This pub may be out of the town but it always gets packed for lunchtime. Good food, polite service. Good size portions too. Car park is small though.

Excellent food and service, there's a reason it was busy and mostly booked. Had the sweet chilli prawn stir fry which was great!

Nice and relaxed welcomingi has prawns in teriyaki sauce and lasagna whi was very tasty and came piping hot. Which the waiter was kind enough to warn me about The pub is dog friendly, comfortable and the food is good. The service however was a little slow. The staff were attentive and courteous though the other patrons in the pub seemed happy and friendly, talkative

The food and restaurant were both great but unfortunately the service let the place down. We pre-ordered our meals but the waitress told us the chef won't start making the food until we were all there anyway, so we still ended up waiting 30mins before the food was served. One meal was wrong and unfortunately my meal was completely missed off so by the time I got my food everyone else was finished and getting there plates cleared away. Great food just the service let the place down.

Seemed a long way down hill from our last visit. Service was thoroughly disorganised, we had to ask to get menus and ask twice again to order. They were busy but not exceptionally so. Took well over an hour to get food. Food was a mixed bag. Chips and baguette were lovely. Scampi was fresh but bland. Kids sausages were the cheapest possible. Nothing was actively bad but it's too expensive to justify being mediocre.

Having visited this pub for meals quite frequently and always been delighted. I dropped in one afternoon for a pint and being a nice day I sat in the garden and decided to have a snack. I chose the cheesy natcho's with chicken and side of salt and pepper chips. When my order came I was a bit disappointed with the frugal portions at at £15 seemed a bit steep. The natcho's were tasty but it took some time to find the half a dozen bits of chicken and the chips looked and tasted as though they were reheated and were just over salted to the point of inedible. As I've said it's always been a favourite of mine but this last visit the standard was poor and the food getting over priced.

Very friendly ( dog welcome ) pub. Our second visit here and it was just as good this time. It was pretty full on our arrival and we expected quite a wait for our food order to arrive but it came very quickly. Good food. Nice atmosphere.

Went here for dinner our first night in Barrow. Car parking limited but there is additional parking just up the road at the North Scale Community Centre (5 mins walk). Good hearty pub fayre and the food was well cooked. Personally, I would stay away from the onion rings, I love them but my son and I had them and we both suffered minor stomach upsets the following day. Could be a complete coincidence but that was the only common denominator. Otherwise, very popular pub, reasonable prices.

We had a weekend break just outside Barrow and planned a Sunday walk at Walney South Nature Reserve followed by Sunday Lunch. Tripadvisor reviews were good for The Crown so we booked. What a great find - roaring log fire, well-kept real ale, excellent roast beef dinner and dessert, live football on tv, it couldn’t get much better. Reasonable prices and served with a smile, would certainly recommend and visit again if in the area.

My daughter insisted on taking me here for the first time and I couldn't fault it. My stir fry was awesome, Surf and Turf (awesome steak strips), Szechuan sauce and rice. Couldn't fault the place and will definitely be back.

We had a very nice lunch at the Crown on a day trip to Walney Island. The food was excellent with good sized portions. Staff were very friendly and service was excellent. Dog friendly too.

Went for a family meal and everyone had a superb meal. The salt and pepper chips are to die for plus the Cajun surf and turf again is so so good. We will definitely have another meal here soon as we have forgotten how good the food is.

We had booked a table for 6.30pm ,dinner arrived very quickly ,we ordered a bottle of wine and looked forward to a relaxing evening ,chatting and relaxing, as soon as we finished our plates were taken away, at this time it was only 7.20pm we were told that they needed the table and that there was a table in the bar - it was presumed that we did not want desert. We were given a table that was squashed between two other full tables and right under the TV which had football on ,it was impossible to have a conversation ,we finished our drinks and went to the bar to pay .I told the gentleman who appeared to be in charge that I wasn't happy about the situation ,he said that he had asked us to move and we said okay ,this is completely wrong , we felt obliged to move as no other option was given.

Me and my family payed a visit to The Crown at Walney. It was the first time we had ever been there to eat, so it was a slight risk but we had heard great reviews in the past.The risk certainly paid off! We were celebrating my sisters birthday and once parked, which was a bit tricky as the car park was full, we were seated pretty quickly by a member of staff. It was quite busy for a Monday but then again it is supposed to be a really popular place. We were sat near a roaring fire and windows with stunning views.Onto the food and both my sisters ordered the famous Cajun Chicken Baguette, one with chips and salad and one with chips and onion rings. The both loved it and I have to say when I had a sample of it I was of the same view. My Mam ordered the scampi and chips with mushy peas which didn't touch the sides! My Nan chose the Cheesed off Chicken with BBQ sauce, onion rings and chips which went down a treat! As for myself I decided to have two courses and went for the starter of crispy pork belly bites with salt and pepper which was lovely! To follow I plumped for the fish and salt and pepper chips which were even more scrumptious. The fish was melt in the mouth!We all left with full tummies and the service was great too, not too rushed and very polite too. A real birthday treat for my sister! I would recommend this venue to anyone in the future!

Primera vez que hemos estado aquí desde su renovación. El personal fue fantástico al acomodar dos cambios en la reserva. Tuvimos una cálida bienvenida y nos sentamos enseguida. Bebidas pedidos tomados y llegaron en poco tiempo. Éramos siete de nosotros. Todos ordenaron algo diferente.Las comidas llegaron rápidamente y eran agradables y calientes. Todos se acomodaron con gusto y no hubo nada más que elogios. Tuve el cordero y estaba tan tierno y se cayó el hueso. El puré era suave y sin grumos y verduras perfectamente cocinadas.Pedimos postres y tuve la tarta de queso y helado de caramelo salado vegano. Nunca dirías que era vegano, estaba delicioso y cremoso. El helado era tan bueno que con gusto lo tomaría durante el mediodía vegano cualquier día.En general, 10/10 nadie podría criticar nada y sin duda iré a mi cumpleaños más adelante en el año.

La corona estaba casi llena. ¡Podría deberse al hecho de que la mayoría de los lugares en el área cierran los lunes, o más probablemente de que muchos lo saben!El lugar fue renovado recientemente, por lo que la decoración es fresca. This place is great...only if you enjoy poor quality meat topped with uncle bens “finest” sauces. Nothing left to say really.

Volví aquí después de un tiempo, muy ocupada la semana anterior a Navidad, un poco decepcionado por el menú reducido para diciembre, pero comprensible en vista de lo ocupados que están. Habíamos reservado y nos dieron la opción de una mesa en el restaurante o en la zona del bar, elegimos este último ya que era un poco más tranquilo. Servicio muy amable con pedidos de bebidas tomadas de inmediato. Mi esposa estaba un poco decepcionada de que su entrante favorito no estuviera en el menú reducido, pero la camarera habló con el chef y nos permitieron las gambas rebozadas con semillas de sésamo y miel, absolutamente deliciosas, y una porción decente, la crema los hongos eran igualmente una gran porción y muy sabrosos. Para los platos principales tuvimos el pescado y las patatas fritas y un pollo madras que estaba en el menú especial. Ambos platos eran excelentes, especialmente el pescado. Después de haber estado aquí varias veces, creo que este es sin duda el mejor lugar para una comida de pub en Barrow, pero probablemente tendrá que reservar.

Birthday tea for 9 people, very busy but that doesn't hinder the staff, atmosphere or quality of food. Staff jokey, polite & make you feel at ease. Lovely place to eat.

5 adults and 1 child in a busy lunch, service was speedy but not rushed, everyone enjoyed their meals, I opted for the chicken and bacon in a creamy Stilton sauce, all cooked very well and a good sized portion. Will be back

On a recent visit to Barrow friends took me for Sunday Lunch to The Crown at North Scale. My friends pre-booked a table as it is a very popular location for meals, especially Sunday lunch.

Popped in for food and was very pleasantly surprised. The food was incredible and the atmosphere and the staff were lovely. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting barrow but definitely need to book.

Went to Crown at 6pm good job l booked a table because it was full with no seats left. The meal was excellent, I had the lamb shank which was very tasty and tender the meat just falling off the bone, with it there was fresh carrots , broccoli , mashed spuds and gravy.There was a good selections of ales and wine . All in all an excellent meal with excellent at a reasonable price. Will definitely be going again

we went here for my birthday meal and we absolutely loved it, we would definitely go again! this was our first time going and we all loved it !!

Called here on spec mid week, place was buzzing and we were lucky to get a table, definitely worth booking as always popular. Starters were large portions especially the cod goujons, four large pieces of cod in batter. Mains were also large portions, very tasty, my wife’s salmon was, she said amongst the best she had ever had, the steak and ale pie was larger than average and packed with meat. Great atmosphere but perhaps the background music was a little loud. Definitely worth a trip.

We were at the Crown for my wife's birthday, 11 adults and 3 children, it was busy as usual but we received a warm welcome and when everyone arrived we were all seated together, as we had pre-ordered the food came out quickly and was enjoyed by all.

From the moment we walked through the door, staff were so welcoming. We were shown to our table immediately, and drinks orders were taken instantly. It wasn't too long before we all ordered our food, and before we knew it it all arrived freshly presented and piping hot. Portions were generous, and you cannot fault the food, or the hospitality shown. We can't wait for our next visit.

We called here at teatime, very busy, they managed to fit us in. The food is amazing delicious, I had salmon and prawns, hubby had real ale pie. Definitely recommend this pub for best food and great service

La corona debe ser uno de los mejores pubs de la zona para disfrutar de una excelente comida y un menú variado. Nunca he tenido una mala comida aquí, me encantan las papas fritas, pero realmente no puedes equivocarte. El personal es genial y nada demasiado problema. Un lugar ideal para todos, con una buena mezcla de comensales y aficionados a los pubs tradicionales, una excelente combinación.

We came back here after several months to find a well refurbished airy look to the premises. Good menu with several dishes we fancied. There is a Sunday menu at £12.95 for two courses, but quite limited choice, two starters two mains: roast beef and steak and ale pie, OK maybe there could be a second choice of roast but we saw that most diners weren’t opting for the specials. Quick enthusiastic service, full bar and reasonable wine list. One starter was ‘scallops of the day’, my wife asked how they were cooked, to be told, pan fried in butter, but was not told about the accompanying bacon and black pudding, which she cannot stand, scallops were nice though. I chose the cod goujons, four large pieces of cod in batter, very nice and a large serving. Two of us then had the home baked ham with chips and egg, this was lovely, nice chips and truly home baked ham. My wife had the salmon which was also delicious but did come with rather a lot of butter on the plate. Surprisingly, two of us managed a dessert, these were great too. All in all, a lovely meal, well and quickly served, but make sure you arrive hungry to do it justice! Must come back to try those baguettes.

Just visited today, at lunch. We ordered the Fish & chips, & Sweet Chilli chicken in a baguette with Salt N Pepper chips. The food & Service was truly exceptional, cannot praise this local establishment enough.

Have eaten at The Crown Earnsie Bay on several occasions and being medically diagnosed coeliac I do struggle finding places to eat . However I can honestly recommend this hostelry for good - no excellent food (and gluten free is available) personally I chose the fantastic stir fries with gluten free sauces but there are plenty of other options for you to choose from

Mi hijo tuvo una fiesta en Walney, así que tuvimos un par de horas para matar antes de recogerlo, así que pensamos que deberíamos llamar a The Crown para pedir un lugar para el almuerzo. Family group, everyone enjoyed their meals that were tasty and good sized portions. Main restaurant looks unchanged since refurbbut toilets are a massive improvement.

It is advisable to book early for this recently refurbished pub. It has a lovely layout inside which provides a warm welcome to customers. The food was great and obviously cooked fresh as we had a wait for the food to come out (not a complaint as we didn't mind the wait.). My wife has a vegan diet which was well catered for here. Would definitely recommend.

No puedo criticar las comidas en toda la salsa Cajun fue la mejor salsa Cajun que he probado en mi vida. El personal es amable y fue bueno verlo ocupado el lunes a mediodía.

We visited the Island during the day, and googled for a good pub for dinner. We turned up without booking. They where very accommodating in fitting us in, even though they were quite busy. We found the menu limited which isn’t a problem in itself. The portions were small however What there was tasted ok. However £10.95 for scampi,chips and mushy peas was quite steep. Won’t return.
