Food here is amazing, the breakfast buffet was absolutely spot on! Rooms were okay i suppose and parking is none existent, costs £35 down the road for 24 hours....

This is a lovely hotel, nice room and pleasant staff, but is let down by the cooked breakfast, very disappointed by buffet style at this class of hotel. What made it worse was the intestinal infection I gained from eating in the hotel.

Abdul Rahman provided exceptional service throughout my stay. He was professional, attentive, and always went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. His friendly demeanor and helpful recommendations made my experience even more enjoyable. A true asset to the team—thank you, Abdul!

This evening, after attending a show at the Opera House, my wife, daughter, and I visited The Midland Hotel for drinks and light refreshments. Unfortunately, the experience fell far below the standards one would expect from a hotel with such a renowned reputation. We ordered fresh mint tea and food. Initially, the waitress seemed unsure if they could even serve fresh mint, but later confirmed they could. However, what was presented as "mint tea" turned out to be simply hot water with mint leaves – no tea. When we queried this, the waitress dismissively stated, "That’s how we serve mint tea." Her tone was condescending, and her attitude lacked any semblance of customer service. A hotel of this calibre should certainly know how to prepare and serve a proper mint tea. While I could overlook the use of basic ceramic tea cups instead of glassware, the absence of tea leaves was astonishing. Eventually, we were begrudgingly offered a single breakfast tea bag to share between us, which only added to the disappointment. The accompanying food was average at best, but what truly left a sour taste was the lack of professionalism and attention to detail. For a hotel that prides itself on culinary excellence and impeccable service, this was an embarrassing letdown. As someone who once associated The Midland with tradition and quality, tonight’s experience was deeply disappointing. It’s a stark reminder that reputation alone is no guarantee of excellence.

Highly recommended, cool hotel and very centrally located….

I've been to a range of events at the Midland over the years; weddings, balls, study events, as well as eating at the restaurants. The grand building and history sets it apart from other hotels in Manchester. Not least, this is the place where Rolls met Royce (hence the impressive Rolls-Royce at the entrance). The service and quality has always been good here - both food and drink. It can feel a bit more corporate than some of the smaller luxury offerings in Manchester, but its large size also means there are sometimes some good deals available on rooms.

The location is good. However, the room facilities are not working properly. For example, the heating system is not working, and they gave us an electric heating!!! The bathroom door cannot be closed easily and cannot be opened smoothly. The reception does not respond courteously and helpfully.

Second time staying here. The first time was spoilt by some idiots setting fire to the restaurant door resulting in us being evacuated at 2am. Despite that we had an enjoyable time and the spa is out of this world. On our return for our second visit we were given free room upgrade and complimentary drinks because of the inconvenience. I love this hotel, the rooms are spacious and well decorated. The bar and lobby area is stunning and has an art deco theme and the cocktails are top notch. There are also lots of bars and restaurants in walking distance. I recommend this to anyone staying in the area and will definitely be visiting here again.

Beautiful hotel and great location Welcome was okay, but noticed staff walking around never had eye contact or said hello unless I said hello first. Room was seemed clean until I dropped my ring and there was an accumulation of debris under the bedside cabinet. Picked up the black bin liner in case my ring had dropped in. There was old dried out teabags and other “stuff” that had obviously been there a long time. Breakfast was appalling. Plates were cold, beans barely warm, sausages were rock hard and there was 5 leftover pieces of bacon left in the food warmers - swimming in oil. Not very appetising at all. Mediocre continental choices. Accompaniments, i.e celery, chopped tomatoes and onions were wilted and dry. The fruit selection very good. Only one member of the breakfast staff actually said good morning. (Lady who wore a mask) and asked if I had everything I needed. Sadly a very poor experience.

I treated my mum to a special weekend away for her birthday. The staff, rooms and hotel were perfect. We had an afternoon tea booked which was so special, would recommend.

Recently stayed here on a leisure trip and it is fantastic clean,staff were excellent had a 2 day stay can’t fault it would highly recommend to everyone.

We visit the lounge and champagne bar for drinks every time we visit Manchester. We met family for Christmas drinks yesterday afternoon (21/12/24), despite it being very busy the staff were fantastic, and very attentive. The hotel is a gem in a busy city, one of Manchester finest.

My family used the sap facilities here and it was beyond amazing. Great location, easy to get to from local amenities. Lovely staff. Would go again

If you have anything stolen then good luck it'll take them 3 days to even check the cctv 😡

Popped in to the Midland this morning for a coffee. I was shown to a table but there was no further contact from staff. After over ten minutes with no attempt to take my order I left. There were at least three staff in evidence.

Good location. Good transport near by. Well presented but over priced. Recommended

Mi marido y yo estuvimos en Manchester unos días para celebrar su cumpleaños y decidimos pasar por The Midland para tomar una copa por la tarde. El barman Guilherme era muy amable y mientras charlamos nos pasó a mencionar que era el cumpleaños de mi marido ese día como estábamos pidiendo. Poco tiempo después regresó con un par de regalos de cumpleaños que nos pareció un gesto encantador y hizo nuestra visita más especial. Sin duda volveremos a The Midland en futuras visitas.

Great facilities and great services, staff very friendly and helpful.

No airco in the room, and the default was setup to 25 degrees centigrade without a quick way to get it to a reasonable temp.

We had a very nice stay at the Midland, the room was nice and clean, and the bar at the end of the evening was fantastic, with knowledgeable and helpful bar staff. The breakfast was also really good, and good quality. Overall this good value for money.

Too hot in there with all graduates and guests

Dropped in for breakfast but was a tad disappointed. The surroundings are most attractive with a strong sense of the past but the food was not what was expected with a distinct look of having been cooked some time before. Suspect that it was prepared earlier for overnight guests. Nonetheless, would consider a stay here on our next trip into Manchester.

Vintage atmosphere hotel. Friendly and helpful staff. A wonderful experience. Loved the vintage car at the front.

The bar was lovely. In particular, we were served by a lovely young man named Alli who was very friendly and professional. Had some great food too

Special thanks to Todd at the lounge and champagne bar for his amazing customer service and dry wit and humour we owe him credit for making our extended honeymoon a fabulous stay at the midland. The spa was also 10/10 I can’t remember the time I was so relaxed. We’ve stayed in every luxury hotel in Manchester more than once and the midland can’t be beaten.

Fantastic service, lovely drinks. Room was immaculate. Room amenities were excellent. Bathroom had cracked tiles and needed refurbishment. Everything else was amazing.

Midland Suite is fantastic, more like an apartment. The reception team was absolutely brilliant 👏 and could not do enough for you. Thank you so much. You made a real difference to our stay and are the stars of the show. Tried to get some food not long after we arrived, but we were told there was no space, Found the chap in the restaurant quite rude in his approach. Then, we decided to have a drink and order room service. Bar staff are not particularly great. Waited a long time, and we weren't even acknowledged. We only stopped for one drink, and it then took us over 20 mins to be able to settle the tab. Room service was great for what it was. Expected a better quality breakfast for the price, but the overall experience did not disappoint.

Nice hotel this ... right in the centre of the city ... nice and quiet at night .. breakfast was great too ... only 1 gripe .. we arrived back in round 11:30pm and my wife wanted a cup of tea from the bar whilst I had a pint . The hotel couldn't provide a cup of tea ... i even asked the bar manager who whent to have a look . .. but couldn't make one .. 🤷‍♂️

Has been one of the best hotels in the city but needs the bar to be staffed and look after customers. Overall good but it could be great with a few small tweaks. In this day and age, the little things will keep you on top of the ordinary

I recently stayed at The Midland and I was impressed with the hotel's grandeur and history. The hotel is located in a great location and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and comfortable, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a luxurious and historic stay in Manchester.

My friend and I had afternoon tea at this elegant hotel in the heart of Central Manchester. The whole experience was a delight from the quality of the afternoon tea to the service and the tea room where it was served.

Me and my sister came for a spa day on Monday 17th October 2022, we both had an amazing time from start to finish, all hotel and spa staff were very friendly , helpful and always smiling , always asking if everything was okay. Afternoon tea was lovely , all food was fresh and served very quickly , all staff in the tea lounges area were very kind , helpful and professional. Thankfully we had chance to try out the spa facilities as not many people were there at the same , all were very clean and relaxing. I especially liked the changing light within the pool as it really sets the atmosphere. We had spa therapists Eve and Jessica , they were both amazing , very professional, very hygienic and tidy, very kind and friendly , explained what our treatments included and told us how to prepare ready for the treatment to begin. Treatments room was spotless and relaxation area was very tidy, clean , spacious and relaxing . Would definitely be back , shout out to EVE and JESSICA!!

Beautiful historic hotel, really clean, great smelling bathroom products (Elmis), big soft towels. Only problem was I could here a buzzing noise all night, thought it may be fridge but as very tired I couldnt find how to switch off. Very good breakfast, great selection. A little slow at the bar even though a few staff were on and not many customers. Overall a great stay

Lovely afternoon tea. Great warm scones, selection of jams all the food delicious. Staff very friendly and very varied menu of drinks.

We popped in here on the off chance we could get a table and the drinks and surroundings didn’t disappoint. It was busy when we got there so were shown a table at the back of the bar. We did have to wait a while for a drinks and the bill - but overall it was just lovely to talk and chill in a lovely calming atmosphere

I'd booked The Midland as a gift, choosing an executive room as it was a special occasion. Really disappointed to then recieve a message from the party to say they had to complain as the room they were put in was not executive. Given the prices and the acclaim The Midland has I find this unacceptable and given the fact, as I say it was a gift made me feel let down and embarrassed. In response to your reply. 'If you give us a chance to earn back your trust'. Is this to be at my expense?

We had a fantastic stay at this hotel last night. The room was lovely, the place was clean and staff very friendly and professional. The bed was so comfy. The interior decor is absolutely gorgeous. The location was perfect as it was in the city centre and close to everything but also not near any loud clubs. The walls in between rooms are thick as I'm a light sleeper but were not disturbed once by other guests

If the Midland tried just a bit, it would be a four-star hotel. As it is, it’s just “Mid”, as the youth say. The pros: - beautiful, iconic building with architectural flourishes inside and out. - comfy-ish bed. - good wifi. - nice lobby, nice enough rooms. - great central location in Manchester. The cons: - 11am check-out is miserly, especially when paired with the 3pm check-in. - surly staff appears to be the rule rather than the exception. One person smiled and greeted us over our four day stay. - the card keys stop working every other day, requiring interaction with said surly staff, who make you wait while they pretend to look at something on their desk. 5 April 2024 response to the Midlands Hotel’s 11-month-delayed response to my original honest review: nope. This is my only review of the hotel. I’m just an ordinary traveller, not some hack reviewer looking for ‘likes’. Good to see you can ‘respond’ to what sounds like a common and reasonable set of legitimate complaints, rather than simply address the problems…

Nice enough, popped in for a few cocktails. Quite busy so a bit of a wait. Staff OK not over friendly.

Thought the corridors where not well maintained, room service dishes left outside doors for several hours, wallpaper nailed to wall in places.

Stayed here on a Sunday night with my partner and 2 friends. Was cheap for a Sunday night but honestly wouldn’t pay anymore than what we did. The rooms were big but not particularly nice considering how nice of a hotel this is supposed to be. The bath was scratched up and dirty, there was a hole and big crack in the tiling under the sink. Housekeeping knocked on the door 3 times before 10am when check out is at 11am. The location is good as it’s quite central. The staff were nice but a bit overbearing having 2 people asking you the same questions at check in. We also made the booking for 2 rooms on the same booking, but couldn’t put us near each other, so one couple was on the 5th floor whilst the other was on the 1st floor. Would stay here again but wouldn’t splash out on an overpriced room.

Fantastic afternoon at the Mount Street Saturday sharing experience. So much food, singer was excellent and the service was bang on. I would definitely recommend it.

Lovely hotel central to most areas, excellent bar and cocktails are a must have here, if adventures farther afield are required, the tram station is a two minute walk. I would stay again.

I’ve always had a love hate relationship with the Midland… after a recent stay and having a pretty high profile complaint it’s always been a disaster booking. This time they was very accommodating, however it’s sad to see some of the old services gone… residents bar? Decent breakfast and good room service is always lacking… But it will always be my favourite place to stay… many memories

Really disappointed with my stay at midland and the bad service I received. We never received breakfast that we requested for room service. They also didn’t inform us that you had to book a slot to access pool and then would not be accommodating at all.

We visited a couple of friends staying on the top floor of this hotel and had an afternoon tea with them at the Tea Room of the hotel. This hotel is conveniently located, just two minutes walk from the nearby St Peters Square metro station. The room was spacious and clean. Equipped with all the necessary facilities such as refrigerator, tea making facilities etc. Prices were reasonable in relation to its location, provisions and service. The service of the staff was very good.

Had an amazing experience today at the Midland bar. It was my best friends 21st birthday and Sebastian Wood made sure it was the best possible experience it could be! He was so accommodating and down to earth - he wouldn’t even accept a tip for himself, only for his team who work hard to get him where he is now. Just lovely!! We had such a great start to our evening - the wine was amazing, the service was amazing…what more could you want. We will definitely be back! Thank you for such a great experience Seb!

I bought a Groupon voucher for an afternoon tea x2 with champagne at the Midland Hotel. For only £47 I thought it was a great deal considering it is supposed to be £40 per head full priced. A good selection of cakes and sandwiches, however 2 of the desserts we received were replacements for ones on the menu. We were not informed they would not be available when we ordered. The replacements however were lovely and we were really happy with all the cakes/desserts we got. The quality of the food was good however we both thought the sandwiches seemed a little dry as if they had been sat out for a while. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was nice too. Graduation ceremonies were taking place on the day which meant the hotel area was very busy and the toilets had a queue as well.

Invited to bar young girl with attitude when we advised order was slightly wrong. I ordered lager and lime no lime. When asked to bring lime separately she flounced off and came back with lime in a glass that was slammed down. We let it go due to host who works there. Embarrassing for him. Poor bar service from another member of staff later too. Retraining recommended for such a high calibre hotel.

My husband I came from lunch last Friday around 1pm. The area was not extremely busy, plenty of seating and well spaced out, a beautiful environment. I went to the bar to order drinks, very efficient and given the food menu. I ordered olives, sandwiches, chicken salad and one portion of chips. I was told there was a 15 minute wait, which was about right. When the food came the waiter only brought the salad and my sandwiches. No cutlery so after a while I asked at the barman for some which we had to wait another few minutes. Then I asked where was the chicken on the salad. The waiter said ooh its been forgotten I will go and get it. 5 mins later he arrived with the same salad with a chicken breast on top and said the chef forgot to put it on. Another another delay the chips and olives arrived. My bread on the sandwiches was stale and I could not eat the bread so ate the filling, I did look around for a waiter but no one about. When he finally came to clear the plates I did tell him, his response was sorry. So after waiting for the food, then forgetting the cutlery, forgetting the chicken and the sides no formal apology or even a coffee. I would not recommend anyone eating at the bar area unless things improve.

Stayed at this hotel. We went to the bar for a drink at 11 pm. No chance. Advised we needed to order room service from room and drink in room ‘in case anybody from outside thought the bar was open’ What’s that all about !! We are residents why vacant we get a drink in the bar. Don’t want to sit in my room. Never coming here again !!! 🤬🤬🤬🤬

Slow service . Room for improvement in the food . Bread on the sandwiches was stale . Staff need training on the items what are on the menu. Bar closed at 8pm on Sunday and ran out of Prosecco on Saturday and for a Champagne bar is ridiculous

Well spaced out and relaxing atmosphere even at busy times. Service and staff very friendly and helpful.

Inexperienced staff, terrible service and underwhelming, bland food. We waited 50minutes for a drinks order, waited another 20 minutes to find out we’d been given the wrong food menu. When the food arrived, we waited another 5mins for cutlery, gave up and went to bar to get it ourselves. The salad had no dressing, with lettuce that was an inedible bitter core. We did complain, which is out of character for us but we’d paid £100 each for the spa package. One waiter was a apologetic and offered us a free drink, too little too late having waited nearly 90mins already we were keen to leave. The spa on the other hand was lovely!

Had a lovely meal with great service. Staff couldn't have helped more and the restaurant was very COVID safe.

Well looked after by LEANNE- we have been very regular patrons of the midland for more than forty years . We where pleased to visit again yesterday after long lockdown and refurbishment, for our usual tea , wine, scones and sandwiches. Leanne greeted us her usual bubbly self and after all this time , remembered our favourite sandwiches and even went out of her way to get our usual filling even remembering our favourite table and accompaniments-what a star , she needs promotion

I had the vegan option and enjoyed everything except for the 'cream' that came with the scones.It had a strange custard type of texture and didn't really go with the scone.There are some great vegan substitutes for traditional cream around and felt they could have sourced something better than this.

Arrived early for afternoon tea so decided to have a cocktail in the lounge area. After waiting 20 minutes for staff to ask for our order we went to the bar ourselves and ordered. We sat back at our seats and waited again drinks arrived but one was missing! A further 10 minutes passed before it arrived. Halfway through our drinks the waiter arrived asking for payment, certainly were quick enough wanting the money!! Not the best Bellini I've had and won't be visiting there again

Loved it here! Fabulously plush decor and wonderful courteous service. Reallly makes you feel special and would recommend to anyone. Superb meeting place and it adds that extra dimension of luxury to your plans. Go have a drink there!

I am a regular of this place because I find it a fantastic location for meetings. Staff are very good and I appreciate the manager Peter who recognises the regulars and often make the effort to say hello.

Our afternoon tea was disappointing. The sandwiches were dry, inconsistent and felt cheap. It felt that they had been made the day before and stored in the fridge over night. The poached salmon lacked seasoning, there was a barley there ham sandwich and the cucumber...

I droped by the Midland for breakfast yesterday. The breakfast was fabulous (the best kipper I've had in years - completely authentic) and the service quite outstanding. I was served by Beverley, who was perfect - attentive, helpful, timely and in control. A wonderful start...
