The meat is outstanding the pie and peas are the best in town as well. Not potato and meat pies but meat and potatoes! Must give a try!

Pre ordered 13 Christmas Pies for collection at 12 today. Was there on time to pick up and told not ready. Offered cold ones. Refused and were told they would drop some hot ones off at place of work in 20 mins. Turned up at 1.15. What is the point of pre ordering. If you can't supply the service please don't take the order.

We had dinner at the Railway Inn last Wednesday night, and from the minute we walked in the door we had a lovely experience. The owner, Colin, gave us a warm welcome, and he was the perfect host throughout the evening. The pub/restaurant is clean and modern, with a warm and cozy feel. The menu has a good selection of homely meals, something for everyone, all cooked by Hazel, Colin’s wife. Our meals were very tasty, my husband and I had the chicken with black pudding, and the chicken was cooked perfectly. The quantity of food was just right, and it was served at the right temperature. The whole evening was very good value for money. We had a really enjoyable night and will go back when we are next in the area.

Considering the coffee shop is adjacent to a ruin, I was expecting your average, tourist offering. I was happily surprised. We ordered baguettes, which seemed more like paninis. They were flavorful. I had bacon, brie & cranberry. The flat white hit the spot. And we shared a Victoria sponge cake that was our least favorite. Nevertheless, when you're with good friends, it makes for an even better lunch. Open Wednesdays - Sundays, 10:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Lovely wee pub. We stopped in whilst in the area briefly. Very warm inside and we received a very warm friendly welcome by the regulars who were very nice to us and our dogs

Well-how do I begin… turned up at 1pm for lunch. Absolutely freezing. Asked for the heating to be turned up but was told that as they were coming to end of the lunch service they turned it down-how long does the lunch service last 12-1pm??? and they serve food all day so what defines lunch service. Originally said we would have our drinks and go due to the cold but how quick can you drink a £7 glass of wine (yes £7!!) decided to stay as they moved us near a fire (not near enough and still no heating on) we had to sit in coats-not ideal. Don’t wait too long for food but long enough for 2 meals (the same) to come out burnt (cremated). I’ve been here many times and there was already plenty of veg in the stir fry’s. This time 2 pieces of pepper and the end of an onion. £14 for burnt chicken and 3 slices of veg I think not! Mr friend and I obviously didn’t eat or pay for our meals. Have been here many times and the food and service has always been great. The staff were snotty and quite rude and the food terrible-wing be going back which is a shame. But why pay for bad service and food. Don’t bother spend your money somewhere else that’s warmer with better staff and food!!
