This is a classic old school Manchester pub. The floor slopes. The bar area is a bit cramped. Tables mostly for four. Nice wall tiles. Friendly folks behind the bar. We arrived one night and a table for 13 had just put their food order in. We had to wait. It was well worth it. After downing a couple Manchester Bitters we ordered steak & onion pie with mashed, chips, cabbage & snow peas. A terrific crust on the pies. A flavourful gravy to pour on top. It is the type of pub where you chat with the table next to you. I believe it is well known for their quality food & drink.

We chose this pub for a lunch after a baptism because it was down the road from the church and reviews looked great. The pub is stunning and had a great atmosphere but I disagree with people saying it’s family friendly. There is no children’s menu but instead children order the smaller (around £14) version of something. The staff were great and booking was easy but just a warning to anyone thinking of taking kids in..I wouldn’t.

Always loved this pub, took my husband for pre-theatre drinks as he had never been before, still a lovely interior with a good selection of drinks. However, found the wine overpriced and was seriously disappointed to find that they are now cashless. Come on Marble Arch sort it out, you need to be more inclusive. Start accepting cash again or we won't be coming back.

Very friendly welcome, I arrived at 12pm and was able to grab a table that had a booking for 2pm. The setting is lovely and cosy, not too packed with tables, and there were some regulars having a drink and a laugh at the bar which is always nice. I ordered the small plate of lamb roast but was served the large by mistake and not charged extra for it. It was a generous portion and I think the small plate would've been plenty for me. The meat was perfectly cooked and I appreciated the variety of trimmings, including potato, carrot, parsnip, cabbage, snow peas, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding, lots of gravy, and a mint sauce was also offered. I'd been hoping to go for dessert too but the large plate was just too tempting so I did eat most of it then couldn't continue! I'll definitely be back in the future, though will probably book ahead to avoid the risk. Highly recommended.

This is gonna be a bit of a long review, but I really wanted to thank not only the staff who took great care of us on our last visit, but the pub as a whole for having been a part of our lives for some time. Marble Arch was our local when my partner&I moved into our first flat together, over 10 years ago, and walking in expecting just "the closest pub to our flat", seeing the gorgeous mosaic floor, brickwork and ceiling was a great first impression, raised further by the fantastic beer, largely from their brewery, and then seeing the food menu, at the time a really exciting, more upmarket seasonal offering, albiet priced as a little bit of a treat. Everything we saw and tried went from strength to strength, and helped create a really memorable evening underlining us starting a new chapter in our lives, and became a go-to for a celebratory meal or just a couple pints. We've since moved out past the opposite end of the city, so hadn't been back in some years, but when looking for a pub quiz and a nice meal to take my cousin visiting from NZ, I was delighted to find that I could combine the two and revisit one of my favourite pubs in the city. My partner has since discovered she's gluten-intolerant, and the staff were very helpful when I called up to check she could be accommodated, talking through options and offering substitutions. When we arrived, the chef even offered to make a gluten-free batter just for her, so she had the chance to enjoy classic fish+chips for the first time in years! The current menu is classic pub dishes, very reasonably priced, and cooked to a standard that I would say reaches the ideal of what pub food can be; unpretentious, rich, hearty, filling. The steak+ale pie with their own Marble Stout, clearly made in house and all the better for it. The burger tasted as good as it looked, and the whole table's heads turned when we saw one brought out! The staff were relaxed, friendly and attentive throughout. The bar I work in sees a lot of tourists, and I've always recommended Marble Arch when asked about where to go for a "classic british pub", and I was thrilled to find out that, despite having taken a couple years' break myself, it was still more than living up to the memories, and might be the only venue in the city which is actually cheaper than it was 10 years ago! Only downside is now I wanna go back more regularly, it's so much further away!

This pub as stood the test of time way all around it as been demolished or rebuilt this grand old building is still here as you walk in the first thing you notice under your feet is the sloping floor it's like walking down a slight hill . but this is a great pub with plenty of charm . with its open kitchen at the back . good selection of drinks at reasonable prices, and friendly bar staff. what is there not to like, also as an outdoor garden. Everywhere you look, there is a mishmash of picture frames and odd ceiling lamps .it as a great atmosphere. It's great to see some pubs are still standing and not being demolished as with The Marble Arch they cannot just come along and knock it down . Good old traditional pub, no frills . Has to be one of the finest pub interiors in the UK. Unchanged even with its peculiarities such as its gloriously tiled sloping floor. What had been a pleasant evening was abruptly ruined by door staff who made us suddenly finish our drinks with zero notice, fifteen mins after buying them as they decided to close two hours early on a Monday night, just because it was quiet. Next time, maybe talk to your bar staff who had happily served us the drinks just before deciding to close. Happy to be moved on with a wee bit of notice, but being harassed into skulling a £10 glass of Malbec isn’t the one. Do better team Via!
