lado. Creo que es bien conocido por su comida y bebida de calidad.

Siempre me encantó este pub, llevó a mi marido a tomar unas copas pre-teatro como nunca antes lo había hecho, todavía un interior precioso con una buena selección de bebidas. Sin embargo, encontró el vino sobreprecio y se sintió seriamente decepcionado al encontrar que ahora no tienen efectivo. Vamos, Marble Arch, arréglalo, tienes que ser más inclusivo. Comienza a aceptar efectivo de nuevo o no volveremos.

Very friendly welcome, I arrived at 12pm and was able to grab a table that had a booking for 2pm. The setting is lovely and cosy, not too packed with tables, and there were some regulars having a drink and a laugh at the bar which is always nice. I ordered the small plate of lamb roast but was served the large by mistake and not charged extra for it. It was a generous portion and I think the small plate would've been plenty for me. The meat was perfectly cooked and I appreciated the variety of trimmings, including potato, carrot, parsnip, cabbage, snow peas, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding, lots of gravy, and a mint sauce was also offered. I'd been hoping to go for dessert too but the large plate was just too tempting so I did eat most of it then couldn't continue! I'll definitely be back in the future, though will probably book ahead to avoid the risk. Highly recommended.

The food was really good. Also, the service was top and we had a good time here. Just be aware that you might need an appointment in advance, otherwise You may have to wait for a table where food is served. You can drink as you please, as long as there are tables available.

Have wanted to visit here for a while and finally got chance and I wasn't disappointed, excellent service, great atmosphere and good selection of drinks,well worth a visit if you're in the area

Esta va a ser una crítica un poco larga, pero realmente quería agradecer no solo al personal que nos cuidó mucho en nuestra última visita, sino al pub en su conjunto por haber sido parte de nuestras vidas durante algún tiempo. Marble Arch era nuestro local cuando mi socio y yo nos mudamos a nuestro primer piso juntos, hace más de 10 años, y caminar esperando "el pub más cercano a nuestro piso", ver el hermoso piso de mosaico, ladrillos y techo fue una gran primera impresión, levantada aún más por la cerveza fantástica, en gran parte de su cervecería, y luego ver el menú de comida, en ese momento una oferta de temporada realmente emocionante y más lujosa, albiet de precio como un poco de un placer. Todo lo que vimos y probamos fue de fuerza en fuerza, y ayudó a crear una velada realmente memorable que nos subrayó el inicio de un nuevo capítulo en nuestras vidas, y se convirtió en una oportunidad para una comida de celebración o solo un par de pintas. Desde entonces nos hemos mudado más allá del extremo opuesto de la ciudad, así que no había vuelto en algunos años, pero cuando busqué un concurso de pubs y una buena comida para llevar a mi primo de visita desde Nueva Zelanda, me encantó encontrar que podía combinar los dos y volver a visitar uno de mis pubs favoritos de la ciudad. Desde entonces, mi pareja ha descubierto que es intolerante al gluten, y el personal fue muy útil cuando llamé para comprobar que podía ser acomodada, hablando a través de opciones y ofreciendo sustituciones. Cuando llegamos, el chef incluso se ofreció a hacer un gluten - masa gratis solo para ella, por lo que tuvo la oportunidad de disfrutar de pescado clásico + patatas fritas por primera vez en años! El menú actual son platos clásicos de pub, a un precio muy razonable, y cocinados a un nivel que yo diría que alcanza el ideal de lo que puede ser la comida de pub; sin pretensiones, rica, abundante, llena. El pastel de bistec + cerveza con su propia Marble Stout, claramente hecho en casa y mucho mejor para ello. La hamburguesa sabía tan bien como parecía, ¡y la cabeza de toda la mesa se volvió cuando vimos que salía una! El personal era relajado, amable y atento en todo momento. El bar en el que trabajo ve muchos turistas, y siempre he recomendado Marble Arch cuando me preguntaron dónde ir para un "pub británico clásico", y me emocioné al descubrir que, a pesar de haberme tomado un par de años de descanso, todavía era más que estar a la altura de los recuerdos, y podría ser el único lugar en la ciudad que en realidad es más barato que hace 10 años! Lo único malo es que ahora quiero volver más regularmente, ¡está mucho más lejos!

Must place to visit if you are in the area and want a pint of great locally brewed beer or want something to eat. I had the fish and chips and the fish was some of the best deep fried fish I have ever had. I highly recommend you check it out.

One of the most aesthetic pubs in Manchester with an array of their own ales. Food is quite good though they used to have more vegan options. Staff are friendly and service prompt

Great pub. Had many a lovely evening in there. My only gripe is that they don't do burgers on the Sabbath. I like burgers especially the cheesy ones, as did our Lord and Saviour. I've raised this with Paul multiple times but he doesn't seem to care.

This is one of the finest pubs in the Universe. Its a beautiful, ever delivering feast for the eyes, mouth and belly. Real ale, rocketfuel proper cider, lovely bar staff and shockingly excellent food. The menu was one of those ones where you want to eat everything. Repeat, shockingly excellent food. Chef deserves a Manchester Michelin. Recommend. If you don't go, you are a twat.

Superb pub in the Northern Quarter. Beers by Marble brewery are excellent and served from a bank of hand pumps by dedicated staff. The building is wonderful.
